• Android: Determine when app is being finalized

  Hi all, I posted a question yesterday about determining when an app is being finalized vs destroyed for screen orientation change. Thanks to the answers I received I was able to resolve my problem with the screen orientation change. However, I am still running into a roadblock. This app I am working on logs into a website with an HttpClient. As long as the app remains in memory the HttpClient will retain the cookies from logging in. However, once it is killed, it would need to log in again. My question: How can I determine when the app is being killed from memory so I can set a boolean to false telling the app it has been removed from memory so the next time it starts it will read this and determine is must log in again? Or is it possible to serialize an HttpClient and put that in the savedInstanceState bundle? May extract the cookies from the client and put those in the savedInstanceState bundle? Is there something I'm completely missing here maybe? Any help or a point in the right direction is greatly appreciated because this one has me stumped. Thank you!

• Android AlertDialog clicking Positive and Negative just dismiss

• Slow Databinding setup time in C# .NET 4.0

  Hello, I have got a problem. I have windows forms application with dynamic generated layout, but i have a problem in performance. In this form i use DataBinding from .NET 4.0 and databinding after setup works fine, but he binding setup time for ONE control blocking my application on approx 0.7 second. I have some controls and time of binging setuping is around 2 minutes. I trying all possible solutions, I dont have any ideas without write self binding class. • How to instantiate spring bean without being referenced from aop:aspect

  Using Spring and Java; I have a pointcut which works OK. Now I want to remove the pointcut and AOP from the spring and just trigger the event with an event from inside the java code but I want "myAdvice" bean still called via Spring and its properties set. I want to get ridoff all advice things even in java code, no more advice or any trace of AOP, I already have a nice event system working. I just want to instantiate my bean via Spring. When I remove the second code block (one starting with "aop:config") then I noticed the bean "myAdvice" is not called and instantiated anymore. • send arrow keys using ganymed ssh java

  I am using Ganymed ssh to connect to a remote machine and apart from sending commands I need to send the arrows keys (left and right keys). I can send commands but when I send the arrows keys nothing happends. • NSDate out of scope

  Having problems with out of scope for NSDate in an iphone app. I have an interface defined like this: @interface MyObject : NSoObject { NSMutableArray *array; BOOL checkThis; NSDate *nextDue; } Now in the implementation I have this: -(id) init { if( (self=[super init]) ) { checkThis = NO; array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; nextDue = [[NSDate date] retain]; NSDate *testDate = [NSDate date]; } return self; } Now, if I trace through the init, before I actually assign the variables checkThis shows as boolean. array shows as pointer 0x0 because it hasn't ben assigned. But the nextDue is showing as 'out of scope'. I don't understand why this is out of scope but the other variables aren't. If I trace through the code until after the variables are assigned, array now shows as being correctly assigned but nextDue is still out of scope. Interestingly, the testDate variable is assigned just fine and the debugger shows this as a valid date. Further interesting point is if I move the mouse over the testDate variable while I am debugging, it shows as an 'NSDate *' type which I would expect since that's its definition. Yet the nextDue, which to me is defined the same way is showing as a '_NSCFDate *'. Any googling I did on the subject said that the retain is the problem, but its actually out of scope before I even try to assign the variable. However, in another class, the same definition for NSDate work ok. It shows as nil before a value is assigned to it. Arghhh

SetCloseTime= new RelayCommand<bool>(ExecuteSetCloseTime); The parameter in the action for the command always resolves to the previous state of the CheckBox, e.g. false when the CheckBox is checked, and true when the CheckBox is unchecked. void ExecuteSetCloseTime(bool isChecked) { if (isChecked) { // do something } } Is this expected behavior? I have a workaround where I have separate triggers (and commands) for the Checked and Unchecked and use a RelayCommand instead of RelayCommand<bool>. Each command executes correctly when the CheckBox is checked and unchecked. Feels a little dirty though - even dirtier than having UI code in my ViewModel :) Thanks

• Java OutOfMemoryError message changes when trying to create Arrays of different sizes

