  • jQuery trigger custom event synchronously?

    - by Miguel Angelo
    I am using the jQuery trigger method to call an event... but it behaves inconsistently. Sometimes it call the event, sometimes it does not. <a href="#" onclick=" $(this).trigger('custom-event'); window.location.href = 'url'; return false; ">text</a> The custom-event has lots of listeners added to it. It is as if the trigger method is not synchronous, allowing the window.location.href be changed before executing the events. And when window.location.href is changed a navigation occurs, interrupting everything. How can I trigger events synchronously? Using jQuery 1.8.1. Thanks! EDIT I have found that the event, when called has a stack trace like this: jQuery.fx.tick (jquery-1.8.1.js:9021) tick (jquery-1.8.1.js:8499) jQuery.Callbacks.self.fireWith (jquery-1.8.1.js:1082) jQuery.Callbacks.fire (jquery-1.8.1.js:974) jQuery.speed.opt.complete (jquery-1.8.1.js:8991) $.customEvent (myfile.js:28) This proves that jQuery trigger method is asynchronous. Oohhh my... =\

  • Silverlight 3 Binding to the Current Item in a Collection

    - by rasx
    The Binding syntax, {Binding /}, works in WPF but does not work at all in Silverlight 3: <ContentControl Content="{Binding MyCollection}"> <ContentControl.ContentTemplate> <DataTemplate> <ContentControl Content="{Binding /}" /> </DataTemplate> </ContentControl.ContentTemplate> </ContentControl> What's the way to approach this in Silverlight?

  • What does binding mean exactly?

    - by Lily
    I always see people mention that "Python binding" and "C Sharp binding" etc. when I am actually using their C++ libraries. What does binding mean? If the library is written in C, and does Python binding means that they use SWIG kind of tool to mock a Python interface? Newbie in this field, and any suggestion will be welcomed.

  • ASP.NET MVC Binding - Duplicated Messages

    - by Rodrigo Gama
    I'm using ASP.NET MVC Binding Framework. Let's say I have a class Item, that has a mandatory field Id. I am binding a List, and do not want one error message for each element in this list. If more then one error happen when binding the Id field, I want only one message to be added to ModelState and shown to the user. In one sentence: Is there a way to avoid duplicated messages using ASP.NET MVC Binding Framework?

  • SelectedItem in ListView binding

  • Problem with room/screen/menu controller in python game: old rooms are not removed from memory

    - by Jordan Magnuson
    I'm literally banging my head against a wall here (as in, yes, physically, at my current location, I am damaging my cranium). Basically, I've got a Python/Pygame game with some typical game "rooms", or "screens." EG title screen, high scores screen, and the actual game room. Something bad is happening when I switch between rooms: the old room (and its various items) are not removed from memory, or from my event listener. Not only that, but every time I go back to a certain room, my number of event listeners increases, as well as the RAM being consumed! (So if I go back and forth between the title screen and the "game room", for instance, the number of event listeners and the memory usage just keep going up and up. The main issue is that all the event listeners start to add up and really drain the CPU. I'm new to Python, and don't know if I'm doing something obviously wrong here, or what. I will love you so much if you can help me with this! Below is the relevant source code. Complete source code at http://www.necessarygames.com/my_games/betraveled/betraveled_src0328.zip MAIN.PY class RoomController(object): """Controls which room is currently active (eg Title Screen)""" def __init__(self, screen, ev_manager): self.room = None self.screen = screen self.ev_manager = ev_manager self.ev_manager.register_listener(self) self.room = self.set_room(config.room) def set_room(self, room_const): #Unregister old room from ev_manager if self.room: self.room.ev_manager.unregister_listener(self.room) self.room = None #Set new room based on const if room_const == config.TITLE_SCREEN: return rooms.TitleScreen(self.screen, self.ev_manager) elif room_const == config.GAME_MODE_ROOM: return rooms.GameModeRoom(self.screen, self.ev_manager) elif room_const == config.GAME_ROOM: return rooms.GameRoom(self.screen, self.ev_manager) elif room_const == config.HIGH_SCORES_ROOM: return rooms.HighScoresRoom(self.screen, self.ev_manager) def notify(self, event): if isinstance(event, ChangeRoomRequest): if event.game_mode: config.game_mode = event.game_mode self.room = self.set_room(event.new_room) #Run game def main(): pygame.init() screen = pygame.display.set_mode(config.screen_size) ev_manager = EventManager() spinner = CPUSpinnerController(ev_manager) room_controller = RoomController(screen, ev_manager) pygame_event_controller = PyGameEventController(ev_manager) spinner.run() EVENT_MANAGER.PY class EventManager: #This object is responsible for coordinating most communication #between the Model, View, and Controller. def __init__(self): from weakref import WeakKeyDictionary self.last_listeners = {} self.listeners = WeakKeyDictionary() self.eventQueue= [] self.gui_app = None #---------------------------------------------------------------------- def register_listener(self, listener): self.listeners[listener] = 1 #---------------------------------------------------------------------- def unregister_listener(self, listener): if listener in self.listeners: del self.listeners[listener] #---------------------------------------------------------------------- def clear(self): del self.listeners[:] #---------------------------------------------------------------------- def post(self, event): # if isinstance(event, MouseButtonLeftEvent): # debug(event.name) #NOTE: copying the list like this before iterating over it, EVERY tick, is highly inefficient, #but currently has to be done because of how new listeners are added to the queue while it is running #(eg when popping cards from a deck). • jQuery validation: how to customize trigger and response

