  • how to overwrite rcov method with loading custom file

  • Facebook Cucumber testing with Authlogic - how test user logged in as facebook user?

    - by rhh
    I'm having trouble implementing this step: Given "I am logged in as a Facebook user" do end The best suggestions I can find on the web (http://opensoul.org/2009/3/6/testing-facebook-with-cucumber) do not seem to be using Authlogic for authentication. Can someone with the Cucumber/Authlogic_facebook_connect/Authlogic combo post their step for testing facebook logins? Thank you very much.

  • How to always return a set number of records when using find_related_tags with acts-as-taggable-on

    - by hadees
    I'm using the acts-as-taggable-on gem and I need to use find_related_tags on my survey model to get back 3 surveys every time. In the event there aren't always 3 related I need to pick how ever many are related plus some random ones to get to 3. Additionally I have a method I wrote called completed_survey_ids which return an array of survey_ids that shouldn't be used because the user has already completed them. Also there is a rare case that there won't be enough surveys because the user has completed them all so in that event it is okay to return less surveys then requested. I did write a named_scope to handle getting rid of the completed_survey_ids that I think works named_scope :not, lambda { |survey_ids| {:conditions => "id NOT IN (#{survey_ids.join(',')})" } }

  • Ruby and RSS2 Feed not displaying image

    - by pcasa
    Trying to create a simple RSS2 Feed that I could later pass on to FeedBurner but can't get RSS feed to display images at all. Also, from what I have read having xml.instruct! on top might cause IE to complain it's not a valid feed. Is this true? My Code looks like xml.instruct! xml.rss "version" => "2.0", "xmlns:dc" => "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" do xml.channel do xml.title "Store" xml.link url_for :only_path => false, :controller => 'products' xml.description "Store" xml.pubDate @products.first.updated_at.rfc822 if @products.any? @products.each do |product| xml.item do xml.title product.name xml.pubDate (product.updated_at.rfc822) xml.image do xml.url domain_host + product.product_image.url(:small) xml.title "Store" xml.link url_for :only_path => false, :controller => 'products' end xml.link url_for :only_path => false, :controller => 'products', :action => 'show', :id => product.permalink xml.description product.fine_print xml.guid url_for :only_path => false, :controller => 'products', :action => 'show', :id => product.permalink end end end end

  • Should I skip authorization, with CanCan, of an action that instantiates a resource?

    - by irkenInvader
    I am writing a web app to pick random lists of cards from larger, complete sets of cards. I have a Card model and a CardSet model. Both models have a full RESTful set of 7 actions (:index, :new, :show, etc). The CardSetsController has an extra action for creating random sets: :random. # app/models/card_set.rb class CardSet < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :creator, :class_name => "User" has_many :memberships has_many :cards, :through => :memberships # app/models/card.rb class Card < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :creator, :class_name => "User" has_many :memberships has_many :card_sets, :through => :memberships I have added Devise for authentication and CanCan for authorizations. I have users with an 'editor' role. Editors are allowed to create new CardSets. Guest users (Users who have not logged in) can only use the :index and :show actions. These authorizations are working as designed. Editors can currently use both the :random and the :new actions without any problems. Guest users, as expected, cannot. # app/controllers/card_sets_controller.rb class CardSetsController < ApplicationController before_filter :authenticate_user!, :except => [:show, :index] load_and_authorize_resource I want to allow guest users to use the :random action, but not the :new action. In other words, they can see new random sets, but not save them. The "Save" button on the :random action's view is hidden (as designed) from the guest users. The problem is, the first thing the :random action does is build a new instance of the CardSet model to fill out the view. When cancan tries to load_and_authorize_resource a new CardSet, it throws a CanCan::AccessDenied exception. Therefore, the view never loads and the guest user is served a "You need to sign in or sign up before continuing" message. # app/controllers/card_sets_controllers.rb def random @card_set = CardSet.new( :name => "New Set of 10", :set_type => "Set of 10" ) I realize that I can tell load_and_authorize_resource to skip the :random action by passing :except => :random to the call, but that just feels "wrong" for some reason. What's the "right" way to do this? Should I create the new random set without instantiating a new CardSet? Should I go ahead and add the exception?

  • habtm multiple times with the same model

    - by Ermin
    I am trying to model a publications. A publication can have multiple authors and editors. Since it is possible that one person is an author of one publication and an editor of another, no separate models for Authors and Editors: class Publication < ActiveRecord::Base has_and_belongs_to_many :authors, :class_name=>'Person' has_and_belongs_to_many :editors, :class_name=>'Person' end The above code doesn't work, because it uses the same join table. Now I now that I can specify the name of the join table, but there is a warning in the API documentation is a warning about that which I don't understand: :join_table: Specify the name of the join table if the default based on lexical order isn’t what you want. WARNING: If you’re overwriting the table name of either class, the table_name method MUST be declared underneath any has_and_belongs_to_many declaration in order to work.

