• Deleting... dialog box stays on screen for over a minute when deleting one small file

  Every now and again I log into a Windows Server 2003 box with a remote desktop connection and delete one small file. When I do this, the Deleting... dialog box appears and remains on the screen for well over a minute. After the dialog box disappears, if I delete another small file, the Deleting... dialog box appears then disappears quickly. Why does it take so long to delete the first file after logging into a Windows Server 2003 box with a remote desktop connection? Is there a trick to speeding it up?

• Cannot get debconf version after delete /var/lib/dpkg

  As a new ubuntu user, I just make a mistaken. I've deleted a folder /var/lib/dpkg/ instead of /var/lib/dpkg/lock :) Now when I execute apt-get -f install then it will display error message: ... E: Cannot get debconf version. Is debconf installed? debconf: apt-extracttemplates failed: No such file or directory ... I've try this tutorial: http://people.adams.edu/~cdmiller/posts/Ubuntu-dpkg-recovery/ but still no luck. How can I fix this issue?

• Can I delete Generic kernel if I use Generic

  I currently can't update my release as there is not enough space on boot.   I have a list of names and their assorted properties. I am trying to find a way to quickly move an entire row's worth of data into a different sheet so I can manipulate it. Currently I can accomplish this by copy and pasting the entire row, but this is not elegant nor dynamic (the number in blue does not update with this method): My ideal solution: A name is typed into the "Name" column. The spreadsheet program pulls the associated row from the "main" sheet into the new sheet. I am currently using Numbers.app, but am curious if this is possible in Excel, OpenOffice Calc, Google Docs, or any other spreadsheet program. Thank you.

• MySQL dump, output each table row on a new line whilst using --extended-insert

  I'm having an issue, where for ease of use, I'd like to be able to format a command line MySQL dump so that each row of a given table is on a new line when using the --extended-insert option. Usually when using --extended-insert, every row of a given table is outputted on one line, and as far as I am aware there's no way to change this, other than post-processing the dump with perl or such like. The format I'm looking for is: -- -- Dumping data for table `ww_tbCountry` -- INSERT INTO `ww_tbCountry` (`iCountryId_PK`, `vCountryName`, `vShortName`, `iSortFlag`, `fTax`, `vCountryCode`, `vSageTaxCode`) VALUES (22, 'Albania', 'AL', 1, 0.00, '8', 'T9'), (33, 'Austria', 'AT', 1, 15.00, '40', 'T9'), (40, 'Belarus', 'BY', 1, 0.00, '112', 'T9'), (41, 'Belgium', 'BE', 1, 15.00, '56', 'T9'), (51, 'Bulgaria', 'BG', 1, 15.00, '100', 'T9' However, when I dump a database using Phpmyadmin, using --extended-insert, each row is dumped on a new line (as shown by the example above). I can see those cache from Way back Machine and the site was indexed in Yahoo, but not in google. Did I get my index on Google deleted because I did not update it often? Normally Google crawl often and index fast, I just got really worried if I did something wrong. Is it possible that I set something wrong in the hosting or something? Please help me

  Random question, and I'm sure it has a very simple answer, if not already asked and answered in some shape or form. How do you selectively delete entries from the autocomplete history dropdown thingy? For example, in the Run dialog box, typing a few letters will display a dropdown box with a history of matchine entries that you have previously run. I swear I used to be able to delete from the list by using the arrow keys to highlight and then press the DEL key. Regardless of whether this is true or not, is there any way to selectively delete entries from this list? Another example is the dropdown list in the Remote Desktop Connection dialog box.

• Accidental deletion of the Gmail (IMAP) Trash 'System Label' in Evolution

  I am using 11.04 and Evolution 2.32.2 I accidentally deleted the Gmail (IMAP) Trash 'System Label' in Evolution. Because this is Gmail object and (not a label per say), it is not deletable in Gmail. Under my Gmail account settings, I have made sure that both, 'Show in Label List' and 'Show in IMAP' are checked. That being said, I cannot seem to restore this IMAP folder in Evolution. I deleted the affected mail account, re-created, restarted Evolution, and no change. Any thoughts? Thanks.

