  • Occasional weird Glassfish errors, resolved by a restart?

    - by Pooria
    I'm developing a web app using netbeans with GlassFishv3. Every once in a while when I add a new feature in my app, glassfish starts nagging with stupid errors, after a lot of time wasting and panicking, i restart glassfish and run my application again, then suddenly the errors all go away and my site starts acting correctly. (or in case I have made a real mistake, i receive a reasonable & descriptive error from GF.) [Edit: the rest of the question was revealed to have been my own mistake.] But the problems don't end there. Recently, i added the ability to write comments in a (JSF) page, after the user submits their comment, i add it to the database and redirect to the same page, so that hopefully the page refreshes with the new comment, but it wont! The underlying Mysql database shows that the new comment has been added, but the page just wont show the new comment! I've tried everything (e.g. deleting browser cache, using different browsers) but only after restarting GF is when the page shows the new comment! Do you have any idea what the problem could be? Could this be a Glassfish bug? What i am using: JSF2, EJB3.1, JPA, MySql

  • Passing Variables Along in a Function

    - by John
    Hello, In the function show_commentbox() below, I would like to pass along the variables $_SESSION['loginid'], $submissionid, $submission, $url, $submittor, $submissiondate, $countcomments, $dispurl. With the setup below, it's not working. How could I change it to make show_commentbox() pass the variables along? Thanks in advance, John index.php: <?php $submission = $_GET['submission']; require_once "header.php"; include "login.php"; include "comments.php"; include "commentformonoff.php"; ?> In header.php: require_once ("function.inc.php"); In comments.php: $uid = $_SESSION['loginid']; $submissiondate = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submissiondate']); $submittor = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submittor']); $countcomments = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['countcomments']); $dispurl = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['dispurl']); $url = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['url']); $submission = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submission']); $submissionid = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['submissionid']); commentformonoff.php: <?php if (!isLoggedIn()) { if (isset($_POST['cmdlogin'])) { if (checkLogin($_POST['username'], $_POST['password'])) { show_commentbox(); } else { echo "Login to comment"; } } else { echo "Login to comment"; } } else { show_commentbox(); } ?> In display.functions.inc.php: function show_commentbox() { echo '<form action="http://www...com/sandbox/comments/comments2.php" method="post"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$_SESSION['loginid'].'" name="uid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissionid.'" name="submissionid"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submission.'" name="submission"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$url.'" name="url"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submittor.'" name="submittor"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$submissiondate.'" name="submissiondate"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$countcomments.'" name="countcomments"> <input type="hidden" value="'.$dispurl.'" name="dispurl"> <label class="addacomment" for="title">Add a comment:</label> <textarea class="commentsubfield" name="comment" type="comment" id="comment" maxlength="1000"></textarea> <div class="commentsubbutton"><input name="submit" type="submit" value="Submit"></div> </form> '; }

  • Anonymous comments not saved in Drupal

    - by Marco
    For some reason I can no longer post a comment as an Anonymous user in my Drupal installation. I haven't tried in a while, so I'm not quite sure when this functionality was broken. I have Services installed, and I can post anonymous comments using comment.save. I have altered the Input Formats if that could break something. I have enabled both post comments and access comments on the anonymous user. The comments does not show up in the database. In fact, the native Drupal function comment_save isn't called when I try to comment as Anonymous (I check this by adding print_r($edit);die(); at the top of the comment_save function in comment.module. Also I read something that not having a User with the UID 0 would break the Anonymous commenting, this user exists (obviously, since commenting through Services works) I have tried out the AntiSpam module, and posted a comment as Anonymous that would get caught(and did) in the spamfilter, but this module is now disabled. I'm really running out of ideas here, does anyone have any other suggestions on what to do? In the meanwhile I'm going to attempt to backtrack the code to figure out why comment_save() isn't being called. Edit: Anonymous users also don't have to submit email and such to post, if that matters in any way.

  • Posting a form with anchor link at the end?

