I prefer that my HTML be both XHTML and CSS standards complaint according to the W3C tests. IE9 promises to be not only standards compliant but much better in performance. I am looking forward to its release.

    I have been employeed from the same company (mobile phone business) for quite some time today like a Customer Support Represenative. I also have usually completed nicely until recently and loved the task. Into a Person Support/Revenue middleapproximately we've been converted by May and we've to purchase Television service to clients who call-in about their mobile phone service... They need us to become really manipulative with it. We havent had instruction on it. and our supervisors actually dont understand something about any of it possibly but need us to "Purchase! Purchase! Purchase!" ugggh. At I will become at my work any guidance? Revenue 've never be completed by me and I truly worry losing my work due to my performance. Revenue makes me uneasy...   • Eclipse / Aptana File Sync Solutions

    Our development team uses Eclipse + Aptana to do their web development work. Currently, most of them are mapping their Eclipse projects directly to the web server. I'd rather them create a local project and use that to sync to the web server project directory they are working on. The issue is that there aren't any good solutions which is just appalling given the popularity of the two. The FileSync plugin for Eclipse is only one-way. Meaning if another developer makes a change to the file on the server, another dev isn't even notified and could overwrite the change. The File Transfer option in Aptana 2.0 doesn't support any sort of Sync, just manually uploading/downloading files. The Sync option in Aptana 1.5.1 doesn't allow you to merge files when they are different. You can only update one or the other. It does however allow you to view a diff (but only if you right click and select) and in that diff you can't make any changes. I did find a way to allow files to be uploaded to their Sync repositories in Aptana using Eclipse Monkey. However it doesn't work if a user saves multiple files at once, 'Save All', again it doesn't work. And additionally, there is no notification if a user opens a local file that has an updated copy on the server. I tried to add one using Eclipse Monkey but I couldn't find any sort of listener in the Eclipse API to do it and any Eclipse Monkey documentation is far and few between. My only solution at this point is just to let them continue to map directly to the server or ask them to do a manual download before they do any work (but again what if someone uploads a change right after they do that). Anyone have any ideas?

    I have a problem, I need to sync version of the project. Changes are performed on main project that resides on central Coldfusion server. There are about 30 remote Coldfusion servers, that has to sync with latest version on central server. New synch application will to be done in Java! I have a direct link to each remote location. Mostly Windows OS and Windows tools are used. My idea: The synchronization is performed at the level of synchronization of folders. I would like to avoid the use of SVN and similar tools. My idea is to carry out comparison of folders on the local server (comparison is performed between the old and new versions),with NO communication with remote servers, make the difference between the versions and the same is sent to the remote machines. We will install Tomcat on every remote server. "Sync application" deployed on Tomcat will take care about differences. Remote server will return me an answer, about the success of the sync. Any kind of suggestion or completely new approach on this topic is more than welcome. Thanks Best regards

    Android has the Gmail push features, which means the new message arrives in the mailbox without checking or refreshing the mailbox. As I understand, the sync processes are like these: 1) User turns on the sync 2) There will be a alert msg and the sync flag in the Gmail DB of this device will be True 3) When a new email reach the Gmail Server, it will check if the device sync value, if it's True then send the email OK, here, I don't quite understand how exactly does it work, For a WiFi and cell signal connection, does the phone has a TCP socket open keep listening to the Gmail Server, or when a new email arrives the Server send a SMS alert to the phone, and then it will open the data channel to fetch the email? Are the two ways of connections have different approaches? And second question is which method is the priority one? Say when you are in the middle of receiving data(emails), and suddenly the phone connect to a wireless network, will the data socket be closed and then reopened for the WiFi one? What's the behavior for the case when carrier's data channel and WiFi flips? I have also downloaded the source code, anyone knows which part should I be looking into in order to solves my questions? I found a folder called "email" inside the folder "package", should I be looking at its code? I know I asked quite some questions here, I'd appreciate if you know the answer for any of them, thanks very much!

    Can anyone tell me if there are any clients (browsers) that define a functioning Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty that do NOT define a Function.prototype.call?   • Problems setting NTP sever with w32tm for a DC that is a Hyper-V guest

    Hello ! I have tried to sett my DC to get its time from several NTP severs. I follow this answer (http://serverfault.com/questions/24298/w32time-sync-problems-for-hyper-v-guests-w32time-event-ids-38-24-29-35/24299#24299) to do it. First I disable Time Synchronization in the Hyper-V Integration Services for each guest. Then restart the Windows Time serviceon the guest. I had before this used this command: w32tm /config /manualpeerlist:"ntp.uio.no;timekeeper. uio.no;nissen.uio.no;0.no.pool.ntp.org;1.no.pool.ntp.org;2.no.pool.ntp.org" /syn cfromflags:manual /reliable:yes /update And the cmd sad: The command completed successfully. But the time was still 10 min wrong... I run w32tm again after restarted the DC without it having any effect.   • client-server syncing methodology [theoretical]

    I'm in the progress of building an web-app that syncs with an iOS client. I'm currently tackling trying to figure out how to go about about syncing. I've come up with following two directions: I've got a fairly simple server web-app with a list of items. They are ordered by date modified and as such syncing the order does not matter. One direction I'm considering is to let the client deal with syncing. I've already got an API that lets the client get the data, as well as do certain actions on it, such as update, add or remove single items. I was considering: 1) on each sync asking the server for all items modified since the last successful sync and updating the local records based on what's returned by the server, and 2) building a persistent queue of create / remove / update requests on the client, and keeping them until confirmation by the server. The risk with this approach is that I'm basically asking each side to send changes to the other side, hoping it works smoothly, but risking a diversion at some point. This would probably be more bandwidth-efficient, though. The other direction I was considering was a more traditional model. I would have a "sync" process in which the client would send its whole list to the server (or a subset since last modified sync), the server would update the data on the server (by fixing conflicts by keeping the last modified item, and keeping deleted items with a deleted = 1 field), and the server would return an updated list of items (since last successful sync) which the client would then replace its data with. Thoughts?

