  • Use a "x-dom-event-stream" stream in javascript ?

    - by rnaud
Hello, HTML5 draft contains an API called EventSource to stream data (notifications) trough javascript using only one server call. Looking it up, I found an exemple on Opera Labs of the javascript part : document.getElementsByTagName("event-source")[0] .addEventListener("server-time", eventHandler, false); function eventHandler(event) { // Alert time sent by the server alert(event.data); } and the server side part : <?php header("Content-Type: application/x-dom-event-stream"); while(true) { echo "Event: server-time\n"; $time = time(); echo "data: $time\n"; echo "\n"; flush(); sleep(3); } ?> But as of today, it seems only Opera has implemented the API, neither Chrome nor Safari have a working version (Am I wrong here ?) So my question is, is there any other way in javascript, maybe more complex, to use this one stream to get data ?

  • Best practices retrieving XML/stream from HTTP in Android

    - by Jeffrey
Hello everyone, what are the best practices parsing XML from an HTTP resource in Android? I've been using HttpURLConnection to retrieve an InputStream, wrapping it with a BufferedInputStream, and then using SAX to parse the buffered stream. For the most part it works, though I do receive error reports of SocketTimeoutException: The operation timed out or general parsing error. I believe it's due to the InputStream. Would using HttpClient instead of HttpURLConnection help? If yes, why? Should the stream be output to a file, having the file parsed instead of the stream? Any input or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

  • Writing asynchronously on a stream in cocoa

    - by Richard Ibarra
Hi folks I have been trying to find any way for writing asynchronously on a stream in Cocoa. I have a set of events in my applications which will try to send data through the socket but i can't be blocked during this transmission due to design terms. I have tried setting a delegate on the output stream and check the event NSStreamEventHasSpaceAvailable but I don't know how this can be combined with the events that put data into the stream. Is there anyway for doing that? I thought using NSThread but I guess there is a better option. Cheers

  • WPF: Convert memory stream to BitmapImage?

    - by David Veeneman
I have an image that was originally a PNG that I have converted to a byte[] and saved in a database. Originally, I simply read the PNG into a memory stream and converted the stream into a byte[]. Now I want to read the byte[] back and convert it to a BitmapImage, so that I can bind a WPF Image control to it. I am seeing a lot of contradictory and confusing code online to accomplish the task of converting a byte[] to a BitmapImage. I am not sure whether I need to add any code due to the fact that the image was originally a PNG. Can anyone provide the code to convert the stream to a BitmapImage? Thanks for your help.