    - by Marcus
    I have a form for comments like the one below but after the form is posted I wish to navigate to http://www.myurl.com/mypage#commentform but I don't know how to do this. Instead of changing my form maybe there is a way to return a View with my model and add #commentform to my url? <div id="commentform"> <h2>Leave a comment</h2> <% using (Html.BeginForm("Comment","Post", FormMethod.Post)) %> <% { %> <div> <%=Html.EditorFor(post => post.Comment) %> <div class="editor-button"> <input type="submit" value="Comment" /> </div> </div> <% } %> </div>

  • Need to write at beginning of file with PHP

    - by Timothy
    I'm making this program and I'm trying to find out how to write data to the beginning of a file rather than the end. "a"/append only writes to the end, how can I make it write to the beginning? Because "r+" does it but overwrites the previous data. $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); Here is my whole file: <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <html> <head> <title>Facebook v0.1</title> <style type="text/css"> #bod{ margin:0 auto; width:800px; border:solid 2px black; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="bod"> <?php $fname = $_REQUEST['fname']; $lname = $_REQUEST['lname']; $comment = $_REQUEST['comment']; $datab = $_REQUEST['datab']; $gfile = $_REQUEST['gfile']; print <<<form <table border="2" style="margin:0 auto;"> <td> <form method="post" action=""> First Name : <input type ="text" name="fname" value=""> <br> Last Name : <input type ="text" name="lname" value=""> <br> Comment : <input type ="text" name="comment" value=""> <br> <input type ="submit" value="Submit"> </form> </td> </table> form; if((!empty($fname)) && (!empty($lname)) && (!empty($comment))){ $form = <<<come <table border='2' width='300px' style="margin:0 auto;"> <tr> <td> <span style="color:blue; font-weight:bold;"> $fname $lname : </span> $comment </td> </tr> </table> come; $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r+"); fputs($datab, $form); fclose($datab); }else if((empty($fname)) && (empty($lname)) && (empty($comment))){ print" please input data"; } // end table $datab = fopen('database.txt', "r"); while (!feof($datab)){ $gfile = fgets($datab); print "$gfile"; }// end of while ?> </div> </body> </html>

  • reorder XML elements or set an explicit template with XSLT

    - by Sash
    I tried the solution in my previous question (flattening XML to load via SSIS package), however this isn't working. I now know what I need to do, however I need some guidance on how to do it. So say I have the following XML structure: <person id="1"> <name>John</name> <surname>Smith</surname> <age>25</age> <comment> <comment_id>1</comment_id> <comment_text>Hello</comment_text> </comment> <comment> <comment_id>2</comment_id> <comment_text>Hello again!</comment_text> </comment> <somethingelse> <id>1</id> </somethingelse> <comment> <comment_id>3</comment_id> <comment_text>Third Item</comment_text> </comment> </person> <person id="2"> <name>John</name> <surname>Smith</surname> <age>25</age> <somethingelse> <id>1</id> </somethingelse> </person> ... ... If I am to load this into a SSIS package, as an XML source, what I will essentially get is a table created for each element, as opposed to get a structured table output such as person table (name, surname, age) somethingelse table (id) comment table (comment_id, comment_text) What I end up getting is: person table (person_Id <-- internal SSIS id) name table surname table age table person_name table person_surname table person_comment_comment_id table etc... What I found was that if each element and all inner elements are not in the same format and consistency, i will get the above anomaly which makes it rather complex especially if I am dealing with 80 - 100+ columns. Unfortunately I have no way of modifying the system (Lotus Notes) that produces these reports, so I was wondering whether I may be able to explicitly have an XSLT template that will be able to align each person sub elements (and the sub collection elements such as comments ? Unless there is a quicker way to realign all inner elements. Seems that SSIS XML source requires a very consistent XML file in the sense of: if the name element is in position 1, then all subsequent name elements within person parent have to be in position 1. SSIS seems to pickup the inconsistencies if there are certain elements missing from one parent to another, however, if their ordering is not right (A, B, C)(A, B, C)(A,C,B), it will chuck a massive fuss! All help is appreciated! Thank you in advance.

