    I am learning C#/ASP.NET and I am wondering what the C# equivalent of the following PHP code is?     I need to preface I'm not a .NET coder at all, but to get partial functionality, I modified a technet chunkedfilefetch.aspx script that uses chunked Data Reading and writing Streamed method of doing file transfer, to get me half-way. iStream = New System.IO.FileStream(path, System.IO.FileMode.Open, _ IO.FileAccess.Read, IO.FileShare.Read) dataToRead = iStream.Length Response.ContentType = "application/octet-stream" Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", file.Length.ToString()) Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" & filedownload) ' Read and send the file 16,000 bytes at a time. ' While dataToRead 0 If Response.IsClientConnected Then length = iStream.Read(buffer, 0, 16000) Response.OutputStream.Write(buffer, 0, length) Response.Flush() ReDim buffer(16000) ' Clear the buffer ' dataToRead = dataToRead - length Else ' Prevent infinite loop if user disconnects ' dataToRead = -1 End If End While This works great on files up to 2GB and is fully functioning now.. But only one problem it doesn't allow for resume. I took the original code called it fetch.aspx and pass an orderNUM through the URL. fetch.aspx&ordernum=xxxxxxx It then reads the filename/location from the database occording to the ordernumber, and chunks it out from a secured location NOT under the webroot. I need a way to make this resumable, by the nature of the internet and large files people always get disconnected and would like to resume where they left off. But any resumable articles i've read, assume the file is within the webroot.. ie. http://www.devx.com/dotnet/Article/22533/1954 Great article and works well, but I need to stream from a secured location. I'm not a .NET coder at all, at best i can do a bit of coldfusion, if anyone could help me modify a handler to do this, i would really appreciate it. Requirements: I Have a working fetch.aspx script that functions well and uses the above code snippet as a base for the streamed downloading. Download files are large 600MB and are stored in a secured location outside of the webroot. Users click on the fetch.aspx to start the download, and would therefore be clicking it again if it was to fail. If the ext is a .ASPX and the file being sent is a AVI, clicking on it would completely bypass an IHTTP handler mapped to .AVI ext, so this confuses me From what I understand the browser will read and match etag value and file modified date to determine they are talking about the same file, then a subsequent accept-range is exchanged between the browser and IIS. Since this dialog happens with IIS, we need to use a handler to intercept and respond accordingly, but clicking on the link would send it to an ASPX file which the handeler needs to be on an AVI fiel.. Also confusing me. If there is a way to request the initial HTTP request header containing etag, accept-range into the normal .ASPX file, i could read those values and if the accept-range and etag exist, start chunking at that byte value somehow? but I couldn't find a way to transfer the http request headers since they seem to get lost at the IIS level. OrderNum which is passed in the URL string is unique and could be used as the ETag Response.AddHeader("ETag", request("ordernum")) Files need to be resumable and chunked out due to size. File extensions are .AVI so a handler could be written around it. IIS 6.0 Web Server Any help would really be appreciated, i've been reading and reading and downloading code, but none of the examples given meet my situation with the original file being streamed from outside of the webroot. Please help me get a handle on these httphandlers :)

    Hi all! Title says it all. I have an XML file containing different testimonial quotes, including the name of the person they're quoted from. I have a DIV on my page, and I want it to rotate randomly between these XML testimonials - LIVE (without refreshing). If this can be done easily in JQuery, that would be even better.     Im using the Twitter API to read the Favorites RSS, it generates the following output: http://vl3.co.uk/favs/getfavs.php I'm not sure why this file seems to be incorrect, doesnt come up in my RSS reader or render correctly in the browser. Can anyone shed any light on this? If the output is not valid RSS how can I make it so? Secondly I'd like to cache the RSS feed to then use something like Magpie RSS Parser.

Due to some spelling mistakes, exact matching is not possible, so I am trying to use agrep() to fuzzy match names.     My model object (e.g. MyObject) has one property (e.g. color), the "color" property holds a string value which comes from a list of string (e.g. colors=['red','yellow', 'black']). now, I have one instance of myObject get from database and show on the view page in a row, I need to show the 'color' property of myObject in a drop down menu with the current value as the default selected. How to implement this in Rails 3 in my view page.   • Dissapearing object function??

