• Dinamically creating a member ID card as pdf using PHP?

  I need to code a PHP script that would let me generate a pdf file which displays a member ID card (something like a credit card used to identify oneself) at a certain resolution. Let me explain: I do have the basic blueprint of the card in png file format. The script needs to drop in a member's name and birth day along with a serial. So far, no problem - there are plenty of good working PHP librarys out there. My problem is to ensure that the resulting pdf (the generated image of the card, to be precise) meets a certain resolution (preferably 300dpi), so that printing it would look right. Any ideas?   I know I'm able to this in PHP, but I can't remember the name or the way to do it, so I'll just explain what it is, and when someone tells me how it's called I'll update this question. I have some error messages defined as constants on javascript, however, some of those messages need to contain dynamic part as in the following example. "The username must be between 4 and 20 characters" In php, If I'm not mistaken there was some option for storing that string in a way that when called it would replace the variables with the data provided on the call. I want to do that on javascript, something like: config['string',vars] And have javascript insert those vars inside the string so it's customized. Wow, this must be the worst question I've made! I'm sorry for the lack of information, I'm kinda braindead on Sundays.

• Displaying webcam feed using opencv and python

  Hi ive been trying to create a simple program with python which utilises opencv to get a video feed from my webcam and display it on the screen. I know im partly there because the window is created and the light on my webcam flicks on, but it just doesnt seem to show anything in the window. hopefully someone can explain what im doing wrong. import cv cv.NamedWindow("w1", cv.CV_WINDOW_AUTOSIZE) capture = cv.CaptureFromCAM(0) def repeat(): frame = cv.QueryFrame(capture) cv.ShowImage("w1", frame) while True: repeat() on an unrelated note, i have noticed that my webcam sometimes changes its index number in cv.CaptureFromCAM and sometimes i need to put in 0, 1 or 2 even though i only have one camera connected and i havnt unplugged it (i know because the light doesnt come on unless i change the index). is there a way to get python to determine the correct index? thanks Mitch

  Hi, My understanding of basic BFS traversal for a graph is: BFS { Start from any node . Add it to que. Add it to visited array While(que is not empty) { remove head from queue. Print node; add all unvisited direct subchilds to que; mark them as visited } } However, if we have to traverse a DIRECTED graph from a given node and not all nodes are accessible from the given node [directly or indirectly] how do we use BFS for the same. Can you please explain in this graph as well: a= b = d = e = d a= c = d Here if the starting node is b , we never print a and c. Am I missing something in the algorithm. P.S: I used "HashMap adj = new HashMap();" to create the adjacencey list to store graph Any pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  hi, I m stuck in a really simple problem. And i m afraid my question might annoy some people. The problem i am facing in short is that i want to add UITabBar Control to my iphone application other than the main screen. Let me explain, I have done everything successfully Added UItabbar control from IB in the main window's xib, added a variable at the back end , associated it by dragging the line. Also added a UIWindow variable and wrote these lines . [window addSubview:tabBarController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; when i launch the application a blank window appears and tab bar shows on its bottom. But the problem i dont want to add it to a particular window which is inside my app. Its no the first screen of my app. Its actually the 3rd screen of my app. Can anybody help ? thanks Taimur

  Hi we are developing a skinned application, and under vista/windows 7, on some machines, skinned applications sometimes loses their skin. here's an example for the problem, and here's how the application looks when it's good. this happens to us whether we develop with native Win32 API or in QT. It happens spontanously, with no event that might explain it. btw, we see it happens sometimes to some other applications, too we solve it by repainting everything every 2-3 seconds. but this is an ugly hack... any ideas why this could happen? thanks _very_much_ for any lead - Lior

  This is a little hard to explain with text, but I'll do my best, and you try to keep up; if something isn't clear at first, don't hesitate to ask, and I'll try to clarify. When TortoiseGit has one branch it looks approximately like this: o | o <-- a commit sign | x When I split my work into a new branch, it looks like this: o | o--o | x when I split, from the master to another new branch it looks like this: o--o | o--o | x Is there a way for every new branch that I make, and work on, to have its own "line" ... what I mean: o-----o | o--o | x so they don't "vertically overlap". So that every branch, has its own vertical line I can follow (for some reason this looks rather confusing to me, the way it's done now). Do any other Git clients for Windows do this differently ?

  I'd like to implement a rolling graph showing new users by day over the last 7 days using Seer. I've got an array of the Users I want to plot: @users = User.all( :conditions = {:created_at = 7.days.ago..Time.zone.now}) Can't see the right way to implement the :data_method to roll them up by created_at date. Anyone done this or similar with Seer? Anyone smarter than me able to explain this after looking at the Seer sample page (linked above)?

