• Extending struts 2 "property" data tag

  Hi, We are currently developing a project with Struts2. We have a module on which we display a large amount of data on read-only fields from a group of beans via the "property" Struts 2 data tag (i.e. <s:property value="aBeanProperty" /) on a jsp file. In some cases most of the fields might come empty, so a blank is being displayed on screen. Our customer is now requesting us to display default string (i.e. "N/A") whenever a property comes empty, so that it is displayed in place of the blank spaces currently shown. We are looking for a way to achieve this in a clean and maintainable way. The 'property' tag comes with a 'default' attribute on which one can define a default value in cases when the accessed property comes as null. However, most of our properties are empty strings, therefore it does not work in our case. Another solution we are thinking of is to define a base class for all of our beans, and define a util method which will validate if a string is null or empty and then return the default value. Then we would call this method from each bean getter. And yes this would be tiresome and kind of ugly :), therefore we are holding out on this one in case of a better solution. Now, we have in mind a solution which we think would be the best but have not had luck on how implement it. We are planning on extending the 'property' tag some way, defining a new 'default' attribute so that besides working on null properties, it also do so on empty strings ("", " ", etc). Therefore we would only need to replace the original s:property tag with our new custom tag, and the desired result would be achieved without touching java code. Do you have an idea on how to do this? Also, any other clever solution (maybe some sort of design pattern?) on how to default the values of a large amount of property beans are welcome too! (Or maybe, even there might be some tag that does this already in Struts2??) Thanks in advance.

• Why isn't this button firing the anchor tag?

  My idea is to press a button that takes me to a web page. I've created a thing that dynamically creates a button and an anchor tag. When the button is clicked, I want it to "click"/fire up the anchor tag.. I've uploaded a demo to my site, when you try it out just leave everything as it is. Click the first button then the add button right away.. then try to click the dynamically created button. Nothing happens, but if you watch the source you can find an anchor tag with the ID FL1000, I've set it up so that the anchor tag gets the ID from the value of the created button + 1000 just incase I need to use that ID.. Thanks guys... edit: this is optimized for google chrome, haven't tried it out with other browser.

• Compiling NETGEAR WNR2000v3 firmware under 12.04.1 LTS

  I'm trying to compile the GPL NETGEAR firmware for the WNR2000v3 router using Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. I've downloaded and extracted the source, installed everything I think I need, yet there are two build dependencies that I cannot resolve: > make menuconfig .... Build dependency: Please install ncurses. (Missing libncurses.so or ncurses.h) Build dependency: Please install zlib. (Missing libz.so or zlib.h) I've tried apt-getting all of the following packages: libncurses5 libncurses5:i386 libncurses5-dev zlib1g zlib1g-dev zlib1g-dbg The missing libs seem 'real': the target .so files aren't in /usr/lib, although the .h files are in /usr/include. EDIT: some Googling told me of broken or missing symlinks. I found the following: /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.5 -> libncurses.so.5.9 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.5.9 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libncursesw.so.5 -> libncursesw.so.5.9 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libncursesw.so.5.9 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1 -> libz.so.1.2.3.4 /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1.2.3.4 so I tried to symlink these to /usr/lib: /usr/lib/libncurses.so -> /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libncurses.so.5 /usr/lib/libz.so -> /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libz.so.1 but the project still complains about missing libncurses and zlib. EDIT: I was able to get the dependencies to work under 8.04. Need to cross-reference things now. Does anyone have some tips on how to debug this sort of issue?

  I've installed nvidia-current using the Additional Drivers application in Ubuntu 12.04. I need those drivers so I can use accelerated WebGL.   I have been seeing these random logs in syslog on our production system. There is no XFS setup. Fstab only shows local partitions, only EXT3 . There is nothing in crontabs either. Is valgrind a suitable tool for profilinf memory issues when using a complex library like GLib ? LATER EDIT: If I g_slist_foreach(l,(GFunc)g_free,NULL);, the valgrind report is different, (All the memory leaks from 'definitely lost' will move to 'indirectly lost'). Still I don't see the point ? Aren't GLib collections implement a way to be freed ?

  So I'm using Visual C++ 6.0, and trying to compile some source code, but upon compilation I get this: Linking... LINK : fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file "Iphlpapi.lib" Error executing link.exe. I'm using the correct SDK, and the directories are correct. I've checked, double checked, and triple checked. The file is the specified directory. I can't figure out what the problem is. Any ideas? Service Pack 6 SDK for Windows Server 2003 SP1 //Sounds odd, since I'm running XP SP3, but this has worked for me in the past. Like I've said, it worked in the past for me, flawlessly. I don't understand why it won't work now.

