  • How can I install the latest full version of Canon ZoomBrowser EX without the original CD?

    ZoomBrowser EX comes with Canon cameras. Canon software enigeering team did a really poor job analyzing how people are using the software: people do lose their x-year old CD or do not have it with them when travelling do not have a CD drive at all (very common nowdays) Canon updater from their website does not allow you to install the software if it does not find the original CD in the drive. The question is how do I trick the installer to run on a computer and install the product that I payed for. Currently the latest version is 6.5.1.15 and you can download the updater from Canon website. In fact the updater is just the full installer but it doesn't allow you to install if it doesn't find a previous install or the original CD. Note: In the past I used to save a registry file with registry keys used by it, loading it did allowed me to run the installer but now, with Windows 7 x64 it seams that it doesn't work anymore.

    I set up a PXE server which hosts both Ubuntu Desktop and Ubuntu Server. Ubuntu Desktop is installed successfully from PXE.   • How do I resolve "No JSON object could be decoded" on mythbuntu live CD?

    I have been running a MythTV frontend on my laptop for some time against a MythTV backend installed in Linux Mint 12 on another computer, and everything works fine. Now, I'm trying out the Mythbuntu Live CD (12.04.1 32-bit) on the laptop, to turn it into a dedicated front end. It's connecting to the network just fine, and I can see my server. When I click on the frontend icon on the desktop, it asks me for the security code, which I've verified against mythtv-setup on the server. However, when I test that code, it shows the error message "No JSON object could be decoded". I've looked in the control center to see if there's something else I should be setting up. The message above implies to me that it can't find the server, but I can find no place in the control center to tell it where to find my myth backend, which I find a little odd. Does the live CD not work against a backend server on another machine?

    I installed Ubuntu on a old Windows XP computer using Dual Boot, i have no XP Cd and desperately need to remove it! EasyBCD does not work on windows XP, iF I just delete the Ubuntu partition all hell breaks loose and i have to reinstall ubuntu to get my XP back. Please help me i am only 12 and i have made a stupid error on my mum and dads computer and will get into serious trouble if i dont fix it soon!. Extra Information: I use the gnu boot loader to choose my operating system, but my mum and dad need my help to open a word document, they have only just grasped double clicking! I installed it off a cd that i made, the computer is 64-bit AMD Athlon with one 160gb hard drive, 512mb ram and a Sis mirage2 128mb shared video card. Its a COMPAQ presario.

    I am unable to boot from USB/CD into a live Ubuntu session to proceed with install. Esc or F12 didn't work and I can't seem to be able to enter the bios settings. Sony Vaio S w/ Ivy Bridge (just one month old, Insyde H2O EFI?) I have read about: creating /EFI/boot on a fat16 stick http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=12071096&postcount=2 installing rEFInd using the Alternate install CD (supposedly in order not to mess with W7 UEFI boot partition) It's pretty clear what I have to do afterwards http://askubuntu.com/a/157062 but I am at loss on how to simply boot into a Live Session then install.     I need to save a bunch of illustrations for web use, and I cannot find any 'crop to art dimensions' option when saving them. I've therefore been creating a new artboard for each illustration by clicking on the art with the artboard tool, then deleting the old artboard. This works OK except the new artboard ignores the stroke, so I then have to go back and tweak all the edges of the artboard before saving, or else the stroke edges get cut off. This gets old after hundreds of illustrations. Is there an easier way to do it?

    I want to be able to provide a URL to a music track, and when that track is played on an iPhone, to show the cover art. I've tried embedding the cover art as an ID3 v2.3 tag, and while desktop players like VLC and Windows Media Player can see it, it seems the iPhone doesn't. Is this possible? Does anyone know of a way to achieve this - preferably a method which can be automated? Edit: this may not be possible - even if I add cover art with iTunes, the resulting file will still not have the coverart displayed when played as a download :(

