    Hey guys, while surfing through the web and through stackoverflow.com i found many posts in forums, etc. where this message occures in IE but not in the other browsers. the thing is, the resolutions vary widely and it's not clear for me what's the best way to avoid this problem.   • How to tell which port a USB device is plugged into?

    My c# app must manage multiple USB devices which are the identical product from the same manufacturer. If the user plugs 3 of my devices in, and then unplugs one of them, I need to know which of the 3 devices was unplugged. However, when I register the devices and receive the WM_DEVICECHANGE notifications, the data returned from the DBT_DEVTYP_DEVICEINTERFACE is identical for each of the devices. If I could get the USB port info when the devices arrive or are removed it would solve my problem, but I can't find a way to do this. Any suggestions?

  • How can I tell what is using the memory when there is a heap overflow in Java?

    Hi all, I know a little about profiling, but what I am particularlly insterest in, is what has all the memory when I get these heap over flow exceptions. I will start getting them after about a hour of debugging. I am hoping there is some sort of dump or something, that I can use to get a list of what instances are around at the time the program starts. By the way, sorry if this is a lazy question. I really shoud put sometime in learning about profiling. Grae

  • How to tell the difference between a VBscript is run from command line or by clicking it in a window?

    All I want to do is differentiate between the program being run by the command line or by clicking the test.vbs file in a window. If you run the script by typing C:\testFolder\test.vbs in a command prompt, then I want the program to run differently than if you double clicked test.vbs in the testFolder. Is there some system variable that I can use to differentiate between the two scenarios? I first attempted to use WScript.Fullname to determine if the pathname ended in cscript or wscript. But that didn't work so well. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

When I step in to trace the problem, I found out that when I do the _session.flush() right after _session.delete(), it throws the exception, and if I look at the sql it does, it is actually submitting a "INSERT INTO" statement, which is exactly the sql that cause UNIQUE CONSTRAINT error. I tried to encapsulate both in transaction but still same problem happens. Anyone know the reason?

  • Loadbalance UDP traffic with session affinity and way to take servers in & out of rotation

    What is the best way to go about load balancing UDP traffic among a whole bunch of servers, while keeping session affinity based on the users' IP? I need to also be able to take servers in and out of rotation for new clients, so when they join for the first time, they get put on a server in a list of available servers, and clients already connected would stay connected to their specific server. I have written the software to maintain a list, but I can't seem to find anything that would perform this functionality. If you need the context, this is to facilitate game tournaments for Minecraft: Pocket Edition, which is done with UDP traffic, I cannot change the protocol. And, because tournaments open and close, I need to be able to place players on their proper servers. Performance is also a priority, I have a program to do this but it is very bloated and slow. Before its fine i can ping google.co.uk after cant get out. Is there something wrong in my syntax here or what is the issue...? Im just trying to NAT my VPN so i can get internet access. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks William

  • Xubuntu and other Debian based distros slow

    I have a Compaq Presario SR1950NX desktop computer with the AMD64 3800+ processor and 1GB ram and it seems that Ubunutu, Xubuntu and Lubuntu are all laggy. Things seem to be slow such as clicking on menus and opening programs and the UI renders in peices. When using the browser the system slows down considerably. I ran the TOP command and I do notice that xorg hits 30 to 40 percent cpu when running the browsers. I have tried these distros on a spare P4 machine and it is even worse. As long as I don't have a several things open at one time I can manage to get around although sluggishly. I also notice that I can't get debian based distros to install in 64bit (crtc6 failure) only in 32bit. Can anyone tell me what is it that I might be doing wrong? I have an integrated Nvidia card and have tried several of the recommended drivers which sometimes result in no boot screen upon reboot. Thanks

  • Can aynone tell me what exactly 32bit/64bit and x86 and AMD64 have to do with the different choices on the download site of Ubuntu?

