• Core Data Image Won't Load Into NSTableView Image Cell

  In my code I am storing an image into my Core Data model (works fine). If I set up my view to have an NSImageView and bind its Data to Controller Key: selection and modelKeyPath: myImagePath, it works. It will show each image for the selected row. I then create a new column in my NSTableView and drag an image cell onto the column. However, I cannot get my Core Data bindings to have the image show up in the cell. I have tried binding both value and data, but no luck. Since I am sure the image is stored properly, what am I doing wrong in my binding to prevent the image from showing up in the table cell? Thanks so much. (My background: new Cocoa developer who has recently gone through the entire Hillegass book.)

• .NET: will Random.Random operate differently inside a static method

  I am having difficulty with the following code which is inside a static method of a non-static class. int iRand; int rand; rand = new Random((int)DateTime.Now.Ticks); iRand = rand.Next(50000); The iRand number, along with some other values, are being inserted into a new row of an Access MDB table via OLEDB. The iRand number is being inserted into a field that is part of the primary key, and the insert attempt is throwing the following exception even though the iRand number is supposed to be random: System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again. Could the fact the method is static be making the iRand number stay the same, for some reason?

  How can I compute the z-score for matrices in Python? Suppose I have the array: a = array([[ 1, 2, 3], [ 30, 35, 36], [2000, 6000, 8000]]) and I want to compute the z-score for each row. The solution I came up with is: array([zs(item) for item in a]) where zs is in scipy.stats.stats. Is there a better built-in vectorized way to do this? Also, is it always good to z-score numbers before using hierarchical clustering with euclidean or seuclidean distance? Can anyone discuss the relative advantages/disadvantages? thanks.

  Lets say you have a DataTable that has columns of "id", "cost", "qty": DataTable dt = new DataTable(); dt.Columns.Add("id", typeof(int)); dt.Columns.Add("cost", typeof(double)); dt.Columns.Add("qty", typeof(int)); And it's keyed on "id": dt.PrimaryKey = new DataColumn[1] { dt.Columns["id"] }; Now what we are interested in is the cost per quantity. So, in other words if you had a row of: id | cost | qty ---------------- 42 | 10.00 | 2 The cost per quantity is 5.00. My question then is, given the preceeding table, assume it's constructed with many thousands of rows, and you're interested in the top 3 cost per quantity rows. The information needed is the id, cost per quantity. You cannot use LINQ. In SQL it would be trivial; how BEST (most efficiently) would you accomplish it in C# without LINQ?

  Hi All, I've got a method that returns a List for a DataSet table public static List<string> GetListFromDataTable(DataSet dataSet, string tableName, string rowName) { int count = dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows.Count; List<string> values = new List<string>(); // Loop through the table and row and add them into the array for (int i = 0; i < count; i++) { values.Add(dataSet.Tables[tableName].Rows[i][rowName].ToString()); } return values; } Is there a way I can dynamically set the datatype for the list and have this one method cater for all datatypes so I can specify upon calling this method that it should be a List<int or List<string> or List<AnythingILike>?   Hi, I have a module which uses Hibernate as an ORM solution with EHCache as second level cache. I have another seperate module which inserts and updates the database. What I need is to have the ability to trigger an event when a row is inserted or updated. Let's say I have a Customers table and it is mapped to a Customer entity. I want some procedure to notify me that a new Customer has been added. Regarding the second seperate module it uses Hibernate also but at least for the time being they are not connected (I'm pointing this out as if someone thinks that I must share the Hibernate session (or something of the sort) between them then this is something I will consider). Please note that I have limited experience with Hibernate. Thanks in advance

• PHP gallery, thumbnail listing

  Hi everyone, I am planning a dynamic PHP photo gallery and having difficulty deciding on the best way to display the thumbnails after they have been retrieved via MySQL. I considered using an inline unordered list but this resulted in the thumbs being stacked one on top of the other (touching). Also tried a table but not sure how I would start the next row after x number of thumbnails. Any suggestions on page layout for this purpose? I will be using Lightbox to cycle through the photos themselves, that isn't the issue. Also, would a while() loop be best for fetching the list of thumbs and inserting the appropriate HTML? In the grid view I am having following code for columns <Columns> <asp:DynamicField DataField="UserId" UIHint="Label" /> <asp:DynamicField DataField="Address" UIHint="Address"/> <asp:DynamicField DataField="CreatedDate" UIHint="Label" /> </Columns> But, before displaying I want to do some processing in C# code for each row. In normal ASP.net grid view we can handle OnRowDataBound method, and using FindControl("controlid") we can get the control instance, but in case of dynamic data, I am not getting any id attribute for columns, so I am not able to get the control instance to show updated data in that control depending on some conditions.   My main controller is a subclass of UITableViewController with a UIToolBar at the bottom and when a row is selected, I'd like to display another view without the toolbar. How can I hide the UIToolBar in the child view? Right now, it's present throughout all child views unless they're created as modal. • jQuery detect current thumb and scroll jCarousel accordingly