    I am trying a create a small Ubuntu installation ISO image. I am using a tool called Ubuntu-Builder. To make the final ISO as small as possible, I have decided to use Ubuntu Mini Remix. It is a small Live CD without GUI. It does not come with any installer software like Ubiquity. I want to embed an installer software into the ISO image so that user can install it into harddisk. In Ubuntu-Builder, I have tried the following: Install LXDE Desktop, then install Ubiquity. But the final ISO boots into command line. Install OpenBox Desktop, then install Ubiquity. But the final ISO boots into command line. Do not install DE, directly install Ubiquity. But the final ISO still boots into command line. After booting up from ISO, I have checked the software in the OS. It seems that Ubiquity has been installed. But it didn't show up when I boot the ISO image. Anyone knows how to install Ubiquity into a Live CD ISO image? Anyone knows any text mode installer which can replace Ubiquity?

Is there anything in Java API that lets you do this? If I were to start from scratch, would I need to start with the bluray disc spec? Are there any open source tools which are already doing this?     Hi, I'm trying to get ssh to automatically change to a particular directory when I log in. I tried to get that behaviour working using the following directives in ~/.ssh/config: Host example.net LocalCommand "cd web" but whenever I log in, I see the following: /bin/bash: cd web: No such file or directory although though there is definitely a web folder in my home directory. Even using an absolute path gives the same message. To be clear, if I type cd web after logging in I get to the right folder. What am I missing here? EDIT: Different combinations of quotes/absolute paths give different error messages: LocalCommand "cd web" /bin/bash: cd web: No such file or directory LocalCommand cd web /bin/bash: line 0: cd: web: No such file or directory LocalCommand cd /home/gareth/web /bin/bash: line 0: cd: /home/gareth/web: Input/output error This makes me think that the quotes shouldn't be there, and that there's another error happening.

    Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server won't boot from Fedora 12 DVD in the drive because it only supports CDs as I found out after the fact. I'm a complete novice @ servers, so if you need more detail, let me know, and I'll try to provide it. This server is around 4-6 years old. it has "PXE" boot, not sure what that means? This particular server has 3 RAID hard drives. As far as I know, they have all been wiped. I looked up the service tag on Dell, and it has: Compact Disk Drive, 650M, I Internal, Half Height, 48X, BlackHitachi LG Data Storage as its CD drive. Thus, the CD drive does not support DVDs, so installation will have to be via a live CD. However, I'm trying to put Amahi Home Server (http://www.amahi.org/), and Live CD/USB stick installs are not recommended unless one is an expert Linux user. any suggestions as to how to get around this?     I'm encountering issues installing Windows alongside my Lion install. I'm attempting to install from the internal SuperDrive, after using Boot Camp to partition what was a single, HFS+ volume. When holding down Option at boot, the CD appears in the startup list, but upon selecting it, I get a gray screen for 5 minutes, then a flashing white folder. I tried installing rEFIt and using this to boot the CD, but I receive an error about "Not Found" being returned from the "LocateDevicePath", and a mention of the firmware not supporting booting using legacy methods. The system is an early 2011 15" Macbook Pro, all firmware updates installed.

    I have asked a similar question before and no one was able to help me but I think it was because I wasn't phrasing it properly. This is a better restatement of the question. I have Windows 8 and Linux Mint dual booted on my pc. When I tried to boot the Linux from a CD ROM only, it would give me the following error: error: failure reading sector 0x0 from 'hd1' error: you need to load the kernel first. Press any key to continue... The Linux Mint works fine but otherwise, but it gives this error when I try to boot from CD. The boot Linux from CD only worked when I changed the Windows to Legacy mode in the BIOS settings. When I changed it back to UEFI, it would give the same error. Why is this? How can I fix it? I am somewhat new so is there anything else I should know about all of this? NOTE: I changed the Linux into UEFI mode using boot-repair but that still did not solve the problem when I tried to boot from CD ROM.

It's a real pain on the odd occasion I need to install a new package to have to fish out the install CD-ROM, and make it available to the VMware image so I can continue the package install. Is there any way to take the original installation media out of the list of source packages - I'm assuming all packages will be available on the internet. Thanks.