  • How do I troubleshoot a problem syncing Google contacts to an iPad?

    I use my MacBook Pro to sync content onto my wife's iPad. (She doesn't have a computer.) She doesn't want all my contacts from the Address Book app on my MBP. But she does want her Google contacts on her iPad. I've tried the following settings in iTunes: I created a group in my address book called "Claire's" (and put just a couple contacts in it), since if one enables "Sync Address Book Contacts" one either has to select "All" or at least one group. I've double-checked her email address in the dialog that comes up after pressing the "Configure" button. But after syncing, only the couple contacts in the "Claire's" group are in the Contacts app on her iPad. I've checked her Google contacts, and she has over 2000. For some reason they're not syncing. How do I find out why they're not? I looked to see if I could just use an app to do the sync on the iPad, but couldn't find one with good ratings. Do you have one to recommend so I can give up struggling with getting this working in iTunes?

  • Offline productivity

    On some days I'm commuting 2hs (oneway) in the train. I don't have any mobile internet nor is there always WiFi service in the train. Because of security reasons I can't do any work in the train so I'm trying to work on my geek time. I'm looking for general solutions on how to do this (I'm on FireFox/Windows but I don't think it matters) Email works perfectly with gmail offline. It syncs directly when online and remembers complicated stuff. So far I used the ScrapBook plugin to store an website. It works good, but I have to download my favorite news page every day again - I want it to sync as soon as possible. It would even be more awesome if I could click a page on my desktop and my laptop would sync as soon as it has the chance. (edit: maybe the autosave plugin for scrapbook can do this) Similarily, I use the Downloadhelper plugin to download youtube vids, but I'd like something that automatically downloads videos from a given channel. Any tips are welcome. So far my early morning schedule is: wake up, power on laptop, make coffee, power off laptop and leave within 10 minutes (enough time for GMail to sync) but I can imagine a system where my laptop stays on during the night (or boots before I wake (and makes me coffee :])).

    I have a website using cPanel on a dedicated account, I would like to be able to automatically sync the website to a second hosting company or perhaps to a local (in house ) server. Basically this is a type of replication. The website is database driven (MySQL), so Ideally it would sync everything (content, database, emails etc.) , but most importantly is syncing the website files and its database. I'm not so much looking for a fail-over solution as an automatic replication solution, so if the primary site (Server) goes off-line, I can manually bring up the replicated site quickly. I'm familiar with tools like unison and rsync, but most of these only sync file(s) and do not do too well with open database connections.

  • How to delete a podcast from an iPod and not have it reappear after syncing with iTunes?

    Hi everyone, Say I have subscribe to a single podcast and I have Episode 1 and Episode 2 on my iPod. Each episode is 30 minutes long. I listen to the entirety of Episode 1 and just the first 15 minutes of Episode 2. I delete Episode 1 using my iPod's menu. Say Episode 3 has just come out. I want to be able to sync with iTunes, and after doing so, have just Episodes 2 and 3 on my iPod (with Episode 2 "half listened to"). How can I do this? Ideal state... Episode 1 = deleted Episode 2 = 15 minutes played already Episode 3 = unplayed I've found that if I set the Sync Podcast option in iTunes to "all new", I get: "All new" Episode 1 = not on the iPod Episode 2 = not on the iPod Episode 3 = unplayed and if I set the Sync Podcast option in iTunes to "all unplayed" "All unplayed" Episode 1 = unplayed Episode 2 = 15 minutes played already Episode 3 = unplayedv neither option does what I want. Is there an option to get my "ideal state"?

    A few days ago someone showed me a pricing guide from a Linux vendor and I was a bit surprised at the complexity of it. Especially when you look at larger servers (4 or 8 sockets) and when adding virtual machine use into the mix. I think we have a very compelling and simple pricing model for both Oracle Linux and Oracle VM. Let me see if I can explain it in 1 page, not 10 pages. This pricing information is publicly available on the Oracle store, I am using the current public list prices. Also keep in mind that this is for customers using non-oracle x86 servers. When a customer purchases an Oracle x86 server, the annual systems support includes full use (all you can eat) of Oracle Linux, Oracle VM and Oracle Solaris (no matter how many VMs you run on that server, in case you deploy guests on a hypervisor). This support level is the equivalent of premier support in the list below. Let's start with Oracle VM (x86) : Oracle VM support subscriptions are per physical server on which you deploy the Oracle VM Server product. (1) Oracle VM Premier Limited - 1- or 2 socket server : $599 per server per year (2) Oracle VM Premier - more than 2 socket server (4, or 8 or whatever more) : $1199 per server per year The above includes the use of Oracle VM Manager and Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control's Virtualization management pack (including self service cloud portal, etc..) 24x7 support, access to bugfixes, updates and new releases.     Is there a native option (ie. without installing extra soft/package/plugins) to enable mouse support in the Terminal app? Actually, I'm using a lot vim with the option set mouse=a (activating mouse features). But it seems that Terminal don't support all xterm's features. It appears (after some googling) that Terminal had once the mouse support, but I wonder where did it go. N.B: I really want mouse support in Terminal, not only for vim, so please, don't suggest MacVim :]

    I feel like an idiot but for the life of me I can't find the answer to this question. Whispernet syncs your reading location across all books right? How do you reset that location? If I want to read a book for the second time if I try to sync to the furthest page read it will push me to the last page because that's the furthest I've read. Am I doomed to only read Kindle books once?
