  Hi there, I learned that when executing commands in Python, I should use subprocess. What I'm trying to achieve is to encode a file via ffmpeg and observe the program output until the file is done. Ffmpeg logs the progress to stderr. If I try something like this: child = subprocess.Popen(command, shell=True, stderr=subprocess.PIPE) complete = False while not complete: stderr = child.communicate() # Get progress print "Progress here later" if child.poll() is not None: complete = True time.sleep(2) the programm does not continue after calling child.communicate() and waits for the command to complete. Is there any other way to follow the output?

  I have a simple GAE app that includes a login/logout link. This app is running on the dev server at the moment. The base page handler gets the current user, and creates a login/logout url appropriately.   I have an Email body that used to be plain text, but now I've made it HTML. The emails are generated using a number of methods and none of them are easy to convert. What I have is: Some content [email protected], some http://www.somewebsite/someurl.aspx. What I'd like to do is create a function that automatically encloses all email addresses and all URLs within a string in HREF tags so that the HTML email reads properly in all email clients. Does anyone have a function for this?

  In many projects, we come across various utility methods, e.g. Email validation Convert from dd/mm/yyyy to mm/dd/yyyy or other date formats I would like to know as what are the varoius common utility method that we genrally use? I know that some methods are project specific but many will be common. I searched in net to get a list of as much as possible but none I found to be very informative. Could you please help? • Counting values in data frame subject to conditions

  I have been searching around and I cannot figure out how to sumarise the data I have in my data frame (subject to some ranges). I know that it can be done when applying some combination of daaply/taaply or table but I haven't been able to get the exact result I was expecting. Basically I want to turn this: part_no val1 val2 val3 2 1 2 3 45.3 2 1 3 4 -12.3 3 1 3 4 99.3 3 1 5 2 -3.2 3 1 4 3 -55.3 Into this: part_no val3_between0_50 val3_bw50_100 val3_bw-50_0 val3_bw-100_-50 2 1 0 0 1 0 3 0 1 0 1 1 This is dummy data, I got a lot more rows, but the idea is the same. I just want to count the number of values for a participant that meet certain condition. If anyone could explain it sort of step by step, I would really appreciate it. I saw lots of different little posts around, but none do exactly this and my attempts only got me half way there. Like using table, etc. Thanks!

• How to find text in images with the browser control+F

  Have HTML pages with many sections and each section has a section title displayed as an image (to use nice font). The problem is that even if I specify an 'alt' and 'title' text on each image/title the Ctrl+F browser functionality does not find the text. Thought two possible solutions but not very happy about them 1) Use embed fonts. Problem: Can not find the font required by client to use and not sure about copyrights. 2) Have the text in the image in DIV near the image but hidden from user view. Problem: Can search engines consider this keyword stuffing? Will browser find text if display:none Does anybody has a better solution? Thanks Riga

I am shooting for something like this: val seven = for { x <- 1 to 10 if x == 7 } return x And that does not compile. The two errors are: - return outside method definition - method main has return statement; needs result type I know find() would be better in this case, i am just learning and exploring the language.   Do search engines treat the alt text of an image placed within an h1 tag the same way they would treat regular text placed in an h1 tag? I gave a search through here looking for an answer to this question, but was only able to find information on image replacement and the infamous h1 debate. For example would: <h1><img src="#" alt="Contact Us" /></h1> Act the same as: <h1>Contact Us</h1> In the electronic eye of a search engine? This seems considerably less "CSS Hacky" than other image replacement techniques like negative text indents, display:none, height:0, or ridiculous z-index integers.

• How can I get class, property, and method data from files without executing their code, similar to R

  I have a bunch of PHP files with classes, in them (although I can't be 100% sure that they won't have code outside of classes in them too), and I need to parse these files to get information about the classes, such as the names of the classes, the methods, the properties, whether they are private/public/static, etc. I looked at PHP's reflection classes and this is very close to what I want but the reflection doesn't seem to use external files and it appears to need to define the classes first. I need to make sure that none of the code is executed and I will be editing the files so I can't guarantee that they will even be error-free. Any suggestions? Thanks.

• Problems deleting cookies, won't unset (PHP).

  I've tried searching the php manual and internet on how to delete cookies and I've tried it the exact same way they all say: setcookie("name", '', 1); or setcookie("name", '', time()-3600); But when I check the cookies in the cookies dialog in Firefox, it's still there with the same value. I set this cookie using the following line: setcookie("name", $value, time() + 259200, $path); I found this question on stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2497501/cookie-wont-unset, but none of the answers solved the problem. I also tried putting all paramaters in, like the author said, but it had no effect. Does anyone see the problem?

  Hi, What exactly the definition of a "Lisp form"? As far as I know, it's "either an atom or a list that has a symbol as its first element". But then, this (in Scheme) would not be a form: ((lambda () 42)) ;; The answer to Life, the Universe and Everything. Because the first element of the list is itself another list. And after it's evaluated it will be a procedure (not a symbol). I can find several different websites and tutorials talking about Lisp forms, but none which gives a complete and detailed definition. Where can I find one?

• Eclipse debug - line: not available

  I can't seem to find anything on google telling me why this might be and what the resolution is. I'm Stepping through third party code (that I have the source for) and would really like to see the current line being executed... Looking at javac compile flags, I see the -g:none flag. If this flag is set, would this be enough to explain why I'm not able to see line numbers? If so, why would someone do this, are there performance implications? Do I need to recompile the jar myself to attach the missing debug info (if possible)? Thanks!

  Alright I'm currently lost on a particular assignment I have for a class. I've seen many examples of this app but none of them see to help my problem is as follows: Write a Sub procedure "DisplaySquare" to display the solid square. The size should be specified by the integer parameter "size". The character that fills the square should be specified by the string parameter "fillCharacter. Use a For...Next statement nested within another For...Next statement to create the square. The outer For...Next specifies what row is currently being displayed. The inner For...Next appends all the characters that form the row to a display string. So it should come out like as follows: if a user enters "8" and "#" ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## ######## Any help would be appreciated.