    SORRY for the newbie question, but I am still learning. I am wondering if x86 simply refers to the intel CPUs and AMD64 simply refers to the AMD CPUs? While....32bit and 64bit to the processor types? I was trying to download the intel 64bit version of the Ubuntu installer, but it wont give the option of x86 and AMD64....only the 32bit and 64bit can be chosen. Does this mean that someone with an Intel CPU and another person with an AMD CPU will download the same install file? (obviously depending on the bit version of their CPUs this might differ....but that's another thing).

  • I've changed my URL schema. How do I tell Google to index the new schema and forget the old one?

    I had a site where the urls were constructed like this /index.php/Topic /index.php/AnotherTopic These were indexed in google, and search results returned that pointed to these. However, I've recently replatformed that site, and reconfigured it so the above urls would be: /index.php?title=Topic /index.php?title=AnotherTopic The original urls are returning 404s. The site is linking to the correct URL schema internally, but Google is retaining the original schema in its search results. I've updated and resubmitted the sitemap which only contains the new schema. Also, Google's webmasters tool is going slightly bananas at the fact there's now a spike in 404 errors in its crawl results. What would be the best approach to get Google to 'forget' about the old schema, and instead index the new schema? Should I try blocking /index.php/ in robots.txt? Should I be returning 301 codes instead of 404 for the original urls?

  • Turned off my computer and o it's opened up in grub. How do I tell it to boot into lubuntu?

    It's just a commandline. I have tried my usual trick of sticking a usb with lubuntu in there to see if I can boot from my usb but I get a boot error (I normally wouldn't using that usb). GNU grub version 2.00-7ubuntu11 also just using basic things I know I hits ls then tried boot hd0 but it says: you need to load the kernel first I have no idea how to do this. I looked at the commands and most of them hve obscure names that are not helpful. UPDATE: I hit exit and that allowed be to boot from usb. Hopefully I will be able to find what I need to install to get it booting normally again from there.

    This isn't really a question, but a request for feedback. RPS (Rock, Paper, Scissors) RTS (Real Time Strategy) Demo version is out: The game is simple. It is an RTS. Why has it been made? Many if not most RTS’s are about economy and large numbers of unit types. The genre hasn’t actually developed the gameplay drastically from the very first RTS’s produced, some lesson have been learned, but the games are really very similar to how they have always been. RPS brings new gameplay to the RTS genre. Through three means: • New combat mechanics: RPS has two unique modes (as well as the old favourite) of resolving weapon fire. These change how combat happens, and make application of the correct units vital to success. From this comes the requirement to run Intel on your enemies. • Fixed Resource Economy: Each player has a fixed amount of energy, This means that there is a definite end to the game. You can attrition your enemy and try to outlast them, or try to outspend your opponent and destroy them. There is a limit to how fast ships can be built, through the generation of construction blocks, but energy is the fast limit on economy. • Game Modes: Game modes add victory conditions and new game pieces. The game is overseen by a controller which literally runs the game. Games are no longer line them up, gun them down. This means that new tactics must be played making skirmish games fresh with novel tactics without adding huge amounts of new game units to learn. I’ve produced RPS from the ground. I will be running a kickstarter in the near future, but right now I want feedback and input from the game developing community. Regarding the concepts, where RPS is going, the game modes, the combat mechanics. How it plays. RPS will give fresh gameplay to the genre so it must be right.     A recent TechTarget article features an interview with Business Architecture expert William Ulrich (Take a business-driven approach to application modernization ). In that article Ulrich offers this advice: "Moving from one technical architecture might be perfectly viable on a project by project basis, but when you're looking at the big picture and you want to really understand how to drive business value so that the business is pushing money into IT instead of IT pulling money back, you have to understand the business architecture. When we do that we're going to really be able to start bringing value to the table." In many respects that big picture view is what software architecture is all about. As an architect, your technical skills must be top-notch. But if you don't apply that technical knowledge within the larger context of moving the business forward, what are you accomplishing?     So, I am new to Applescript editor and I am trying to write code to automatically update computers. For some odd reason I can not seem to get Adobe to update successfully. I tried using Accessibility Inspector, but nothing appeared like AXButton So is there even a way of writing code for Adobe when there is not an AXButton option?