    - by user302307
    I am new with jQuery. I have a servlet based application which render an HTML form. This form is submitted via a function and the submit button IS NOT submit button in HTML. It's a regular button that calls a javascript function to do the submission. When running the submission function, the servlet also run a function called doCheck() which is in javascript. This doCheck() function can be defined per page basis. if doCheck returns false, then the servlet will stop the submission; else it will submit the form. I want to use jQuery validation to fit the servlet application. Is there a way to customize jQuery validation to be triggered manually (ie. only when doCheck() is executed) but at the same time provides continuous check on the UI (ie. if one type invalid number in date field, it will gives the appropriate msg when onblur event happen)? Is there a way to make jQuery validation return true or false? Thank you.

  • alternative to JQuery form.submit() to do ajax post

    - by BluntTool
    Hello, I have a mvc2 application with a view like this <% using (Ajax.BeginForm("UserApprove", new { id = Model.id }, new AjaxOptions() { UpdateTargetId = "statusLights", OnSuccess = "HideButtons" }, new { id = "UserApprove" })) {%> <input type="button" value="Approve" onclick="$('#dialogApprove').dialog('open')" /> <div id="dialogApprove" title="Confirm"> <p> Are you sure you want to approve this request? </p> </div> <% } %> FYI, the controller returns a partial view back. I used to not have the jquery dialog and just simple a <input type="Submit" value="Approve" /> that used to work fine I added the jquery dialog and I have something like this to initialize the dialog. $("#dialogApprove").dialog({ autoOpen: false, draggable: true, resizable: false, buttons: { "Cancel": function() { $(this).dialog("close") }, "Approve": function() { $("#UserApprove").submit(); $(this).dialog("close"); } } }); The $("#UserApprove").submit(); does not seem to be doing an ajax post. It comes back with just the text from the partial view returned in a new page. I dont want to use the jquery form plugin which has .ajaxSubmit(). Is there any other way to force an ajax post from the jquery dialog "approve" button?

  • Finding usage of jQuery UI in a big ugly codebase

    - by Daniel Magliola
    I've recently inherited the maintenance of a big, ugly codebase for a production website. Poke your eyes out ugly. And though it's big, it's mostly PHP code, it doesn't have much JS, besides a few "ajaxy" things in the UI. Our main current problem is that the site is just too heavy. Homepage weighs in at 1.6 Mb currently, so I'm trying to clean some stuff out. One of the main wasters is that every single page includes the jQuery UI library, but I don't think it's used at all. It's definitely not being used in the homepage and in most pages, so I want to only include the where necessary. I'm not really experienced with jQuery, i'm more of a Prototype guy, so I'm wondering. Is there anything I could search for that'd let me know where jQuery UI is being used? What i'm looking for is "common strings", component names, etc For example, if this was scriptaculous, i'd look for things like "Draggable", "Effect", etc. Any suggestions for jQuery UI? (Of course, if you can think of a more robust way of removing the tag from pages that don't use it without breaking everything, I'd love to hear about it) Thanks!! Daniel

