  • altering jQuery UI datepicker format

    i cant for the life of me figure out how to change the date from default mm/dd/yyyy to the european dd/mm/yyyy the manual states to use: $.datepicker.formatDate('yy-mm-dd', new Date(2007, 1 - 1, 26)); so far i have: $('#next_date').datepicker(); which shows the calendar fine but im not sure where the first line of code goes. this for example disables the calendar, nothing shows up, no js errors reported $('#next_date').datepicker.formatDate('yy-mm-dd', new Date(2007, 1 - 1, 26));

  • Finding the best jquery plugins

    Is there a resource for finding the "best" jquery plugins, or at least just the most used ones? For example, I wanted to find a menu jquery plugin but when I goto the jquery website there are so many to look through and I don't see a way to see how popular each one is. For ruby there's the http://ruby-toolbox.com/ which lists many plugins, how popular they are, info about them, etc. Is there something similar or at least some way to filter through all the jquery plugins? EDIT 1: To shed some more light on this - the "most popular" link on the jquery page is useless. I can't find a way to search through it but even worse, the ratings don't seem to mean much. Ex - the first item, in other words the most popular plugin in that list has 5 stars and TWO votes. Doesn't seem like a very reliable resource to me.

    I've searched everywhere, but I can't seem to find any help... I have some textboxes that are created dynamically via JS, so I need to bind all of their classes to an autocomplete. As a result, I need to use the new .live() option. As an example, to bind all items with a class of .foo now and future created: $('.foo').live('click', function(){ alert('clicked'); }); It takes (and behaves) the same as .bind(). However, I want to bind an autocomplete... This doesn't work: $('.foo').live('autocomplete', function(event, ui){ source: 'url.php' // (surpressed other arguments) }); How can I use .live() to bind autocomplete?   • Need help with jQuery UI Accordion navigationFilter option

    I'm building an accordion for navigation. Each section of the accordion has a set of links. The firing code looks like this: $(document).ready(function() { $(".selector").accordion({ collapsible: true, active: false, navigation: true }); }); This all worked fine and dandy until one of the links in each set was edited to point to a single file, call it foo.html. So now if you navigate to foo.html, the location.href matches every section of the accordion (since each section has a link to it) and that opens all the sections, defeating the purpose of the accordion. So I'm pretty sure I need to use the navigationFilter option but I've googled the living hell out of it and haven't found any examples of how to build the function associated with it. Help me, Stack Overflow!

If the element is selected, then the input's value should be the name attribute of that particular LI, whereas if the element is not selected, the value should be updated as empty.     So I have this shopping list coded in php and js: http://www.whatcouldicook.com/recipes/planner So people can add, delete or sort the list and thats fine, I dont want multiple lists and instead just have a list item containing a heading tag to represent a new list. All this works and then using serialize I can save the ordering/modifying of the list. I don't know how to get the list contents however as these will be dynamic from the user. All the code is on that url so hopefully you can examine the code there. Thanks everyone

    I am developing a Phonegap app with JQuery mobile with their latest stable versinos (Phonegap 3 and JQM 1.3.2) for Android platform. My app downloads feeds from Google Feeds API and saves in a SQLite database. But whenever it starts fetching and saving data from the web (the no of feeds that download at a time can be many), the other functionality such as button events halt and freeze. To be precise the a button that opens and closes a panel does not either open or close the panel until the data fetching stops. How am I supposed to solve this issue? The performance has dropped drastically due to this issue in my app.

  • Does jquery live slow down websites?

    Hi I have a problem I am using jquery U.I tabs that load everything with ajax. Now I have it right now everytime you click on a tab a partial view is loaded up into that tab. Now in this partial view their are javascript files that use jquery to bind all the events that are needed in that tab plus some jquery plugins I am using. Now every time that tab is loaded up all those scripts are loaded up. If it is clicked 10 times then those scripts are loaded 10times up meaing now each of say my buttons will now have 10 of the same events on it mean if someone clicks on that button 10 events will all fire off to and do the same thing. So I need to find some solution to either move all the script out and have it on the main page and use jquery.live or some other solution. I tried to do use jquery caching for the U.I tabs but this won't work since some things in say Tab A when changed effect Tab B meaning I need Tab B to be reloaded but the scripts can't reload otherwise I run into the same problem as now.

  • Jrails and jquery-rails together?

    I hope you forgive me if I'm a little confused about this. Jrails rewrites all the helper methods for rjs otherwise in prototype. Jquery-rails overrides rails.js (so I taught the rjs helpers as well, but I see it's not) and the rest of the libraries in jquery instead of prototype. Does it means that with just Jquery-rails I can't use rjs at all? Then do these gems work well together and let me completely forget prototype? Is there any disadvantage in using them together? I read some complaining about the fact that jrails uses jq 1.5 and now there is 1.8, but jquery-rails gives me the last version (is there retro compatibility?), but how will this affect my development (using both the gems together)? I mean have you got some examples of jquery-ui plugins I can't use or I could have problems with? Any help is appreciated. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against prototype, just I keep on having conflicts over conflicts using both of them, and I have to chose I pick Jquery.
