  • MS SQL SELECT stored procedure according to combobox.selectedvalue

    - by Jay
    Hello, In order to fill a datagridview according to the selectedvalue of a combobox I've tried creating a stored procedure. However, as I'm not 100% sure what I'm doing it, depending on the WHERE statement at the end of my stored procedure, either returns everything within the table or nothing at all. This is what's in my class: Public Function GetAankoopDetails(ByRef DisplayMember As String, ByRef ValueMember As String) As DataTable DisplayMember = "AankoopDetailsID" ValueMember = "AankoopDetailsID" If DS.Tables.Count > 0 Then DS.Tables.Remove(DT) End If DT = DAC.ExecuteDataTable(My.Resources.S_AankoopDetails, _Result, _ DAC.Parameter(Const_AankoopID, AankoopID), _ DAC.Parameter("@ReturnValue", 0)) DS.Tables.Add(DT) Return DT End Function Public Function GetAankoopDetails() As DataTable If DS.Tables.Count > 0 Then DS.Tables.Remove(DT) End If DT = DAC.ExecuteDataTable(My.Resources.S_AankoopDetails, _Result, _ DAC.Parameter(Const_AankoopID, AankoopID), _ DAC.Parameter("@ReturnValue", 0)) DS.Tables.Add(DT) Return DT End Function This is the function in the code behind the form I've written in order to fill the datagridview: Private Sub GridAankoopDetails_Fill() Try Me.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor dgvAankoopDetails.DataSource = Nothing _clsAankoopDetails.AankoopDetailsID = cboKeuze.SelectedValue dgvAankoopDetails.DataSource = _clsAankoopDetails.GetAankoopDetails Catch ex As Exception MessageBox.Show("An error occurred while trying to fill the data grid: " & ex.Message, "Oops!", MessageBoxButtons.OK) Finally Me.Cursor = Cursors.Default End Try End Sub And finally, this is my stored procedure: (do note that I'm not sure what I'm doing here) USE [Budget] GO /****** Object: StoredProcedure [dbo].[S_AankoopDetails] Script Date: 04/12/2010 03:10:52 ******/ SET ANSI_NULLS ON GO SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON GO ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[S_AankoopDetails] ( @AankoopID int, @ReturnValue int output ) AS declare @Value int set @Value =@@rowcount if @Value = 0 begin SELECT dbo.tblAankoopDetails.AankoopDetailsID, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.AankoopID, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.ArtikelID, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.Aantal, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.Prijs, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.Korting, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.SoortKorting, dbo.tblAankoopDetails.UitgavenDeelGroepID FROM dbo.tblAankoopDetails INNER JOIN dbo.tblAankoop ON dbo.tblAankoopDetails.AankoopID = dbo.tblAankoop.AankoopID INNER JOIN dbo.tblArtikel ON dbo.tblAankoopDetails.ArtikelID = dbo.tblArtikel.ArtikelID INNER JOIN dbo.tblUitgavenDeelGroep ON dbo.tblAankoopDetails.UitgavenDeelGroepID = dbo.tblUitgavenDeelGroep.UitgavenDeelGroepID WHERE dbo.tblAankoopDetails.Deleted = 0 and dbo.tblAankoopDetails.AankoopID = @AankoopID ORDER BY AankoopID if @@rowcount >0 begin set @ReturnValue=999 end else begin set @ReturnValue=997 end end if @Value >0 begin --Dit wil zeggen dat ik een gebruiker wil ingeven die reeds bestaat. (998) set @ReturnValue=998 end Does anyone know what I'm need to do to resolve this? Kind regards, Jay

  • How to prevent MDI main form closing from MDI Child.

    - by Rekreativc
    Hello! I have a MDI main form. On it I host a form, and I want it to show a message box before it closes (asking the user whether to save changes). So far so good, however I have discovered that closing the MDI main form does not raise a MDI child FormClosing event. I figured I will just call MdiChild.Close() in the MDI main's FormClosing event (which does get raised). This seams to work, however it does causes a problem... In the messagebox that I show, I offer the user to save changes, not to save changes and cancel closing. Normally this works fine, however I can't seem to find a way to cancel MDI main's FormClosing event. Is there a elegant way of doing this? EDIT: I solved this by throwing an exception (when user decides to cancel the closing procedure) which is caught in MDI main's FormClosing event. In this way I know when I have to cancel the MDI main's FormClosing event and this seams to work fine ... However I just can't believe that this "hax" is the only way of doing this. Surely there is a better way?