  • Jquery UI modal dialogs

    - by Anonymous user
    Hi All. I have a problem with Jquery UI modal dialogs. I have modal dialog (dialogA), which can create another modal dialog (dialogB). After the second creation and closure of the dialogB the overlay of dialogA disappear. Here is my code: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head><link type="text/css" rel="Stylesheet" href="ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.custom.css" /> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-1.4.2.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jquery-ui-1.8.custom.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> function createDialog(dialogId) { $('#' + dialogId).dialog({ autoOpen: true, modal: true, buttons: { 'close': function() { $(this).dialog('close'); }, 'create': function() { var newDialogId = dialogId + '1'; $('body').append('<div id="' + newDialogId + '">' + newDialogId + '</div>'); createDialog(newDialogId); } }, close: function() { $(this).dialog('destroy'); $(this).remove(); } }); } $(document).ready(function() { $('#button1').click(function() { var dialogId = 'dialog'; $('body').append('<div id="' + dialogId + '">' + dialogId + '</div>'); createDialog(dialogId); }); }); </script> </head> <body> <button id="button1">Create dialog</button> </body> </html> Thanks

  • jQuery multiple themes on one page

    - by lloydphillips
    This is driving me NUTS! I've followed the post here which just doesn't seem to be working: http://www.filamentgroup.com/lab/using_multiple_jquery_ui_themes_on_a_single_page/ I have a base theme, for examples sake it's the Smoothness theme from the jQuery UI gallery. Then I have a 'red' theme which basically colours the buttons red. Here is the theme I created. So I go to download my theme. Choose Advanced settings, set the scope to 'red' and my theme folder name to 'red' and download. First of all I'm not entirely 100% sure which folder I'm to copy over to my project is it the 'development-bundle\themes' folder (which contains my red folder) or the '\css\red' folder? I've tried both. The post above seems to suggest if I copy my themes folder and link to my theme in the css it'll work when I add a class of 'red' to a wrapper div or element. So I've linked the themes like so in my file: <link type="text/css" href="themes/base/jquery.ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> <link type="text/css" href="themes/red/jquery.ui.all.css" rel="stylesheet" /> The base theme loads and works all honkey doorey but the red theme doesn't. I've got a button styled like so: <input type="submit" id="btn" value="A submit button" class="red" /> I've also tried: <div class="red"> <input type="submit" id="btn" value="A submit button" /> </div> Neither work. When I remove the 'themes/base/jquery.ui.all.css' css file link the button's aren't styled at all. Crazy! I'm pulling my hair out. Where am I going wrong? Surely they should just make it easy enough to download JUST the theme folder and reference the ui.all file.

  • Unable to run jQuery Masonry in a Sencha Touch 2 app

    - by torr
    In my ST2 app I have on index.html <script id="jquery" type="text/javascript" src="resources/js/jquery-1.8.2.js"></script> <script id="masonry" type="text/javascript" src="resources/js/masonry-2.1.5.js"></script> as well as <script> $(document).ready(function(){ var $container = $('.x-list-container'); $container.imagesLoaded(function(){ $container.masonry({ itemSelector: '.x-list-item', }); }); }); </script> My front page on the app is a list so it wraps elements as such <div class="x-list-container"> <div class="x-list-item"></div> // 'x-list-item' is the block I want to float <div class="x-list-item"></div> ... </div> However once everything is loaded and I inspect .x-list-item there is no style positioning the div. I am experience with Masonry on regular web app but can;t make it work here. It's like Masonry isn't running at all. It is being loaded (checked on the network tab) and jQuery is being loaded (on network tab and tested using if (jQuery) {alert('hey there');. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? }

  • WPF - Binding a variable in an already bound ListBox?

    - by Corey Ogburn
    I really don't know how to title this question, but I need some help with binding to a ListBox. I have an object, that contains (among other information) 2 properties that need to be bound in one ListBox. One of these is an ObservableCollection of objects, called Layers, and the other property holds an enum value of either Point, Line or Polygon, called SpatialType. These are to act as a legend to a map application. I have bound Layers to a ListBox, no problem, but inside the ListBox.ItemTemplate, I need to bind the single variable SpatialType to every Item in the ListBox. The problem I'm running into is that when I try to bind while inside the ListBox, the only variables I have access to are the properties of each Layer and I can't access any properties of the original bound class that holds the Layers (and the needed SpatialType property). What can I do to get that piece of information bound inside the ItemTemplate without messing up a good MVVM architecture?

