To what extent does this mean I can't use the name of Bcrypt.Net? For instance, could I say "the only ASP.Net authentication library capable of using Bcrypt" or can I even include "supports Bcrypt for password hashing" in promotional materials? • PyGame QIX clone, filling areas

  I'm playing around with PyGame. Now I'm trying to implement a QIX clone. I have my game loop, and I can move the player (cursor) on the screen. In QIX, the movment of the player leaves a trace (tail) on the screen, creating a polyline. If the polyline with the screen boundaries creates a polygon, the area is filled. How I can accomplish this behaviour ? How store the tail in memory ? How to detect when it build a closed shape that should be filled ? I don't need an exact working solution, some pointers, algo names would be cool.

  I'm building a website for an au pair agency business that will connect au pairs to families around Europe. I know nothing about website building, HTML etc. so I'm using a wysiwyg editer (weebly). How I would like the site to function: Families upload their information into profiles Au pairs do the same families can view a limited part of an au pairs' profile until they pay a deposit After deposit is payed, all au pairs' profile information becomes open to families Families can order au pairs and confirm their order with another payment payment must be made before 'order' is confirmed By 'order' I mean full communications become open between the family and the au pair they have 'ordered' as well as travel information being sent to another agency the site needs to be linked with a bank account (e.g paypal) and another agency, who will look after the flight bookings etc. A website already exists for this business however it just contains information on the business and application forms - if the site becomes fully automated it will relieve a lot of strain on administration in the office (dealing with applications, travel information etc.)

• Buying a parked domain if the contact email bounces

  I'm trying to buy a domain which is parked, but the contact email address listed on the page itself bounces. I looked up the WHOIS data and there are no email addresses or phone numbers listed. There are way too many hits on facebook / linkedin to try just searching for the name. What recourses do I have to try to get into contact with the owner? UPDATE: Hosted on the same IP are 206 identical "parked" pages, whose sole difference is the domain and the email address (always "info@[domain].it"): http://www.bing.com/search?q=ip%3A151.1.48.220 Whois info shows contact information for none (that I sampled) but all with different names o_O

• How do walls affect lighting?

  I have been trying to implement a simple form of lighting in my 2D game. In the screenshot, I don't think it looks very good, kind of just plastered over the top of the map. How would the wall effect how the lighting is displayed? Just looking for tips on how to make my lighting look a bit better.   In case a person has many different social network profiles, what is the proper way of referring to those profiles in a work that is meant to be printed or may be viewed as an image? For example one owns the username "CoolCompany" on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other websites. Should they provide a URL for each profile? for example: Facebook.com/CoolCompany Twitter.com/CoolCompany ... I often notice that in videos or on TV people may only use the logos but I believe it is not very useful, specially in case that the audience are unfamiliar with a social network... Is it acceptable to provide the logos or names of the networks and mention the username only once like this: Facebook & Twitter: @CoolCompany Or Facebook & Twitter: /CoolCompany

I can display this list in a datagrid, table etc. (Imagine this as a standard shopping basket type scenario) What I need to do is be able to tick multiple items (?) , then on clicking a submit button, fire an action.   We're trying to come up with terms that better describe our bugs/defects. To us, the term 'bug' or 'defect' is too generic and doesn't accurately reflect what is happening. For example, instead of saying that there is a bug (in the general sense), we'd rather say what type of bug (an error, or enhancement, or improvement, etc.). • Best practices when loading images for improving page loading speed

Here are some analytics: Notice how the images, although only accounting for 65% of the total size (1.1MB), are by far the slowest loading assets: 96% of time. I'd like to know which are the recommended practices on optimizing loading speed, only taking images into account. Some of the techniques we are already applying: image compression images hosted on cookieless domain and CDN spriting everything that can be sprited http headers: keep alive and Expires to one year. • How to configure apache / php / postfix website emails when using vhosts?

  I have a LAMP webserver configured to serve multiple websites. Each virtual host has various PHP applications, mainly Wordpress. When users sign up to the Wordpress sites, email is sent by PHP through to postfix, and then on to the receiver. The problem is that postfix is identifying itself to the remote server with the contents of /etc/hostname, which is not a fully qualified domain name. Some mail servers reject this and the mail bounces. Additionally, the return path is being set to one of the vitual host domains, seemingly at random. I could set /etc/hostname to one of the website domain names, but then the emails from the other websites would have a wrong server in the headers, and this would not fix the return-path issue. Possibly related, apache2 says "could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name" on startup. How do I fix this so that each website can send email without revealing the other websites hosted on the server?

