  • What is wrong with the JavaScript event handling in this example? (Using click() and hover() jQuery

    - by Bungle
I'm working on a sort of proof-of-concept for a project that approximates Firebug's inspector tool. For more details, please see this related question. Here is the example page. I've only tested it in Firefox: http://troy.onespot.com/static/highlight.html The idea is that, when you're mousing over any element that can contain text, it should "highlight" with a light gray background to indicate the boundaries of that element. When you then click on the element, it should alert() a CSS selector that matches it. This is somewhat working in the example linked above. However, there's one fundamental problem. When mousing over from the top of the page to the bottom, it will pick up the paragraphs, <h1> element, etc. But, it doesn't get the <div>s that encompass those paragraphs. However, for example, if you "sneak up" on the <div> that contains the two paragraphs "The area was settled..." and "Austin was selected..." from the left - tracing down the left edge of the page and entering the <div> just between the two paragraphs (see this screenshot) - then it is picked up. I assume this has something to do with the fact that I haven't attached an event handler to the <body> element (where you're entering the <div> from if you enter from the left), but I have attached handlers to the <p>s (where you're entering from if you come from the top or bottom). There are also other issues with mousing in and out elements - background colors that "stick" and the like - that I think are also related. As indicated in the related question posted above, I suspect there is something about event bubbling that I don't understand that is causing unexpected behavior. Can anyone spot what's wrong with my code? Thanks in advance for any help!

  • JQuery event that triggers after CSS is loaded?

    - by Dave
(I posted this on the jquery forums but it's still awaiting moderation, so I thought I'd try my luck here since stackoverflow is so awesome. If I get an answer I'll post it here.) Maybe someone can help me with this, I have a couple of links on my page (inside a <div id="theme-selector">) which allow you to change the CSS stylesheets: $('#theme-selector a').click(function(){ var path = $(this).attr('href'); $('head link').remove(); $('head').append('<link type="text/css" href="'+path+'" rel="stylesheet" />'); return false; }); Now, after I've changed the style on the page, I want to get the new background color, using the following code (which I put after the $('head').append call): var bgcolor = $('body').css('background-color'); alert(bgcolor); The problem is, I think, that it takes some time for the browser to download the new stylesheet and I sometimes get the old background color in my alert message. Is there some event I can bind that will only alert me after all the stylesheets are loaded on the page? At the moment, all I can think of is using a setTimeout(function(){}, 5000); which isn't great, because what if it takes longer/shorter to load all the CSS on the page. Let me know if I need to clarify anything and I can provide more code. Thanks in advance.

  • WPF trigger on datagrid to hide/show columns according to bindings

    - by Renan
    I have a data grid like this: <DataGrid AutoGenerateColumns="False" CanUserDeleteRows="True" HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Hidden" Margin="10,10,10,10" VerticalScrollBarVisibility="Visible" CanUserAddRows="False" ItemsSource="{Binding ListGestores}" ToolTip="Selecione uma linha e pressione DELETE para remover uma unidade."> <DataGrid.Columns> <DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding TB_UNIDADE.DS_NOME_UNIDADE}" CanUserResize="False" Header="Setor" IsReadOnly="True" x:Name=""/> <DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding TB_UNIDADE.TB_UNIDADE2.DS_NOME_UNIDADE}" CanUserResize="False" Header="Unidade" IsReadOnly="True" x:Name=""/> <DataGridTextColumn Binding="{Binding TB_CONTATOS.DS_NOME}" CanUserResize="False" Header="Gestor" IsReadOnly="True" /> </DataGrid.Columns> </DataGrid> The problem is that i need to verify if the 2 column binding is null, and if it is null, i need to Hide it, and Change the Header of the column 1. I know that i can do that with Triggers, but how exactly??? I started with: <DataGrid.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding TB_UNIDADE.TB_UNIDADE2}" Value="{x:Null}"> <Setter Property="" Value="" /> </DataTrigger> </DataGrid.Triggers> But i don't know what setter or whatever to put ! • WPF combobox loses Aero theme when using a style trigger

    - by Greg R
    I am using style triggers to change combo box to texbox if it's readonly, but for some reason when I apply the style, it cause the combobox theme to change from Aero to Windows Classic (the theme I currently have in use on my PC). Can I avoid this somehow? Here is my code: <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource AllCountries}}" SelectedValue="{Binding OrderInfoVm.BillingCountry}" DisplayMemberPath="Value" SelectedValuePath="Key" IsReadOnly="{Binding ReadOnlyMode}" Style="{StaticResource EditableDropDown}" /> <Style x:Key="EditableDropDown" TargetType="ComboBox"> <Style.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsReadOnly" Value="True"> <Setter Property="SelectedValuePath" Value="Content" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ComboBox"> <TextBox Text="{TemplateBinding SelectedValue, Converter={StaticResource StringCaseConverter}}" BorderThickness="0" Background="Transparent" FontSize="{TemplateBinding FontSize}" HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalAlignment}" FontFamily="{TemplateBinding FontFamily}" Width="{TemplateBinding Width}" TextWrapping="Wrap"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Trigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style>