  • jquery-ui autocomplete with ASP MVC suggestions not displaying

    - by adamnickerson
    I have been trying to get a simple example of the jquery-ui autocomplete to work. I have a controller setup to handle the query, and it returns the json that looks to be in order, but I am getting no suggestions showing up. Here are the js libraries I am including: <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="/Scripts/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js"></script> <link href="/Content/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" /> and here is the javascript and the form tags: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function () { $("#organization").autocomplete({ source: function (request, response) { $.ajax({ url: '/Organization/OrganizationLookup', dataType: "json", data: { limit: 12, q: request.term } }) }, minLength: 2 }); }); </script> <div class="ui-widget"> <label for="organization">Organization: </label> <input id="organization" /> </div> I get back a json response that looks reasonable from my controller: [{"id":"Sector A","value":"Sector A"},{"id":"Sector B","value":"Sector B"},{"id":"Sector C","value":"Sector C"}] id and value seem to be the default naming that autocomplete is looking for. But I get no joy at all. Any thoughts?

  • How to link jQuery UI datepicker functionality with a select list

    - by take2
    I'm trying to connect jQuery UI's datepicker with a select list. I have found one explanation on jQuery's Forum ( forum.jquery.com/topic/jquery-ui-datepicker-with-select-lists), but I can't get it working. There are input and select list both declared: <select id="selectMonth"><option value="01">Jan</option><option value="02">Feb</option> <option value="03">Mar</option><option value="04">Apr</option>...</select> <select id="selectDay"><option value="01">1</option><option value="02">2</option> <option value="03">3</option><option value="04">4</option>...</select> <select id="selectYear"><option value="2012">2012</option><option value="2013">2013</option> <option value="2014">2014</option>...</select> <p>Date: <input type="text" id="selectedDatepicker" /></p> This is the script: $(function() { $('#selectedDatepicker').datepicker({ beforeShow: readSelected, onSelect: updateSelected, minDate: new Date(2012, 1 - 1, 1), maxDate: new Date(2014, 12 - 1, 31), showOn: 'both', buttonImageOnly: true, buttonImage: 'img/calendar.gif'}); // Prepare to show a date picker linked to three select controls function readSelected() { $('#selectedDatepicker').val($('#selectMonth').val() + '/' + $('#selectDay').val() + '/' + $('#selectYear').val()); return {}; } // Update three select controls to match a date picker selection function updateSelected(date) { $('#selectMonth').val(date.substring(0, 2)); $('#selectDay').val(date.substring(3, 5)); $('#selectYear').val(date.substring(6, 10)); } }); And here is the fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/xKXZm/ They are not connected properly, the only "connected behaviour" is that when you click on the input button, it picks up the value of the select list. On the other hand, the select list never picks up the value of the input nor will the input pick up the value of the select list until you click on it.

  • jquery mobile - loading content into a div

    - by Robbiegod
    Jquery Mobile works by “hijacking” a page and loading content and injecting it into the page. It seems that this creates a problem when i try to inject other content into the page. I have my index.html and then a page2.html file. I'm setting up jquery mobile in the normal fashion wrapping the contents of each page in a div like so: <div id="container" data-role="page"> // my content <a href="page2.html">go to page 2</a> </div> when the user taps go to page 2, it does the nice slide effect. The url in the location bar looks like this: index.html#page2.html jquery mobile inject the content of the page using the anchors and applies the transition. nice so everthing works great up to the next part. On page2.html, i have a section that is loading some external data and injecting it into a div. <a href="http://www.somedomain.com/myata.php" class="ajaxtrigger" data-role="none">mydata</a> <div id="target"></div> <script src="js/code.js"></script> <script src="js/loader.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $('.ajaxtrigger').trigger('click'); }); </script> The problem i am having is that when i enable the transitions in jquery mobile this script doesn't work. It won't load the data into the div. bummer. Anyone know what i need to do to get it to trigger and load the content into that div?