• GA UA codes for testing site - set up

  Anyone know the process for using a GA live UA code to test a site in development. I.e. I have a live site with a GA UA code attached, tracking live traffic data etc e.g. UA-123456. I've been told that there is a way to produce another code associated to the primary code to use on the testing version of my live site e.g. test code could be UA-123457. Can anyone shed some light on this? If not possible should I just set up a completely separate GA account for my testing site?

• How to hide (in Thunar and Nautilus) a directory without putting a dot in its name?

  Usually Linux programs store user's settings in ~/.* directories. But unfortunately some developers (of some applications I need) do not follow this rule and don't start their settings storage folders names with a dot. This results in never-user-used folders cluttering (not the right word perhaps, as there are not many, but they annoy anyway) a home directory. Renaming them is not an option, as the applications won't find them in this case (and will create them again). Is there a way to hide a folder having no dot starting its name from being displayed in common file system browsers (I actually use Thunar of XFCE, alongside with Midnight Commander and Krusader, but wouldn't mind to know about Nautilus too).

• Tracking unique views for a site showing my advertisements [on hold]

  I am in trouble. I placed and advertisement on a website in 2012. The website said they got 950,000 unique visits each month. Early in 2012 I advertised with them. The advertisement didn't worked out. I checked in 2-3 months time and I saw that the unique visitors on the site was 8,000 at that time. I immediately closed the account. I don't remember which site I used to check the unique visitors. The advertising company has filed a dispute against me. So is there any tool that can show me the 2012 stats for any website? I tried Google Trends but it doesn't show statistics.

• How to import .m3u playlist

  I exported my my iTunes playlists to .m3u files before I got rid of Win7 completely. Now I would like to import the playlists into Rhythmbox, but can't. My playlists contain windows filenames (e.g. D:\music....) instead of linux filenames (e.g. /mnt/music....). The music is still stored on the exact same disk and folder as it was under windows. I need a script to convert the file names, can anyone help?

  I have seen a couple of site which has high number of hits. They are mostly tutorial sites and blogs that address software issue/errors. I wonder if the kewybord "blog" has a very positive effect in SEO? In my own site, I have install word press in root folder to avoid any blog keyword. I also did this to keep urls shallow (deeper url are not good for SEO). But I may want to think on it again. The sites I am referring too are http://blog.sqlauthority.com http://veerasundar.com/blog/2011/11/making-xampp-to-serve-any-directory-outside-htdocs/ I know there are standard (sort of) class names or ID that identify different contents and makes it easier for the search engine to identify contents like, "container", "menu". The use of word "blog" would mean this is about dicussing/tutoring something and have a very positive effect on SEO?

• Can someone explain to me C#'s coding convention?

  I recently started working with Unity3D and primarily scripting with C#. As, I normally program in Java, the differences aren't too great but I still referred to a crash course just to make sure I am on the right track. However, My biggest curiosity with C# is that is capitalises the first letter its method names (eg. java: getPrime() C#: GetPrime() aka: Pascal Case?). Is there a good reason for this? I understand from the crash course page that I read that apparently it's convention for .Net and I have no way of ever changing it, but I am curious to hear why it was done like this as opposed to the normal (relative?) camel case that, say, Java uses. Note: I understand that languages have their own coding conventions (python methods are all lower case which also applies in this question) but I've never really understood why it isn't formalised into a standard.

  I am planning to move several websites to a new hosting provider - keeping the same URL but will resolve to different IP addresses. For example, some sites are Canadian content-only sites, hosted on .CA domains sitting on Canadian IP addresses. I want to move these to Amazon servers which have US IP addresses. The domain names will remain the same. (1) What is the SEO impact of this? (2) Will the site lose some ranking if the sites are moved to a new IP address (Canadian or not), and if so, what is the cleanest way of accomplishing this (some kind of 301's)?

• What do I do if a user uploads child pornography?

  If my website allows uploading images (which are not moderated), what action do I take if a user uploads child pornography? I already make it easy to report images, and have never had this problem before, but am wondering what the appropriate response is. My initial thought is to: Immediately delete (not just make inaccessible) the image File a report with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with all information I have on the user (IP, URL, user-agent, etc.), identifying myself as the website operator and providing contact information Check any other images uploaded by that IP user and prevent them from uploading in the future (this is impossible, but I can at least block their account). This seems like a good way to be responsible in reporting, but does this satisfy all of my legal and moral responsibilities? Would it be better not to delete the image and to just make it inaccessible, so that it can be sent to the National Center for Missing & Exploted Children, the police, FBI, etc?
