  • How to disable Aero Peek during Alt+Tab?

    Aero Peek is a nice feature generally but I find it very annoying during Alt+Tabbing (peek windows hiding the switch dialog, it doesn't really work on multiple monitors etc.). Is there a way to disable Aero Peek only during the Alt+Tab operation? I don't want to turn it off glabally.

  • Starting Powerpoint show from ActiveX button

    I have several slide shows where topic related shows are launched from another show which acts as an index page. This worked fine in 2007 but now in Office 2010, whilst the show is still launched correctly from the index button, Powerpoint reopens on top of it, so now the show is hidden behind the Powerpoint startup page. Its very annoying, does anyone have any idea what is going on? Regards avondata

    On my Windows Vista PC, there is always an instance of "GoogleUpdate.exe" running. I find this annoying, so I'd like to make sure it doesn't start automatically. This proves to be not so easy, as I have tried these solutions: I disabled the "Google updateservice" service I removed the registry section "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\Google Update" None of these worked. The registry section is simply re-added. Does anyone know the trick to avoid GoogleUpdate.exe to be started after booting the system?

    I have a Spanish keyboard on my notebook, but I use it mostly for English and Chinese writing. This is how I configured the languages: However, Windows added some layouts on its own (probably when connecting via Remote Desktop to computers with different languages/layouts): Those layouts are all part of the AltShift cycle, which is extremely annoying. How can I remove ENG/US and ESP, considering they don't show in the configuration list? Is there a way to prevent them from being added again?

    On my old computer when you drag a window around, it seems to be cut up (like what you'd see in remote desktop on a slow connection) and its becoming really annoying. A few weeks when I was transferring data from it to my new laptop and it was working fine then however when I started it a few minutes ago this issue occurred.     I want to clear only JavaScript files from my web browsers (Firefox and Chrome). I am doing JavaScript debugging, and it's annoying that my JS just won't get updated whenever I change my JS files. The only thing I can do now is to clear my cookies, but doing that erases all of my browsing history. How can I clear/refresh the JavaScript files that have been loaded into my browsers without clearing out other files?

  • How do I turn off accent combining in Windows 7?

    I have English Windows 7 Professional with Hungarian keyboard language installed. The English keyboard layout works as expected, but for the Hungarian layout some kind of "accent combining" is activated. The effect of this ^+o becomes ô, ^+a becomes â, etc. This is not helpful at all, since the accented characters of Hungarian are already mapped to keys, but it's really annoying because I have to type a non-combining character to actually get ^. Is there any way to turn this "feature" off?

  • Stop playback of my voice when using mic during a call with twinkle voip

    Hi When I'm making voip calls with twinkle I can hear myself via the speakers. It's not like an echo you might get in empty room for example. While this is useful if you're trying to check if your mic is working, it's annoying when you're trying to have a conversion. Constantly trying to filter out your own voice. I'm using twinkle as my client. Is it my client or is it a setting on my ATA/ mic configuration?

  • Windows 7 Task Scheduler Hidden setting doesn't work

    I've got a daemon process that I run on my machine every hour, and even though I've checked the Hidden box, it doesn't work. Every hour, the task runs, but it shows the black command window, in which my .NET Console app is running. This stays visible until the task completes, and then disappears. This is very annoying, because it pops up and interrupts whatever I'm doing: I really do want it hidden, so how can I fix this?

  • Losing connection when watching flash videos

    Whenever I play a flash video on my browser (whichever I use, Chrome, Firefox or IE), there's a risk that I lose my Internet connection. I know it's limited to my computer only as my roommates are unaffected. I'm the only one that loses connection. Using Internet Explorer's diagnosis tool always repairs the connection, but it's annoying as hell. My OS is Windows XP, if that matters. Anyone knows what may be causing this and how to fix it?

    So I bought a Cyborg RAT 7 mouse a while back, and I love it, except for one thing: it's not automatically selecting the profile for the game I've just started. This is annoying because, for instance, I have the forward and back buttons, as well as the side scroll set up for weapon selection in some games, and if the proper profile isn't selected before starting the game, none of it works.     I am trying to add a stroke to a rectangle object, but if I add a 1px stroke, it places it 0.5px outside the edge of the rectangle and 0.5px inside the rectangle. I find this to be annoying when I want an object to be exactly 5px by 5px and it ends up becoming 6px by 6px. Is there a setting anywhere which places the stroke within the rectangle edge so a 5px by 5px square remains a 5px by 5px square. Please help.

It's accessible perfectly to everyone outside of my local network, but since I switched to a Gateway 2Wire DSL modem/router I'm unable to use the domain to access the server from my network. I can access it via a local IP or by putting it in my Windows hosts file but this is annoying to do on every computer and for every subdomain. Any idea how I can fix this? Thanks!

  • On a linux server how do you use multiple terminals over a single ssh connection?

    I often find myself opening several ssh connections in order to view several log files at a time with tail -f. This isn't a problem when I'm at home because I use public key encryption for password-less login. However, I will often use computer at my university to do this so I don't have the option of using my private key. It gets annoying to enter my password 4 or 5 times to get several terminal windows. How can I get multiple terminals over a single connection?

    Under uTorrent version 3.1.3 (and possibly earlier), the context menu has taken on 2 new options, "Transfer To...", for moving a download to a mobile device, and "Show Converted Files", for built-in conversion. I prefer to do all my file management and conversions manually, and the options are, at best, annoying space wasters. In fact, I'm not sure these features are even available outside of uTorrent Plus, which is not something I run. Is it possible to remove them from the context menu?

  • Disable default Gnome Shell Super Key Mapping

    Gnome Shell by default uses the Super (Windows) key to display the activities overview. But I'd prefer to use the Super key to invoke Synapse. Right now I have to press Super+Super+Spacebar in order to invoke Synapse which is annoying (Super+Spacebar is the binding to invoke Synapse). Is there any way to remove the default Gnome Shell mapping? In the keyboard shortcuts system settings, only the Alt+F1 binding appears for the activities overview action.

    I have Windows Vista installed on my machine and I am facing this really annoying problem. Whenever I open a folder having images, image thumbnails appear for an instant and they are replaced by standard file icon. Argh... Points to note: Setting "Always show icon, never thumbnail" is unchecked Running Windows Aero theme (with transparency support) Have 4GB of RAM on my machine so memory is not a problem Please can you suggest a solution?
