• Advice Needed on Development of ConnectionWizard Custom Control

  I have the need for an ASP.NET custom server control that will check the web.config file for a connectionstring name, prompt the user to create said connectionstring if not present, and execute create table stored procedures using the connection. This control will be embedded into a webpart for use in a WSS3.0 solution. Can anyone suggest some good tutorials on creating this type of control - specifically addressing use of connectionstrings? What methods/classes do I need to setup? Should I use the p&p data application block for this project? Thanks, Sid

• Android ImageButton / Custom-Button?

  Hi everyone, I am new to android development. So far I could help myself in all matters by reading threads here on stackoverflow. Now I am stuck and need someones help. Unfortunately I am not allowed to post an image of a screenshot because I am a new mamber, so I try to descripe it. I have a Samsung Galasy S and the clock app that ships with it has an button called "+ Create alarm". I want to create a similar button for my app. I've been experimenting with ImageButton. I do know how to get that "+"-Icon onto an ImageButton, but only centered and without text. I guess this is a custom button. Does anyone know how to do this? Can I do it in xml or do I need to extend the view-class and make it my own view?

  Hello all, I created a simple custom control that only inherits from the Literal control, and doesn't have any extensions yet, code is empty. Namespace: CustomControls Class name: Literal : System.Web.UI.WebControls.Literal Next thing I do is registering this control in the aspx page as following: <%@ Register TagPrefix="web" Namespace="CustomControls" % (I read in few tutorials that this is one of the ways to register it, besides web.config etc.) After all, no intellisence for me, and worse- I get a parse error 'unknown server tag: web' when I try to run the page with the control in it. I used 'create new project' and not new website, in case this info is needed. What could be my problem? Thanks in advance.

• Batch convert Malformed PDFs to TIF on Linux

  I need to convert a multipage PDF to TIF, but it appears to be a malformed PDF provided by our client. I tried using ImageMagick and GhostScript, but they do not convert the file correctly. The result is only about 85-90% correct. The only thing I've found that appears to do the job is GIMP, but I can't find an example to use it via its Batch Processing methods for PDFs. • 404 on custom post types after updating Wordpress to 3.7

  Since I updated Wordpress from 3.6 to 3.7, I'm not able to visit the single-pages on my custom post types, then I get a 404 error. I thought this would be a rewrite_rules issue, so I've tried the following: -Go to the Permalink settings, click save (flush rewrites) -Manually deleted the rewrite_rules from the option table in the DB (I was desparate, and it seriously worked for me one time) -Re-check my .htaccess, but this is the exactly same as instructed on the permalink page -switched off the plugins I also tried switching the permalink to the "ugly" url (eg. ?page=35) and check if the articles worked, and they did! So I'm pretty sure it's a permalink issue. Now I rolled back to 3.6 again, but I of course want to upgrade in the near future (security etc.). A remarkable thing was that during the rollback I checked out a single page (notice that I didn't rolled back the database yet, only the files) and surprisingly they worked again. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

  Does anyone know of a place where you can create your own handwritten font for free? I used to use http://www.yourfonts.com/, but now they want money. Is there some sort of free, downloadable tool to do this? BTW: There are some online programs that allow the user to create a font using a mouse. (See this question). Very cool. But, I want something that can take a scan and turn it into a font file. Any ideas?

• Missing Font on Page in Firefox, Worked before and Still Works Now in Other Browsers

  On any new Steam profile, there are many parts of the page (such as the username) that is supposed to be following this font hierarchy: 'Motiva Sans Thin',Arial,Helvetica,Verdana,sans-serif However, Motiva Sans Thin is not showing in Firefox anymore. It used to several days earlier, but now it reverts to Arial. Chrome, the Steam client, and other browsers still display Motiva Sans Thin, which leads me to believe it's still in my system's fonts, or still being provided as a web font. I have tried creating a new Firefox profile to no avail. It's been doing this for about two weeks now. Why is Firefox no longer displaying the font when it used to, and other browsers still do? How can I fix this? Thanks.

  Graphical programs are such a pain sometimes. I am of an age where 1024x768 is the highest resolution that I can see. I had set my Windows 7 system fonts to be 125% - that helps a lot - but it screws up the tool bars on many other programs so I've reverted to 100% and it's now too hard to read in many cases. Most browsers will let you easily scale text font size as will the "message" window of Thunderbird (aside from setting the default font size for reading messages to 24 point, CTRL + + works wonders). However, I cannot seem to find a way to set the font size for the other panes - the Folders pane and the inbox pane. Is there some undocumented way to do that?

Since it does not really make sense to start off a entirely new control, i'd like to override the Windows Chrome template binding for the Bulletchrome sub component of the checkbox. GoDaddy allows you to setup a 404 in their control panel, but I can't override this, or setup any additional error redirects, specifically a 500-server error. • Custom UITableViewCell changing indexPath While Scrolling ?