  • Visibility of Class field-data of Mouse Clicked ImageButton located within WrapPanel

    - by Bill
    I am attempting to obtain the class-data behind an ImageButton that is mouse-clicked; which ImageButton is located within a WrapPanel filled with ImageButtons. The problem I am having is obtaining the visibility of the field data within the class behind the image-button. Although I can see the class, I can neither see nor access the field data. Can anyone please point me in the right direction? // Handles the ImageButton mouseClick event within the WrapPanel. private void SolarSystem_Click(Object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { FrameworkElement fe = e.OriginalSource as FrameworkElement; SelectedPlanet PlanetSelected = new SelectedPlanet(fe); PlanetSelected.Owner = this; MessageBox.Show(PlanetSelected.PlanetName); } // Used to initiate instance of Class and some field data. public SelectedPlanet(FrameworkElement fe) { InitializeComponent(); string sPlanetName = ((PlanetClass)(fe)).PlanetName; return sPlanetName } // Class Data public class PlanetClass { string planetName; public PlanetClass(string planetName) { PlanetName = planetName; } public string PlanetName { set { planetName = value; } get { return planetName; } } }

  • Creating a mouse drag done observable with Reactive Extensions

    - by juharr
    I have the following var leftMouseDown = Observable.FromEvent<MouseButtonEventArgs>(displayCanvas, "MouseLeftButtonDown"); var leftMouseUp = Observable.FromEvent<MouseButtonEventArgs>(displayCanvas, "MouseLeftButtonUp"); var mouseMove = Observable.FromEvent<MouseEventArgs>(displayCanvas, "MouseMove"); var leftMouseDragging = from down in leftMouseDown let startPoint = down.EventArgs.GetPosition(displayCanvas) from move in mouseMove.TakeUntil(leftMouseUp) let endPoint = move.EventArgs.GetPosition(displayCanvas) select new { Start = startPoint, End = endPoint }; which when I subscribe to it will give me the start point of the drag and the current end point. Now I need to do something once the drag is done. I was unsuccessful in attempting to do this completely with RX and ended up doing leftMouseDragging.Subscribe(value=> { dragging = true; //Some other code }); leftMouseUp.Subscribe(e=> { if(dragging) { MessageBox.Show("Just finished dragging"); dragging = false; } }); This works fine until I do a right mouse button drag. Then when I click the left mouse button I get the message box. If I only do a left button drag I get the message box, and then clicking the left mouse button doesn't produce the box. I'd like to do this without the external state, but if nothing else I'd at least like for it to work properly. FYI: I tried making dragging volatile and using a lock, but that didn't work. EDIT It turns out my problem was with a right click context menu. Once I got rid of that my above code worked. So, now my problem is how to I get to have the context menu and still have my code work. I assume the Context menu was handling the left mouse click and that somehow caused my code to not work, but I'm still puzzling it out.

  • Improve speed of own debug visualizer for Delphi 2010

    - by netcodecz
    I wrote Delphi debug visualizer for TDataSet to display values of current row, source + screenshot: http://delphi.netcode.cz/text/tdataset-debug-visualizer.aspx . Working good, but very slow. I did some optimalization (how to get fieldnames) but still for only 20 fields takes 10 seconds to show - very bad. Main problem seems to be slow IOTAThread90.Evaluate used by main code shown below, this procedure cost most of time, line with ** about 80% time. FExpression is name of TDataset in code. procedure TDataSetViewerFrame.mFillData; var iCount: Integer; I: Integer; // sw: TStopwatch; s: string; begin // sw := TStopwatch.StartNew; iCount := StrToIntDef(Evaluate(FExpression+'.Fields.Count'), 0); for I := 0 to iCount - 1 do begin s:= s + Format('%s.Fields[%d].FieldName+'',''+', [FExpression, I]); // FFields.Add(Evaluate(Format('%s.Fields[%d].FieldName', [FExpression, I]))); FValues.Add(Evaluate(Format('%s.Fields[%d].Value', [FExpression, I]))); //** end; if s<> '' then Delete(s, length(s)-4, 5); s := Evaluate(s); s:= Copy(s, 2, Length(s) -2); FFields.CommaText := s; { sw.Stop; s := sw.Elapsed; Application.MessageBox(Pchar(s), '');} end; Now I have no idea how to improve performance.