    Is there a reason for object functions to be unset or deleted or simply not applied for any reason at all that isn't intentional? I am maintaining someone elses code and gone through it many times. I use Google Chromes awesome debuger and also TextMate. These help me find the origin of error relatively fast. The problem I have now is that i have an object: types. This object conatains...types. And these types have functions and other variables attached to them. For some reason in the middle of the code, this type has been passed by reference millions of times probably. When it comes to a certain part of the code parts of it, seem to have dissapeared. Puff! And it's gone..! Anyone have a clue (other than it being removed somewhere else earlier in the code, I'm already looking for that)

    I want to use encryption algorithm available in .Net Security namespace, however I am trying to understand how to generate the key, for example AES algorithm needs 256 bits, that 16 bytes key, and some initialization vector, which is also few bytes. Can I use any combination of values in my Key and IV? e.g. all zeros in Key and IV are valid or not? I know the detail of algorithm which does lots of xors, so zero wont serve any good, but are there any restrictions by these algorithms? Or Do I have to generate the key using some program and save it permanently somewhere?

With the newest version this method produces a completely black image. nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colorspace gray -compress group4 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemon.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg nice /usr/local/bin/convert -colors 2 /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontest.jpg /var/www/html/uploads/pokemontestfinal.jpg This results in a bitonal gray and black image, but it's really rough. NOT clean at all.

    Does anyone know how to make a map overlayitem draggable so I can press and hold it and drag it across the map. I am trying to duplicate the draggable icon behavior that's available on the iPhone. One developer suggested a possible solution is to detect a touch event, get rid of the existing overlay item, draw your own copy of the icon where the overlay item had been, manually animate that as the user drags, and then put the overlay item where the user drops it (getting rid of your manually-drawn icon). Does anyone have sample java code to do this Android 2.1? This would be much appreciated.

    Hello, I am designing a web site that plays music. The music player itself will be in a separate window along with the now playing list. I want to be able to refresh the now playing list when a new song is added to it from the main window. Essentially I need to figure out how to communicate between the two windows. I was only able to find one plugin on line that defines the player page as a child of the main page but then this reference would be lost after the parent page i.e my main page was refreshed. So this was not very useful to me and I'm kinda lost atm.     I'd like to define a method that is available in both my views and my models Say I have a view helper: def foo(s) "hello #{s}" end A view might use the helper like this: <div class="data"><%= foo(@user.name) %></div> However, this <div> will be updated with a repeating ajax call. I'm using a to_json call in a controller returns data like so: render :text => @item.to_json(:only => [...], :methods => [:foo]) This means, that I have to have foo defined in my Item model as well: class Item def foo "hello #{name}" end end It'd be nice if I could have a DRY method that could be shared in both my views and my models. Usage might look like this: Helper def say_hello(s) "hello #{s}" end User.rb model def foo say_hello(name) end Item.rb model def foo say_hello(label) end View <div class="data"><%= item.foo %></div> Controller def observe @items = item.find(...) render :text => @items.to_json(:only=>[...], :methods=>[:foo]) end IF I'M DUMB, please let me know.     Hello, I have a ManyToMany relationship between two classes: ClassA and ClassB, but when the table for this relationship (table called objectA_objectB) there is no primary key on it. In my ClassA I have the following: @ManyToMany(fetch=FetchType.LAZY) @OrderBy(value="name") @JoinTable(name="objectA_objectB", joinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectA", referencedColumnName="id"), inverseJoinColumns= @JoinColumn(name="idObjectB", referencedColumnName="id") ) private List<ClassB> objectsB; and in my ClassB I have the reversed relation @ManyToMany List<ClassA> objectsA; I just want to make a primary key of both id's but I need to change the name of the columns as I do. Why is the PK missing? How can I define it? I use JPA 2.0 Hibernate implementation, if this helps. Thanks.

If the answer is yes, where the implementation located? Specifically, assume that I want to add new subclass of "Boolean" called "Other" which will represent a third option: neither true nor false. I want that other, the only instance of Other to be similar to the true/false global singletons. Any ideas? Thank you.