  • Linking two models in a multi-model form

    - by Elliot
    Hey Guys, I have a nested multimodel form right now, using Users and Profiles. Users has_one profile, and Profile belongs_to Users. When the form is submitted, a new user is created, and a new profile is created, but they are not linked (this is the first obvious issue). The user's model has a profile_id row, and the profile's model has a user_id row. Here is the code for the form: <%= form_for(@user, :url => teams_path) do |f| %> <p><%= f.label :email %><br /> <%= f.text_field :email %></p> <p><%= f.label :password %><br /> <%= f.password_field :password %></p> <p><%= f.label :password_confirmation %><br /> <%= f.password_field :password_confirmation %></p> <%= f.hidden_field :role_id, :value => @role.id %></p> <%= f.hidden_field :company_id, :value => current_user.company_id %></p> <%= fields_for @user.profile do |profile_fields| %> <div class="field"> <%= profile_fields.label :first_name %><br /> <%= profile_fields.text_field :first_name %> </div> <div class="field"> <%= profile_fields.label :last_name %><br /> <%= profile_fields.text_field :last_name %> </div> <% end %> <p><%= f.submit "Sign up" %></p> <% end %> A second issue, is even though the username, and password are successfully created through the form for the user model, the hidden fields (role_id & company_id - which are also links to other models) are not created (even though they are part of the model) - the values are successfully shown in the HTML for those fields however. Any help would be great!

  • Problem with skipping login validation for authlogic

    - by Andrei
    Hi, I want to use email for signing in, and to allow users to have similar names. One way to do this is to rename login/username field to something different. However, I want to do it just by setting up authlogic. I tried the following acts_as_authentic do |c| c.login_field :email c.validate_login_field false c.validate_email_field true end but it still complains that the login already exists. What must be done to avoid username validation without renaming the field?

  • How do I find where id does not match any of an array?

    - by Nick5a1
    I have a Workout model that has and belongs to many Equipment models. I have an array of some Equipment IDs. I want to find all Workouts that don't have any Equipment assigned that matches any of the array of Equipment IDs. So, if my array = [2,3,5] I want to find all workouts where the assigned equipment ids does not include 2, 3 or 5. EDIT: Workout.joins(:equipment).where("equipment.id not in(?)",[2,3,5]).uniq Assuming five instances of Equipment, the code above returns workouts with equipment.ids 1 and 4 (good), but also returns partial matches for example Workouts with equipment.id = [1,2], [1,2,3].

  • devise register confirmation

    - by mattherick
    hello! i have a user and an admin role in my project. i created my authentification with devise, really nice and goot tool for handling the authentification. in my admin role i don´t have any confirmation or something like that. it is really simple and doesn´t make problems. but in my user model i have following things: model: devise :database_authenticatable, :confirmable, :recoverable, :rememberable, :trackable, :validatable, :timeoutable, :registerable # Setup accessible (or protected) attributes for your model attr_accessible :email, :username, :prename, :surname, :phone, :street, :number, :location, :password, :password_confirmation and few validations, but they aren´t relevant this time. my migration looks like following one: class DeviseCreateUsers < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up create_table(:users) do |t| t.database_authenticatable :null = false t.confirmable t.recoverable t.rememberable t.trackable t.timeoutable t.validateable t.string :username t.string :prename t.string :surname t.string :phone t.string :street t.integer :number t.string :location t.timestamps end add_index :users, :email, :unique => true add_index :users, :confirmation_token, :unique => true add_index :users, :reset_password_token, :unique => true add_index :users, :username, :unique => true add_index :users, :prename, :unique => false add_index :users, :surname, :unique => false add_index :users, :phone, :unique => false add_index :users, :street, :unique => false add_index :users, :number, :unique => false add_index :users, :location, :unique => false end def self.down drop_table :users end end into my route.rb I added following statements: map.devise_for :admins map.devise_for :users, :path_names = { :sign_up = "register", :sign_in = "login" } map.root :controller = "main" and now my problem.. if I register a new user, I fill in all my data in the register form and submit it. After that I get redirected to the controller main with the flash-notice "You have signed up successfully." And I am logged in. But I don´t want to be logged in, because I don´t have confirmed my new user account yet. If I open the console I see the last things in the logs and there I see the confirmation-mail and the text and all stuff, but I am already logged in... I can´t explain why, ... does somebody of you have an idea? If I copy out the confirmation-token from the logs and confirm my account, I can log in, but if I don´t confirm, I also can log in..