  • WPF TextBox Interceping RoutedUICommands

    - by Joseph Sturtevant
    I am trying to get Undo/Redo keyboard shortcuts working in my WPF application (I have my own custom functionality implemented using the Command Pattern). It seems, however, that the TextBox control is intercepting my "Undo" RoutedUICommand. What is the simplest way to disable this so that I can catch Ctrl+Z at the root of my UI tree? I would like to avoid putting a ton of code/XAML into each TextBox in my application if possible. The following briefly demonstrates the problem: <Window x:Class="InputBindingSample.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:loc="clr-namespace:InputBindingSample" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Window.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="loc:Window1.MyUndo" Executed="MyUndo_Executed" /> </Window.CommandBindings> <DockPanel LastChildFill="True"> <StackPanel> <Button Content="Ctrl+Z Works If Focus Is Here" /> <TextBox Text="Ctrl+Z Doesn't Work If Focus Is Here" /> </StackPanel> </DockPanel> </Window> using System.Windows; using System.Windows.Input; namespace InputBindingSample { public partial class Window1 { public static readonly RoutedUICommand MyUndo = new RoutedUICommand("MyUndo", "MyUndo", typeof(Window1), new InputGestureCollection(new[] { new KeyGesture(Key.Z, ModifierKeys.Control) })); public Window1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void MyUndo_Executed(object sender, ExecutedRoutedEventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("MyUndo!"); } } }

  • Databinding between 2 Dependency Properties

    - by stefan.at.wpf
    Hello, I'm trying to do databinding between 2 Dependency Properties. I guess this should be quite easy, anyways I just don't get it. I already googled but I couldn't really find out what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to bind the ControlPointProperty to the QuadraticBezierSegment.Point1Property, however it doesn't work. Thanks for any hint! class DataBindingTest : DependencyObject { // Dependency Property public static readonly DependencyProperty ControlPointProperty; // .NET wrapper public Point ControlPoint { get { return (Point)GetValue(DataBindingTest.ControlPointProperty); } set { SetValue(DataBindingTest.ControlPointProperty, value); } } // Register Dependency Property static DataBindingTest() { DataBindingTest.ControlPointProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("ControlPoint", typeof(Point), typeof(DataBindingTest)); } public DataBindingTest() { QuadraticBezierSegment bezier = new QuadraticBezierSegment(); // Binding Binding myBinding = new Binding(); myBinding.Source = ControlPointProperty; BindingOperations.SetBinding(bezier, QuadraticBezierSegment.Point1Property, myBinding); // Test Binding: Change the binding source ControlPoint = new Point(1, 1); MessageBox.Show(bezier.Point1.ToString()); // gives (0,0), should be (1,1) } }

  • RelayCommand sender from ItemsControl item

    - by Padu Merloti
    I've been using MVVM's RelayCommand with success to bind actions to XAML, but I'm having a small problem with my ItemsControl. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Devices}" > <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid Width="100" Margin="4" > <Button Command="{Binding Path=SelectDeviceCommand}" > <Grid> <Image Source="img_small.png"></Image> <Image Source="{Binding Path=Logo}" /> </Grid> </Button> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> In my view model: public RelayCommand SelectDeviceCommand { get; set; } private ObservableCollection<Device> Devices; Devices = CreateListOfDevices(); private void InitializeCommands() { SelectDeviceCommand = new RelayCommand((s) => MessageBox.Show(s.ToString())); } How do I define my SelectDeviceCommand in my view model in order to receive object that is bound to that item? My SelectDeviceCommand is not even being called... (but that I guess is because I need to make my Device a mini-viewmodel and implement the SelectDeviceCommand in it, is that correct?)

