• How do I retain a requested url with parameters after redirecting to a login page?

  I have been asked to set up some authentication for some content on our website using JSP. What I would like to do seems simple to me but I can't quite figure out how to do it in JSP. What I would like to do is this: When a user requests a page that you must be logged in to see, I have a tag that checks their cookies for an authentication token. If it is not there, they are redirected to a login page. After they log in, I want to redirect them back to the page they first requested along with any parameters they were sending. Now, I have the tag that is checking their authentication and redirecting them to the login page. That part is working just fine. But I'm not sure how to maintain the first requested url and parameters so they can be redirected after they login. How might I accomplish this?

  Hello, I have a little issue concerning an animation-effect which loads a certain div into the body of the site. Let me be more precise: I have a div with the id 'contact': <div id="contact">content</div> The jquery code loads the contents within that div, when I press the link with the id 'ajax_contact': <a href="#" id="ajax_contact">link</a>. The code is working perfectly. However, I want #contact to be HIDDEN when the site loads, i.e. the default state must be non-visible. Only when the user clicks the link #ajax_contact, the div must appear. • Image container instead of event object in image load event handler

  I stumbled upon a very strange thing. In FF 3.6 (not tested others yet) I add onload handler to an image like this: imgRef.addEventListener("load", activateLink, false); When load event fires, in activateLink(evt) the evt paramater is not an event, but the "a" tag that contains the image. Why is this? function activateLink(evt) { // evt turns out to be a refference to <a> tag (HTMLAnchorElement) that contains the image. // Actually two of them. Both dynamically added with addElement. } I remembered another fact that may be relevant. I have multiple images with the same src that all have registered this same event handler activateLink. Could this be the problem?

• Pass page scope attributes to a JSP using pagecontext.include for use in JSTL?

  We're using this JSP template solution almost verbatim at work: http://java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/javaserverpages/jsp_templates/ When it gets JSP pages to be included, it uses pageContext.include, which leaves us with one problem, and that is that we have a lot of scriplet code that gets initialized in the JSP itself (tag soup). My thought was to modify the template tag with an additional attribute that is a package path reference to a class with an init or execute method. That execute would get called first, and would add page context attributes before including the JSP. We would then use JSTL to access those attributes. However, I was told this wouldn't work because of how pageContext.include works, and the inability to pass through attributes scoped to the page. Is that true, and are there workarounds? I'm so-so on knowing all my scoping rules.

  Let's say I have a web page (/index.html) that contains the following <li> <div>item1</div> <a href="/details/item1.html">details</a> </li> and I would like to have some javascript on /index.html to load that /details/item1.html page and extract some information from that page. The page /details/item1.html might contain things like <div id="some_id"> <a href="/images/item1_picture.png">picture</a> <a href="/images/item1_map.png">map</a> </div> My task is to write a greasemonkey script, so changing anything serverside is not an option. To summarize, javascript is running on /index.html and I would like to have the javascript code to add some information on /index.html extracted from both /index.html and /details/item1.html. My question is how to fetch information from /details/item1.html. I currently have written code to extract the link (e.g. /details/item1.html) and pass this on to a method that should extract the wanted information (at first just .innerHTML from the some_id div is ok, I can process futher later). The following is my current attempt, but it does not work. • PHP Check slave status without mysql_connect timeout issues

  I have a web-app that has a master mysql db and four slave dbs. I want to handle all (or almost all) read-only (SELECT) queries from the slaves. Our load-balancer sends the user to one of the slave machines automatically, since they are also running Apache/PHP and serving webpages. I am using an include file to setup the connection to the databases, such as: //for master server (i.e. - UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE statements) $Host = "10.0.0.x"; $User = "xx"; $Password = "xx"; $Link = mysql_connect( $Host, $User, $Password ); if( !$Link ) ) { die( "Master database is currently unavailable. Please try again later." ); } //this connection can be used for READ-ONLY (i.e. - SELECT statements) on the localhost $Host_Local = "localhost"; $User_Local = "xx"; $Password_Local = "xx"; $Link_Local = mysql_connect( $Host_Local, $User_Local, $Password_Local ); //fail back to master if slave db is down if( !$Link_Local ) ) { $Link_Local = mysql_connect( $Host, $User, $Password ); } I then use $Link for all update queries and $Link_Local as the connection for SELECT statements. Everything works fine until the slave server database goes down. If the local db is down, the $Link_Local = mysql_connect() call takes at least 30 seconds before it gives up on trying to connect to the localhost and returns back to the script. This causes a huge backlog of page serves and basically shuts down the system (due to the extremely slow response time). Does anyone know of a better way to handle connections to slave servers via PHP? Or, is there some kind of timeout function that could be used to stop the mysql_connect call after 2-3 seconds? Thanks for the help. I searched the other mysql_connect threads, but didn't see any that addressed this issue.

• Z-Index problems with IE6 and html <select> element

  I have a <div> that opens up on a jquery hover event (display goes from hidden to block). Sometime it's opens up over some form elements. And of course it works fine in all browsers except IE6. <select> boxes bleed through as if there z-index is higher than the <div> tag. I've tried setting the <div> tag with a higher z-index, but it still gets ignored by IE6. I'm hoping to implement any fix -- jquery or css, I really don't care at this point. Any ideas?