  In the question by DKSRathore How to simulate the Out Of memory : Requested array size exceeds VM limit some odd behavior was noted when creating an arrays. When creating an array of size Integer.MAX_VALUE an exception with the error java.lang.OutOfMemoryError Requested array size exceeds VM limit was thrown. However when an array was created with a size less than the max but still above the virtual machine memory limit the error message read java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space. Testing further I managed to narrow down where the error messages changes. long[] l = new long[2147483645]; exceptions message reads - Requested array size exceeds VM limit long[] l = new long[2147483644]; exceptions message reads - Java heap space errors I increased my virtual machine memory and still produced the same result. Has anyone any idea why this happens? Some extra info: Integer.MAX_VALUE = 2147483647. • WPF DataBinding to standard CLR properties in code-behind

  Hi everyone, Just learning WPF databinding and have a gap in my understanding. I've seen a few similar questions on StackOverflow, but I'm still struggling in determining what I have done wrong. I have a simple Person class with a Firstname and Surname property (standard CLR properties). I also have a standard CLR property on my Window class that exposes an instance of Person. I've then got some XAML, with two methods of binding. The first works, the second doesn't. Can anybody help me to understand why the second method fails? • JSESSIONID collision between two servers on same ip but different ports

  I've got a situation where I have two different webapps running on a single server, using different ports. They're both running Java's Jetty servlet container, so they both use a cookie parameter named JSESSIONID to track the session id. These two webapps are fighting over the session id. Open a Firefox tab, and go to WebApp1 WebApp1's HTTP response has a set-cookie header with JSESSIONID=1 Firefox now has a Cookie header with JSESSIONID=1 in all it's HTTP requests to WebApp1 Open a second Firefox tab, and go to WebApp2 The HTTP reqeust to WebApp2 also has a Cookie header with JSESSIONID=1, but in the doGet, when I call req.getSession(false); I get null. And if I call req.getSession(true) I get a new Session object, but then the HTTP response from WebApp2 has a set-cookie header with JSESSIONID=20 Now, WebApp2 has a working Session, but WebApp1's session is gone. Going to WebApp1 will give me a new session, blowing away WebApp2's session. Continue forever So the Sessions are thrashing between each web app. I'd really like for the req.getSession(false) to return a valid session if there's already a JSESSIONID cookie defined. One option is to basically reimplement the Session framework with a HashMap and cookies called WEBAPP1SESSIONID and WEBAPP2SESSIONID, but that sucks, and means I'll have to hack the new Session stuff into ActionServlet and a few other places. This must be a problem others have encountered. Is Jetty's HttpServletRequest.getSession(boolean) just crappy?

  JPA2 with the Criteria API seems to generate invalid SQL for PostgreSQL. For this code: Root<DBObjectAccessCounter> from = query.from(DBObjectAccessCounter.class); Path<DBObject> object = from.get(DBObjectAccessCounter_.object); Expression<Long> sum = builder.sumAsLong(from.get(DBObjectAccessCounter_.count)); query.multiselect(object, sum).groupBy(object); I get the following exception: ERROR: column "dbobject1_.id" must appear in the GROUP BY clause or be used in an aggregate function The generated SQL is: select dbobjectac0_.object_id as col_0_0_, sum(dbobjectac0_.count) as col_1_0_, dbobject1_.id as id1001_, dbobject1_.name as name1013_, dbobject1_.lastChanged as lastChan2_1013_, dbobject1_.type_id as type3_1013_ from DBObjectAccessCounter dbobjectac0_ inner join DBObject dbobject1_ on dbobjectac0_.object_id=dbobject1_.id group by dbobjectac0_.object_id Obviously, the first item of the select statement (dbobjectac0_.object_id) does not match the group by clause.   I'm not even sure if this is possible, but I've exhausted all of my ideas trying to figure this out, so I figured I'd send this out to the community and see what you thought. And, if it's not possible, maybe you'd have some ideas as well. I'm trying to make an Attribute class that I can add to a method that would allow me to use a lambda expression to get each parameter of the method public ExampleAttribute : Attribute { public object Value { get; set; } public ExampleAttribute(--something here to make the lambda work--, object value) { Value = value; } } I'd like to be able to something like this below: [Example(x=x.Id, 4)] [Example(x=x.filter, "string value")] public ActionResult Index(int Id, string filter) { return View(); } I understand that I might be completely dreaming with this idea. I'm basically trying to write a model to allow for self-documenting REST API Documentation. In a recent project here at work we wrote a dozen or so services with 5 to 15 methods on each, I figure it's easier to write something to do this, than to hand code a documentation page for each. I would plan to eventually release this as an open-source project once I have it in a place that I feel it's releasable.

