  • ruby tests - error messages don't include line numbers or file name

    Hi all, How do I get line numbers to be reported with my errors when testing. Here is what I get back on a typical error: josh@josh-laptop:~/d/test$ ruby unit/line_test.rb -n test_update Loaded suite unit/line_test Started E Finished in 0.066663 seconds. 1) Error: test_update(LineTest): NameError: undefined local variable or method `sdf' for #<LineTest:0xb6e61304> 1 tests, 0 assertions, 0 failures, 1 errors It is tough to debug without a line number and filename. From the code samples I've seen, people generally get back a more verbose error reports. How do I enable this? Thanks!

If I do console.log(findSelection();) it gives me getSelection(). Is there something I've done wrong?

  • PHP specifying a fixed include source for scripts in different directories

    I am currently doing unit testing, and use folders to organize my test cases. All cases pertaining to managing of user accounts, for example, go under \tests\accounts. Over time, there are more test cases, and I begin to seperate the cases by types, such as \tests\accounts\create, \tests\account\update and etc. However, one annoying problem is I have to specify the path to a set of common includes. I have to use includes like this: include_once ("../../../../autoload.php"); include_once ("../../../../init.php"); A test case in tests\accounts\ would require change to the include (one less directory level down). Is there anyway to have them somehow locating my two common includes? I understand I could set include paths within my PHP's configurations, or use server environment variables, but I would like to avoid such solutions as they make the application less portable and coupled with another layer which the programmer can't control (some web-host doesn't allow configuration of PHP's configuration settings, for example)

  • Why doesn't this html/css work in ie?

    I am just trying to center a div on the page. It works in chrome but in i.e. the div is still on the left: <html> <head></head> <body> <div id="container" style="margin:0 auto; width:200px;"> test </div> </body> </html> Everything I've read has said that to center a block element, simply add margin:0 auto and specify a width, so I don't know why this isn't working.     I like to use the "UserControl TestContainer" that works great for testing a controls properties during design time. Yet it has limitations. Usually, I just create a Windows Form Application to test the control's run-time interface. It would be nice to combine the two phases. Today, I discovered that the test-container is defined in the project file as show below. What I like to do is create my own test-container and use it for my Windows Forms Control Library projects in Visual Studio 2008. I cannot find any specific documentation, and the documentation I found was related to MSTest and not helpful.   • Coldfusion returning typed objects / AMF remoting

    Is the same possible in ColdFusion? Currently I am using .Net/Fluorine to return objects to the client. Whilst in testing I like to pass strings representing the select statement and the custom object I wish to have returned from my service. Fluorine has a class ASObject to which you can set the var 'typeName'; which works great. I am hoping that this is possible in Coldfusion. Does anyone know whether you can set the type of the returned object in a similar way.   • What's the ROI of using a build tool like ant or nant?

    To me this sounds like a really stupid question. Why would you not use a build tool? However, I need to explain my co-worker why he should be using a build tool of some sort. He's getting really into the idea of working as a team with more programmers, but he isn't understanding the bigger picture of what needs to change in the build process in order to work with a larger team; (i.e. defensive programming/unit testing your code, having a bug database, programming modular libraries, and using sub-repositories to store modules in version control. This is a rather large stack of technologies that I need to prove the ROI of...so I figured I'd start with the ROI of using a build tool rather than just...say...clicking compile.

  • When opening a file in perl, how can I automatically use STDIN/OUT if the file name is "-"?

    I have a perl program that takes input and output file arguments, and I'd like to support the convention of using "-" to specify standard input/output. The problem is that I can't just open the file name, because open(my $input, '<', '-') opens a file called -, not standard input. So I have to do something like this: my $input_fh; if ($input_filename eq '-') { # Special case: get the stdin handle $input_fh = *STDIN{IO}; } else { # Standard case: open the file open($input_fh, '<', $input_filename); } And similarly for the output file. Is there any way to do this without testing for the special case myself? I know I could hack the ARGV filehandle to do this for input, but that won't work for output.

    I have just uploaded my first app to iTunes Connect and noticed that my list of supported devices is appearing as follows... Device Requirements : Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. I've developed specifically for the iPhone and iPod Touch and have not yet done any testing on the iPad simulator. I therefore don't want the app submission testers to try running my app on an iPad and rejecting it because of some minor issue. I've looked at setting the required device capabilities in my info.plist, but that doesn't appear to allow me to restrict at a device level. Is this a by-product of building using the 3.1.3 SDK? Are apps built using this SDK automatically upscaled to work on the iPad?