  • Detect if any USB drive is detected or if not using WinForm Application in Visual C#

    - by Pavan Kumar
    I want to do the following things in my application 1) I want to display whether any USB drive is inserted or not in my application to prompt the user to insert a USB drive. I just want to notify the user if any USB dirve is inserted else prompt him to insert one using a label or something (i want to avoid messagebox as it will keep appearing whenever a device is inserted or removed. It will be irritating for the end user) in my Visual C# WinForm Application. If any USB drive is present display "USB drive detected" in the label. The user may add one or more USB sticks but the status will remain same. When there is none then the status of the label will change to "No USB drives found.Please insert a USB drive". 2) When one or more USB drive is added the volume name with the drive letter for example "James(F:)" is added to the Combobox list. The combobox list also needs to remove the entry for the USB drive added in the list automatically when it is removed . So when there is no USB the list should be empty and the label will again prompt user to insert a USB stick or drive.

  • COMException in System.WIndows.Forms.dll with Interactive Brokers TWS API

    - by Lirik
    Hi, I've been trying to run the sample project provided with the tutorial at stockbotprogramming http://www.stockbotprogramming.com/sharpcibtutorial1.php , but I keep getting a COMException every time I run the application. I have the TWS Client running and the sample VB projects provided with the API are able to connect just fine, but when I try to use the C# sample provided by the tutorial then I get the following exception: An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in System.Windows.Forms.dll Th exception happens when I try to add the TWS ActiveX control: namespace CSharpTutorial1 { public partial class Form1 : Form { private AxTWSLib.AxTws tws; public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { tws = new AxTWSLib.AxTws(); tws.BeginInit(); tws.Enabled = true; tws.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(32, 664); tws.Name = "tws"; Controls.Add(tws); // <-- EXCEPTION HERE! tws.EndInit(); tws.connect("127.0.0.1", 7496, 0); String msg = "Connected to TWS server version " + tws.serverVersion + "at " + tws.TwsConnectionTime; MessageBox.Show(msg); } } } Does anybody know what could be causing this exception? Any ideas on how to fix it?

  • Accessing a com object's vtable in c#

    - by Martin Booth
    I'm attempting to access a com object's vtable in memory and getting nowhere. From what I have read, the first 4 bytes in memory of a com object should be a pointer to the vtableptr, which in turn is a pointer to the vtable. Although I'm not sure I expect to find my test method at slot 7 in this com object I have tried them all and nothing looks like the address of my function. If anyone can make the necessary changes to this sample to get it to work (the aim is just to try and invoke the Test method on the Tester class by accessing the com object's vtable and locating the method in whichever row it turns up) I would be very grateful. I know it is rare that anyone would need to do this, but please accept I do need to do something quite similar and have considered the alternatives Thanks in advance [ComVisible(true)] public class Tester { public void Test() { MessageBox.Show("Here"); } } public delegate void TestDelegate(); private void main() { Tester t = new Tester(); GCHandle objectHandle = GCHandle.Alloc(t); IntPtr objectPtr = GCHandle.ToIntPtr(objectHandle); IntPtr vTable = (IntPtr)Marshal.ReadInt32(objectPtr); IntPtr vTablePtr = (IntPtr)Marshal.ReadInt32(vTable); IntPtr functionPtr = (IntPtr)Marshal.ReadInt32(vTablePtr, 7 * 4); // 7 may be incorrect but i have tried many different values TestDelegate func = (TestDelegate)Marshal.GetDelegateForFunctionPointer(functionPtr, typeof(TestDelegate)); func(); objectHandle.Free(); }

  • Better why of looping to detect change.

    As of now I'm using a while(true) method to detect changes in memory. The problem with this is it's kill the applications performance. • WPF - How to properly reference a class from XAML