  • WPF multitrigger referencing 2 other controls

    - by BrettRobi
I have two CheckBoxes and a TextBox. I want to TextBox to have IsEnabled=False if both CheckBoxes have IsChecked=False. Can I do this with a MultiTrigger? I keep getting errors trying to use the Source property. I have it working with MultiDataTriggers as you can see below. But have two questions. 1) Is this my only choice? Can I do it with a MultiTrigger? <TextBox.Style> <Style TargetType="TextBox"> <Style.Triggers> <MultiDataTrigger> <MultiDataTrigger.Conditions> <Condition Binding="{Binding ElementName=uxDmm , Path=IsChecked}" Value="False" /> <Condition Binding="{Binding ElementName=uxGpm , Path=IsChecked}" Value="False" /> </MultiDataTrigger.Conditions> <Setter Property="IsEnabled" Value="False" /> </MultiDataTrigger> </Style.Triggers> </Style> </TextBox.Style> 2) Can I do this outside of the tag? I'm not really sure where Triggers can be applied, most samples do it within Style or DataTemplates, but defining it within a Style is messing up my default look and feel for the TextBox.

  • Live Event: OTN Architect Day: Cloud Computing - Two weeks and counting

    - by Bob Rhubart
In just two weeks architects and others will gather at the Oracle Conference Center in Redwood Shores, CA for the first Oracle Technology Network Architect Day event of 2013. This event focuses on Cloud Computing, and features sessions specifically focused on real-world examples of the implementation of cloud computing. When: Tuesday July 9, 2013              8:30am - 12:30pm Where: Oracle Conference Center              350 Oracle Pkwy              Redwood City, CA 94065 Register now. It's free! Here's the agenda: 8:30am - 9:00am Registration and Continental Breakfast 9:00am - 9:45am Keynote 21st Century IT | Dr. James Baty VP, Global Enterprise Architecture Program, Oracle Imagine a time long, long ago. A time when servers were certified and dedicated to specific applications, when anything posted on an enterprise web site was from restricted, approved channels, and when we tried to limit the growth of 'dirty' data and storage. Today, applications are services running in the muti-tenant hybrid cloud. Companies beg their customers to tweet them, friend them, and publicly rate their products. And constantly analyzing a deluge of Internet, social and sensor data is the key to creating the next super-successful product, or capturing an evil terrorist. The old IT architecture was planned, dedicated, stable, controlled, with separate and well-defined roles. The new architecture is shared, dynamic, continuous, XaaS, DevOps. This keynote session describes the challenges and opportunities that the new business / IT paradigms present to the IT architecture and architects. 9:45am - 10:30am Technical Session Oracle Cloud: A Case Study in Building a Cloud | Anbu Krishnaswami Enterprise Architect, Oracle Building a Cloud can be challenging thanks to the complex requirements unique to Cloud computing and the massive scale typically associated with Cloud. • Modify the Event Log Source name for an SSIS package

    - by Paul Kohler
I have an SQL Server integration Services (SSIS) package using the standard Event Log provider (yes, the event log! I know we can use SQL etc...) The default "Source" of the log events is "SQLISPackage100" but I want it to be something like "AppName" so that the errors are more visible between the different packages when viewing the event log (also for MOM use). Event Type: Error Event Source: SQLISPackage100 Event Category: None ... Description: Package "Foo" failed. I hope the answer is simple, I simply cannot find it, but does anyone know how to change the text of the Event Log Source name to something more meaningful? PK :-)

  • Tree item edit event listener in flex

    - by Biroka
I want to catch itemEditEnd in a tree control, but i'm having a little trouble. I call the item editing a bit different: <mx:Tree id="tree" width="100%" height="100%" itemDoubleClick="treeProjects_itemDoubleClickHandler(event)" doubleClickEnabled="true" editable="true" itemEditBeginning="treeProjects_itemEditBeginingHandler(event)" itemEditEnd="treeProjects_itemEditEndHandler(event)" > but: protected function treeProjects_itemEditBeginingHandler(event:ListEvent):void { event.preventDefault(); } i do this, because I want to edit the field just when clicking rename in the context menu. And when I click rename in the context menu, this is what i'm doing (contextParentItem is the event catched on itemRollOver in the tree) : Tree( contextParentItem.target ).editedItemPosition = { columnIndex: 0, rowIndex: contextParentItem.rowIndex }; Thisway I can't catch the itemEditEnd event, but I want to handle some stuff, like: if the new entered value is an empty string, then I don't want to accept the new value if I hit ESC then, the old value should remain.