  Another thanks to SLaks for helping me get the code this far. I'm not quite sure if my last step is even possible with the way I have things set up. A live version of the gallery can be seen here: http://www.studioimbrue.com/index2.php Currently, everything works appropriately. The image and its thumbnail are currently tied together, but the jCarousel itself is still independent. I've added nextThumb.closest('.thumbscontainer').jcarousel('next'); so that when you click the large image, the carousel scrolls to the next row, but that doesn't actually follow any logic. What I'm attempting to do is for jQuery to detect how far down the thumbnail is and when to appropriately scroll the carousel. Is this even possible?

How to implement this in Rails 3 in my view page. • How to make an NSOutlineView indent multiple columns?

  What would be the easiest or recommended way for making an NSOutlineView indent multiple columns? By default, it only indents the outline column; and as far as I know there is no built-in support for making it indent other columns. I have an NSOutlineView which shows a comparison between two sets of hierarchical data. For visual appeal, if some item in the outline column is indented, I'd like to indent the item on the same row in another column by the same indentation amount. (There's also a third column which shows the result of comparing the two items, this column should never be indented.) Can this only be achieved by subclassing NSOutlineView? And what would need to be overridden in the subclass? Or is there an easier way to get it to indent multiple columns?

• DataGrid giving error and getting invisible whenever some elements visibility is changed

  I have a datagrid in which i have textblocks as one column.Then in the next column i have progress bar over which there is a textblock.On loading row of datagrid,i add these three into lists of textblock and progressbar.I start the first progress bar and after 15-20 minutes next progress bar is started.The next progress bar is getting started fine and after 20 minutes it is getting invisible.The problem is that if i try to make textblock invisible,then the whole Datagrid gets invisible and stops working.After all the tasks in the Datagrid are complete i need to make DataGrid invisible and also when i try to do so,the grid becomes invisible and no other event gets fired.... e.g List txtlist=new List(); i=1; txtlist[i].Visibility=Visibility.Collapsed;

• DB2 Transaction log is full. How to flush / clear it?

  Hi, I’m working on a experiment regarding to a course I’m taking about tuning DB2. I’m using the EC2 from Amazon (aws) to conduct the experiment. My problem is, however, that I have to test a non-compression against row-compression in DB2 and to do that I’ve created a bsh file that run those experiments. But when I reach to my compression part I get the error ”Transaction log is full”; and no matter how low I set the inserts for it is complaining about my transaction log. I’ve scouted Google for a day now trying to find some way to flush / clear the log or just get rit of it, i don’t need it. I’ve tried to increase the size but nothing has helped. Please, I hope someone has an answer to solve this frustrating problem Thanks - Mestika

  I am binding a table to a gridview in asp.net as such grdIssues.DataSource = mdtIssues; grdIssues.DataBind(); The problem is I cannot then control the column width, asp.net seems to decided on it's own what width each column should be. Methods such as grdIssues.Columns[0].ItemStyle.Width = 100; grdIssues.Columns[1].ItemStyle.Width = 100; don't work because the columns are created dynamically. I cannot believe there isn't a way to do this short of manually creating each column and filling each row. Regards, Bob Avallone

For example, Workbook1 has a single worksheet, Sheet1. I get 2 rows in the DataView, with the TABLE_NAME field being "Sheet1$" and "Sheet1$_". OK, I could use a RowFilter, but wondered whether there was a better way or why this extra row is returned? thanks Richard

• Override default operations order in LINQ

  For one of our applications we do use LINQ to update a few reccords of the database. For business reasons we do require that only one item of a list to be primary. When we designed we decided to fire all of queries at the database at once. The problems occurs when we add one row and update the primary element to be the second item. See, the default behavior for order of operations with LINQ is to Insert, Update, Delete. If I Insert a first element I get a check constraint error with SQL Server. The best in my opinion would be to override and make sure to Update before Insert, this way we make sure that check constraints are kept. Tho there is not a lot of documentation on the mather. Any idea ?

I tried joining to MyTable instead of deleted, but because the insert triger fires after the insert, it ends up inserting the new record into the history table, when I want the original record. How can I do this and still use text columns?
