• Any good phone system on a Windows Environment ?

  Hello, I am looking for a phone system that integrate well with a (almost) 100% Microsoft. I would like something that can integrate with Exchange and Active Directory (in-phone searching/calling by name (is this possible using SIP ?), etc) and if possible something not too expensive (Bye bye Cisco !), what do you recommend me ? I've heard of 3CX as IPBX and Aastra as Phones, are they good for this ? Or do you know something else good at this ? I've also seen some Alcatel IP Phones doing this (search by name, but I think that was a separated address book and not loaded from AD/Exchange) Thank you !

• Read data from a folder in main domain folder (CPanel\WHM)

  I have defined a host in my CPanel\WHM server and put all my websites under one host account. The host Main Domain is domain.com, and all other websites are Add-on Domains: domain.com --folder --domain1 --domain2 --domain3 ... The thing I need is that when calling domain.com in browser, the server read files from another folder. for example when call http://domain.com it shows us http://domain.com/folder BUT I don't mean a redirection, I want server do this in background without showing visitors the real path. I couldn't do this with Domain WildCard Redirection because it got error. How can I do this? With htaccess or ... ?

• MBR seems to be gone

  So, horror story for everyone. I bought two spanking new HDD's. MM!! Gbitage. I removed all my old HDD's, physically labelled them, and was preparing to install all new HDD's (fresh sys install included!) To make sure what HDD was what, I popped each OLD HDD (data filleD!) into a Thermaltake Blacx toaster.. surprisingly BOTH couldn't be read. I didn't have static on my hands! I'm certain of it. I touched metal, touched wood, before beginning this all. Thinking that was strage, I hauled up the new sys, installed Win XP (of course!) on the new HDD, and now the two OLD HDD's (data filled!) that were entered into the toaster cannot be read. And they had tons of data on them. I read about MBR's being nuked and it sounds like that is what it is. But I'm at a loss what to do. There are so many MBR recovery programs out there, I kind of feel overwhelmed. I don't want to lose my data by just pikcing one, yet it seems so close within reach, I'm not panicking anymore.. Anybody have a play by play that I could follow? I just don't want to spend $900 on data recovery centers if I can do this myself..

• In a 2D tile-based game, how should NPCs and tiles reference each other?

  I'm making a tile engine for 2D games (seen from the top). Basically the world is composed of a grid of tiles. Now I want to put for instance NPCs that can move on the map. What do you think is best: 1) each tile has a pointer to the NPC that is on its tile, or a NULL pointer 2) having a list of NPCs, and they have the coordinates of the tile they are on. 3) something else? 1) is faster for collision detection but it would use much more memory space and it is slower to find all NPCs in a map. 2) is the opposite. thanks

  The new MobileMe iCal data lives in the cloud, and the data on your computer is actually a cache. This support article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4226 from Apple explains how to backup calendar data by exporting to an .ics file. I would like to automate that process via AppleScript, Automator or any other method (paid software is fine). The sticking point with AppleScript is selecting the calendar on the left hand column. In Automator I don't think the available actions support this level of automation.

• My pendrive is not working and showing Unknown file System

  I have a pendrive when I insert it into one o my port it shows in the My Computer but when I try to explore, it shows please insert a disk into drive H. However my usb drive is well inserted. I tried to format it but it is showing There is no disk in drive H, Insert a disk then try again. Its properties is showing Unknown File System and the used space and free space part showing 0 bytes. I cann't also check for errors in the drive. Its device status:The device is working properly. I also reinstalled the driver but that did not help me. Please suggest some way to recover the issue.   I have asked this question some time before as well - but here is the main problem out: MBR was defect, I used Boot-Repair that I could access my Win-xp partition With windows ext3 readers I can't access Under live-cds i can't access to my Ubuntu partition (not able to mount them) I didn't format them accidentialy or earsed them nor overwrote them. • Ubuntu 14.04 install fails with Via S3 UniChrome Pro graphics