  • Sorcery/Capybara: Cannon log in with :js => true

    - by PlankTon
    I've been using capybara for a while, but I'm new to sorcery. I have a very odd problem whereby if I run the specs without Capybara's :js = true functionality I can log in fine, but if I try to specify :js = true on a spec, username/password cannot be found. Here's the authentication macro: module AuthenticationMacros def sign_in user = FactoryGirl.create(:user) user.activate! visit new_sessions_path fill_in 'Email Address', :with => user.email fill_in 'Password', :with => 'foobar' click_button 'Sign In' user end end Which is called in specs like this: feature "project setup" do include AuthenticationMacros background do sign_in end scenario "creating a project" do "my spec here" end The above code works fine. However, IF I change the scenario spec from (in this case) scenario "adding questions to a project" do to scenario "adding questions to a project", :js => true do login fails with an 'incorrect username/password' combination. Literally the only change is that :js = true. I'm using the default capybara javascript driver. (Loads up Firefox) Any ideas what could be going on here? I'm completely stumped. I'm using Capybara 2.0.1, Sorcery 0.7.13. There is no javascript on the sign in page and save_and_open_page before clicking 'sign in' confirms that the correct details are entered into the username/password fields. Any suggestions really appreciated - I'm at a loss.

  • how to model editing of multiple related resources on the same webpage?

    - by amikazmi
    Lets say we have a Company model, that has many Employees And has many Projects If we want to show the projects, we'll go to "/company/1/projects/index" If we want to edit 1 project, we'll go to "/company/1/projects/1/edit" What if we want to edit all the projects at once on the same webpage? We can go to "/company/1/edit" and put a nested forms for all the projects But what if we need a different webpage to edit all the employees at once too? We can't use "/company/1/edit" again.. Right now we do "/company/1/projects/multiedit", "/company/1/projects/multupdate"- but as you can see, it's not rest. How can we model this restfully?

  • How do I DRY up business logic between sever-side Ruby and client-side Javascript?

    - by James A. Rosen
    I have a Widget model with inheritance (I'm using Single-Table Inheritance, but it's equally valid for Class-per-Table). Some of the subclasses require a particular field; others do not. class Widget < ActiveRecord ALL_WIDGET_TYPES = [FooWidget, BarWidget, BazWidget] end class FooWidget < Widget validates_presence_of :color end class BarWidget < Widget # no color field end class BazWidget < Widget validates_presence_of :color end I'm building a "New Widget" form (app/views/widgets/new.html.erb) and would like to dynamically show/hide the color field based on a <select> for widget_type. <% form_for @widget do |f| %> <%= f.select :type, Widget::ALL_WIDGET_TYPES %> <div class='hiddenUnlessWidgetTypeIsFooOrBaz'> <%= f.label :color %> <%= f.text_field :color %> </div> <% end %> I can easily write some jQuery to watch for onChange events on widget_type, but that would mean putting some sort of WidgetTypesThatRequireColor constant in my Javascript. Easy enough to do manually, but it is likely to get disconnected from the Widget model classes. I would prefer not to output Javascript directly in my view, though I have considered using content_for(:js) and have a yield :js in my template footer. Any better ideas?

  • Resetting a partial using RJS, and passing an instance variable?

    - by Elliot

Any ideas?

  • Form is creating already loaded attributes in addition to new attributes, how do I ignore the first?

    - by looloobs
    In my application you: Have an admin user that signs on and that user has a role (separate model), then I use the declarative_authorization plugin to give access to certain areas. That admin user can also register new users in the system, when they do this (using Authlogic) they fill out a nested form that includes that new users' role. So what is happening is the role of the admin user is being loaded by the declarative_authorization and then the nested form using the has_many_nested_attributes is loading that existing role as well as the new role for the new user (users can have many roles). Is there some way I can tell the new User being created to ignore the role assigned to the current_user and only create the role in the form for the new user? I have looked through a lot of different things, but it seems to get more complicated that these are nested attributes. Thanks in advance.

  • heroku logs --ps run showign nothing

    - by Zarne Dravitzki
    I have two running apps on heroku staging and production. They are near identical enviornments. (Staging has extra configs IE RailsFootnotes, Bullet gem) When I run heroku logs --ps run --app jl-staging Returns as logs like 2012-08-30T01:30:42+00:00 heroku[run.1]: Starting process with command `bundle exec rake jewellover:warn_users` This log is a Task set to run with Heroku Schedular Free. Everything Works perfect but when I do the same with heroku logs --ps run --app jl-production There are no results. No heroku[run.1] process logs. Both environments have the same scheduled tasks, albeit at different times but none the less both run scheduled tasks at specified times. Is there something im missing about heroku[run.1] processes in production env? Does heroku only keep the -ps logs for a certain amount of time? It seems to show less activity than the normal logs. Maybe only show 24hrs worth of logs rather than Last 100 logs... I need to log and debug the [run.1] process from the production env... specifically the jewellover:warn_users task. any ideas?