  • Using a join with three tables when a field might be null

    - by John
    Hello, The code below works great. It combines data from two MySQL tables. I would like to modify it by pulling in some data from a third MySQL table called "comment." In the HTML table below, "title" is a field in the MySQL table "submission." Every "title" has a corresponding "submissionid" field. The field "submissionid" is also found in the "comment" MySQL table. In the HTML table below, I would like "countComments" to equal the number of times a field called "commentid" appears in the MySQL table "comment" for any given "submissionid," where the "submissionid" is the same in both the "submission" and "comment" tables, and where the "submissionid" corresponds to the "title" being used. Here's the catch: if there is no row in the MySQL table "comment" that corresponds with the "submissionid" being used for "table", I would like "countComments" to equal to zero. How can I do this? Thanks in advance, John $sqlStr = "SELECT s.loginid, s.title, s.url, s.displayurl, l.username FROM submission AS s, login AS l WHERE s.loginid = l.loginid ORDER BY s.datesubmitted DESC LIMIT 10"; $result = mysql_query($sqlStr); $arr = array(); echo "<table class=\"samplesrec\">"; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename1"><a href="http://www.'.$row["url"].'">'.$row["title"].'</a></td>'; echo '</tr>'; echo '<tr>'; echo '<td class="sitename2"><a href="http://www...com/sandbox/members/index.php?profile='.$row["username"].'">'.$row["username"].'</a><a href="http://www...com/sandbox/comments/index.php?submission='.$row["title"].'">'.$row["countComments"].'</a></td>'; echo '</tr>'; } echo "</table>";

  • Including associations optimization in Rails

    - by Vitaly
    Hey, I'm looking for help with Ruby optimization regarding loading of associations on demand. This is simplified example. I have 3 models: Post, Comment, User. References are: Post has many comments and Comment has reference to User (:author). Now when I go to the post page, I expect to see post body + all comments (and their respective authors names). This requires following 2 queries: select * from Post -- to get post data (1 row) select * from Comment inner join User -- to get comment + usernames (N rows) In the code I have: Post.find(params[:id], :include => { :comments => [:author] } But it doesn't work as expected: as I see in the back end, there're still N+1 hits (some of them are cached though). How can I optimize that?

  • Which type of Rails model association should I use in this situation?

    - by jstayton
    I have two models/tables in my Rails application: discussions and comments. Each discussion has_many comments, and each comment belongs_to a discussion. My discussions table also includes a first_comment_id column and last_comment_id column for convenience and speed. I want to be able to call discussion.last_comment for the last comment model, but the following (in my discussion model) isn't working to make this happen: has_one :first_comment, :class_name => "Comment" has_one :last_comment, :class_name => "Comment" When I call discussion.last_comment, the following SQL is run: SELECT * FROM `comments` WHERE (`comments`.discussion_id = 1) LIMIT 1 It's using the discussions.id column to join against comments.discussion_id, when I want it to join discussions.last_comment_id against comments.id. Am I using the wrong type of association here? Thanks for your help!

  • Is there a way to make XmlDocument parsing less strict

    - by Istrebitel
    I am making a program that will store its data in an XML file. When people write XML they can make subtle mistakes, like ending a comment with - so it looks like <!-- comment ---> or adding a </>inside an attribute. Naturally, the XML still can be read all right, but trying to input this text into XmlDocument will give a syntax error (and it wont be parsed). Is there a way to make XmlDocument less strict and make it ignore violations of the standard that do not make the document unparseable? For example, its clear that <!-- comment ---> is still a comment even though it contains - at the end which is against the standard specification).

  • group by, order by, with join

    - by Scarface
    Hey guys, quick question, I have this query, and I am trying to get the latest comment for each topic and then sort those results in descending order (therefore one comment per topic). I have what I think should work, but my join always messes my results up. Somehow, it seems to have sorted the end results properly, but has not taken the latest comment from each topic instead it seems to have just taken a random comment. If anyone has any ideas, would really appreciate any advice SELECT * FROM comments JOIN topic ON topic.topic_id=comments.topic_id WHERE topic.creator='admin' GROUP BY comments.topic_id ORDER BY comments.time DESC table comments is structured like id time user message topic_id table topic is structured like topic_id subject_id topic_title creator timestamp description

    given this xml: <root> <list> <!-- foo's comment --> <item name="foo" /> <item name="bar" /> <!-- another foo's comment --> <item name="another foo" /> </list> </root> I'd like to use a XPath to select all item-nodes that have a comment immediately preceding them, that is I like to select the "foo" and "another foo" items, but not the "bar" item. I already fiddled about the preceding-sibling axis and the comment() function but to no avail.