  • Trigger the change event of a textbox in jQuery

    - by Danny Chen
I have an asp:TextBox with asp:RegularExpressionValidator to validate if it's a number. Obviously an onchange event will be attached to this textbox while rendering. Also I add a change event at $(document).ready to make some calculation when the value is changed. <asp:TextBox id="myText" runat="server" /> <asp:regularexpressionvalidator id="myRev" ControlToValidate="myText" runat="server">*</asp:regularexpressionvalidator> $(document).ready(function(){ $('[id$=myText]').bind('change',function(){ //do something }).change(); //force the change event at the very beginning }); My function will be executed later than the .net generated js because of the register time. But the .net js throws an error. I traced in the js: function ValidatorOnChange(event) { ... } and found that all of event.fromElement,event.toElement,event.srcElement are null which causes the exception. Did I do something wrong? Any solutions? Thanks.

  • How to decide if a parameter is the click event

    - by sameold
I have a function which can be called by either a click event or directly. When I call it directly, I need pass it a data parameter, so I've defined the function to accept a parameter to account for the direct call with the parameter. function myFunc(param){ } Within the function, I need to differentiate whether the function was called directly or from the click event, so what I thought I could simply check if param is set. If it's set, then the function is called directly. If it's not set, then it's called from the click event. The problem is that a click event by default passes an event object. So even when the function is called by the click event, param won't be null. So is there a way to check whether the param passed is the click event?

  • jquery "this" binding issue on event handler

    - by clyfe
    In jquery an event hadler's binding is the event generating DOM element (this points to the dom element). In prototype to change the binding of an event handler one can use the bindAsEventListener function; How can I access both the instance and the DOM element from a event handler? Similar to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/117361/how-can-i-bind-an-event-handler-to-an-instance-in-jquery function Car(){ this.km = 0; $("#sprint").click(this.drive); //setup event handler } // event handler // in it I need to access both the clicked element // and the binding object (instance of car) Car.prototype.drive = function(){ this.km += 10; // i'd like to access the binding (but jq changes it) this.css({ left: this.km }); // also the element // NOTE that is inside this function I want to access them not elsewhere } var car = new Car();

  • Non-Dom Element Event Binding with jQuery

Yesterday I had a short discussion with Dave Reed on Twitter regarding setting up fake events on objects that are hookable. jQuery makes it real easy to bind events on DOM elements and with a little bit of extra work (that I didnt know about) you can also set up binding to non-DOM element event bindings. Assume for a second that you have a simple JavaScript object like this: var item = { sku: "wwhelp" , foo: function() { alert('orginal foo function'); } }; and...Did you know that DotNetSlackers also publishes .net articles written by top known .net Authors? • Get the onended event for an AudioBuffer in HTML5/Chrome

So I am playing audio file in Chrome and I want to detect when playing has ended so I can delete references to it. Here is my code var source = context.createBufferSource(); source.buffer = sound.buffer; source.loop = sound.loop; source.onended = function() { delete playingSounds[soundName]; } source.connect(mainNode); source.start(0, sound.start, sound.length); however, the event handler doesn't fire. Is this not yet supported as described by the W3 specification? Or am I doing something wrong?

  • Creating a level editor event system

    - by Vaughan Hilts
I'm designing a level editor for game, and I'm trying to create sort of an 'event' system so I can chain together things. If anyone has used RPG Maker, I'm trying to do similar to their system. Right now, I have an 'EventTemplate' class and a bunch of sub-classed 'EventNodes' which basically just contain properties of their data. Orginally, the IAction and IExecute interface performed logic but it was moved into a DLL to share between the two projects. Question: How can I abstract logic from data in this case? Is my model wrong? Isn't cast typing expensive to parse these actions all the time? Should I write a 'Processor' class to execute these all? But then these actions that can do all sorts of things need to interact with all sorts of sub-systems.

  • Using Mock for event listeners in unit-testing

    - by phtrivier
I keep getting to test this kind of code (language irrelevant) : public class Foo() { public Foo(Dependency1 dep1) { this.dep1 = dep1; } public void setUpListeners() { this.dep1.addSomeEventListener(.... some listener code ...); } } Typically, you want to test what when the dependency fires the event, the class under tests reacts appropriately (in some situation, the only purpose of such classes is to wire lots of other components, that can be independently tested. So far, to test this, I always end up doing something like : creating a 'stub' that implements both a addXXXXListener, that simply stores the callback, and a fireXXXX, that simply calls any registered listener. This is a bit tedious since you have to create the mock with the right interface, but that can do use an introspective framework that can 'spy' on a method, and inject the real dependency in tests Is there a cleaner way to do this kind of things ?