    - by I Like PHP

  • Tablesorter - filter inside input fields and values

    - by Zeracoke
    I have a small quest to accomplish, and I reached a point when nothing works... So the problem is. I have a paged table with a lot of input fields inside the rows with values, and I would like to search inside these values. Let me Show this, I hope that somebody will got the idea what I should do... <script type="text/javascript"> // add parser through the tablesorter addParser method $.tablesorter.addParser({ id: 'inputs', is: function(s) { return false; }, format: function(s, table, cell, cellIndex) { var $c = $(cell); // return 1 for true, 2 for false, so true sorts before false if (!$c.hasClass('updateInput')) { $c .addClass('updateInput') .bind('keyup', function() { $(table).trigger('updateCell', [cell, false]); // false to prevent resort }); } return $c.find('input').val(); }, type: 'text' }); $(function() { $('table').tablesorter({ widgets: ['zebra', 'stickyHeaders', 'resizable', 'filter'], widgetOptions: { stickyHeaders : '', // number or jquery selector targeting the position:fixed element stickyHeaders_offset : 110, // added to table ID, if it exists stickyHeaders_cloneId : '-sticky', // trigger "resize" event on headers stickyHeaders_addResizeEvent : true, // if false and a caption exist, it won't be included in the sticky header stickyHeaders_includeCaption : true, // The zIndex of the stickyHeaders, allows the user to adjust this to their needs stickyHeaders_zIndex : 2, // jQuery selector or object to attach sticky header to stickyHeaders_attachTo : null, // scroll table top into view after filtering stickyHeaders_filteredToTop: true, resizable: true, filter_onlyAvail : 'filter-onlyAvail', filter_childRows : true, filter_startsWith : true, filter_useParsedData : true, filter_defaultAttrib : 'data-value' }, headers: { 1: {sorter: 'inputs', width: '50px'}, 2: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 3: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 4: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 5: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 6: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 7: {sorter: 'inputs', width: '100px'}, 8: {sorter: 'inputs', width: '140px'}, 9: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 10: {sorter: 'inputs'}, 11: {sorter: 'inputs'}, } }); $('table').tablesorterPager({container: $(".pager"), positionFixed: false, size: 50, pageDisplay : $(".pagedisplay"), pageSize : $(".pagesize"), }); $("#table1").tablesorter(options); /* make second table scroll within its wrapper */ options.widgetOptions.stickyHeaders_attachTo = '.wrapper'; // or $('.wrapper') $("#table2").tablesorter(options); }); </script> The structure of the tables: <tr class="odd" style="display: table-row;"> <form action="/self.php" method="POST"> </form><input type="hidden" name="f" value="data"> <td><input type="hidden" name="mod_id" value="741">741</td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="text" name="name" value="Test User Name"></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="text" name="address" value="2548451 Random address"></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="email" name="email" value=""></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="text" name="entitlement" value="none"></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="text" name="card_number" value="6846416548644352"></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="checkbox" name="verify" value="1" checked=""></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="checkbox" name="card_sended" value="1" checked=""></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="text" name="create_date" value="2014-02-12 21:09:16"></td> <td class="updateInput"><a href="self.php?f=data&amp;del=741">X</a></td> <td class="updateInput"><input type="submit" value="SAVE"></td><td class="updateInput"></td></tr> So the thing is I don't know how to configure the filter to search these values... I already added some options, but none of them are working... Any help would be great!

  • Continuously reading from a stream in C#?

    - by Damien Wildfire
I have a Stream object that occasionally gets some data on it, but at unpredictable intervals. Messages that appear on the Stream are well-defined and declare the size of their payload in advance (the size is a 16-bit integer contained in the first two bytes of each message). I'd like to have a StreamWatcher class which detects when the Stream has some data on it. Once it does, I'd like an event to be raised so that a subscribed StreamProcessor instance can process the new message. Can this be done with C# events without using Threads directly? It seems like it should be straightforward, but I can't get quite get my head around the right way to design this.

  • Possible to set two values for two different nodes from user input in XForms?

    - by iHeartGreek
    Hi! I would like to set two values for two different nodes from user input in XForms. I am curious about how this is done, if at all possible. For example, if I have the following data model: <xf:instance id="criteria_data" xmlns=""> <criteria> <set> <root></root> <criterion></criterion> </set> </criteria> </xf:instance> <xf:instance id="choices" xmlns=""> <choices> <root label="The Choices">/AAA</root> <choice label="BBB">/@BBB</choice> </choices> </xf:instance> <xf:instance id="choices" xmlns=""> <choices> <root>/AAA</root> <choice label="BBB">/@BBB</choice> <choice label="CCC">/@CCC</choice> <choices> </xf:instance> <xf:bind id="data_criterion" nodeset="instance('criteria_data')/criteria/set/criterion"/> <xf:bind id="data_root" nodeset="instance('criteria_data')/criteria/set/root"/> <xf:bind id="choices_root" nodeset="instance('choices')/root"/> <xf:bind id="choices" nodeset="instance('choices')/choice"/> and my ui code looks like: <xf:select bind="data_criterion" appearance="full"> <xf:label>Your choices:</xf:label> <xf:itemset bind="choices"> <xf:label ref="@label"></xf:label> <xf:value ref="."></xf:value> </xf:itemset> </xf:select> But I essentially want it to be like this (though this is invalid and does not produce any xml at all): <xf:select appearance="full"> <xf:label>Your choices:</xf:label> <xf:itemset bind="choices"> <xf:label ref="@label"></xf:label> <xf:value bind="data_criterion" ref="."></xf:value> <xf:value bind="data_root" ref="instance('choices')/root"></xf:value> </xf:itemset> </xf:select> The XML output I want to achieve (if user checks "BBB"): <criteria> <set> <root>/AAA</root> <criterion>/@BBB</criterion> </set> </criteria> How can I achieve setting these two nodes for the one checkbox seletion? Hope that all made sense... Thanks! :)

