• Using jQuery to listen for an AJAX load that is not loaded using jQuery.AJAX

  Okay, have a bit of a tricky one (for me anyway, i'm pretty rubbish at jQuery/JavaScript). I'm pulling in data using standard AJAX (ie, NOT using a framework like jQuery or whatnot... there is a reason for it) However, I then need to load up a jQuery script as soon as the page has been loaded in. So, here is the question, how do I bind the script once the DOM has been updated? I have been using Ariel Fleser's listen plugin (http://flesler.blogspot.com/2007/10/jquerylisten.html) for picking up on events such as clicks which works a treat, but I can't see how this can be used to listen for a load event. Any ideas? I'm pretty stumped on this one!!

  I am developng Smart device application in C#. It is a window application. In this application I am using Login form to authenticate the users. Only authenticated users can login into the system. I using statc variables in this application so that they can be used at application level. After deploying the application I can see that emulator provides the close button with multiplicaton symbol. In this way I can close my form as well as application. But I want to provde one logout link in my application. Can I provide logout functionality in C# window applicain ? If yes, how to do that ? Please make sure that all the functions of .net framework does not work with .net compact framwork? Can you provide me the code or link through which can resolve the above issue ?

  In Java, updating double and long variable may not be atomic, as double/long are being treated as two separate 32 bits variables. http://java.sun.com/docs/books/jls/second_edition/html/memory.doc.html#28733 In C++, if I am using 32 bit Intel Processor + Microsoft Visual C++ compiler, is updating double (8 byte) operation atomic? I cannot find much specification mention on this behavior. When I say "atomic variable", here is what I mean : Thread A trying to write 1 to variable x. Thread B trying to write 2 to variable x. We shall get value 1 or 2 out from variable x, but not an undefined value.

• Spring security annotations with EL -- requires debug information compiled in?

  I am considering using Spring Security annotations for my application, with the EL (expression language) feature. For example: @PreAuthorize("hasPermission(#contact, 'admin')") public void deletePermission(Contact contact, Sid recipient, Permission permission); I need the EL capability because I have built my own ACL implementation. However, to use this capability with the "#contact" type arguments, the Spring documentation says this: You can access any of the method arguments by name as expression variables, provided your code has debug information compiled in. This begs two questions: It is acceptable to have a production application commercially distributed with debug info in it? If not, is there any way around this? Thanks for any guidance on this!

  Let's assume I have a main script, main.py, that imports another python file with 'import coolfunctions' and another: 'import chores' Now, suppose coolfunctions also uses stuff from chores, hence I declare 'import chores' inside coolfunctions. Since both main.py, and coolfunctions import chores ~ is this redundant? Is there any other way of doing this? Am I doing it correctly? I'm confused about how python projects should be structured in general. I have a "conf.py" file, that I import for a bunch of variables ~ is this a module or not? I load this conf file in multiple places as well.

• Visual Studio Debugging Issue

  Seeing an issue when debugging in Visual Studio. All of the values under watch, and in the hover over window show up incorrectly. the only values that show properly, are values that are local to the method I am currently stepping through. For example the watch value for 'this' when debugging shows the following under value 0x00000000ffac0388 { btnBack=0x00000000ffaccf20 btnReply=0x00000000ffacd200 btnForward=0x00000000ffacd420...} some other variables show this, even though the variable is there. error: 'this.foo' does not exist The machine recently had windows 7 64 installed, since then this problem has occured. Visual studio has been reinstalled on this machine, and we verified that the settings in visual studio were exactly the same as a different PC that is the same machine and config.

  Im trying to bind a list with datetime objects to my repeater. if (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.AlternatingItem || e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Item) { DateTime actualDate = e.Item.DataItem as DateTime; } When I want access the itemdatabound event on the repeater Then I get an errormessage which says that DateTime is a valuetype and not a reference type. My solution is that a wrap the datetime in a custom object (reference type) and pass that to the repeater datasource instead of the datetime. But Im wondering if there are other solutions where the repeater takes valuetypes (DateTime objects)........