  I have a custom UITableViewCell which I created in Interface Builder. I am successfully Dequeuing cells, but as I scroll, the cells appear to begin calling different indexPaths. In this example, I am feeding the current indexPath.section and indexPath.row into the customCellLabel. As I scroll the table up and down, some of the cells will change. The numbers can be all over the place, but the cells are not skipping around visually. If I comment out the if(cell==nil), then the problem goes away. If I use a standard cell, the problem goes away. I looked at the sales_order table, and sure enough, increment_id is null... can anyone help me out, I am stumped?   I'm trying to implement my own GenericIdentity implementation but keep receiving the following error when it attempts to load the views (I'm using asp.net MVC): System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException was unhandled by user code Message="Type is not resolved for member 'OpenIDExtendedIdentity,Training.Web, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'." Source="WebDev.WebHost" I've ended up with the following class: [Serializable] public class OpenIDExtendedIdentity : GenericIdentity { private string _nickName; private int _userId; public OpenIDExtendedIdentity(String name, string nickName, int userId) : base(name, "OpenID") { _nickName = nickName; _userId = userId; } public string NickName { get { return _nickName; } } public int UserID { get { return _userId; } } } In my Global.asax I read a cookie's serialized value into a memory stream and then use that to create my OpenIDExtendedIdentity object. I ended up with this attempt at a solution after countless tries of various sorts. It works correctly up until the point where it attempts to render the views. What I'm essentially attempting to achieve is the ability to do the following (While using the default Role manager from asp.net): User.Identity.UserID User.Identity.NickName ... etc. I've listed some of the sources I've read in my attempt to get this resolved. • Custom DateTime model binder in Asp.net MVC

  I would like to write my own model binder for DateTime type. First of all I'd like to write a new attribute that I can attach to my model property like: [DateTimeFormat("d.M.yyyy")] public DateTime Birth { get; set,} This is the easy part. But the binder part is a bit more difficult. I would like to add a new model binder for type DateTime. I can either implement IModelBinder interface and write my own BindModel() method inherit from DefaultModelBinder and override BindModel() method My model has a property as seen above (Birth). So when the model tries to bind request data to this property, my model binder's BindModel(controllerContext, bindingContext) gets invoked. Everything ok, but. How do I get property attributes from controller/bindingContext, to parse my date correctly? How can I get to the PropertyDesciptor of property Birth? Edit Because of separation of concerns my model class is defined in an assembly that doesn't (and shouldn't) reference System.Web.MVC assembly. Setting custom binding (similar to Scott Hanselman's example) attributes is a no-go here.

I have one method attached to the HttpApplication.AuthenticateRequest event, which calls this method in the case of authentication failure: private static void RejectWith401(HttpApplication app) { app.Response.StatusCode = 401; app.Response.StatusDescription = "Access Denied"; app.CompleteRequest(); } This method is attached to the HttpApplication.EndRequest event: public void OnEndRequest(object source, EventArgs eventArgs) { var app = (HttpApplication) source; if (app.Response.StatusCode == 401) { string val = String.Format("Basic Realm=\"{0}\"", "MyCustomBasicAuthentication"); app.Response.AppendHeader("WWW-Authenticate", val); } } This code adds the "WWW-Authenticate" header which tells the browser to throw up the login dialog. This works perfectly when I debug locally using Visual Studio's web server. But it fails when I run it in IIS7. For IIS7 I have the built-in authentication modules all turned off, except anonymous. It still returns an HTTP 401 response, but it appears to be removing the WWW-Authenticate header. Any ideas?

• How can I programatically create this custom binding?

  We've got to access a web service that uses soap11... no problem I'll just set the binding as: BasicHttpBinding wsBinding = new BasicHttpBinding(BasicHttpSecurityMode.TransportWithMessageCredential); Nope. No dice. So I asked the host of the service why we're having authentication issues and he said that our config needed to have this custom binding: <bindings> <customBinding> <binding name="lbinding"> <security authenticationMode="UserNameOverTransport" messageSecurityVersion="WSSecurity11WSTrustFebruary2005WSSecureConversationFebruary2005WSSecurityPolicy11" securityHeaderLayout="Strict" includeTimestamp="false" requireDerivedKeys="true" keyEntropyMode="ServerEntropy"> </security> <textMessageEncoding messageVersion="Soap11" /> <httpsTransport authenticationScheme ="Negotiate" requireClientCertificate ="false" realm =""/> </binding> </customBinding> </bindings> Only problem is we're creating our binding programmatically not via the config. So if someone could point me in the right direction in regards to changing my BasicHttpBinding into a custombinding that conforms to the .config value provided I'll give them a big shiny gold star for the day.