• Continuous Flash music player while navigating site

  I have a site that includes a Flash music player integrated into the layout. I want users to be able to navigate around the site without interrupting the music. I've done plenty of research and thinking and the following are the options I came up with (keeping in mind I want to be as SEO friendly as possible). Anyone have another idea? AJAX: I set up a version that changes the main content div to whatever nav link they click, thereby not interrupting the Flash player. I set it up in the proper search-engine-friendly manner with direct links and JQuery/Ajax functions. If someone goes to site.com/ and clicks the Contact nav link, it loads what's in the main content div on site.com/contact.php into the main content div and changes the URL bar to site.com/#Contact. The same goes for if they go to site.com/contact.php and click About in the nav, it loads the About content and changes the URL bar to site.com/contact.php#About. Obviously this opens up a whole new can of worms with AJAX and hash navigation/history issues, and I would end up with people possibly linking to things like site.com/contact.php#About (which I think looks terrible and can't be too great for SEO). Store the Flash player vars somewhere and reload them with the page: I'm not sure how to go about this, but I thought about keeping my regular navigation without AJAX and have it so when a user clicks a nav link, before it changes pages it stores the Flash player vars (current song and song position) somewhere, then loads them into Flash when the new page loads. Something with an iframe? Good alternative to a Flash player that will work for this type of application? Thanks!

The validation doesn't work when submitted by the link, but it does if I change the link to a submit button. What am I doing wrong? • How can I solve this CSS links inheritance problem?

  It's stumped me an I've tried a couple of things - then again I'm not very experienced so I may just be going about it the wrong way. Basically I want to have different link styles for both the navigation and the pagination. The #navigation styling is overriding my .pagination styling though, and it doesn't appear to matter if the pagination is a class or an ID. • variable being weirdly deleted

• Loop elements with Jquery and call Omniture s.tl() function to track

  Hi, i have a page with a list of items. Each item has a print now link (a.printMe) to print each item. At the end of the list, there's a print all link (a.printAll) to print all items. I want to track number of times an item was printed. If a.printAll link is clicked, then i will send all the item's tracking value to Omniture. I added tracking string into individual item's a.printMe href attribute and track with the following functions: $('a.printMe').click(function() { var value = $(this).attr('href'); track(value); }); $('a.printAll').click(function() { $('a.printMe').each(function() { this.click(); }); // works in IE only. • Regular expression from font to span (size and colour) and back (VB.NET)

  Hi, I am looking for a regular expression that can convert my font tags (only with size and colour attributes) into span tags with the relevant inline css. This will be done in VB.NET if that helps at all. I also need a regular expression to go the other way as well. To elaborate below is an example of the conversion I am looking for: <font size="10">some text</font> To then become: <span style="font-size:10px;">some text</span> So converting the tag and putting a "px" at the end of whatever the font size is (I don't need to change/convert the font size, just stick px at the end). The regular expression needs to cope with a font tag that only has a size attribute, only a color attribute, or both: <font size="10">some text</font> <font color="#000000">some text</font> <font size="10" color="#000000">some text</font> <font color="#000000" size="10">some text</font> I also need another regular expression to do the opposite conversion. So for example: <span style="font-size:10px;">some text</span> Will become: <font size="10">some text</font> As before converting the tag but this time removing the "px", I don't need to worry about changing the font size. Again this will also need to cope with the size styling, font styling, and a combination of both: <span style="font-size:10px;">some text</span> <span style="color:#000000;">some text</span> <span style="font-size:10px; color:#000000;">some text</span> <span style="color:#000000; font-size:10px;">some text</span> I apprecitate this is a lot to ask, I am hopeless with regular expressions and need to find a way of making these conversions in my code. This is the RS class: class RS { private $username; private $password; function __construct($dbObj) { // We need to get an account from the db $dbObj->connect(); } } As you can probably see, I need to access and use the database class in my RS class. But I get this error when I load the page: Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in C:\xampp\htdocs\includes\database.class.php on line 22 The thing is I have NO idea where it got the idea that it needs to use ODBC as a user... I've read up on doing this stuff and from what I can gather I am doing it correctly. Could anyone lend me a hand? Thank you.

• Why is new showat attribute required when using code generation?

  When I generate code using T4 templates in Visual Studio 2010, I get the following error for each of my asp controls when I try to compile: Control "ddState" is missing required attribute "showat". I have never gotten this error in previous versions of .NET. Further, I don't get this error when I manually construct my pages either by dragging/dropping, nor do I get it when I type out the control text myself. When I generate code, I have to manually add showat="client" to my tag for the compiler to be happy. It was my understanding that I never had to explicitly specify this tag. The following: <asp:dropdownlist id="ddState" runat="server" showat="client" /> solves the problem. Why do I have to add this to generated code but not other times? (It's a VS-2010 webforms project, using VB, in case that makes a difference.)

  I am trying to parse an xml file with a soap envelope from a web service using php. I would like to use SoapClient, but I get an error back that 'page must be viewed over secure channel SSL', which I think is an issue on their end, so I gave up on that. Currently I am using curl to get a result back. I've read quite a few other posts and have tried several different methods of getting the info and so far nothing has seemed to work.

• Have to put files in static_dir but need to read them afterwards

  I just started using google app engine. In order to use templates, I'm using jinja2. I want to add images dynamically after I set the width and height of the img tag. I used PIL in order to read the image size and put the one I want. However when I open the image with PIL, I need it not to be in a static_dir and to put the image in the img tag, I need it to be in the static_dir. As a testing solution I've copied the folder to see if I get results and I did. But as you can see having each image saved twice is kind of bad.
