• using PixelBender to double the size of a bitmap

  I have a performance question about pixel bender. I want to enlarge many BitmapData (double their size into new BitmapData). I was doing this with as3, but wanted to use pixel bender to get better performance. On my machines, I get great comparative performance out of many pixel bender demonstrations. To my surprise (or bad coding / understanding), I am getting much worse performance out of pixel bender -- 2 seconds to do 3000 scalings vs .5 seconds! I expected to get at least the same performance as as3. What am I doing wrong? • Why do jQuery fadeIn() and fadeOut() seem quirky in this example?

  I've been playing with jQuery in an ASP.NET project and am finding some odd behavior with the .fadeIn() and fadeOut() functions. In the below example, a click on the button (ID Button1) is supposed to cause both the span of text with ID Label1 and the the button with the ID TextBox1 to do the following things: Fade Out Change the text of both the text box and the span of text to be You clicked the button Fade In Based on the browser I'm using, I get 3 different scenarios, and each element functions differently in each situation. Here's what happens when I actually click the button: TextBox1: In IE8, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in In IE8 Compatibility View, the text box fades out, changes text, then fades back in. However, the text in the box looks a little different than before the button was clicked. In FireFox 3.5.8, the text box doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. Label1: In IE8, the label doesn't fade out (but it does "pause" for the amount of time the fade would take), does change the text, then seems to "pause" again where it would be fading in. In IE8 Compatibility View, the label does fade out, change text, and fades back in, but the text looks a little different than before the button was clicked. • Trouble with detecting gestures over ListView

  I have an Activity that contains a ViewFlipper. The ViewFlipper includes 2 layouts, both of which are essentially just ListViews. So the idea here is that I have two lists and to navigate from one to the other I would use a horizontal swipe. I have that working. However, what ever list item your finger is on when the swipe begins executing, that item will also be long-clicked. • .NET Programmatically invoke screenclick doesn't work?

  I'm trying to programmatically invoke an onclick event however the click is not received/handled. Am I missing something, or is security preventing the click to be executed? I have a forms application which is invisible. Basically I would like to say: DoDoubleClick(wait, x, y) This should raise two click (mousedown+mouseup) events on screen with the specified wait interval. However the click isn't received in a Flash application in Firefox (which is running at that moment). • Dispatcher Timer Problem

  I am trying to make a game in silverlight that also has widgets in it. To do this I am using a dispatcher timer running a game loop that updates graphics etc. In this I have a variable that has to be accessed by both by the constantly running game loop and UI event code. At first look it seemed that the gameloop had its own local copy of currentUnit (the variable), despite the variable being declared globally. I am trying to update currentUnit with an event by the widget part of the app, but the timer's version of the variable is not being updated. What can I do get the currentUnit in the gameloop loop to be updated whenever I update currentUnit via a click event? • Need help displaying a dynamic table

  I am designing a job rota planner for a company and need help displaying a dynamic table containing the staff details. I have the following tables in MySQL database: Staff, Event, and Job. The staff table holds staff details (staffed, name, address...etc), the Event table (eventide, eventName, Fromdate, Todate...etc) and the Job table holds (Jobid, Jobdate, Eventid(fk), Staffid (fk)). I need to dynamically display the available staff list from the staff table when the user selects the EVENT and the DATE (3 drop downs: date, month, and year) from a PHP form. I need to display staff members that have not been assigned work on the selected date by checking the Jobdate in the Job table. I have been at this for all day and can't get around it. I am still learning PHP and would surely appreciate any help I can get. • infoWindow position and click/unclick controls - controlling KML groundoverlays

  I've made a lot of progress on this project (with earlier help with forum member Eric Badger, thanks!!) but I now need help with fine-tuning the infoWindow. Presently, you checkbox one of the historic maps choices -- the map appears as a ground overlay, and if you click it, you get info about the map which appears in a div (yellow area at the bottom). I want the info to appear in a more traditional window on the map, just to the center-right of the overlay map. It should have a close-option (X at the top corner?) Also, if you uncheck one of the boxes -- the overlay map disappears but the info window should close as well.  As you see my javascript skills are very limited. I would very much appreciate your help with this. Expected result: EventSource opens a stream connection to the server, the server keeps it open for a safe time (say, 2 minutes) so that I am protected from thread leaking from dead clients, as new message events are received by the server (and enqueued to a thread safe collection such as BlockingCollection) they are pushed in the open stream to the client: message 1 received at T+0ms, pushed to the client at T+x message 2 received at T+200ms, pushed to the client at T+x+200ms Actual behaviour: EventSource opens a stream connection to the server, the server keeps it open until a message event arrives (thanks to long polling) once a message is received, MVC pushes the message and closes the connection. EventSource has to reopen the connection and this happens after a couple of seconds. message 1 received at T+0ms, pushed to the client at T+x message 2 received at T+200ms, pushed to the client at T+x+3200ms This is not OK as it defeats the purpose of using SSE as the clients start again reconnecting as in normal polling and message delivery gets delayed. Now, the question: is there a native way to keep the connection open after sending the first message and sending further messages on the same connection?