  • Jquery plugin seems to leak memory no matter what I do

    - by ddombrow
    I've recently been tasked with ferreting out some memory leaks in an application for my work. I've narrowed down one of the big leaks to a jquery plugin. It appears we're using a modified version of a popular context menu jquery plugin. It looks like one of the developers before me attempted to add a destroy method. I noticed it wasn't very well written and attempted to rewrite. Here's the meat of my destroy method: if (menu.childMenus) { for (var i = 0; i < menu.childMenus.length; i++) { $(menu.childMenus[i]).destroy(menu.childMenus[i], 'contextmenu'); } } var recursiveUnbind = function(node) { $(node).unbind(); //$(node).empty().remove(); $.each(node, function(obj) { recursiveUnbind(obj); }); }; $.each(menu, function() { recursiveUnbind(menu); }); $(menu).empty().remove(); In my mind this code should blow away all the jquery event binding and remove the dom elements, yet still the plugin leaks gobs of memory in IE7. The modified plugin with a test page can be found here: http://www.olduglyhead.com/jquery/leaks/ Clicking the button repeatedly will cause IE7 to leak a bunch of memory.

So here I have a set of indexed events being generated on a page: <div id="events"> <div class="event"> <input type="text" id="event_0_startDate" name="event[0].startDate" class="date"/> <input type="hidden" id="event_0_startDate_day" name="event[0].startDate_day" /> <input type="hidden" id="event_0_startDate_month" name="event[0].startDate_month" /> <input type="hidden" id="event_0_startDate_year" name="event[0].startDate_year"/> </div> <div class="event"> <input type="text" id="event_1_startDate" name="event[1].startDate" class="date"/> <input type="hidden" id="event_1_startDate_day" name="event[1].startDate_day" /> <input type="hidden" id="event_1_startDate_month" name="event[1].startDate_month" /> <input type="hidden" id="event_1_startDate_year" name="event[1].startDate_year" /> </div> .... more event divs .... </div> <a href="#" id="add_event">Add event</a> .. with datepicker widget attached: $(".date").datepicker({ onClose: function(dateText,picker) { var prefix = $(this).attr('id'); $('#' + prefix + '_month').val( dateText.split(/\//)[0] ); $('#' + prefix + '_day').val( dateText.split(/\//)[1] ); $('#' + prefix + '_year').val( dateText.split(/\//)[2] ); } }); I need a function that will add inside div id="events" after the last div class="event" another div class="event" where N is the next index and attach datepicker widget above to the new input field with class="date" like: <div class="event"> <input type="text" id="event_N_startDate" name="event[N].startDate" class="date"/> <input type="hidden" id="event_N_startDate_day" name="event[N].startDate_day"/> <input type="hidden" id="event_N_startDate_month" name="event[N].startDate_month" /> <input type="hidden" id="event_N_startDate_year" name="event[N].startDate_year" /> </div> Thank you.

  • Jquery nested div .click event

    - by Sylph
    The link #loadContent will loads tree.html. Upon success loading the content, the script reinitialize some functions which is in tree.html. However, I am unable to get the .click event to function in the loaded content. Index.html <a href="#" id="loadContent">Load</a> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#loadContent").click(function() { $.ajax({ url: "tree.html" ,success: function(data) { $('#result').html(data); $("#demo_1").tree({ rules : { use_max_children : false, use_max_depth : false }, callback : { onmove : function (NODE,REF_NODE,TYPE,TREE_OBJ,RB) { alert(TREE_OBJ.get_text(NODE) + " " + TYPE + " " + TREE_OBJ.get_text(REF_NODE)); } } }); } }); }); }); </script> <script type="text/javascript" class="source"> $(function () { $.tree.drag_start = function () { $("#log").append("<br />Drag start "); }; $.tree.drag = function () { $("#log").append(" ."); }; $.tree.drag_end = function () { $("#log").append(" Drag end<br />"); }; $("#demo_1").tree({ rules : { use_max_children : false, use_max_depth : false }, callback : { onmove : function (NODE,REF_NODE,TYPE,TREE_OBJ,RB) { alert(TREE_OBJ.get_text(NODE) + " " + TYPE + " " + TREE_OBJ.get_text(REF_NODE)); } } }); $("#demo_2").tree({ rules : { use_max_children : false, use_max_depth : false }, callback : { onmove : function (NODE,REF_NODE,TYPE,TREE_OBJ,RB) { alert(TREE_OBJ.get_text(NODE) + " " + TYPE + " " + TREE_OBJ.get_text(REF_NODE)); } } }); }); </script> <div class="demo" id="demo_2"> <ul> <li id="phtml_1" class="open"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 1</a> <ul> <li id="phtml_2"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Child node 1</a></li> <li id="phtml_3"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Child node 2</a></li> <li id="phtml_4"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Some other child node with longer text</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="phtml_5"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 2</a></li> </ul> </div> <div id="result"></div><br> <div id="log"></div> Tree.html <div class="demo" id="demo_1"> <ul> <li id="phtml_1" class="open"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 1</a> <ul> <li id="phtml_2"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Child node 1</a></li> <li id="phtml_3"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Child node 2</a></li> <li id="phtml_4"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Some other child node with longer text</a></li> </ul> </li> <li id="phtml_5"><a href="#"><ins>&nbsp;</ins>Root node 2</a></li> <li><a class="preset_text" id="1">model 1</a> </li> <li><a class="preset_text" id="2">model 2</a></li> </ul> </div> <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('.preset_text').click(function(){ var target = $(this).attr("id"); alert(target); }); }); </script> In tree.html, I am unable to get the alert(target). However, If I moved this section out from the "div #demo_1" in tree.html, I am able to receive alert(target). <a class="preset_text" id="1">model 1</a> <a class="preset_text" id="2">model 2</a> How can I get to detect the item clicked in the div demo_1 ?   • How do you end up with event-sourcing if you use a xDD approach?