  I am trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 on a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro laptop(it's quite old yes, has about 30GB Hard Drive and I think 192mb of RAM) which currently has Windows XP installed (which I'd like to keep for the time being). I have downloaded the 32-bit Desktop ISO and used unetbootin to create a Live USB for this laptop. When I boot from USB, I arrive at the unetbootin Grey and Blue menu and pick either "Try Ubuntu without installing", or "Install Ubuntu". The menu goes away and an Ubuntu loadscreen showing UBUNTU and four dots which progressively change between white and orange. At about the second color changing cycle a white underscore symbol appears next to the fourth dot and flickers. There is some leftover text from the kernel boot still visible, but there is no graphical desktop.   I'm doing front-end web development in a Solaris 10 / Sun Java System Web Server 7.0U2 environment. I have noticed that changes to static css or javascript files often do not take effect immediately, whereas changes to static html files always do. My best guess is that a default setting in the web server causes it to cache certain file types in order to provide reasonable performance out of the box. I don't have the admin server running--I'll need to edit the config files by hand. What change(s) can I make so that all of my css and javascript edits take effect immediately? Thanks!

• Minimal backup for Windows 7 system recovery

  There might not be an answer to this, but for a home Win7 system, what files/directories must be backed up to recover after a windows crash? I can reinstall software, and I keep data files elsewhere. When I use acronis home backup software to backup my "critical" files it seems to choose the entire partition. Updates are mostly browser cache files and the like. Or, after a crash, should I just reinstall windows. I dread the hours of windows updates that would require. Thanks.

  I'm in the planning stages of a new webapp, and I am leaning strongly toward a multitenancy model. The app has a file storage function, where the user can upload (and operate on) files. I would like the ability of the user to share these files, however. How is this typically accomplished in a multi-tenant model? The example would be something like google docs. Each user has their own files; they can edit and tag and build collections with these files. Then, they can share a doc or a collection with someone else for collaboration. If every user has their own Database and tables, what strategy would one use to allow this kind of sharing while minimizing duplication of files and associated metadata?

• Install Ubuntu side by side with Windows

  I'm trying to setup both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04 Desktop on the same machine. I've partitioned the disk into 3 parts, so that I can have Windows Ubuntu Shared Partition for Files I've installed Windows 7 on the first partition (which created a small partition of 100MB for boot), so now I have 4 partitions on the disk which is all it can take. Now I am installing Ubuntu, and it's asking me whether I want to: Install Ubuntu inside Windows 7 Replace Windows 7 with Ubuntu (No!) Something else I want the Ubuntu installation to go into the partition that I prepared for it. Should I choose "Something else"? If I do so -- will I be able to choose which OS to load at boot? Can anyone explain how "Ubuntu inside Windows" work? it says that it will allow me to choose which OS to load at boot, which is desired. UPDATE: When choosing "Something else" I see also an option for Device for Boot Loader Installation: /dev/sda -- the ssd disk itself /dev/sda1 -- the Windows 7 loader (100MB partition) /dev/sda4 -- which is one of the other partitions Which one should I choose there? TIA!

• RAID setup for maximizing data retention and read speed

  My goals are simple: maximize data retention safety, and maximize read speeds. My first instinct is to do a a three drive software RAID 1. I have only used fakeraid RAID 1 in the past and it was terrible (would have led to data loss actually if it weren't for backups) Would you say software raid 1 or a cheap actual hardware raid card? OS will be linux. Could I start with a two drive raid 1 and add a third drive on the fly? Can I hot swap? Can I pull one of the drives and throw it into a new machine and be able to read all the data? I do not want a situation where I have a raid card fail and have to try and find the same chipset in order to read my data (which i am assuming can happen) Please clarify any points on which it sounds like I have no idea what I am talking about, as I am admittedly inexperienced here. (My hardest lesson was fakeraid lol) Thanks!

• System stuttering caused by hard drive

  My system keeps freezing for about 1-2 second every time I try to do something. For example, when I enter URL in browser, it freezes and starts working after few seconds. It is probably related to hard drive. I installed HD tune and when benchmark is in progress, causing constant disk use, everything works fine in background, there are no lags. What can be the reason of this issue? My hardware is Acer Aspire 7740G-6969 running on Windows 7.
