• Why my VPN doesn't work anymore?

  I have openvpn server running on debian lenny. There is only one client - and it is running Windows 7 64-bit. This has worked for few months without any problems. And now, let's say for the last 7 days, it doesn't work at all. I connect successfully from client to the server, but I can't access anything through VPN. I have set it up so that all internet traffic is routed through VPN, and now when I connect with the client, the client can't do anything on the net (open any webpage, ping google, anything ...). Can you help me to figure out what's wrong ? I don't know where to start. I've also tried to connect to another openvpn server (I've installed and configured openvpn on another server, and when I try to connect to it result is the same). So I think there's something wrong with client ... • Apache apachectl/httpd hangs

  I need some help guys. I've just modified the Folder Redirection Policy on my server at work so the hiarcy resembles windows 7's user folder structure rather than XP. I did this to the book so I know its right. However, I'm still seeing that all the user accounts are still layed out as XP compatible folder hiracys. Is there somthing I need to do to update these accounts with the new policy?

• Debian + ProFTPD + LDAP Incorrect Password Issue

  I have the LDAP configuration configured for ProFTPD and I have modified the modules.conf file to include the LDAP module. However, every time I login with FileZilla I get 530 Login Incorrect. It does this for all users except those whose passwords are defined locally as well as in LDAP. The exact same setup works fine on my CentOS server and I've already tried re-installing it after purging the configuration files.

It's running a redirect script that does some text search/replace on html pages, and then saves them to a location on the same machine on the nginx path - then issues the redirect to that URL (it's an art project :D). • Squid appears to be running storeurl_rewrite_program, but not using the result.

  I've built a storeurl_rewrite_program (which strips some changing query-strings), and verified from logging in the script that it is being run and generating the desired modified url. However, access.log continues to show TCP_MISS and store.log has SWAPOUT with the unmodified url. Why would Squid run the rewriter and then throw away the result?

For example the qwerty keyboard is widespread although the Dvorak keyboard might be a better choice. I guess this is something to do with the teletypes that were used as early computer keyboards, which had originally been modified from typewriters.

  I am planning to use NFS to serve out many small files. They will be read very often so client side caching is crucial. Does NFS handle this? Is there a way to increase the client side caching in some way? ...or should I look at another solution? Syncing using rsync or unison periodically is not an option since the files are modified on the client side from time to time.

  I use a custom logon shell on a machine (windows 7) for security reasons - which works fine by altering HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\shell. However, I also want that the administrator will still be able to manage the machine, so I modified the user specific key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\shell back to explorer.exe - but when I log on I get a single windows explorer window, and not the full desktop. does any one know how to configure the normal desktop shell only to a specific user?

But any subsequent changes to the file will not show up until i change the case of the file i'm asking for. Checking the IIS logs all indicate that the (internet) requests are all coming the correct client on the internet (i.e. not from some intermediate proxy). Since the file doesn't exist on the hard drive anymore, i conclude that there is a proxy. The requests serviced from this proxy are not logged in the IIS logs. The requests for new files are logged, and from the client IP, not a proxy IP. The proxy is case sensitivie. This does not sound like something Microsoft, or IIS, would do: - a transparent proxy - case-sensitivie - unlogged - surviving restarts of IIS - surviving in a cache for hours i can't believe that our customer's IIS is doing these things. i'm assuming there is some other transparent proxy in front of IIS. Or, does IIS have a transparent, unlogged, case-sensitive, memory based, proxy, that caches content for at least 7 hours? (Come Monday morning, IIS is serving the correct file, unlogged).

• ubuntu gnome short cut keys

  Hi, I have done something quite silly and not sure how to fix it. I modified some of the gnome keyboard short cuts and was trying to disable the "Run Application" command. In the process I assigned it to the delete key and every time I hit delete the "Run Application" window comes up. It would not normally be a problem but the "Keyboard Shortcuts" no long has the short cut in the window so I can't disable it. Any help advice would be appreciated. Cheers Ben

  Hello, Just upgraded an old box to Ubuntu to 10.04.2 LTS. Apache will not display images to a browser that are over about 2K. Small images seem to display fine. Static HTML and PHP continues to works fine as well. This looks ok to me! I have tried firefox and chrome, both display small images fine but when a large image is requested the browser prompts to download the file. When the image file is saved to the local computer it is corrupt, it also takes a long time to save which makes me think the browser cannot see the content-length header sent from apache. Any ideas? It's driving me nuts. There is nothing in apache error logs, and permissions are fine (because the image data is there, it's just somewhat corrupt). I've tried the following : Create a custom list, add a field named "TestField" Create a personal view named "TestView", filter : Show when column "TestField" is equal to "" (leave the box empty) Create an alert, immediate email when items appearing in "TestView" are modified Create an item with both fields filled Create an item with only title filled Now you should receive two alert emails, but in the view "TestView" there is only one item. Is it a bug ?

  I have installed Thesis theme. The default permalink structure is BLOGURL/%postid%/ When I change it to BLOGURL/%postname%/, I can't access the pages. I have modified .htaccess file and the "nav_bar function" as well. Can somebody help me out? I can't figure out the redirection error.

• Can't connect to EC2 instance in VPC (Amazon AWS)

  I've taken the following steps: Created a VPC (with a single public subnet) Added an EC2 instance to the VPC Allocated an elastic IP Associated the elastic IP with the instance Created a security group and assigned it to the instance Modified the security rules to allow inbound ICMP echo and TCP on port 22 I've done all this and I still can't ping or ssh into the instance. If I follow the same steps minus the VPC bits I am able to set this up without issue. What step am I missing?

• Lost Powerpoint document somewhere between Explorer and C drive

  Opened (and not saving) a Powerpoint presentation attached to an online email message. Modified the document and clicked on the Save (not Save As) and now the presentation is nowhere to be found. How do I find this document? I have run a serious search on the C drive to no avail. It's not even in the Temporary Internet Files. • Decrypting EFS w/o altering timestamp - possible?

  Hi, I'd like to decrypt some EFS-encrypted files, but I do not know how to do that without altering the timestamp. When encrypting/decrypting files, the modified-time is set to the current time. I'd like to preserve the original timestamp, as the files have not really changed. Is this possible? Solutions i dont think work copy to/from FAT (timestamp resolution differs) copy to from Samba share (same) programmatically copy original timestamp and reapply after decryption (possible, but need to handle decryption time which may vary)