    - by Tomas Jansson
    When working in a TDD or BDD manner your unit tests are supposed to drive your design. But how do you end up with event-sourcing using a xDD techniques? As I see it event sourcing is something you need to adopt early on to take full advantage of it. Lets say that you start without event-sourcing and do a release. Later on when you are releasing version 2.0 you realize that it would be great to use event-sourcing, but at that point you alread have missed all the events from version 1.0 so it makes it much harder to implement. Or do you take some kind of backup of your db from before event-sourcing and use that as base line and then add event-sourcing on top of that?

  • Correctly calling setGridWidth on a jqGrid inside a jQueryUI Dialog

    - by Dan
    I have a jQueryUI dialog (#locDialog) which has a jqGrid ($grid) inside it. When the Dialog opens (initially, but it gets called whenever it opens), I want the $grid to resize to the size of the $locDialog. When I do this initially, I get scrollbars inside the grid (not inside the dialog). If I debug the code, I see the width of the $grid is 677. So, I call setGridWidth() again and check the width and now I have 659, which is 18px less, which is the size of the scroll area for the jqGrid (Dun-dun-dun..) When I rezie the dialog, I resize the grid as well, and everything is happy - no scrollbars, except where necessary. My dialog init code: $locDialog = $('#location-dialog').dialog({ autoOpen: false, modal: true, position: ['center', 100], width: 700, height:500, resizable: true, buttons: { "Show Selected": function() {alert($('#grid').jqGrid('getGridParam','selarrrow'));}, "OK": function() {$(this).dialog('close');}, "Cancel": function() {$(this).dialog('close');} }, open: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridHeight($(this).height()-54); // No idea why 54 is the magic number here $grid.setGridWidth($(this).width(), true); }, close: function(event, ui) { }, resizeStop: function(event, ui) { $grid.setGridWidth($locDialog.width(), true); $grid.setGridHeight($locDialog.height()-54); } }); I am curious if anyone has seen this before. Really, it isn't the end of the world if I initially have unnecessary scrollbars at first, but it is just odd that when I call setGridWidth initially, it doesn't take into account the scroll area of 18px. As far as the magical number 54, that is the number I had to subtract from the height of the dialog value to get the grid to render without unnecessary scrollbars.

  • issues horizontal scrolling using jQuery.ScrollTo / jQuery.SerialScroll

    - by kapil.israni
    Hi, I am trying to develop auto horizontal scrolling for our website using - jQuery.ScrollTo / jQuery.SerialScroll. I am not sure if this is the best jquery library to do that, but if there's something better, please let me know. Here's the behavior that I want, check out foursquare's "Recent Activity" list. The data that will refresh will come from a ajax request that I make every few seconds using window.setInterval. I am not really a CSS/java script guy so I havent been able to figure out jQuery.SerialScroll. Here's the website - look at the "Live job Feeds" list. Currently the list does refresh the data coming from the ajax call, but I dont see the effect, the animation, in fact I dont even think serialScroll is being used. Right now I am doing a - $('#feed-ticker').prepend(content) to pre-append the newly arrived data. You can do a view source to look at the current code. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