  • Wordpress: Issues trying to display all comments in one page

    - by KeyStroke
    Hi, I'm trying to modify my wordpress theme (inove) to display all comments in the same page instead of 50 comments per page. I opened the comments.php file, commented out calls to paginate_comments_links() and and set the wp_list_comments() as follows: wp_list_comments('type=comment&callback=custom_comments&per_page=100&page=1'); The problem is, whenever someone posts a comments, the comment form appends '/comment-page-2/' to the URL after submitting the comment, even though I've specified that all comments to be displayed on the same page. Any idea what I could be missing? Appreciate your help

  • basic database design table on rails

    - by runcode
    I am confuse on a concept. I am doing this on rails. Is that Entity set equal to a table in the database? Is that Relationship set equal to a table in the database? Let say we have Entity set "USER" and Entity set "POST" and Entity set "COMMENT" User- can post many posts and comments as they want Post- belong to users Comments-belong to posts ,users, so comment is weak entity. SCHEMA ====== USER -id -name POST -id -user_id(FK) -comment_id (FK) COMMENT -id -user_id (FK) -post_id (FK) so USER,POST,COMMENT are tables I think. And what else is a table? And do I need a table for the relationship??

  • How to do comments in Activity Stream? (like Facebook)

    - by fesja
    Hi, I'm starting to develop an activity stream. I've read both How to implement the activity stream in a social network and What’s the best manner of implementing a social activity stream?. What I haven't found is the best way to add comments to the activities. As in facebook, each comment can be commented by another person. If each activity comment is saved as another activity, then I would not be able to get the activity of that comment without doing a query. So the solution I'm thinking is to save the comments inside the serialize data field of each activity. If the user wants to delete his comment, I would have to update that activity. Is this the correct solution? Is there a better approach? Thanks!

  • Sed: regular expression match lines without <!--

    - by sixtyfootersdude
    I have a sed command to comment out xml commands sed 's/^\([ \t]*\)\(.*[0-9a-zA-Z<].*\)$/\1<!-- Security: \2 -->/' web.xml Takes: <a> <!-- Comment --> <b> bla </b> </a> Produces: <!-- Security: <a> --> <!-- Security: <!-- Comment --> --> // NOTE: there are two end comments. <!-- Security: <b> --> <!-- Security: bla --> <!-- Security: </b> --> <!-- Security: </a> --> Ideally I would like to not use my sed script to comment things that are already commented. Ie: <!-- Security: <a> --> <!-- Comment --> <!-- Security: <b> --> <!-- Security: bla --> <!-- Security: </b> --> <!-- Security: </a> --> I could do something like this: sed 's/^\([ \t]*\)\(.*[0-9a-zA-Z<].*\)$/\1<!-- Security: \2 -->/' web.xml sed 's/^[ \t]*<!-- Security: \(<!--.*-->\) -->/\1/' web.xml but I think a one liner is cleaner (?)   • What's a good way to integrate FB and Twitter into my commenting system (PHP)

    - by Jason
    Hi Guys, There are so many options out there for integration. At the moment I have comments that are posted on my articles, where a user types in their name and the comment. This is then sent to a moderation queue and displayed when approved. I want to acheive this: Comment with facebook login (ie facebook account listed as the name w/ avatar) Comment with twitter login (ie twitter account name listed as the name w/ avatar) Push comment from my website to twitter and to facebook I could go down a few paths as far as I know: Integrate with XFBML, which I don't like because I find it annoying to setup and messy. Integrate facebook comments system, although this can't push to twitter, or allow me to moderate comments from my backend (as far as I can tell i'd have to login under the facebook login for the dev account to moderate the comment) Find a php class that does open auth and integrate with both face book and twitter at once find a pre-created php class Anyone have a solution that will bias: a. easy to integrate b. lightweight c. is free Thanks for your suggestions in advance.