  I'm quite new to C#, so I might have a problem that C# has a simple solution for. I have a generic class with a property of "generic" type. How do I implement a function that behaves differently depending on the type of my generic property?

• Preserving SCRIPT tags (and more) in CKEditor

  Update: I'm thinking the solution to this problem is in CKEDITOR.config.protectedSource(), but my regular-expression experience is proving to be too juvenile to handle this issue. How would I go about exempting all tags that contain the 'preserved' class from being touched by CKEditor? Is it possible to create a block of code within the CKEditor that will not be touched by the editor itself, and will be maintained in its intended-state until explicitly changed by the user? I've been attempting to input javascript variables (bound in script tags) and a flash movie following, but CKEditor continues to rewrite my pasted code/markup, and in doing so breaking my code. • Set fields with instrospection - Problem with String.valueOf(String)

  Hey there! I'm setting public fields of the Object 'this' via reflection. Both the field name and the value are given as String. I use several various field types: Boolean, Integer, Float, Double, an own enum, and a String. It works with all of them except with a String. The exception that gets thrown is that no method with the Signature String.valueOf(String) exists... Now I use a dirty instanceof workaround to detect if each field is a String and in that case just copy the value to the field. private void setField(String field, String value) throws Exception { Field wField = this.getClass().getField(field); if(wField.get(this) instanceof String){ //TODO dirrrrty hack //stupid workaround as java.lang.String.valueOf(java.lang.String) fails... wField.set(this, value); }else{ Method parseMethod = wField.getType().getMethod("valueOf", new Class[]{String.class}); wField.set(this, parseMethod.invoke(wField, value)); } } Any ideas how to avoid that workaround? • Custom Calculations in a Matrix - Reporting Services 2005

  I am writing a report to show gas usage (in gallons) used by each department. The request is to view each month and the gallons used by each department. A column is required to display what each departments target goal is, based on the gallons of gas they have used in a past time frame. Each departments target goal is x percent less than the total gallons used for said time frame. I currently have a matrix in Reporting Services with departments making up rows, months making up columns, and gallons filling the details. The matrix is being filled by dataset1. I have the data grouping as is requested for each month by each department. My problem is calculating the target goal. My thought was to create a second dataset (dataset2) that returns the gallons used based on the time frame requested. I grouped this data by department. I was hoping I could use the department field in each dataset to make sure the appropriate numbers were used. I added a new column which shows up next to the gallons field. As I attempted to build the Expression I found out that I could only grab the gallons used from dataset2 if I was summing the gallons field. This gives me the total gallons used by every department combined. I have tried to find resources with similar examples of what I am trying to accomplish but I cannot seem to come across one. I am trying to keep this as detailed as possible without making it too wordy. I would be more than happy to clarify or explain into further detail what I have written above if it is needed. If anyone has links, comments, or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. A very simple visual or what I am hoping to accomplish is below. • Why does ANTLR not parse the entire input?

I have defined a simple grammar which is supposed to include arithmetic expressions with numbers and identifiers (strings that start with a letter and continue with one or more letters or numbers.) • Sensible unit test possible?

  Could a sensible unit test be written for this code which extracts a rar archive by delegating it to a capable tool on the host system if one exists? I can write a test case based on the fact that my machine runs linux and the unrar tool is installed, but if another developer who runs windows would check out the code the test would fail, although there would be nothing wrong with the extractor code. I need to find a way to write a meaningful test which is not binded to the system and unrar tool installed. • Converting TrueClass / FalseClass to integer.

  Hello. I'm trying to figure out if there is an easy way to do the following short of adding to_i method to TrueClass/FalseClass. Here is a dilemma: I have a boolean field in my rails app - that is obviously stored as Tinyint in mysql. However - I need to generate xml based of the data in mysql and send it to customer - there SOAP service requires the field in question to have 0 or 1 as the value of this field. So at the time of the xml generation I need to convert my False to 0 and my True to 1 ( which is how they are stored in the DB). Since True & False lack to_i method I could write some if statement that generate either 1 or 0 depending on true/false state. However I have about 10 of these indicators and creating and if/else for each is not very DRY. So what you recommend I do? Or I could add a to_i method to the True / False class. But I'm not sure where should I scope it in my rails app? Just inside this particular model or somewhere else?