WRT Mocking, not so much with C++. I would like some guidance on what others do to mock and test Asynch io_service handlers with boost. For instance, in C# I would use a MemoryStream to mock an IO.Stream, and am assuming this is the path I should take here.     Is there a way, either in code or with JVM arguments, to override the current time, as presented via System.currentTimeMillis, other than manually changing the system clock on the host machine? A little background: We have a system that runs a number of accounting jobs that revolve much of their logic around the current date (ie 1st of the month, 1st of the year, etc) Unfortunately, a lot of the legacy code calls functions such as new Date() or Calendar.getInstance(), both of which eventually call down to System.currentTimeMillis. For testing purposes, right now, we are stuck with manually updating the system clock to manipulate what time and date the code thinks that the test is being run. So my question is: Is there a way to override what is returned by System.currentTimeMillis? For example, to tell the JVM to automatically add or subtract some offset before returning from that method? Thanks in advance!

  • Problem with ranking of search results in SharePoint 2007 if using the CONTAINS predicate

    While writing a front-end for the SharePoint Search web service for work, I did some quick testing with the MOSS Search Tool to make sure things were working right under the hood. What I found was that queries composed only of CONTAINS predicates (FREETEXT ones were fine) would have a rank of 1000 for any results that were returned. According to the documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms544086.aspx): "If the query returns a document because a non–full-text predicate evaluates to TRUE for that document, the rank value is calculated as 1000." Given that the behaviour I am seeing seems to contradict the documentation, is it the case that all queries that use only the CONTAINS predicate will produce ranking like this?

  • Javascript Onclicks not working?

    I have a jQuery application which finds a specific div, and edit's its inner HTML. As it does this, it adds several divs with onclicks designed to call a function in my JS. For some strange reason, clicking on these never works if I have a function defined in my code set to activate. However, it works fine when calling "alert("Testing");". I am quite bewildered at this as I have in the past been able to make code-generated onclicks work just fine. The only thing new here is jQuery.

  • iPhone Push Notification Reliablity

    How reliable do you find push notification on the iPhone to be? Does it improve when moving from the sandbox to production server? I am testing (with the sandbox of course) and have found that notifications are often delayed or not received at all. I am not talking about sending multiple messages and only the last one arriving, as the documentation indicates, but any notification never showing up. Also, I noticed that if I send a notification with an alert, and then send one with just a badge number, that the second notification will close the alert even after it's already opened. Does this happen between apps as well? For instance, if I send an alert for my app, and then the Facebook app sends a badge, will the Facebook badge close my alert window?

  • How can one use the "Add view" dialog in Visual Studio efficiently when working with ASP.NET MVC?

    Does anyone else think that the add view dialog in VS is useless or is it just me? Why is there no search/filtering in there? I can not even paste the type name (without namespace) there to speed up the view creation. Plus, there are a lot of irrelevant classes there, including classes from all referenced libraries. Am I missing something or Microsoft never did any usability testing with that?? Is it possible to filter out types/assemblies in the dialog and/or better navigation compared to manually scrolling the combobox with all the types listed? Is it possible to include only types from a particular directory/assembly/namespace? (the ViewModels namespace for example) EDIT: As it seems from the answers that there is no usable workaround for this, I have filed a suggestion at Connect: https://connect.microsoft.com/VisualStudio/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=507784 Please vote for the suggestion if you find this is an important issue.

You will declare an array of type double that can hold 10 elements, and you will use this array to hold all 10 results you get from evaluating each interval.   • How do I stop Safari from caching my Servlet response?

    I'm having trouble testing a web app with Safari. My app returns wave audio data. The problem happens when I change the application and hit it again from Safari. Safari caches the original response so no matter how many times I hit refresh it seems like I've not updated anything. I can almost get around this using force refresh with Firefox but because I'm having trouble generating the wave headers using the javax.sound API Firefox only plays the first second of audio returned. A few weeks ago I tried setting the HTTP header in my servlet to prevent caching but I don't think I was setting it correctly. (What is the header for browser cache control?) This is becoming a real pain and I'm looking for any ideas, comments, or alternative approaches. I'm getting ready to try again but I figured I'd ask here in the interim to see if someone can provide help.