  • What makes games responsive to user input?

    - by zaftcoAgeiha
Many games have been praised for its responsive gameplay, where each user action input correspond to a quick and precise character movement (eg: super meat boy, shank...) What makes those games responsive? and what prevents other games from achieving the same? How much of it is due to the game framework used to queue mouse/keyboard events and render/update the game and how much is attributed to better coding?

  • QValidator for hex input

    - by Evan Teran
I have a Qt widget which should only accept a hex string as input. It is very simple to restrict the input characters to [0-9A-Fa-f], but I would like to have it display with a delimiter between "bytes" so for example if the delimiter is a space, and the user types 0011223344 I would like the line edit to display 00 11 22 33 44 Now if the user presses the backspace key 3 times, then I want it to display 00 11 22 3. I almost have what i want, so far there is only one subtle bug involving using the delete key to remove a delimiter. Does anyone have a better way to implement this validator? Here's my code so far: class HexStringValidator : public QValidator { public: HexStringValidator(QObject * parent) : QValidator(parent) {} public: virtual void fixup(QString &input) const { QString temp; int index = 0; // every 2 digits insert a space if they didn't explicitly type one Q_FOREACH(QChar ch, input) { if(std::isxdigit(ch.toAscii())) { if(index != 0 && (index & 1) == 0) { temp += ' '; } temp += ch.toUpper(); ++index; } } input = temp; } virtual State validate(QString &input, int &pos) const { if(!input.isEmpty()) { // TODO: can we detect if the char which was JUST deleted // (if any was deleted) was a space? and special case this? // as to not have the bug in this case? const int char_pos = pos - input.left(pos).count(' '); int chars = 0; fixup(input); pos = 0; while(chars != char_pos) { if(input[pos] != ' ') { ++chars; } ++pos; } // favor the right side of a space if(input[pos] == ' ') { ++pos; } } return QValidator::Acceptable; } }; For now this code is functional enough, but I'd love to have it work 100% as expected. Obviously the ideal would be the just separate the display of the hex string from the actual characters stored in the QLineEdit's internal buffer but I have no idea where to start with that and I imagine is a non-trivial undertaking. In essence, I would like to have a Validator which conforms to this regex: "[0-9A-Fa-f]( [0-9A-Fa-f])*" but I don't want the user to ever have to type a space as delimiter. Likewise, when editing what they types, the spaces should be managed implicitly.

