  • Retrieving the an SQL Agent job's specific error

    - by Tom Andrews
I am using msdb..sp_help_job to access whether a job succeeded or failed and can retrieve a general error. But, I want to access the specific error for the step that failed. I cannot seem to find it. It is not in this list of helpful stored procedures provided by MS http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187763%28v=SQL.100%29.aspx The account running the query is limited but does have the SQLUserAgent role and owns the Jobs that it is accessing.

  • WPF 4, ListView and ListCollectionView custom sorting

    - by JustABill
I'm trying to use a custom sort with a ListView, as described in this blog entry. I'm doing ListCollectionView view = (ListCollectionView)CollectionViewSource.GetDefaultView(TheList.ItemsSource); as recommended there and in several other places, but for some reason I'm getting "Unable to cast object of type 'MS.Internal.Data.EnumerableCollectionView' to type 'System.Windows.Data.ListCollectionView'." (TheList is of type ListView). What could be causing this?

  • Algorithm to generate a crossword

    - by nickf
Given a list of words, how would you go about arranging them into a crossword grid? It wouldn't have to be like a "proper" crossword puzzle which is symmetrical or anything like that: basically just output a starting position and direction for each word.

  • Visual Studio Font Size (Windows 7)

    - by Jay
Hi, I've lately installed Windows 7. After opening my old C# project in visual studio i noticed that my buttons are too small (button.text didn't fit in). Why the hell did MS increase the standard font size (well font size is still set to 8, but it's somehow bigger now)? Can I fix it somehow, without correcting all my buttons etc. manually? Kind regards, Jay

  • Front-end testing - tools Selenium RC

    - by Ekaterina
Hello people, I am wondering what tool(s) do you use for front-end testing... Currently I am using Selenium RC as tool to test the front-end. I am quite happy with the result as I managed to integrate it with the ms build process etc. The problem with Selenium tests is that they are not always reliable especially if you browse with something else than Firefox. I am looking for open source alternatives (tools for front-end testing)?

  • JSON encoding on RTL languages

    - by Lev
Hi, I'm using JSON to integrate open flash chart to my web page. When I have a Right to Left language string which contains more the one word the JSON encodes it backwards (For example: "Hello world" is encoded as "world hello"). The string is extracted from a database, there for can be of any language. How do I force the correct encoding of Right to Left language without ruining other languages? Thanks

  • WinAPI magic and MONO runtime

    - by Luca
I'm trying to get the same result of a .NET application (see the link Hide TabControl buttons to manage stacked Panel controls for details), but using the MONO runtime instead of the MS .NET runtime. Pratically, when the custom control is executed using the MONO runtime, the underlying message is not sent to the control, causing the tab pages to be shown... Is there a portable solution which is elegant as the linked one? If it is not possible, what are possible workarounds (apart from removing/adding tabs at runtime)?

  • professor of Java not knowing Groovy or Scala, normal or abnormal

    - by user311884
i went to a prestigeous software conference (as dominant in its own field as MS in general), one main speaker is a professor of computer science who has been teaching Java for 20 years. During question session, he seems never heard of Groovy or Scala.... He is from a decent University in US... Is Groovy or Scala too new to attract academic attention or is this professor abnormal? thanks.

  • Execution time of ALTER COLUMN

    - by Tommy Jakobsen
Having a table with 60 columns, and 200 rows. Altering a BIT column from NULL to NOT NULL, now has a running execution time of over 3 hours. Why is this taking so long? This is the query that I'm execution: ALTER TABLE tbl ALTER COLUMN col BIT NOT NULL Is there a faster way to do it, besides creating a new column, updating it with values from the old column, then dropping the old column and renaming the new one? This is on MS SQL Server 2005.

  • What's a regular language?

    - by Javier Badia
I've read that you can't parse HTML with regular expressions because HTML is not a regular language. I tried searching Wikipedia, but I didn't understand a word of what the various related articles said. Can someone explain, in simpler terms, what's a regular (or non-regular) language, and why non-regular languages can't be parsed with regexes?

  • Just to not to be ingnorant.

    - by atch
Could anyone explain to me why is it that producers of processors claim that their processor can perform so many thousands (or millions) operations per second and yet typical program (Word, VS etc.) on my machine with 4GB, 3500hz starts with no less than 10sek. Have to mention that I've just formatted disk and tick any necessarry boxes to optimize my machine. So if for example outlook starts in 10 sek I wonder how many millions of operations have to be performed to run such program? Thanks

    - by Shreyas Satish
I have tried using a stemmer but the words it produces are just not upto the mark. It could be great if you could let me know any lemmatizer script there exists for ruby or a lemmatizer gem or an SQL query that bundles out the lemma of a word in the wordnet database. Cheers !

  • Convert URLs into HTML links using sed?

    - by Mike Crittenden
I'm wondering if it's possible (recommended might be the better word) to use sed to convert URLs into HTML hyperlinks in a document. Therefore, it would look for things like: http://something.com And replace them with <a href="http://something.com">http://something.com</a> Any thoughts? Could the same also be done for email addresses?

  • understanding semcor corpus structure h

    - by Sharmila
    I'm learning NLP. I currently playing with Word Sense Disambiguation. I'm planning to use the semcor corpus as training data but I have trouble understanding the xml structure. I tried googling but did not get any resource describing the content structure of semcor. <s snum="1"> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="DT">The</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="group" lexsn="1:03:00::" pn="group" pos="NNP" rdf="group" wnsn="1">Fulton_County_Grand_Jury</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="say" lexsn="2:32:00::" pos="VB" wnsn="1">said</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="friday" lexsn="1:28:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">Friday</wf> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="DT">an</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="investigation" lexsn="1:09:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">investigation</wf> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="IN">of</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="atlanta" lexsn="1:15:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">Atlanta</wf> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="POS">'s</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="recent" lexsn="5:00:00:past:00" pos="JJ" wnsn="2">recent</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="primary_election" lexsn="1:04:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">primary_election</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="produce" lexsn="2:39:01::" pos="VB" wnsn="4">produced</wf> <punc>``</punc> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="DT">no</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="evidence" lexsn="1:09:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">evidence</wf> <punc>''</punc> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="IN">that</wf> <wf cmd="ignore" pos="DT">any</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="irregularity" lexsn="1:04:00::" pos="NN" wnsn="1">irregularities</wf> <wf cmd="done" lemma="take_place" lexsn="2:30:00::" pos="VB" wnsn="1">took_place</wf> <punc>.</punc> </s> I'm assuming wnsn is 'word sense'. (again third line) In general, what are the possible attributes?

  • jQuery plug-in to remap numeric keypad

    - by Álvaro G. Vicario
Is there a jQuery plug-in to remap the "dot" key in the numeric keypad? The purpose is to make it print a decimal separator, rather than a dot, in languages that use commas or other characters. I'd like to mimic the behaviour of some desktop applications like MS Excel. (It's okay to hard-code the output character.)

  • UISearchDisplayController - how to display search result with only by scope button selected but empt

    - by billibala
The UISearchDisplayController is very handy and implementing search is pretty straightforward. However, I bump into problem when, in my app, I want to display search result with empty search string but selected scope button. It seems like it's a must to enter some search string in order to get the search result table being initialized and displayed. Is there any ways to display search result immediately after user has picked a scope but not entered search word yet? Thanks Bill
