• sql db problem with windows authentication

  Have a SQL Server 2008 db which I connect to the Windows Authentication .. has worked good for 7-8 months .. but now when I come to work today it no longer worked to connect, without that I had done something Error message was: Can not open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'Jimmy-PC \ Jimmy'. where the first is the computer name and the second is the user. The problem seems to be that it tries to connect to the default database. Have tried to change it without success .. I do not have sql server management tools for sql 2008 but only to 2005, someone who has similar experience? who have not touched anything said over the weekend and it worked last Friday without any problems.

• How to build sqlite for Python 2.4?

  I would like to use pysqlite interface between Python and sdlite database. I have already Python and SQLite on my computer. But I have troubles with installation of pysqlite. During the installation I get the following error message: error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 As far as I understood the problems appears because version of my Python is 2.4.3 and SQLite is integrated in Python since 2.5. However, I also found out that it IS possible to build sqlite for Python 2.4 (using some tricks, probably). Does anybody know how to build sqlite for Python 2.4? As another option I could try to install higher version of Python. However I do not have root privileges. Does anybody know what will be the easiest way to solve the problem (build SQLite fro Python 2.4, or install newer version of Python)? I have to mention that I would not like to overwrite the old version version of Python. Thank you in advance.

• MSI Install Folder Composed with Value from Radio Dialog

  I'm using .NET2, I have an installer project. In the User Interface, I've created a RadioButtons (3 Buttons) dialog box. I've placed it before the Installation Folder Dialog. I wish to incorporate the value selected in the RadioButtons dialog as part of the Installation Folder. To do this I've placed the name of the variable amongst the path where I wish to use it in the DefaultLocation: [ProgramFilesFolder][Manufacturer]\[ProductName]\[BUTTON3] The effect of this is that the default value for the variable, BUTTON3 in the example above, is resolved as part of the folder, not the selected value. Anybody know how to make this variable use delayed expansion in some way to get the selected value?

• Cocoa - How to copy files to /usr/share?

  Hi all. I'm developing an "installation" like cocoa application wich needs to take care of some http request, some file system reading, copying files to /usr/share, set up cron (not launchd) and ask some information to user. I discarded PackageMaker since I need more flexibility. Currently everything is going well, but on my last installation step, I need to: Delete my previously installed application folder (if exists). It's always the same path: /usr/share/MY_APP Create again the application folder at: /usr/share/MY_APP Copy application files to /usr/share/MY_APP Update a cron job It's very important that /usr/share/MY_APP keeps protected with administrative privileges, so a regular shouldn't delete it. What would be the best approach to implement those steps? BTW, I'm using Xcode 3.2. Thanks a lot! Carlos.

• XAMPP or MAMP on Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard)

  I just bought a new MacBook Pro which comes with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (Mac OS X 10.6.2). I am used to using XAMPP as my local development server on XP. Since Mac OS X is based on Unix, I was thinking on activating/installing all the necessary stuff as I would normally do on Linux. However, I am not quite ready to be playing around with the system at this point so having an external package would be a nice temporary solution I think. The question is whether I should go with MAMP or XAMPP. Does anybody have any suggestions? The Pro and Cons I suppose. As far as I know, Mac OS X comes with Apache2 and PHP5. Would MAMP or XAMPP modify the existing Apache and PHP installation? Any comments on how I should proceed? PS: Eventually I would use the default installation of Apache and PHP, and install a binary package of MySQL but time for development is an essence and I don't have time to familiarize myself with Mac OS X.

• WCF Duplex Interaction with Web Server

  Here is my scenario, and it is causing us a considerable amount of grief at the moment: We have a vendor web service which provides base level telephony functionality. This service has a SOAP api, which we are leveraging to build up a custom UI that is integrated into our in house web apps. The api functions on 2 levels. You make standard client calls into the service to initiate actions, such as Login, Place Call, Hang Up, etc. On a different thread, the service sends events back to the client to alert the user of things that are occurring on the system (agent successfully logged in, call was disconnected, etc). I implemented a WCF service to sit between the web server and the vendor service. This WCF service operates in duplex mode, establishing a 2 way connection with the web server. The web server makes outbound calls to the WCF service, which routes them to the vendor's web service. Events are received back to the WCF service, which passes them onto the web server via a callback channel on the WCF client. As events are received on the web server, they are placed into a hash table with the user's name as the key, and a .NET queue as the value to hold the event. Each event is enqueued to the agent who owns it. On a 2 second interval, the web page polls the web server via an ajax request to get new events for the logged in user. It hits the hash table for the user key, dequeues any events that are present, and serializes them back up to the web page. From there, they are processed in order and appropriate messages are displayed to the user. This implementation performs well in a single user scenario. The second I put more than 1 user on the system, I start getting frequent timeouts with the following CommunicationException: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 both servers. Both the web app and WCF service are running on .NET 3.5. The WCF service is running under the net.tcp protocol in duplex mode. The web app is ASP.NET MVC 2. Has anyone dealt with anything like this scenario? Is there a more efficient way (or a widely accepted pattern) to implement this?