  • jQuery Table - Reference User Input Row Names and Values

    - by Vic
I have several tables which are generated by another application, which I have no control over. I am totally new to jQuery and ajax, and have only a limited knowledge of jsp. Two sample rows are: <table class="sicknessForm"> <tr id="row_0" class="datarow"> <td id="col_2"><input name="row_0-col_2" class="tabcell" value="Injuries"></td> <td id="col_4"><input name="row_0-col_4" class="tabcell" value="01"></td> <td id="col_5"><input name="row_0-col_5" class="tabcell" value="2"></td> <td id="col_6"><input name="row_0-col_6" class="tabcell" value="5"></td> </tr> <tr id="row_1" class="datarow"> <td id="col_2"><input name="row_1-col_2" class="tabcell" value="Absences"></td> <td id="col_4"><input name="row_1-col_4" class="tabcell" value="100"></td> <td id="col_5"><input name="row_1-col_5" class="tabcell" value="102"></td> <td id="col_6"><input name="row_1-col_6" class="tabcell" value="105"></td> </tr> </table> There are more rows and columns in the actual tables. What I need to do is to pass the ordered row information to the database, e.g.: Injuries, 1, 2, 5 .... Absences 100, 102, 105... I can retrieve the values for each input using: $('#SicknessForm .userInput').each(function() { alert($(this).val()); }); 1) How can I loop through each row, get the value from the first column (Injuries) and place the data into an array to send to the server? 2) How do I reference the first row of each column to disable user input on it? $(:HowDoIReferenceThis).attr('disabled', ''); 3) I need to validate that each cell is numeric, other than the first column. Any pointers on this (otherwise I can check it in my servlet), especially on how to loop through all valid input cells (everything except 'Injuries','Abences', ... cells). Many Thanks! Vic

  • Input boxes with transparent background are not clickable in IE8

    - by Viliam
I have an absolutely positioned input box in a form. The input box has transparent background: .form-page input[type="text"] { border: none; background-color: transparent; /* Other stuff: font-weight, font-size */ } Surprisingly, I cannot select this input box by clicking on it in IE8. It works perfectly in Firefox however. The same happens for background: none. When I change the background color: background-color: red; It works fine, so this is issue associated with transparent background. Setting a border makes the input box selectable by clicking on its border only. Is there a workaround to have clickable input box with transparent background working in IE8? Update: Example. Uncomment background-color and the inputbox is selectable. You can also click on the select box, and focus the input box by pressing Shift+Tab. <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html><head></head><body> <style type="text/css"> input[type="text"] { border: none; background: transparent; /*background-color: blue;*/ } #elem528 { position:absolute; left:155px; top:164px; width:60px; height:20px; } #elem529 { position:absolute; left:218px; top:164px; width:40px; height:20px; } </style> <img src="xxx.png" alt="" width="1000" height="1000"> <input id="elem528" maxlength="7" type="text"> <select id="elem529"></select> </body></html>

  • Backtick (Grave accent) button sticking

    - by Scott Lemmon
I have Ubuntu 12.04 running in a Virtual Box virtual machine, on my Windows 7 32bit system. It has been working great, except that the backtick/tilde button sticks(not physically). When I hit the backtick button it keeps repeating until another input button is pressed. So if I press the spacebar while the backtick is repeating, it stops, but if I press the shift while it is repeating, the backtick turns into a tilde, and the tilde keeps repeating until I release the shift key (at which point it's a backtick again and keeps repeating). This sticking behavior only happens with the backtick key, and only in my Ubuntu virtualization, never in windows. I've tried both my laptop's keyboard and an external USB keyboard and the problem happens on both. Both keyboards I've tried are Japanese 106/109 key layout, but I'm using them with a English(US) 101 profile. When I refer to the backtick key above, I mean where it is on the US layout. If I use the Japanese profile, the key in that location (the US backtick location) still sticks, but its no longer mapped as the backtick key. Any thoughts as to what might be causing this and possible solutions? I've searched a lot, but have not found any help so far. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • How do I identify mouse clicks versus mouse down in games?

    - by Tristan
What is the most common way of handling mouse clicks in games? Given that all you have in way of detecting input from the mouse is whether a button is up or down. I currently just rely on the mouse down being a click, but this simple approach limits me greatly in what I want to achieve. For example I have some code that should only be run once on a mouse click, but using mouse down as a mouse click can cause the code to run more then once depending on how long the button is held down for. So I need to do it on a click! But what is the best way to handle a click? Is a click when the mouse goes from mouse up to down or from down to up or is it a click if the button was down for less then x frames/milliseconds and then if so, is it considered mouse down and a click if its down for x frames/milliseconds or a click then mouse down? I can see that each of the approaches can have their uses but which is the most common in games? And maybe i'll ask more specifically which is the most common in RTS games?
