  I have 3-4 years worth of notes on proper Teradata deployment across multiple operating systems.   The topic that is too large to cover succinctly in a blog entry.   I'm trying something new:  document a specific situation, consolidate the facts, document diagnostic procedures and then clone the structure to cover other obiee deployments (11g and other operating systems). Until the icon below is removed, this blog entry may be revised frequently.  No construction between June 6th through June 25th. Getting started obiee 10g certification:  pg 24-25 Teradata V2R5.1.x - V2R6.2, Client 13.10, certified 10.1.3.4.1obiee 10g documentation: Deployment Guide, Server Administration, Install/Config Guideobiee overview: teradata connectivity downloads: ( requires registration )solaris odbc drivers: sparc 13.10:  Choose 13.10.00.04  ( ReadMe ) sparc 14.00: probably would work, but not certified by Oracle on 10g I assume you have obiee 10.1.3.4.1 installed; 10.1.3.4.2 would be a better choice. • Jobs with anacron won't run

  I would like to run two bash scripts daily using anacron in order to backup some data. Unfortunately I can't figure out why said scripts are not executed. For test purposes I let cron execute the scripts and it worked fine. cat /etc/anacrontab gives # /etc/anacrontab: configuration file for anacron # See anacron(8) and anacrontab(5) for details.   I have set up a new PC and installed cygwin on it. Its windows 7 pro. I have already done a lot of research on this problem. I have already uninstalled and installed cygwin more than 5 times. Done rebaseall everytime I installed it. Checked for possible BLODA, I had notron antivirus, which I have removed. As an aside, I tried posting this question to cygwin mailing list after subscribing to it. But my mail does not appear on the list. I suppose they want address to be munged and I have no clue how to do it. supposedly, they are treating it as a spam. Any idea how I can post to the mailing list there.

  I'm using Visual Studio 11 Beta at home, mainly for learning purposes. But now it's possible to download VS 2012 RC. Does it make sense to install it instead? Does it have many changes comparing with VS 11? I know that VS 11 doesn't work with Azure, was it fixed in VS 2012? EDIT: Actually I found this: What’s new in the RC since Beta, which describes changes in RC and if I decide to install it, I don't need to uninstall previous version: We’ve enabled upgrade from beta to RC, so if you’re using the same product edition (e.g. Professional, Ultimate, etc.), you do not need to uninstall the beta first. Simply run the Visual Studio 2012 RC installer, which will uninstall the right Beta bits and lay down the RC bits, all at once.

  I just ran into trouble with the AreaDescriptionFilter of Spark using MVC 2 Beta. The following line is from my Application.spark file. It results in the view engine looking in all possible locations of the view - except in the folders of the area "Shell". # Html.RenderAction("ShowMainMenu", "Navigation", new { area = "Shell" }); Running the same action using http://localhost/Shell/Navigation/ShowMainMenu executes fine and recognizes the area's view directory as expected. Any ideas how to fix this?

I'm nervous about using beta versions but at the same time I really like what they are doing and don't want to deal with legacy 2.3.5 issues with these apps. Is it better to wait these things out, or buckle-up, deal with early adopter issues and get a head start on the future. Thanks for any light you can shed.

• TFS 2010 Source Branches Never The Same

  I have my root branch lets call it Alpha and one branch that was branched from that root lets call it Beta. I made some changes in the Beta branch and merged them back to Alpha. In theory now Alpha and Beta should be identical branches and when I do a diff they are identical. If I attempt to merge Alpha with Beta again without making any changes the changes I originally merged from Beta to Alpha will merge again from Alpha to Beta. Completing that merge and checking in the branches are the same. Now I can merge again. I can do this over and over again with no end. I was just wondering if anyone has ran into this problem before and how it can be fix. At first I thought it was harmless but when I make more changes in the Beta branch and merge the new changes as well as the original changes get merges overriding changes to these files making a mess. Thanks!

  HI there! I've run into some problem while learning to combine .sh files and PHP. I've create a file test.sh and in that file I call a PHP file called test.php. If I double click on the .sh file then it runs perfectly but when I try to run it from the terminal I get "command not found". I'm in the exact folder as my .sh file but it wont work. Here's my test.sh: #!/bin/bash LIB=${0/%cli/} exec php -q ${LIB}test.php one two three exit; When I doubleclick on the test.sh file then it returns the argv array like it suppost to. But why can't I run it from terminal?