• Proper way to set PYTHONPATH (including precedence)

  In .bashrc I have: export PYTHONPATH=/home/wells/py-mlb I've verified this is actually being set. so, in this directory is another directory called 'py_mlb'- the actual module. Uninstalling it and reverting back to nvidia-current didn't solve the problem, so I have been playing with this for a while. It seems glx support is missing, and my intel graphics is not responding. gnome loads only in fallback mode. However I didn't find any obvious link to /lib/nvidia-current in /etc/ld.so.conf (where the directories containing the shared libraries are listed). It seems bumblebee was to blame, but I'm not sure what was going wrong...

• How to link static libs (archives) to an empty dynamic lib with gcc4

  Greetings all! I'm using gcc on linux to create a shared library. The library itself has no code but links to a couple of static libraries(archives) also built using gcc. I need to export the static libs' symbols through my shared library. What happens is that the resulting shared lib is too small and it actually does not contain any of the symbols provided by the static libs mentioned above. I also tried with a map of exported symbols but that did not help at all. Could any of you suggest a solution! 10x in advance

  If I have a notebook with three spreadsheet widgets, what is the best way to have changes to the spreadsheet update a dictionary (or maybe an sqlite file?). Do all wx grid objects come with a built in dictionary related to the SetNumberRows and SetNumberCols? • Ruby gems in lib - spare tire principle

  Hi, I'm working on a console ruby application (not rails!) I will be installing this application on several machines. I was wondering if there is a way i can build it so i dont have to install the games i'm using for the app on each machine. I'd like to be able to just copy the directory to each machine and run it. Ideally, i'd like to put the gems in the lib folder or something and reference them from there, so i don't have to even install them on my dev machine. Is there a way to do this? • How can I change the Python that my Django project is using?

  I have 2 versions installed in my server. I used virtualenv to install Python 2.7. I am using WSGI to deploy my project. WSGIPythonPath /home/ENV/lib/python2.7/site-packages WSGIScriptAlias / /var/www/html/my_project/wsgi.py My http.conf is like that. python -V gives Python 2.7.3 But in my projects Debug window, it says Django is using 2.6.8. Where am I wrong?   I need to use function "image_path" in my lib class. • Bootstrap jquery methods Magento's prototype lib

  Wonder if anyone has had this issue. I've integrated Bootstrap nicely into a Magento theme I'm building, all good. That is, until I try using the accordian functions. There seems to be an issue with the code finding the Prototype Libs Methods instead of jQuery's. I've tried the usual fixes, $ - jQuery and no conflict but it only works when I disable the prototype lib - which obviously is not good. Anyone out there come across this and can advise me on a work round? At the moment I'm resigned to using Scriptaculous for the accordian.

• Looking for python lib to manage remote tasks

  Hi, I have server with django on it, this server runs some manage.py commands and update database. Now I need to move some of this tasks to different servers. I don't want to allow remote db access and need some tool\lib to be able to start task on remote servers by main server's command and update tasks code/add new tasks. I have ssh access to every server, all servers run under debian and all code in python. I was thiking about creating my own xmpp based solution(server sends messages to slave servers with commands to execute, like "update task", "run task"), or maybe some low-level ssh based solution where main server logs to slave servers and executes bash commands. But I would be happy to hear any advices.

  I'm trying to use my Synology DS212 NAS box also act as VPN gateway to my companies VPN. Sadly, they only use Cisco ASA and to complicate stuff even further, we've got to use personal certificates (which is of course more secure, but more complicate to get going…). So I compiled OpenConnect v4.06 from http://www.infradead.org/openconnect/. As a very basic test, I tried to build a connection by manually invoking openconnect, passing along the key and cert files, like so: /lib/ld-linux.so.3 --library-path /opt/lib \ /opt/openconnect/sbin/openconnect \ --certificate=$VPN_CFG/alexander.crt \ --sslkey=$VPN_CFG/alexander.key \ --cafile=$VPN_CFG/Company_VPN_CA.crt \ --user=alexander --verbose <ip>:443 It fails :( Attempting to connect to <ip>:443 Using certificate file $VPN_CFG/alexander.crt Using client certificate '/[email protected]/OU=Company VPN' 5919:error:0D0680A8:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_CHECK_TLEN:wrong tag:tasn_dec.c:1315: Loading private key failed (see above errors) Loading certificate failed.