  I was wondering how to develop a secure form post through AJAX. For example, i have: My HTML form. My JavaScript handling the submit. The submit url is "post_data.php" The posted data is: id=8&name=Denis The PHP verifies if variables id and name are POSTED and their data type. If this is ok it proceed to do some stuff on a database. My question is, how can i prevent someone from creating his own html form, outside my web site, or whatever, and posting false data to my PHP script?   I need to dynamically generate a code like this in the resulting html: <p>>> gallery one</p> <p><a href="../gallery2">gallery two</a></p> <p><a href="../about">about the author</a></p> <p><a href="../news">our news</a></p> I do have menu_code string variable created in views.py (it is generated depending on an item number of the current page passed — 1 in the case above), which contains that long string with the code shown above. It is (well, supposed to) passed by locals() into the html template (all other variables are passed that way successfully): return render_to_response('gallery_page.html', locals()) I have this: {% include menu_code %} inside the template html. But instead of being interpreted as code it is just shown as text in the browser. What am I doing wrong? How to make it work as a dynamically generated menu?

  I'm reading Thinking in C++ (vol. 2): Whenever a function is called, information about that function is pushed onto the runtime stack in an activation record instance (ARI), also called a stack frame. A typical stack frame contains (1) the address of the calling function (so execution can return to it), (2) a pointer to the ARI of the function’s static parent (the scope that lexically contains the called function, so variables global to the function can be accessed), and (3) a pointer to the function that called it (its dynamic parent). The path that logically results from repetitively following the dynamic parent links is the dynamic chain, or call chain I'm unable to comprehend what the author means as function's static and dynamic parent. Also am not able to differentiate between item 1, 2 or 3. They all seem to be the same. Can someone please explain this passage to me?

  I'm trying to display a list of open tab names in a listview or listbox (recommendations?). Been going through the different type of binding options and I'm able to bind to a single tab name but it displays vertical instead of horizontal.   Hi, In my code i create a HyperLinkField object. Depending on a database field value, i want to set the NavigateUrl property. This is my problem, i don't know how. With: objHF.DataNavigateUrlFields = new[] { "id", "Stype" }; i get my database field. Now i want to check the Stype value. Depeding on this value i want to set the page where to navigate to. How can i do this?? At the end i set my datasource to the gridview and after that i call the bind() method. I hope someone can help me out

• Combine master-detail databinding

  I have created data sources from my objects in my project, some of which have other objects as members. When I want to bind a some objects to a data grid I would like to display some of the values from the member objects in the data grid as well but the examples I have come across seem to use an entire other datagrid or controls to display these member object values. How can I combine these values into one data grid? (Preferably without creating a wrapping class) Can I achieve this with LINQ somehow? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks P.S. C# or VB examples will do.

• Rails Action and Fragment Caching during Development?

  I'm just starting to get into Rails caching and am wondering how to test whether or not caching is working in my development environment. I have set these two config variables for both the development (temporarily) and production environments: config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_controller.page_cache_directory = File.join(RAILS_ROOT, 'public', 'cache') And my controller basically looks like this (using the resource_controller gem): class EventsController < Spree::BaseController resource_controller caches_page :index index.response do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @collection.to_xml } end # ... end If I do that, I get these files: public/cache/events.html public/cache/events.xml But when I change caches_page to caches_action, I don't see any generated files and am not sure how to tell if the response has been cached. What do I need to know to know that this is working? I've read the docs and related, the rails caching guides, the railscast, and a few other docs, but I'm still wondering where everything is stored.   I am new to python and just downloaded it today. I am using it to work on a web spider, so to test it out and make sure everything was working, I downloaded a sample code. Unfortunately, it does not work and gives me the error: "AttributeError: 'MyShell' object has no attribute 'loaded' " I am not sure if the code its self has an error or I failed to do something correctly when installing python. Is there anything you have to do when installing python like adding environmental variables, etc.? And what does that error generally mean?   I am trying to setup per-user fastcgi scripts that will run each on a different port and with a different user. Here is example of my script: #!/bin/bash BIND=127.0.0.1:9001 USER=user PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=2 PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS=10000 etc... However, if I add user with /bin/false (which I want, since this is about to be something like shared hosting and I don't want users to have shell access), the script is run under 1001, 1002 'user' which, as my Google searches showed, might be a security hole. My question is: Is it possible to allow user(s) to execute shell scripts but disable them so they cannot log in via SSH?