• Ruby fixtures error with password column

  I am trying to load a fixture for my tests which has a password column (binary datatype). The tool i am using uses EzCrypto gem for encrypting and decrypting passwords before they are stored/retrieved. Now if my column is binary i thought rails would automatically store the password as encrypted - but all i get is: 1) Error: test_is_working(FirstTest): RuntimeError: Failed to decode the field. • iPhone application launch time guidelines

  Please point me to the iPhone application launch time guidelines. I see that there is a hard limit of ~24 seconds. OS kills application if it did not started in that time with the message: com.bundle.id failed to launch in time There is also a QA article on this. (24 seconds is the time until OS on my phone kills the app.) But I think that there should be a shorter soft limit somewhere in the docs. However, my google-fu failed me and I was not able to find it. Any help?

This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{7CFF842C-7E97-4807-8304-910DD8F7C051}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)) can anyone please help me out to solve this problem. I'm not able to solve this error. this project is working fine in Windows7 but unable to work with XP.

  We maintain a DLL that does a lot of system-related things; traversing the file system, registry, etc. The callers of this DLL may or may not be using impersonation. In order to better support all possible scenarios I'm trying to modify it to be smarter. I'll use the example of deleting a file. Currently we just call DeleteFile(), and if that fails that's the end of that. If that fails with access denied, it temporarily enables privileges in the caller's token and tries again. If that fails with access denied and the caller is impersonating, it temporarily unimpersonates and tries again. If that fails with access denied, it temporarily enables privileges in the process token and tries again. I think this should handle pretty much any situation, but I was wondering if there was a better way to achieve this? There are a lot of operations that we would potentially want to use this method (i.e. pretty much any operation that accesses securable objects).

• Try all available WSDL IPs with JAX-WS

  I'm using JAX-WS to open a service port. When the DNS exposes two IPs for the DNS entry (of the WSDL), the Service tries to use only the first - resulting in a "Failed to access the WSDL at: http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl. It failed with: Connection refused: connect" exception. I've found an issue filed against JAX-WS, but with no resolution. this is the comment that describes my problem best. The code is just a one-liner: Service service = Service.create("http://some.url.com/someDocument?wsdl", engineQName); the smarts is exposing those two A records on http://some.url.com/ at the DNS. • Mandatory profile on Terminal server fails to load. Userenv.log debug

  Hi, We're having a lot of corrupted profiles lately on our profile share. At the moment I have no clue why, but I decided to switch to one mandatory profile since the users can all use the same and there is no need to have seperate profiles for each user. Here's what I did. I logged into the Terminal server with a new user and configured some stuff (imported certificates and a few files). Then I logged out. Later as admin I copied the profile to another server and renamed it to bsilo. I made sure the user hive settings were adjusted. Everyone had access to the hive. I shared the bsilo folder with full access for everyone. I set the NTFS permissions to read, read & execute, list folder contents for domain users. I also renamed NTUSER.DAT to NTUSER.MAN. Now I set a env variable %manprofile% on the Terminal server that points to \server\bsilo\ntuser.man I set the env var as terminal services profile path for a test user. When I log in I as the user get the following output The system cannot find the path specified. Can somebody point me in the right direction.   Hello, we have some installation project in Visual Studio solution (Other project types - Setup and deployment - Setup project). This project have other library type project with Installation class named InstallationCore like project output. In user action I call to Install and Uninstall functions of installer of InstallationCore. InstallationCore has windows forms for interaction with user. There, in forms, I use Drag and Drop functionality for Drag and Drop text from Tree View to Text Box. But in line: txbUserName.AllowDrop = true; I get error of JIT debugger: Unhandled exception has occured DragDrop registration did not succeed System.InvalidOperationException: DragDrop registration did not succeed And long stack trace after that. Important to say, that when I run Installer function from test project the error did not occur and all work fine. Error occurs only when I run the .msi package. Any suggestions? Thank you for ahead.

During installation, DIFXAPP logged "No matching devices found in INF" and simply threw the driver into storage. I read I'm to populate my INF with an appropriate DriverPackageType, but according to MSDN's enumerated list, nothing fits. Is UMDF driver installation a supported scenario? If not, what's the best practice for using WiX to install such drivers? Disassembling the DIfx extension shows intent to support Co-installer packages, I have yet to try 3.5 beta.

• Example of tree.drop_mode with jQuery sortable anywhere

  Hello Everyone, I have a working tree of galleries next to a sortable list of image thumbnails. I've been vainly trying to set up the galleries tree so that users can add images to the galleries by dropping the sortable thumbnails on to the galleries tree. I've been told this requires drop_mode. All efforts to get it to work have failed and I can't really make heads or tails of the drop_mode documentation. I've sought out some working examples via Google of just such an application but have failed. Can anyone point me to a working example of either a draggable or sortable list that successfully drops on to a tree and passes along some parameters between the two? Thanks!
