  • Program to set time on local computer using GPS data

    I have a laptop running Windows XP that does not connect to the Internet and I would like to use a USB GPS receiver as a time source to set the clock. Generally, the laptop will not have access to the open sky so getting a strong, multi-satellite connection is not likely. Ideally, I would like to be able to have the program detect the GPS receiver and set the clock without intervention from the user. Is what I'm seeking even feasible?

  • Program for Synchronizing folders across multiple computers automatically

    I work in a company of about 20 people, I need to share some files with all of them in a folder(s) (files are constantly changed by me).., so they need to get the latest changed file automatically (pushed to their computer) What's the best program/system for this task? I need to be able to administrate their read/write access to the folder on a user level. Windows Live Mesh seemed to be perfect for me, but unfortunatly there's a limit of only 9 people in that system.

  • Program to swap files between drives?

    Has anyone built a program/script to transfer files between 2 hard drives, but like if both are near full....so one copies 1 file over then the other copies the other file, then they delete the files that were copied? Kind of annoying, have a 6tb raid at about 4tb full, then 1 4.5tb basically full, can't really swap them easily....without doing many copies and deletes of files.... Anyone know a way to make them just swap? lol

    I am sure I am not the only one that asked this question. we have a daily conf call that tanks place in a foreign country. too early to attend so I decided to use skype and record it automatically. I use Task Scheduler "c:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe"/callto:+XXXXXXXXXX,,,125 the dialer is supposed to dial the XX number and wait a few seconds (the ",") then dial the 125 access code. Unfortunatly Skype doesnt accept the "," pause Any solution ? thank you

  • Load program to one side of monitor in Windows 7

    This is a question to enhance the feature on Windows 7, where you drag the screen to one side and it docks to that side of the screen. Is there a way to have it so when I load a program, it knows that I always like it docked on the right side, so it just loads on the right side? And I don't have to drag it to the right. It will be done for Internet Explorer, so, if there is no setting on the Shortcut for this, can it be programmed into the browser?

    Is there a program which lets you easily get the x,y coordinates for your cursor? Basically, I move my cursor to somewhere on my screen, it shows me the x,y coordinates and has an option to copy them to the clipboard or export them somehow. I can already do this if I take a screenshot and open it in MS Paint, then as I move the mouse cursor over the screenshot it shows the coordinates in the status bar, however I have to manually write them down, hence its not convenient.

    I have some applications like VMWare, SQL Server, which have a lot services started even without me using the software. I have changed the startup of this services to manual and have created a .bat file to start the services up and then I launch the program. But, its not a efficient solution. I would like to start the services once the application starts and stop once the application closes as well. Does anyone know of any solution?

    I can't get access to Aero transparency themes in Windows 7. The troubleshooter says that I need to close programs that are using mirror drivers in order for that to work. I've looked through my task manager list of running applications and I can't see any that jump out as the culprit. Is there a program that will tell me what the app causing this issue is? MS Troubleshooter doesn't give me the details.

  • Java Copy/Paste org.w3c.dom.Node between two running copies of the same program

    I have a program that shows a tree representation of an XML file. Using a number of sources online I have Copy/Paste within a single instance of the program working. I am using the system Clipboard. What I need though is to be able to copy a node from one instance of the program and paste to a different instance of the same program. I have tried a number of different options, all resulting in the same behavior. When pasting from within the same application the clipboardContent contains a "transferable" object with the correct data along with an isLocal set to "true". When I perform the copy and then attempt the paste from another instance of the same program running the clipboardContent contains a "flavorsToData" HashMap and "flavors" values, the check for isDataFlavorSupported fails (never hits my custom class that represents the new flavor). I have tried using different values for the requestor object in the getContents() call. Likewise I have tried a few different ClipboardOwners for the setContent() call. Neither seem to change the behavior in any way. I am sorely tempted to convert the node that is being copied back into a textual XML format, and then on the paste convert back to the DOM model, but would rather not if possible.   • VERY strange stack overflow in C++ program

    Hello, I wrote a program some time ago (Mac OS X, C++, SDL, FMOD) and it perfomed rather good. But lately I wanted to extend its functionality and added some more code to it. And now, when I run it and try to test the new functionality, the program crashes with SIGABRT. Looking into debugger, on function stack I see: _kill kill$UNIX2003 raise __abort __stack_chk_fail odtworz <-- my function that was was modified As far as I know, "__stack_chk_fail" indicates a stack overflow. But that's not the weirdest thing about it. In this function "odtworz", I have some code like this: ... koniec = 0; while ( koniec == 0 ) { ... if (mode == 1) { ... } else if (mode == 2) { ... } else if (mode == 3) { ... } } mode is a global variable and is set to value "2" in a function before. And now imagine - if I delete the third if statement (mode == 3) which never gets executed in this mode, the program doesn't crash! Deleting code that doesn't even get to be executed helps the situation! Now, I don't want to delete this code because it's for other mode of my program. And it works fine there. So any hints where I can search? What could be possibly wrong with this?

    Where do you guys store 3rd party (and your own) components? Do you keep separate copies per Delphi version? For years I've been using c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\, even for Delphi 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010, like this: c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\AggPas\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\DeHL\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\DevExpress\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\FastCode\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\FastMM\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\Fundamentals\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\Graphics32\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\JCL\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\JVCL\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\OmniThread\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\Raize\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\TeeChartPro\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\TurboPower\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\VirtualTreeView\ c:\program files\borland\delphi7\lib\Zeos\ However, nowadays I don't even use Delphi7 anymore (what can it do that 2010 can't?), so this path doesn't make much sense anymore.