• Why does DataSet.HasChanges() return true if called in the same function as change but false otherwi

  Assuming that the buttons are being clicked in order, the following code modifies row 1 in a .net DataSet, then row 0. HasChanges returns true, but GetChanges only gives me the change for row 0. If I comment out the line in the button2 click event that modifies row 0, then HasChanges returns false. Can anyone explain to me why HasChanges() and GetChanges() only return true when they are called in the same function as the change to the DataSet? • Debug.WriteLine not working

  In the past, perhaps versions of Visual Studio prior to the 2008 that I am using now, I would do something like this in my VB.NET code: System.Diagnostics.Debug.WriteLine("Message") ..and the output would go to the output window. Now it doesn't. Something must first apparently be enabled. If this involves "attaching a debugger", please explain how to do it. It seems to me that it should just work without too much of a fuss.   I can access and show self.view and see the frame in the log but when I try to access self.view.frame I get null.   Hi What was that "wpf trigger events after a few Milli-seconds" ;) Let me explain about that: I have a wpf form with few controls. some of these control over-writing template. for example a textblock with an effect will be trigger on Mouse-Enter event and change color of foreground to something else. But after running program when mouse enter on textBloc, it takes a few Milli-seconds until Mouse-enter event triggers. also all control or better say all control which use mouse-events have this problem. How solve this problem???

  Hi all! I'm trying to write an evaluation function for a game of checkers that I'm developing but I can't find the right documentation. I've read several documents on the web witch describe different techniques for either writing one or letting the computer find it(using genetic algorithms or Bayesian learning) but they're too complicated for a novice like me. All documents pointed a reference to "Some studies in machine learning using the game of checkers" by A.L.Samuel but I couldn't get my hands on it yet :(. I've only read the follow up "Some studies in machine learning using the game of checkers -II" and found some good info there, but it doesn't explain what the eval parameters mean (I think I don't have the whole article). • How do I embed an expect script that takes in arguments into a bash shell script?

  I am writing a bash script which amongst many other things uses expect to automatically run a binary and install it by answering installer prompts. I was able to get my expect script to work fine when the expect script is called in my bash script with the command "expect $expectscriptname $Parameter". However, I want to embed the expect script into the shell script instead of having to maintain two separate script files for the job. I searched around and found that the procedure to embed expect into bash script was to declare a variable like VAR below and then echo it.: VAR=$(expect -c " #content of expect script here ") echo "$VAR" 1) I don't understand how echoing $VAR actually runs the expect script. Could anyone explain? 2) I am not sure how to pass $Parameter into VAR or to the echo statement. This is my main concern. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Why GPRS modem provides embedded TCP/IP stack

  My colleague and I are mining the GPRS MODEM market for a module suitable for use with embedded Linux. During the market scan, we see that several vendors highlight that their MODEMs include an embedded TCP/IP stack. This makes me wonder: when we are using embedded Linux which already contains a TCP/IP stack and connects using PPP, will it make use of the stack included in the GPRS MODEM at all? My current assumption is that the stack is included for use with tiny microcontroller OS that do not supply their own stack. Also some of the MODEMs allow for running small applications IN the MODEM baseband processor which could explain the embedded stack... So: is the TCP/IP stack supplied by the GPRS MODEM superfluous when using it with an HL OS or did I overlook something?

  Ok, I know that property overloading is not supported in C# - most of the references explain it by citing the single-method-different-returntype problem. However, what about setters? I'd like to directly assign a value as either a string or object, but only return as a string. Like this: public string FieldIdList { get { return fieldIdList.ToString(); } set { fieldIdList = new FieldIdList(value); } } public FieldIdList FieldIdList { set { fieldIdList = value; } } private FieldIdList fieldIdList; Why wouldn't this be allowed? I've also seen that "properties" simply create getter/setter functions on compile. Would it be possible to create my own? Something like: public void set_FieldIdList(FieldIdList value) { fieldIdList = value; } That would do the same thing. Thoughts?

  Hi everyone ! I was getting a symbol lookup error in player stage, I rectified it after hours of hit and trial ! ( see my blogspot ). Even then in about 30 uses, the error resurfaces and I have to rectify it !. As of now, I am able to work fine ! the rectification just takes about 30 seconds. • PHP page load seems to be requesting itself and misinterpreting the result

  I'm working on a messy PHP page by another developer and I was analyzing the resource view in the Webkit developer tools and noticed that the page (index.php) makes an HTTP requests for itself and then interprets the results as an image despite it being sent with the text/html header. Because of this it throws the warning: Resource interpreted as image but transferred with MIME type text/html. Looking at the time graph the call comes after the <head> because it has already requested images for the body. Sometimes there are even two 'bad' requests. Can anyone explain what might be happening and/or suggest how to fix this? Could these be related to PHP includes?

• Editing history in bash

  In bash, when I go back in history, edit some command and run it, this edited command is appended to history and the original one is left intact. But every once in a while I somehow manage to affect the original command, i.e. my edit replaces the original command back in history. I can't put my finger on how this happens. Can someone explain? My goal is to avoid this, so any edit to a previous command always gets appended to history and never replaces the original.
