  • One time use FTP passwords with C-Panel/WHM?

    I'm in a position where I need to give about a dozen people one shot FTP access to a domain in order to upload their work. I'd like to use single shot passwords, e.g once they login and upload, that's it. Single use. I don't see any obvious means of doing this conveniently with C-Panel. Prior to going through the bother of writing a WHM add on to accomplish the same, I'd like to make sure that I'm not re-inventing the wheel. Thanks in advance.

  • Two people using the same computer at the same time remotely!

    We have two computer in office and two people. My computer is much more faster than another computer. Is it possible my colleague connect to my computer remotely and work by my computer? Using "Remote Desktop" in Windows only one user can log into computer. So when he connect remotely, my user logged off. Is there a tool which can help in this case? I already knew VNC (RealVNC) But it's not helping because when a user connect to my computer, he see exactly my desktop, not his own user desktop.

  • Why does Microsoft Windows' performance appear to degrade over time?

    Windows XP/2k3 and earlier (can't attest to Vista, but suspect it's the same) all appear to become more sluggish over time as applications are installed and uninstalled. This is not a scientifically tested observation, but more of a learned-through-experience piece of wisdom. (I've always suspected the registry as being behind the issue.) Does anyone have any concrete evidence of this degradation occurring, or it just an invalid perception of mine?

  • My external hard drive letter is increasing each time i plugin it to my laptop, how to solve this pr

    I have a strange problem, everytime i plugin my external hard drive, its letter increase, "g,h,i,j,k,l,m, then n, and now o" I went to computer manager and did what is described in this question: http://superuser.com/questions/76165/windows-changing-an-external-hard-drives-drive-letter To change the drive letter, but i found that the letters from h to n are all missed and not in the list. How to solve this problem? I am using windows 7 ultimate edition 32. 2GB Ram.

  • Can i use VS Setup Project to build a bootstrapper which can install correct platform version or are

But i couldn't find a way to combine both into one project so that the bootstrapper is installing the correct platform version. Is there a way to do so in VS Setup Project or are are there any free 3rd party tools i can use? I found dotnetinstaller, but i'm not sure if that is what i'm looking for.

    Hey there. I'm building my own computer, and i just finished picking out all of my parts. Now i just want to be sure it'll all work before i order it. I'm mean specifically if the RAM & Graphic card will fit on the motherboard i chose. Below is a list of all parts. I'm sorry, i selected the parts from a Swedish website so it might be hard to understand some parts. Google Translate will help ;) I really appreciate any help/suggestions.   • Openoffice.org: Mouse wheel one row at a time possible?

    I noticed this in Excel, now in OpenOffice.org calc. One small change in mouse wheel leads to 3 rows (line) change. Is it possible to change in Calc OR/AND in Excel? EDIT: Yes, I know about system wide setting about the number of lines for one notch of scroll. But in some applications this setting is interpreted related to size in pixels so scrolling is predictable, but for some like spreadsheet is not. Since the height of line in a cell differ depending of the cell content, with other setting as 1 you will have a guarantee of unpredictable content before your eyes with only one notch.

    I am a reasonably competent programmer, with about 11 years experience. I particularly like Ruby/Rails and ActionScript. And Java is not too hard. I'd like to develop a web application in Java in order to leverage things like BlazeDS and learn some new tricks with regard to JBoss and the whole Java App thing. But I'm having trouble - and confused - looking for a smooth start. I don't want to use Grails, thanks, I want to use Pure Java, with whatever Framework you can think of. Spring, Hibernate, lalala, it's cool. Where do I start?

    With the latest Xcode and SDK 3.0 beta when you create a new iPhone project, Xcode creates an SDK 3.0 project. If I want to revert to SDK 2.2.1 after the project has been created, I need to change something in the generated source code files since some of the APIs have changed. Is there a simple way to specify at project creation time the SDK I want to use explicitly? Thank you in advance

  • "Thunderbird is already running" error every time I try to start Thunderbird, even if it is not running

    I cannot open Thunderbird. The process isn't running, but when I click on the icon, I get the the following error: Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system. I've tried the following: Ending the task in Task Manager Deleting parent.lock Uninstalling Thunderbird Uninstalling Firefox Running Thunderbird in software "safe mode" and Windows safe mode What can I do to fix this problem? The problem looks more serious than expected. I do not see any Mail folder in my profile at C:\Users\your-username\AppData\Mozilla\Thunderbird. I think I lost my email.

  • .NET How would I build a DAL to meet my requirments?

    Assuming that I must deploy an asp.net app over the following 3 servers: 1) DB - not public 2) 'middle' - not public 3) Web server - public I am not allowed to connect from the web server to the DB directly. I must pass through 'middle' - this is purely to slow down an attacker if they breached the web server. All db access is via stored procedures. No table access. I simply want to provide the web server with a ado dataset (I know many will dislike this, but this is the requirement). Using asmx web services - it works, but XML serialisation is slow and it's an extra set of code to maintain and deploy. Using a ssh/vpn tunnel so that the one connects to the db 'via' the middle server, seems to remove any possible benefit of maintaining 'middle'. Using WCF binary/tcp removes the XML problem, but still there is extra code. Is there an approach that provides the ease of ssh/vpn, but the potential benefit of having the dal on the middle server? As this example shows, i want td1 are fixed with different width, td3 is also width fixed but at the right, td2 are all width auto to expand when screen radio changed. I'm wondering if there is a way to do this by using CSS?

  • Why can't Win7 remember my tether? New Connection Setup every time

    In Win7 when you connect to a new network you're prompted to set it as a Home, Work, or Public connection. Presumably this influences default security settings. That's all well and good, except for the part that everytime I USB tether my smartphone Win7 comes up with a new dialogue. I think I'm up to generic connection 25 or something? It's getting ridiculous. Is there anyway to get Win7 to remember the phone tether as ONE connection only?

  • Is it poor practice to build an SQL query using WHERE 1=1 AND ...

    I'm writing a script that builds an SQL query by concatenating the string and adding conditions to the WHERE clause as needed. Would it be better practice to use WHERE 1=1 so that the first condition is satisfied and the script can just concatenate an AND x = 'y' to the query, or should I write the extra code to check if a clause has been added and if not, add the AND ? Confusing question, I know. Let me know if I need to be more clear. Rob
