  • Spring Security RememberMe Services with Session Cookie

    I am using Spring Security's RememberMe Services to keep a user authenticated. I would like to find a simple way to have the RememberMe cookie set as a session cookie rather than with a fixed expiration time. For my application, the cookie should persist until the user closes the browser. Any suggestions on how to best implement this? Any concerns on this being a potential security problem? The primary reason for doing so is that with a cookie-based token, any of the servers behind our load balancer can service a protected request without relying on the user's Authentication to be stored in an HttpSession. In fact, I have explicitly told Spring Security to never create sessions using the namespace. Further, we are using Amazon's Elastic Load Balancing, and so sticky sessions are not supported. NB: Although I am aware that as of Apr. 08, Amazon now supports sticky sessions, I still do not want to use them for a handful of other reasons.   • Pass dataset to subreport with SQL Server Reporting Services

    I'm using SQL Server Reporting Services and the report designer that comes with Visual Studio. I've got a really big report. It's actually so large that Visual Studio hangs (sometimes for hours at a time) or just crashes when I make changes. There is preciously little I can do to solve the problem, so I've decided to just move the bottom half of the report into a sub-report. So, I started with one enormous, unresponsive report and ended with two small, manageable reports -- surprisingly, this actually works. One problem: my subreport uses the same data as my main report. Right now, it populates its dataset by re-querying the database. The extra round-trip to the database causes the report to take twice as long to generate; up from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours to generate. I'd like to avoid hitting the database again, and instead use the same dataset in both reports. How can I share or pass a dataset between a report and subreport?

  • Question about using ServiceModelEx's "WCFLogbook" from "Programming WCF Services" book

    I am attempting to compile/run a sample WCF application from Juval Lowy's website (author of Programming WCF Services & founder of IDesign). Of course the example application utilizes Juval's ServiceModelEx library and logs faults/errors to a "WCFLogbook" database. Unfortunately, when the sample app faults, I get the following new error: "Cannot open database "WCFLogbook" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'Bill-PC\Bill'." I suspect the error occurs as a result of not finding the "WCFLogbook" database, which I believe still needs to be created. Included in the library source directory, there are two files -WCFLogbookDataSet.xsd and WCFLogbook.sql; which neither seem to be referenced anywhere within the library code. This leads me to beleive that the sql and xsd files are there to be used to create the database somehow in SQL. Could someone please advise me if I am going in the correct direction here and if whether these files can be used to create the database (and if so, how)?

  • WCF Ria Services Error : Load operation failed for query 'GetTranslationProgress'

    Hello, I am using WCF Ria Services beta in my silverlight application. I have a long running task on the server which keeps writing its status to a database table. I have a "GetTranslationProgress" Ria Service Query method which queries the state to get the status. This query method is called continuously at a regular interval of 5 seconds until a status = Finished or Error is retrieved. In some cases if the task on the server is running for a long duration 2-3 minutes then I receives this error:- Load operation failed for query 'GetTranslationProgress'. The server did not provide a meaningful reply; this might be caused by a contract mismatch, a premature session shutdown or an internal server error. at System.Windows.Ria.OperationBase.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.LoadOperation.Complete(Exception error) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.CompleteLoad(IAsyncResult asyncResult) at System.Windows.Ria.DomainContext.<c_DisplayClass17.b_13(Object ) The error occurs intermittently and I have no idea what could be causing this error. I have checked most of the forums and sites but I have not been able to find out any solution to this issue. Please help.

  • Reading audio with Extended Audio File Services (ExtAudioFileRead)

    I am working on understanding Core Audio, or rather: Extended Audio File Services Here, I want to use ExtAudioFileRead() to read some audio data from a file. This works fine as long as I use one single huge buffer to store my audio data (that is, one AudioBuffer). As soon as I use more than one AudioBuffer, ExtAudioFileRead() returns the error code -50 ("error in parameter list"). As far as I can figure out, this means that one of the arguments of ExtAudioFileRead() is wrong. Probably the audioBufferList. I can not use one huge buffer because then, dataByteSize would overflow its UInt32-integer range with huge files.     I'm attempting to include an install of SQL Server 2008 Express w/Adv. Services with an installation package, but am having a heck of a time getting the installation to complete. Typically, this installation will take place on brand-new servers that get shipped to new customers, but this won't always be the case: Sometimes, the installation will take place on machines already in use, and so I've been told the installer has to work for XP x86 and x64 and Win 7 x32 and x64. The command line I'm passing in is: setup.exe /ACTION=INSTALL /INSTANCENAME="MSSQLSERVER" /HIDECONSOLE /QS /FEATURES="SQLENGINE" "REPLICATION" "FULLTEXT" "RS" "BIDS" "SSMS" "SNAC_SDK" "OCS" /SECURITYMODE=SQL /SAPWD="aStrongPassword" /NPENABLED=1 /TCPENABLED=1 /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="%USERDOMAIN%\Administrator" SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT AUTHORITY\Network Service" (This is only my most recent attempt, in which I used a SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS value that I saw in a posting elsewhere on this site.   • Titanium Appcelerator - After enabling cloud services I get UnicodeDecodeError when compiling for Android

