  I have what I would consider a small sized iPhone app that uses SQLite. There is a singleton domain object which gets data from a SQLite database. Is it better to create and open the SQLite connection for each request, or to open the DB once and hold on to it for the duration of the app. The app's reason for being is the domain object so other objects will not need the DB.

Is the performance difference between NSThread and POSIX threading enough to care about here? If so, I would assume POSIX threads would be more efficient because it bypasses the obj-c overhead.   We sending data over UDP from the iPhone, sometimes, but not always, in response to our first send() of UDP data, we are getting back a -1 return code and errno set to 1 (EPERM / operation not permitted). The EPERM result for send(), sendto() and sendmsg() is not documented in the man pages as a return result from those functions. Has anyone out there encountered this and might be able to shed some light on what this errno value means in this context?

  im developing an app for the iphone and im able to get a video using a UIImagePickerController the problem is that the video thats returned by the UIImagePickerControllerMediaURL is not full resoultion -- its only 480 x 360 as opposed to 640 x 480 like the videos that sync to my itunes. -please someone tell me this is not a limitation of the current sdk? - how can i work around it and is there a way to set the uiimage picker so its taking full res video?

I wanted to also convert to an mp4 format that will "stream" to an iphone and blackberry, or allowed to be downloaded to either, for later viewing.
