• Override l() function in Drupal

  I'm currently working on a Drupal site (6.*), which when in production mode will be accessed through some kind of http proxy, which means I will have to rewrite all the links for my custom theme if the $_SERVER['HTTP_X_FORWARDED_SERVER'] variable is set to the domain people will access the site from. The site has a lot of internal linking, mostly through Views. My thought is that the easiest way to solve this would be to hook into the url() and/or the l() functions and post process the url before returning it if HTTP_X_FORWARDED_SERVER is set. My problem is that I can't figure out how to hook into these functions, or if it's even possible without touching the core, has anyone had to do this? How did you solve it?

• Using Subsonic 3.0 With Silverligh

  I am writing a silverlight Line of business application and wanted to use the Subsonic DAL. The Silverlight Project will not allow me to Add the Subsonic reference with the followng error "You can not add the Subsonic.Core.Dll as it was not built against the Silverlight Runtime". I assume that I could create a webservice and add the Subsonic to that, but I would like to just add it to the Silverlight Project. Has anyone done this and if so how. If not is there an easy way to expose the DAL through the Webservice.

• What are the likely main reasons my website is very slow on IE?

  Hi, I need to know what can be the main reasons (apart from the basics like grouping CSS selectors, reducing image size, using image sprite etc.) which makes a website slow on Internet Explorer, because my website works fine on the others like FF, chrome etc. Is it the huge use of Javascript framework (ie. jQuery, extjs, prototype)? Is it because of the use of plugins based on JS framework? Should I use core javascript and remove the use of any js framework? Should I try to avoid using jQuery(document).ready()? in case of jQuery framework? Above some of the questions which I know and please answer the questions which I couldn't ask because of lesser knowledge about these. I need to make my website perform well on IE (6,7,8) also please suggest. Thanks

  I'm wondering if anyone out there knows of any T4 template based method interception systems? We are beginning to write mobile applications (currently with MonoTouch for IOS). We have a very nice core set of DI/IoC functionality and I'd like to leverage this in development for the new platform. Since runtime code generation Reflection.Emit is not supported, I'm hoping to use T4 templates to implement the dynamic interception functionality (+ TinyIoC as a container for resolution). We are currently using Castle Windsor (and intend to continue doing so for our SL and full .NET development), but all of the Windsor specific ties are completely encapsulated, so given a suitable T4 solution, it shouldn't be hard to implement an adapter that uses a T4 based implementation instead of Windsor.

  I have tried so many thing but i can't resolve that Error. I can connect with my username and password to: Database in SQLDeveloper, in SQL-Plus, in Server-Explorer (Visual Studio 2008) and all works fine. But if i Compile my Project i get that Error. Why is that? I tried to set case_sensitive to false, but the same error appears. I dont know what else to do.   I would like to update one module in a python package with my own version of the module, with the following conditions: I want my updated module to live outside of the original package (either because I don't have access to the package source, or because I want to keep my local modifications in a separate repo, etc).   Hi all, We are creating three different websites using asp.net but for the user part we want to implement an approach so that each user only need to create an account in any of these three sites but use the same account in other websites too. here is what I've suggested : create a useracount.website.com server then put the sql server there and implement core user account library there such as (creating/editing/etc...) whenever a visitor needs to have an account or needs to login into out sites then we will redirect him to the useracount.website.com address and he/she should login from that point. and for the maintaining the user's states I've suggested to using cookies. and all of these scenarios should be implemented by asp.net and sql. please let me know with best approach cause I feel mine is not that good specially the cookie part. cheers.

  Hej folks, I am working on porting a Text mining/Natural language application from single-core to a Map-Reduce style system. One of the steps involves a while loop similar to this: Queue<Element>; while (!queue.empty()) { Element e = queue.next(); Set<Element> result = calculateResultSet(e); if (!result.empty()) { queue.addAll(result); } } Each iteration depends on the result of the one before (kind of). There is no way of determining the number of iterations this loop will have to perform. Is there a way of parallelizing a serial algorithm such as this one? I am trying to think of a feedback mechanism, that is able to provide its own input, but how would one go about parallelizing it? Thanks for any help/remarks

• Custompage Module-Issue with CSS (Drupal-6.x)

  I'm new to Drupal and have recently installed the custompage module. I received a lot of errors until I placed "custom.tpl.php" in the custompage module folder. I am able to navigate to the custom page from the primary links. But, the CSS I created for that specific page is not showing up. I'm thinking it's because "custom.tpl.php" is located in the module folder of Drupal Core and my CSS is in the theme folder. But I'm not sure how to fix the problem. I tried to copy the "custom.tpl.php" in my themes folder, but then I receive a lot of errors. Any help would be appreciated.