    I've got an app that has a UTF8 name (hebrew). I use the platform/android/AndroidManifest.xml file for this. I've managed to narrow it down to the Ti.cloudpush module. only when I enable this module I get the error.   • Custom Calculations in a Matrix - Reporting Services 2005

    I am writing a report to show gas usage (in gallons) used by each department. The request is to view each month and the gallons used by each department. A column is required to display what each departments target goal is, based on the gallons of gas they have used in a past time frame. Each departments target goal is x percent less than the total gallons used for said time frame. I currently have a matrix in Reporting Services with departments making up rows, months making up columns, and gallons filling the details. The matrix is being filled by dataset1. I have the data grouping as is requested for each month by each department. My problem is calculating the target goal. My thought was to create a second dataset (dataset2) that returns the gallons used based on the time frame requested. I grouped this data by department. I was hoping I could use the department field in each dataset to make sure the appropriate numbers were used. I added a new column which shows up next to the gallons field. As I attempted to build the Expression I found out that I could only grab the gallons used from dataset2 if I was summing the gallons field. This gives me the total gallons used by every department combined. I have tried to find resources with similar examples of what I am trying to accomplish but I cannot seem to come across one. I am trying to keep this as detailed as possible without making it too wordy. I would be more than happy to clarify or explain into further detail what I have written above if it is needed. If anyone has links, comments, or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. A very simple visual or what I am hoping to accomplish is below.     I know that with Network Load Balancing and Failover Clusteringwe can make passive services highly available. But what about active apps? Example: One of my apps retrieves some content from a external resource in a fixed interval. I have imagined the following scenarios: Run it in a single machine. Problem: if this instance falls, the content won't be retrieved Run it in each machine of the cluster. Problem: the content will be retrieved multiple times Have it in each machine of the cluster, but run it only in one of them. Each instance will have to check some sort of common resource to decide whether it its turn to do the task or not. When I was thinking about the solution #3 I have wondered what should be the common resource. I have thought of creating a table in the database, where we could use it to get a global lock. Is this the best solution? How does people usually do this? By the way it's a C# .NET WCF app running on Windows Server 2008

    I have a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services Project. In the Data Source View I have a Named Query which references a single Data Source containing three tables. The Project processes successfully and the cube can be browsed. I recently added a second Data Source to the Data Source View and linked a table to the original Named Query. When I try to process the project, I get the message: OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: The OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10.1" has not been registered.; 42000. The Connection String for both Data Sources uses SQLNCLI10.1

This means that if you select the third row on page 1 and move to page 2, nothing is selected on page 2. When you move back to page 1, the third row is still selected. Data Control Selection Feature In ASP.NET 3.5 SP1: The Persisting Row Selection was initially supported only in Dynamic Data projects Data Control Selection Feature In ASP.NET 4.0: Persisted selection is now supported for the GridView and ListView controls in all projects.     I'm setting up a new terminal server for our users on Win2008R2 (I guess I should call it Remote Desktop Services now!) When I try to change the location of "Documents" (by removing the default Documents library and adding a new one), to use the file server ie \\fileserver\username\Documents I get the message: "This network location can't be included because it is not indexed" I certainly don't want to make folders available offline, and in fact, I have set the GPO to prohibit offline folders on the terminal servers. What is the best practice for document libraries on terminal server and network file shares?

  • Error 0x6ba (RPC server is unavailable) when running sfc /scannow on Windows XP in Safe Mode

    I think that my mup.sys file is corrupt. I received the following error when trying to access a network share that was located on my Windows 7 box, from my Windows XP box: No network provider accepted the given network path. After reading this I attempted to follow the directions by rebooting my computer into safe mode. After I run "sfc /scannow" I receive the following error message: The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable]. When I go into Services, it says that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service is running but that the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator is not running. When I try to start the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator, it gives me an error saying: Error 1084: This service cannot be started in Safe Mode What can I do about this? If it can't find the Remote Procedure Call service in safe mode?

    I'm noticing that I get accesses 66.249.66.198 - - [01/Jul/2011:17:13:46 +0200] "GET /img/clip.incubus.torrent.phtml HTTP/1.1" 404 143 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)" 66.249.66.198 - - [01/Jul/2011:17:13:48 +0200] "GET /img/clip.global.deejays.download.phtml HTTP/1.1" 404 143 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)" that files don't exist and there is no file on my site that has this content (I hope). Why is googlebot trying out these links? reverse dns and whois state that 66.249.66.198 is really googlebot.
