  • Drupal does not recognize my website has been installed

    After a successful Drupal install, I was trying to follow the security recommendations and reverted the settings.php file to 444 permissions (read, read, read). Then, all of a sudden, right after doing that, Drupal does not recognize the installation process was completed. It went back to the install screen. Worst of all. I did chmod back to 666 (write, write, write) but it does not work any more. When I move forward as if I was going to install Drupal again, he tells me he does not have permissions to create the files folder under sites/default... But since the installation has already been completed... the files folder is already there... I am puzzled... Could it be some sort of server caching? Since this is one of my first adventures with a Linux server, I am a bit confused. Any help appreciated... Thanks.

  • Debugging Drupal 6

    OK, I've read and attempted all of the tutorials I can find on being able to debug a locally installed Drupal 6 instance. I'm on Windows, 32-bit. I have access to Eclipse (obviously) as well as Visual Studio 2005/2008. I've yet to be able to get any of the Eclipse options (XDebug, Zend, etc.) working to be able to step through code, inspect variables, etc. I've heard good things about VS.PHP, but haven't committed to the $100 or whatever it is. Can some of your PHP/Drupal gurus out there tell me the best, simplest, most reliable way to debug Drupal and PHP on the Windows platform?

  • file_get_contents not working with non english filenames in DRUPAL

    Hello. I have a problem. file_get_contents and other file functions (like file, fopen, glob etc) not working when i try to get file with non english symbols. I getting error that file not exist. It is going when i using any of that functions from my simple drupal module. But same time when i try to use file_get_contents outside drupal's code (just created separated php file) this function work as it should. Can you advice something?? What drupal doing so i can't use file functions on file with non english name from my module? Thanks.

  • Drupal install on remote mysql

    I am trying to install drupal on remote mysql server. I have created the user in mysql and granted the the privileges. I am able to connect through command line from my web server like this "mysql -u xxxx -h 10.xxx.yy.zz3 -p". But when I tried to install drupal I get "SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user 'xxxx'@'localhost'". I have given the privileges for "xxxx"@"10.xxx.yy.zz3" but drupal appends localhost instead of IP to user name. I have changed settings.php to mysql server IP. What am I missing?

  • Continue Drupal processing after page send.

    I need to do some additional processing after a Drupal page has been sent. I know I could fire a background shell command, but I need the current Drupal execution context to be maintained. I've spent a lot of time looking, but I can't find any documentation in this regard. This is surprising because it must surely be a common requirement. The only real idea I have is to fire up Drupal (again) via a shell command (exec, etc) and supply it with a pseudo path which would invoke the continued processing. But this seems unnecessarily complex/wasteful. Any pointers greatly appreciated, tks.

  • Backing up data from server to laptop ?

    I need a tool to automatically backup my Drupal installations from my server to my laptop. In other terms, I need to copy 1 folder (all my Drupals are inside this folder) and all databases. So I was wondering if I just need to write a script on my laptop connecting to the server every week copying the folder with all mysql databases informing me by email if the backup has been succesfull do you know if I can find some tutorial for it ? or download such script ? thanks

  • Installer not being updated ( probably because of Windows 7 file cache )

    I'm creating an installer for my Visual FoxPro application using ISTool and Inno Setup. It is ok for me for the first time. But, I updated my code and re-built the EXE file. Then, compiled the installer again. I found that my update was not compiled into the installer and I did not see the update in my running application. I noticed that the EXE file, which was built by VFP, was updated properly. It seems the installation script did not output the updated file. But, when I changed folder names, it did work. I don't want to change folder names whenever I run that installation script. It is not a good idea actually. I think it is because of Windows 7 cache system. Mine is Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1. For example, My previous output file is located at C:\path\to\myinstaller.exe When I compile the installation script, the output file there should be overwritten, but it was not as expected. Although I deleted the file, it did not work. When I changed to output file path as C:\newpath\to\myinstaller.exe, I got the fix, but it is not a solution what I'm looking for. Does anyone how to do that? [Edit] I found that the installed directory was not updated properly. For example, I installed the program to C:\Program files\MyInstalledApp When I run the installer again, that installation directory should be overwritten, but failed. Thus, I got to uninstall the app before I re-install it. Is there any fix for this?

    Hey, I have a CentOS VPS running Apache with a phpBB installation. One specific user has received errors when posting a message or logging in to the forum. The following issue has arisen in parallel to installing nginx, which serves only the static files of my site. Not sure if this is only coincidence. Furthermore, my setup uses redirects (in some cases, double-redirects) to point the user to a different virtual folder. So, the forum is seen to be at /translation/ but the actual files are found in /phpbb/. I'm at a loss as to what may be the underlying issue. My server? The person's ISP? She has tested both at home and at work, with similar issues.   • HTTP cache for my virtual machines

    I have several Linux virtual machines running on my home PC. One of the quirks of Linux is that every time you run a package manager, it wants to "refresh" the configured software repositories - which basically means it wants to download a file from the Internet. If I revert to an earlier snapshot of the VM, then next time I run the package manager it will re-download the exact same data again [since it no longer exists in the VM]. It seems a shame to waste bandwidth endlessly downloading the same data over and over again, so I was wondering if there's some way I can set up some kind of HTTP proxy server that caches downloaded files. I have no idea how you would do such a thing though. In particular, it needs to be set up so that the VMs don't need to "know" that the cache is there; it needs to be transparent. But I don't know how to do that. Any suggestions on what software I'd need to use? It would be nice if I could run it under the Windows host OS, but running a small VM with a Linux guest is also possible...

    I am trying to get mod disk_cache to permantly cache images retrieved from an image server on the webserver using ProxyPass. While the image is being retrieved correctly from the server and is served from the cache on further requests, then I am still having the webserver call the image server and causing the cached header to be updated. Because of load concerns then I need to never call the image server on a specific url again after it has been cached once, or extend the refresh time for as long as possible.     Correct me if I'm wrong, after reading drupal fapi related articles, I got the impression that fapi generates 'id' attributes by itself. It allows developers to assign 'name' attribute only. If that's the case, is there a way I can set desire 'id' value for elements? Because, I want my elements to have meaningful 'id' so that html/jquery code would be easier to read as well as save my time from going through already written jquery code to change those all 'id's that I've used inside.