  We are planning to start a fairly complex web-portal which is expected to attract good local traffic and I've been told by my boss to consider/analyse node.js for the serve side. I think scalability and multi-core support can be handled with an Nginx or Cherokee up in the front. 1) Is this node.js ready for some serious/big business? 2) Does this 'event/asynchronous' paradigm on server side has the potential to support the heavy traffic and data operation ? considering the fact that 'everything' is being processed in a single thread and all the live connections would be lost if it got crashed (though its easy to restart). 3) What are the advantages of event based programming compared to thread based style ? or vice-versa. (I know of higher cost associated with thread switching but hardware can be squeezed with event model.) • Should I be using abstract methods in this Python scenario?

  I'm not sure my approach is good design and I'm hoping I can get a tip. I'm thinking somewhere along the lines of an abstract method, but in this case I want the method to be optional.   I have a main site at site.com and several subdirectory "microsites" at site1.site.com, site2.site.com, etc. These are all on the same server. Each site is set up in its own folder under public_html and each with its own separate wordpress install. I'd like for each microsite to share the same top level menu (the page's menu) with the main site. I'm sure there are several approaches and I'd like to ask you for a few ideas. As an aside, I'd also like to ask if the new WordPress 3.0 beta would make this simpler to do (since it combines wordpress MU into the main wordpress core)

• Controlling read and write access width to memory mapped registers in C

  I'm using and x86 based core to manipulate a 32-bit memory mapped register. My hardware behaves correctly only if the CPU generates 32-bit wide reads and writes to this register. The register is aligned on a 32-bit address and is not addressable at byte granularity. What can I do to guarantee that my C (or C99) compiler will only generate full 32-bit wide reads and writes in all cases? For example, if I do a read-modify-write operation like this: volatile uint32_t* p_reg = 0xCAFE0000; *p_reg |= 0x01; I don't want the compiler to get smart about the fact that only the bottom byte changes and generate 8-bit wide read/writes. Since the machine code is often more dense for 8-bit operations on x86, I'm afraid of unwanted optimizations. Disabling optimizations in general is not an option.

It loads everything fine and I can see buttons working in the swf, but I can't seem to figure out how to add children to this swf from the core mxml file. I have tried tracing out all the children of the image component but can't find where or how to do this. • Drupal 6 fails to build menu router and links

  When I enable a new menu in Drupal (for example, mymodule), Drupal should be able to get the menu items from mymodule_menu (hook_menu), process the items and insert the menu items to menu_router and menu_links page. However, my Drupal fails to do so. Each time I enable a module (written by me or modules contributed by others, or core modules), Drupal does not seem to get the new information. The menu items defined in the newly enabled module are not processed and inserted to Drupal's menu system. That means the newly enabled module has no chance to work-- because it's inaccessible. I did fix this by manually insert the menu item information for the new module into the menu_router and menu_links table and the new menu started working. But this is a nightmare if I have to do this each time I enable a module. Any one has ever had the same problem? How to fix this? Thank you in advance.

• Detecting support for a given JavaScript event?

  I'm interested in using the JavaScript hashchange event to monitor changes in the URL's fragment identifier. I'm aware of Really Simple History and the jQuery plugins for this. However, I've reached the conclusion that in my particular project it's not really worth the added overhead of another JS file. What I would like to do instead is take the "progressive enhancement" route. That is, I want to test whether the hashchange event is supported by the visitor's browser, and write my code to use it if it's available, as an enhancement rather than a core feature. IE 8, Firefox 3.6, and Chrome 4.1.249 support it, and that accounts for about 20% of my site's traffic. So, uh ... is there some way to test whether a browser supports a particular event? Thanks.

  I am using tinymce. It works great. But i want the feature in tinymce where user can upload the images from local box/or from public websites. I am using tomcat ,jsps and core java.I found couple of free third party libraries like ibrowser ,imanager,jbimages etc but all of them using PHP which looks like does not fit in my existing project (i dont know PHP but i tried to integrate one of these in my existing project they don't work and gives some weird error.) Really i am not sure how to have this feature in tinymce(if some other editor support it with jsps i can try that)?

• Adding new column in Sales Order View Items in Magento Admin

  In the admin interface of Magento I need to modify the tables in the Sales / Order / View order so that it shows, besides the products name, their manufacturer as well. I'm trying to look for the file to modify to make that happen. I thought I would find a section with all the columns that are displayed in app/code/core/Mage/Sales/Block/Order/Item/Renderer/Default.php but by inspecting it there seem to be no reference to the columns/product attributes. I also tried to modify app/design/adminhtml/default/default/template/sales/order/view/items/renderer/default.phtml by changing <?php echo $this->getColumnHtml($_item, 'name') ?> into <?php echo $this->getColumnHtml($_item, 'manufacturer') ?> but it changed nothing, so I suppose that file is not involved... Can anybody please point me to the right file to modify? Thank you!