    - by Andy T
    OK, this is a super super noob question, one that I'm almost embarrassed to ask... I want to reference a class in my XAML file. It's a DataTemplateSelector for selecting the right edit template for a DataGrid column. Anyway, I've written the class into my code behind, added the local namespace to the top of top of the XAML, but when I try to reference the class from the XAML, it tells me the class does not exist in the local namespace. I must be missing something really really simple but I just can't understand it... Here's my code. XAML: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:tk="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wpf/2008/toolkit" xmlns:local="clr-namespace:CustomFields" xmlns:col="clr-namespace:System.Collections;assembly=mscorlib" xmlns:sys="clr-namespace:System;assembly=mscorlib" x:Class="CustomFields.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="Define Custom Fields" Width="425" Height="400" MinWidth="425" MinHeight="400"> <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <local:RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector> blah blah blah... </local:RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector> </ResourceDictionary> </Window.Resources> C#: namespace CustomFields { /// /// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml /// public partial class MainWindow : Window { public MainWindow() { this.InitializeComponent(); // Insert code required on object creation below this point. } } public class RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector : DataTemplateSelector { public RangeValuesEditTemplateSelector(){ MessageBox.Show("hello"); } } } Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? I thought this should be simple as 1-2-3... Thanks! AT

  • How to effectively use WorkbookBeforeClose event correctly?

    - by Ahmad
    On a daily basis, a person needs to check that specific workbooks have been correctly updated with Bloomberg and Reuters market data ie. all data has pulled through and that the 'numbers look correct'. In the past, people were not checking the 'numbers' which led to inaccurate uploads to other systems etc. The idea is that 'something' needs to be developed to prevent the use from closing/saving the workbook unless he/she has checked that the updates are correct/accurate. The numbers look correct action is purely an intuitive exercise, thus will not be coded in any way. The simple solution was to prompt users prior to closing the specific workbook to verify that the data has been checked. Using VSTO SE for Excel 2007, an Add-in was created which hooks into the WorkbookBeforeClose event which is initialised in the add-in ThisAddIn_Startup private void wb_BeforeClose(Xl.Workbook wb, ref bool cancel) { //.... snip ... if (list.Contains(wb.Name)) { DailogResult result = MessageBox.Show("some message", "sometitle", MessageBoxButtons.YesNo); if (result != DialogResult.Yes) { cancel = true; // i think this prevents the whole application from closing } } } I have found the following ThisApplication.WorkbookBeforeSave vs ThisWorkbook.Application.WorkbookBeforeSave which recommends that one should use the ThisApplication.WorkbookBeforeClose event which I think is what I am doing since will span all files opened. The issue I have with the approach is that assuming that I have several files open, some of which are in my list, the event prevents Excel from closing all files sequentially. It now requires each file to be closed individually. Am I using the event correctly and is this effective & efficient use of the event? Should I use the Application level event or document level event? Is there a way to prevent the above behaviour? Any other suggestions are welcomed VS 2005 with VSTO SE

  • Raw FTP SSL with C#

    - by Chuck
    Hi, I'm trying to understand how SSL works. In my wish to make a small FTP client which supports SSL I've run into some problems: TcpClient FtpConnection = new TcpClient(FtpServer, FtpPort); NetworkStream FtpStream = FtpConnection.GetStream(); StreamReader FtpReader = new StreamReader(FtpStream); FtpWriter = new StreamWriter(IrcStream); send_cmd("AUTH SSL"); send_cmd is just a FtpWriter.WriteLine(text); FtpWriter.Flush(); function. My "problem" is this: First I need to make a (non-ssl) connection to the FTP, then tell it to do a ssl connection (AUTH SSL), and I would guess I then need to make a new connection - something like: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(FtpServer, FtpPort); SslStream sslStream = new SslStream(client.GetStream(), false, new RemoteCertificateValidationCallback(ValidateServerCertificate), null); try { sslStream.AuthenticateAsClient("foobar"); } catch (AuthenticationException e) { MessageBox.Show("Authentication failed - closing the connection."); client.Close(); return; } Taken from msdn. I keep dying on handshake failed due to unexpected packet format (which I've tried googling, but all say it's because the author has connected to a wrong port), which I take as: The connection is not ssl until AUTH SSL is send to it. So my question is, how would i go about making this a "hybrid" connection so I can make an SSL connection to the server? Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • CodeDom : compile partial class