I am really intrigued with how Facebook in particular is able to query and return matches of not just users but also pages, ads etc row after row.   I am an amateur coder and I have a small problem. My goal is to have one text input with two buttons. The first button uses a bit of Javascript called SundayMorning to translate the text (to Chinese) The second button submits the text to a URL. The URl requires that Chinese text be encoded it in GBK2312 character set. I have duct taped together various found code to the result I have now. Due to the finicky behavior of the SundayMorning Javascript, my solution is to have two input boxes, the second of which I will hide. Right now, this doesn't work: I am unable to encode the Chinese in GBK2312, no matter what I try. BONUS CONUNDRUM: The second box copies my input letter by letter as I type, but does not copy the Chinese translation that the Javascript returns. Sorry for my janky amateur code. • Spring Framework 3 and session attributes

  I have form object that I set to request in GET request handler in my Spring controller. First time user enters to page, a new form object should be made and set to request. If user sends form, then form object is populated from request and now form object has all user givern attributes. Then form is validated and if validation is ok, then form is saved to database. If form is not validated, I want to save form object to session and then redirect to GET request handling page. When request is redirected to GET handler, then it should check if session contains form object.   I have implemented an IHttpAsyncHandler. I am making about 5 different AJAX calls from a webpage that has widgets to that handler. One of those widgets takes about 15 seconds to load(because of a large database query) the others should all load in under a second. The handler is responding in a synchronous manner. I am getting very inconsistent results. The ProcessRequest method is using Session and other class level variables. Could that be causing different requests to use the same thread instead each there own? I'm getting this... Request1 --- response 1 sec Request2 --- response 14 sec Request3 --- response 14.5 sec Request4 --- response 15 sec Request5 --- response 15.5 sec but I'm looking for something more like this... Request1 --- response 1 sec Request2 --- response 14 sec Request3 --- response 1.5 sec Request4 --- response 2 sec Request5 --- response 1.5 sec Without posting too much code my implementation of the IHttpAsyncHandler methods are pretty standard. private AsyncProcessorDelegate _Delegate; protected delegate void AsyncProcessorDelegate(HttpContext context); IAsyncResult IHttpAsyncHandler.BeginProcessRequest(HttpContext context, AsyncCallback cb, object extraData) { _Delegate = new AsyncProcessorDelegate(ProcessRequest); return _Delegate.BeginInvoke(context, cb, extraData); } void IHttpAsyncHandler.EndProcessRequest(IAsyncResult result) { _Delegate.EndInvoke(result); } Putting a debug break point in my IHttpAsyncHandler.BeginProcessRequest method I can see that the method isn't being fired until the last Process is complete. Also my machine.config has this entry... processModel autoConfig="true" with no other properties set. What else do I need to check for?

• GridView row remove and animation - Android

  I have a GridView in which each row has a custom view. The grid view adapter has an array that keeps the custom view. At click of a button, I want to remove a specific row from the Grid and while doing so I want animation on it. I have an AnimationListener. When I remove the upper most row from the array and setAdapter in onAnimationEnd(). It works perfectly fine. But, when I remove any other row, it gives a NullPointerException in the main thread. • Biztalk Server 2009 - Failover Clustering and Network Load Balancing (NLB)

  Hi, We are planning a Biztalk 2009 set up in which we have 2 Biztalk Application Servers and 2 DB Servers (DB servers being in an Active/Passive Cluster). All servers are running Windows Server 2008 R2. As part of our application, we will have incoming traffic via the MSMQ, FILE and SOAP adapters. We also have a requirement for High-availability and Load-balancing. Let's say I create two different Biztalk Hosts and assign the FILE receive handler to the first one and the MSMQ receive handler to the second one. I now create two host instances for each of the two hosts (i.e. one for each of my two physical servers). After reviewing the Biztalk Documentation, this is what I know so far: For FILE (Receive), high-availablity and load-balancing will be achieved by Biztalk automatically because I set up a host instance on each of the two servers in the group. MSMQ (Receive) requires Biztalk Host Clustering to ensure high-availability (Host Clustering however requires Windows Failover Clustering to be set up as well). No loading-balancing option is clear here. SOAP (Receive) requires NLB to achieve Load-balancing and High-availability (if one server goes down, NLB will direct traffic to the other). This is where I'm completely puzzled and I desperately need your help: Is it possible to have a Windows Failover Cluster and NLB set up at the same time on the two application servers? If yes, then please tell me how. If no, then please explain to me how anyone is acheiving high-availability and load-balancing for MSMQ and SOAP when their underlying prerequisites are mutually exclusive!