• I can't delete a file - even when using unlocker

  So I have a 64 bit windows 7 ultimate computer. On my desktop, I have a .iso file that should NOT be used by anything. However, when I use lockhunter (unlocker doesn't work for me), it says it can't unlock or delete it. When I check what it's being used by, it says by the system. I've also tried eraser erase on startup, but that doesn't work, either. How can I remove this file?

• Cannot Delete "Account Unknown" account in Windows XP SP3

  If I Right click on My Computer, Select Properties, then click on Advanced-User Profiles-Settings, I get a list of user accounts on my machine and I see a few that are "Account Unknown" in there with large profiles and I want my space back. I am assuming this is because these users are long gone and AD no longer recognizes their SIDs. The problem is that the Delete button is grayed out, but only for the accounts, the ones that are recognized, I can delete jsut fine. These accounts do not show up in Computer Management at all, and I am an administrator on my machine - any ideas on how to delete them?

• Weird files in User folder

  In my user folder (C:/Users/myAccount/) theres a set of interesting hidden files that I've never seen before (right now it's a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate). These are: NTUSER.DAT, ntuser.dat.LOG1, ntuser.dat.LOG2, and NTUSER.DAT(whole chain of numbers and letters).TM.bif, NTUSER.DAT(whole chain of numbers and letters).TMContaineretcetc.regtrans-ms, and another similar one. When I try to delete them, it says the system is using them. I've never seen these files before. Are they ok to delete? Or should I leave them in my home folder? I always keep "Show hidden files" as well as "Show System files" checked, since I prefer being able to see all the files on my computer. If I shouldn't delete them, is there at least a way to tidy them up a bit? Thanks.

I realized that if I delete it normally, it would probably go to the recycle bin of my SSD. I am wondering how I can delete the files on my HDD without affecting the SSD or putting any files on it.   Word has the feature to repeat title row of a table when a table is so long that it spans a bunch of pages. I need to categorize my data into several pages, and I did that by splitting the table and insert page split to put them all in a page of itself. So now I got several page of data, but only the first page has title row. Is there anyway else to do this beside manually adding the title row to all the other pages? • Excel table column validation next row

  I made a table with first column formatted to DATE. In the first row I entered the date manually. In SECOND column I entered validation of date = previous date. I copied this table 8 times. In 5 tables when row is added the validation also appears in the next cell, but in 3 tables it does not. How can I correct this? I tried making a similar new table but the validation condition does not appear in the new row. Please reply.

But the fact is that now I cannot get rid of it : rm -rf rm: missing operand Try 'rm --help' for more information. Other try : rm /-/r rm: cannot remove ‘/-/r’: No such file or directory Another one : rm \-r rm: missing operand Try 'rm --help' for more information. Is there a way to remove this file without deleting the whole directory ? Thanks.

• Deleting file in Samba doesn't delete file?

  Why, when I delete some files in Samba, does it not delete them but instead merely change their filename from filename.txt to ._filename.txt? This is not the behaviour one would expect when "deleting" a file, so I'm wondering if there's an option I forgot to set somewhere in the samba config. It does this to some files but not to others, I have not yet spotted a pattern to its choosiness. There is a Ubuntu 12.04 machine and a Mac OS X machine which have write (and thus delete) capability, no Windows machines have write permission.

  I'm trying to get a sprite sheet clipped in the right order but I'm a bit stumped, every iteration I've tried has tended to be in the wrong order. This is my current implementation. Frames = (TempSurface->h / ClipHeight) * (TempSurface->w / ClipWidth); SDL_Rect Clips[Frames]; for (i = 0; i < Frames; i++) { if (i != 0 && i % (TempSurface->h / ClipHeight) == 0) ColumnIndex++; Clips[i].x = ColumnIndex * ClipWidth; Clips[i].y = i % (TempSurface->h / ClipHeight) * ClipHeight; Clips[i].w = ClipWidth; Clips[i].h = ClipHeight; } Where TempSurface is the entire sheet loaded to a SDL_Surface and Clips[] is an array of SDL_Rects. What results from this is a sprite sheet set to SDL_Rects in the wrong order. For example I need a sheet of dimensions 4x4 to look like this: | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | | 8 | 9 | 10| 11| | 12| 13| 14| 15| But instead I get this order: | 0 | 4 | 8 | 12| | 1 | 5 | 9 | 13| | 2 | 6 | 10| 14| | 3 | 7 | 11| 15| Columns and rows order does not match. What should I do to fix the order?