    - by James
    I'm attempting to compile code in a text file to change a value in a TextBox on the main form of a WinForms application. Ie. add another partial class with method to the calling form. The form has one button (button1) and one TextBox (textBox1). The code in the text file is: this.textBox1.Text = "Hello World!!"; And the code: namespace WinFormCodeCompile { public partial class Form1 : Form { public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); } private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Load code from file StreamReader sReader = new StreamReader(@"Code.txt"); string input = sReader.ReadToEnd(); sReader.Close(); // Code literal string code = @"using System; using System.Windows.Forms; namespace WinFormCodeCompile { public partial class Form1 : Form { public void UpdateText() {" + input + @" } } }"; // Compile code CSharpCodeProvider cProv = new CSharpCodeProvider(); CompilerParameters cParams = new CompilerParameters(); cParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("mscorlib.dll"); cParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.dll"); cParams.ReferencedAssemblies.Add("System.Windows.Forms.dll"); cParams.GenerateExecutable = false; cParams.GenerateInMemory = true; CompilerResults cResults = cProv.CompileAssemblyFromSource(cParams, code); // Check for errors if (cResults.Errors.Count != 0) { foreach (var er in cResults.Errors) { MessageBox.Show(er.ToString()); } } else { // Attempt to execute method. object obj = cResults.CompiledAssembly.CreateInstance("WinFormCodeCompile.Form1"); Type t = obj.GetType(); t.InvokeMember("UpdateText", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, obj, null); } } } } When I compile the code, the CompilerResults returns an error that says WinFormCodeCompile.Form1 does not contain a definition for textBox1. Is there a way to dynamically create another partial class file to the calling assembly and execute that code? I assume I'm missing something really simple here.

  • BizTalk SMTP Message Part Getting XML Encoding

    - by alram
    I have a email multi-part message which I am using to send failed message routing from the messagebox to a business users mailbox. Email{ Body - RawString; OriginalMessage - string}; The original message gets set from the received message that activates the orchestration. For example assume the original failed message is from a Flat file that failed disassembly with the contents: Order,1,2,3,4,5,<6>, I set the message using: Email.OriginalMessage = MyUtil.XlangMsgToStringMethod(FailedMessage);// XmlDocument type, this can be malformed xml, valid xml, or flat file that fails in disassembler. I can then write to the event log to test whats in Email.OriginalMessage: System.Diagnostics.EventLog.WriteEntry("BizTalk Server 2006", Email.OriginalMessage, Information); // This displays the correct original message "Order, 1,2,3,4,5,<6," When the email is delivered using a SMTP server and a dynamic send port, with the attachment set to text/plain mime type, the original message gets xml encoding escaped and wrapped in xml: <?xml version="1.0"?> <string>Order, 1,2,3,4,5,&lt;6&gt;,</string> Any ideas why? The SMTP port has passthrutransmit as pipeline. Thanks.

  • Validating Application Settings Key Values in Isolated Storage for Windows Phone Applications

    - by Martin Anderson
    Hello everyone. I am very new at all this c# Windows Phone programming, so this is most probably a dumb question, but I need to know anywho... IsolatedStorageSettings appSettings = IsolatedStorageSettings.ApplicationSettings; if (!appSettings.Contains("isFirstRun")) { firstrunCheckBox.Opacity = 0.5; MessageBox.Show("isFirstRun not found - creating as true"); appSettings.Add("isFirstRun", "true"); appSettings.Save(); firstrunCheckBox.Opacity = 1; firstrunCheckBox.IsChecked = true; } else { if (appSettings["isFirstRun"] == "true") { firstrunCheckBox.Opacity = 1; firstrunCheckBox.IsChecked = true; } else if (appSettings["isFirstRun"] == "false") { firstrunCheckBox.Opacity = 1; firstrunCheckBox.IsChecked = false; } else { firstrunCheckBox.Opacity = 0.5; } } I am trying to firstly check if there is a specific key in my Application Settings Isolated Storage, and then wish to make a CheckBox appear checked or unchecked depending on if the value for that key is "true" or "false". Also I am defaulting the opacity of the checkbox to 0.5 opacity when no action is taken upon it. With the code I have, I get the warnings Possible unintended reference comparison; to get a value comparison, cast the left hand side to type 'string' Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. I have explored storing data in an Isolated Storage txt file, and that worked, I am now trying Application Settings, and will finally try to download and store an xml file, as well as create and store user settings into an xml file. I want to try understand all the options open to me, and use which ever runs better and quicker
