  • Error on windows using session from appengine-utilities

    - by fredrik
Hi, I ran across an odd problem while trying to transfer a project to a windows machine. In my project I use a session handler (http://gaeutilities.appspot.com/session) it works fine on my mac but on windows I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\google_appengine\google\appengine\ext\webapp_init_.py", line 510, in call handler.get(*groups) File "C:\Development\Byggmax.Affiliate\bmaffiliate\admin.py", line 29, in get session = Session() File "C:\Development\Byggmax.Affiliate\bmaffiliate\appengine_utilities\sessions.py", line 547, in init self.cookie.load(string_cookie) File "C:\Python26\lib\Cookie.py", line 628, in load for k, v in rawdata.items(): AttributeError: 'unicode' object has no attribute 'items' Anyone familiar with the Session Handler that knows anything of this? All help are welcome! ..fredrik

  • How do you invoke a python script inside a jar file using python ?

    - by Trevor
I'm working on an application that intersperses a bunch of jython and java code. Due to the nature of the program (using wsadmin) we are really restricted to Python 2.1 We currently have a jar containing both java source and .py modules. The code is currently invoked using java, but I'd like to remove this in favor of migrating as much functionality as possible to jython. The problem I have is that I want to either import or execute python modules inside the existing jar file from a calling jython script. I've tried a couple of different ways without success. My directory structure looks like: application.jar |-- com |--example |-- action |-- MyAction.class |-- pre_myAction.py The 1st approach I tried was to do imports from the jar. I added the jar to my sys.path and tried to import the module using both import com.example.action.myAction and import myAction. No success however, even when I put init.py files into the directory at each level. The 2nd approach I tried was to load the resource using the java class. So I wrote the below code: import sys import os import com.example.action.MyAction as MyAction scriptName = str(MyAction.getResource('/com/example/action/myAction.py')) scriptStr = MyAction.getResourceAsStream('/com/example/action/myAction.py') try: print execfile(scriptStr) except: print "failed 1" try: print execfile(scriptName) except: print "failed 2" Both of these failed. I'm at a bit of a loss now as to how I should proceed. Any ideas ? cheers, Trevor

I'm trying to install pylucene on Windows XP. I installed JDK on C:\Programme\Java\jdk1.6.0_18 . I also installed Visual Studio C++ Express to have a C++ compiler. • How can i bundle other files when using cx_freeze?

    - by Mridang Agarwalla
    I'm using Python 2.6 and cx_Freeze 4.1.2 on a Windows system. I've created the setup.py to build my executable and everything works fine. When cx_Freeze runs it movies everything to the build directory. I have some other files that i would like included in my build directory. How can i do this? Here's my structure. src\ setup.py janitor.py README.txt CHNAGELOG.txt helpers\ uncompress\ unRAR.exe unzip.exe Here's my snippet: setup ( name='Janitor', version='1.0', description='Janitor', author='John Doe', author_email='[email protected]', url='http://www.this-page-intentionally-left-blank.org/', data_files = [ ('helpers\uncompress', ['helpers\uncompress\unzip.exe']), ('helpers\uncompress', ['helpers\uncompress\unRAR.exe']), ('', ['README.txt']) ], executables = [ Executable\ ( 'janitor.py', #initScript ) ] ) I can't seem to get this to work. Do i need a MANIFEST.in file? Thank you.

  • Testing warnings with doctest

    - by Eli Courtwright
I'd like to use doctests to test the presence of certain warnings. For example, suppose I have the following module: from warnings import warn class Foo(object): """ Instantiating Foo always gives a warning: >>> foo = Foo() testdocs.py:14: UserWarning: Boo! warn("Boo!", UserWarning) >>> """ def __init__(self): warn("Boo!", UserWarning) If I run python -m doctest testdocs.py to run the doctest in my class and make sure that the warning is printed, I get: testdocs.py:14: UserWarning: Boo! warn("Boo!", UserWarning) ********************************************************************** File "testdocs.py", line 7, in testdocs.Foo Failed example: foo = Foo() Expected: testdocs.py:14: UserWarning: Boo! warn("Boo!", UserWarning) Got nothing ********************************************************************** 1 items had failures: 1 of 1 in testdocs.Foo ***Test Failed*** 1 failures. It looks like the warning is getting printed but not captured or noticed by doctest. I'm guessing that this is because warnings are printed to sys.stderr instead of sys.stdout. But this happens even when I say sys.stderr = sys.stdout at the end of my module. So is there any way to use doctests to test for warnings? I can find no mention of this one way or the other in the documentation or in my Google searching.

Good Day, I am using Python 2.6 and am trying to run a simple random number generator program (random.py): import random for i in range(5): # random float: 0.0 <= number < 1.0 print random.random(), # random float: 10 <= number < 20 print random.uniform(10, 20), # random integer: 100 <= number <= 1000 print random.randint(100, 1000), # random integer: even numbers in 100 <= number < 1000 print random.randrange(100, 1000, 2) I'm now receiving the following error: C:\Users\Developer\Documents\PythonDemo>python random.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "random.py", line 3, in <module> import random File "C:\Users\Developer\Documents\PythonDemo\random.py", line 8, in <module> print random.random(), TypeError: 'module' object is not callable C:\Users\Developer\Documents\PythonDemo> I've looked at the Python docs and this version of Python supports random. Is there something else I'm missing? TIA, coson

  • Correct way to get absolute url in django

    - by dreamiurg
A problem that I stumbled upon recently, and, even though I solved it, I would like to hear your opinion of what correct/simple/adopted solution would be. I'm developing website using Django + python. When I run it on local machine with "python manage.py runserver", local address is http://127.0.0.1:8000/ by default. However, on production server my app has other url, with path - like "http://server.name/myproj/" I need to generate and use permanent urls. If I'm using {% url view params %}, I'm getting paths that are relative to / , since my urls.py contains this urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(\d+)?$', 'myproj.myapp.views.index'), (r'^img/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/img' }), (r'^css/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/css' }), ) So far, I see 2 solutions: modify urls.py, include '/myproj/' in case of production run use request.build_absolute_uri() for creating link in views.py or pass some variable with 'hostname:port/path' in templates Are there prettier ways to deal with this problem? Thank you.

