  Hi, I'm considering developing a school information system using the Grails web framework. Before a school can use the system, they will need to setup the following data School data Students Teachers Subjects Classes etc. I'm considering using a CMS in order to get the ability to CRUD these entities "for free". The CMS may also provide other features out-of-the-box that I could use. Ideally the CMS should be implemented in Java or Groovy, does anyone know of something suitable? I looked at the Weceem CMS plugin for Grails, but it's missing some core concepts I need, e.g. the ability to add users to groups. Thanks, Don

• How do I determine what branch/tag I have checked out in git?

  I clone my source using git clone https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/p/mediawiki/core.git w/. Then I specify a specific branch/tag by doing git checkout <tag name> or git checkout origin/REL<release number>. Sometimes I forget what branch or tag I'm on. In SVN I would do a svn info to figure out what branch/tag I'm using (I realize that git has distinct definitions for branch and tag but for my purposes they are the same). How do I determine what branch/tag I am on?

• How to run a recorded (HTML) selenium test from .NET

  I run Selenium tests with Selenium RC from .NET (c#). In some cases, I would like to keep the test case source as HTML (to be able to modify it from Selenium IDE), but I would like to run/include these tests from my c# unit tests. Maybe it is obvious, but I can't find the API method in the Selenium Core to achieve this. Any idea how to do that? (I think the "includePartial" command in Selenium on Rails does the thing that I would need, but for c#.)

• Quick and dirty way to store NSStrings (or other data) from launch to launch?

  I want to allow my user to store custom phrases, to be displayed in an editable UITableView. What's a quick and dirty to store these strings? I'm fairly new at iPhone development. I know about Core Data, but not how to use it. i would stay away form that just for this particular project if possible. Are PLIST files a possibility here? Sample code is appreciated. Thank you.

  I have a service exposed as WCF via NServiceBus. Ultimately, I'd like to call to this service from silverlight. My WCF Service Interface looks like this: [ServiceContract] public interface ISettingsService { [OperationContract(Action = "http://tempuri.org/IWcfServiceOf_RequestSettingsMessage_SettingsResponseMessage/Process", ReplyAction = "http://tempuri.org/IWcfServiceOf_RequestSettingsMessage_SettingsResponseMessage/ProcessResponse") ] SettingsResponseMessage FetchSettings(RequestSettingsMessage request); } My NSB WCF service is defined as: public class CoreService : WcfService<RequestSettingsMessage, SettingsResponseMessage> { } When I invoke the FetchSettings method on the service, I get an exception: System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'NServiceBus.WcfSer vice`2' threw an exception. ---- System.InvalidOperationException: Centerlink.Services.Core.Msg.Settings.SettingsResponseMessage must be an enum representing error codes returned by the server. It seems that the WcfService< class is restricting the return type of a WCF method to be an enum. How can I have my service return something other than an enum? Do I need to create a custom implementation of NServiceBus.WcfService<?

• Joomla Session Variable as Plugin Parameter

  I have a Joomla plugin which takes varying parameters. I need to retrieve one of these parameters from the current session. I've tried using Jumi and a little PHP snipped to retrieve the value and output it in the plugin's parameter list, but the Joomla plugin parser only handles the outter-most set of curly braces. ex. {fabrik view=table id=62 resetfilters=1 fab_tours_ro___tour_id=[tour_id]} [tour_id] I need to retrieve from the current session. I've tried {fabrik view=table id=62 resetfilters=1 fab_tours_ro___tour_id={jumi [scripts/get_tour_id.php]}} In that case the {jumi} tag never gets parsed. I could hack the {fabrik} plugin, but I'd prefer to do this without making any core or component changes, especially since I update Fabrik quite regularly via svn.

• Accessing a webpage in C++

  Is there a good, simple library which allows C++ to load a webpage? I just want to grab the source as text. I'm not using any IDE or significant library, just straight command line. Tangentially, is there something fundamental I'm missing about programming in C++? I would think any language in common use today would have droves of web-based functionality, being so central to computer usage, but I can find next to no discussion on how to accomplish it. I realise C++ significantly predates the modern internet, so it lacking any core ability in the regard is reasonable, but the fact that relevant libraries seem so sparse is baffling. • Are there issues with tables using an autonumber as a primary key in a back-end ms access db?

  I inherited an MS Access database at my office that is heavily used by several people over the network. This causes many issues with data collisions and locks. I want to split the db so that each user has thier own front-end app and maintain the core data on the server. Several of the tables use an autonumber:sequence:long as thier primary key - in researching how to perform the split I've come across several posts that hint this can cause issues when distributing a database but I haven't been able to find anything solid. The issue seems to be that a user can begin a new record and receive the next autonumber but a second user can create a new record within a short interval and receive the same autonumber resulting in an error? Does Jet handle this correctly or are there autonumber issues with a FE/BE database? If it's an unlikely-but-possile occurance I'm sure it will still be much better than what my users are currently experiencing but I'd like to know if there are ways I can minimize such issues.   I have a small custom module which is supposed to show on all product pages, but it doesn't. It only shows when setting its reference to "content", but I want it to display witin the already existing product view divs, thus, display it within the "product.info" reference.   I am developing a django project. I created some apps, some of those are related to User model, for instance, I have a feeds app that handles user feeds, and another app that deals with extra user data like age, contacts, and friends. for each of these, I created a table that should be connected to the User model, which I using for storing and authenticating users. I found two ways to deal with this issue. One, is through extending User model to be like this: ModelName(User): friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ..... Two, is through adding a foreign key to the new table like this: ModelName(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) friends = friends = models.ManyToMany('self') ...... I can't decide which to use in which case. in other words, what are the core differences between both?

• How do I make log4j create log files on demand only?

  We have a modular application where modules have their own log4j logs (i.e. communication log and error log). The appenders and categories for these are all configured in the core log4j XML, but not all modules are always installed. The DailyRollingFileAppender creates its file regardless of use and that exposes the full set of modules although not present and as some of them are customer specific we'd like to hide logs not in use. Is there a way to make DailyRollingFileAppender create its file on first use instead of automatically at startup?

I'd like to know what runtime/core libraries are used in case we convert ONLY THE APPLICATION to compile using .NET 4.5? Should this scenario properly work? • Strategy for desugaring Haskell

  I'm developing a virtual machine for purely functional programs, and I would like to be able to test and use the the wide variety of Haskell modules already available. The VM takes as input essentially terms in the untyped lambda calculus. I'm wondering what would be a good way to extract such a representation from modern Haskell modules (eg. with MPTC's, pattern guards, etc.). I did a little research and there doesn't seem to be a tool that does this already (I would be delighted to be mistaken), and that's okay. I'm looking for an approach. GHC Core seems too operationally focused, especially since one of the things the VM does is to change the evaluation order significantly. Are there any accessible intermediate representations that correspond more closely to the lambda calculus?

Maybe working off a list of values matching the spec format using some wildcards where neededed? The css to select the correct tag is #list div div div+p or I could just give the p class but would rather not. Is this kind of thing possible?

• Using Subsonic 3.0 With Silverligh

  I am writing a silverlight Line of business application and wanted to use the Subsonic DAL. The Silverlight Project will not allow me to Add the Subsonic reference with the followng error "You can not add the Subsonic.Core.Dll as it was not built against the Silverlight Runtime". I assume that I could create a webservice and add the Subsonic to that, but I would like to just add it to the Silverlight Project. Has anyone done this and if so how. If not is there an easy way to expose the DAL through the Webservice.