• ASP .NET MVC; return HTML along with JavaScript

  I have a partial view which renders a table. On page load, I am using JQuery to perform Zebra Stripping on it. Whenever ajax refreshes the table, DOM elements are updated, but since JQuery code to do the Zebra Stripping is not executed; table looks ugly. I have tried adding Javascript in my partial view if( Request.IsAjaxRequest() ) return PartialView( "AdministrationGrid", Users ); but javascript is not executed. I guess the only way to execute the Javascript as reply is to do: return JavaScript( "alert( '' )" ); Anyone with an idea how can I achieve this? I thought about JQuery Live, but it is used to bind itself to events.

  hey all, when i run my flash file (test it) in the output panel i get the following error TypeError: Error #1010: A term is undefined and has no properties. i read some where, that this was caused because one of the variables is set to null. after looking at my code i found out that the following line was causing this output arrSelectedIndex[i] = -1; this is later on used as the selected index in a group of radio buttons. my question is, would having the selected index set to -1 be an issue ? thanks

• How to create a web framework in C# without ASPX?

  I've managed to get a C# asp page running under ubuntu/apache/mono, but I don't want to write my framework in these ASP pages, I want to use straight C# and then I'll use a templating language for my views. But I don't know where to begin? C# is a compiled language, so... how would I do this? Would I compile everything and then have apache hook into the (single) executable and pass in the the request URL? Could I request specific .cs pages and then have apache tell it to compile and then "display" it only if it's been updated? Can the "view" files be compiled individually to avoid having to recompile everything every time there's a change? Is there some "base" I can work from, or am I going to have to reinvent accessing GET and POST variables (by reading header info) and all sorts of other stuff we take for granted in languages like PHP?

  When I call a function, a local scope is erected for that call. Is there any way to directly reference that scope as an object? Just like window is a reference for the global scope object. Example: function test(foo){ var bar=1 //Now, can I access the object containing foo, bar, arguments and anything //else within the local scope like this: magicIdentifier.bar } Alternately, does anyone have a complete list of what is in the global scope on top of custom variables? Background: I'm trying to get down to a way of completely shifting to global scope from within a function call, the with statement is a joke, call works a little better, but it still breaks for anything declared in function scope but not in global scope, therefore I would declare these few cases in global scope, but that requires me to know what they are. The IE function execScript makes a complete shift, but that only solves the problem for IE. Note: To anyone loading JavaScript dynamically, setTimeout(code,1) is a simple effective hack to achieve global scope, but it will not execute immediately.

  Hi All, I'm having a bit of trouble with regex's (C#, ASP.NET), and I'm pretty sure I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. My task is to bind a dynamically created gridview to a datasource, and then iterate through a column in the grid, looking for the string "A&I". An example of what the data in the cell (in template column) looks like is: Name: John Doe Phone: 555-123-1234 Email: [email protected] Dept: DHS-A&I-MRB Here's the code I'm using to find the string value: foreach(GridViewRow gvrow in gv.Rows) { Match m = Regex.Match(gvrow.Cells[6].Text,"A&I"); if(m.Success) { gvrow.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Red; } } I'm not having any luck with any of these variations: "A&I" "[A][&][I]" But when I strictly user "&", the row does turn red.