  • Pylons 1.0 AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'metadata'

Python noob trying to learn Pylons. I'm using the QuickWiki tutorial (http://pylonshq.com/docs/en/1.0/tutorials/quickwiki_tutorial/) from the 1.0 documentation, but this alleged "1.0" doc seems to just be "0.9.7"; I suspect that this has something to do with the error I'm getting. • running jython bytecode using java

It looks like I'm missing something. When using Jython to run my Python code in Java, Java bytecode files are generated (test.py - [email protected]). Can I run these classes directly using java? In other words, I want to make this: $ java test@py [additional cp args] work. The intent: writing Python code and not having to give away source code.

  • Django syncdb not making tables for my app

    - by Rosarch
It used to work, and now it doesn't. python manage.py syncdb no longer makes tables for my app. From settings.py: INSTALLED_APPS = ( 'django.contrib.auth', 'django.contrib.contenttypes', 'django.contrib.sessions', 'django.contrib.sites', 'mysite.myapp', 'django.contrib.admin', ) What could I be doing wrong? The break appeared to coincide with editing this model in models.py, but that could be total coincidence. I commented out the lines I changed, and it still doesn't work. class MyUser(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True) takingReqSets = models.ManyToManyField(RequirementSet, blank=True) takingTerms = models.ManyToManyField(Term, blank=True) takingCourses = models.ManyToManyField(Course, through=TakingCourse, blank=True) school = models.ForeignKey(School) # minCreditsPerTerm = models.IntegerField(blank=True) # maxCreditsPerTerm = models.IntegerField(blank=True) # optimalCreditsPerTerm = models.IntegerField(blank=True) UPDATE: When I run python manage.py loadddata initial_data, it gives an error: DeserializationError: Invalid model identifier: myapp.SomeModel Loading this data had worked fine before. • django app organization

    - by iHeartDucks
I have been reading some django tutorial and it seems like all the view functions have to go in a file called "views.py" and all the models go in "models.py". I fear that I might end up with a lot of view functions in my view.py file and the same is the case with models.py. Is my understanding of django apps correct? Django apps lets us separate common functionality into different apps and keep the file size of views and models to a minimum? For example: My project can contain an app for recipes (create, update, view, and search) and a friend app, the comments app, and so on. Can I still move some of my view functions to a different file? So I only have the CRUD in one single file?

Also, the site says to run the following commands: $ mkdir ets $ cd ets # and copy ets.py here $ python ets.py clone Typing those lines in Python Shell gives me the message: "SyntaxError: invalid syntax" As you can see, I'm new to Python, and I don't know what I'm doing. How do I get setuptool to copy over the init.py file when using --install-lib and --prefix? Thanks Sam

The error occurs after waiting for about one and a half minutes. import smtplib FROMADDR = "FROM_EMAIL" LOGIN = "USERNAME" PASSWORD = "PASSWORD" TOADDRS = ["TO_EMAIL"] SUBJECT = "Test" msg = ("From: %s\r\nTo: %s\r\nSubject: %s\r\n\r\n" % (FROMADDR, ", ".join(TOADDRS), SUBJECT) ) msg += "some text\r\n" server = smtplib.SMTP('OUTGOING_SMTP', 587) server.set_debuglevel(1) server.ehlo() server.starttls() server.login(LOGIN, PASSWORD) server.sendmail(FROMADDR, TOADDRS, msg) server.quit() And here's the error I get: Traceback (most recent call last): File "emailer.py", line 13, in server = smtplib.SMTP('OUTGOING_SMTP', 587) File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/smtplib.py", line 239, in init (code, msg) = self.connect(host, port) File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/smtplib.py", line 295, in connect self.sock = self._get_socket(host, port, self.timeout) File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/smtplib.py", line 273, in _get_socket return socket.create_connection((port, host), timeout) File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.6/lib/python2.6/socket.py", line 514, in create_connection raise error, msg socket.error: [Errno 60] Operation timed out

  • Rationale behind Python's preferred for syntax

    - by susmits
What is the rationale behind the advocated use of the for i in xrange(...)-style looping constructs in Python? For simple integer looping, the difference in overheads is substantial. I conducted a simple test using two pieces of code: File idiomatic.py: #!/usr/bin/env python M = 10000 N = 10000 if __name__ == "__main__": x, y = 0, 0 for x in xrange(N): for y in xrange(M): pass File cstyle.py: #!/usr/bin/env python M = 10000 N = 10000 if __name__ == "__main__": x, y = 0, 0 while x < N: while y < M: y += 1 x += 1 Profiling results were as follows: bash-3.1$ time python cstyle.py real 0m0.109s user 0m0.015s sys 0m0.000s bash-3.1$ time python idiomatic.py real 0m4.492s user 0m0.000s sys 0m0.031s I can understand why the Pythonic version is slower -- I imagine it has a lot to do with calling xrange N times, perhaps this could be eliminated if there was a way to rewind a generator. However, with this deal of difference in execution time, why would one prefer to use the Pythonic version?
