• What is the best way to detect Copy (Ctrl+C) event in an IWpfTextView?

  I am trying to detect a copy event in the text view and I have been researching the best way to do this. Is it to possibly hook into the StandardCommand Copy event somehow and detect it that way? Or is it possible to use the KeyProcessor(and simply detect Ctrl+C keypresses)? My extension is currently implementing the IWpfTextViewCreationListener; is there a way to somehow get access to the KeyProcessor or StandardCommand from the IWpfTextView that the listener is passing to me? If so, can you post a code sample that demonstrates this? Thanks, Nick

  My project allows users to create custom css for our flex app. In regards to compiling the CSS into SWFs on the server side: Should I use the flex2.compiler.css.Compiler class in mxmlc-3.5.0.12683.jar? Or Should I invoke mxmlc from Runtime.getRuntime().exec()? The css.Compiler class is not very well documented. Does anyone have any examples that use this? For the Runtime exec method, what is the best way to package mxmlc into the maven build so its available to the server at runtime?

  My client has multiple companies; different names/logos etc, but all the content on the sites are identical with the exception of said names/logos. In a ColdFusion environment, what would be the best way for me to serve up identical content and swap out the logos/company names on the fly so I can keep everything in one spot? Is this a jQuery solution? regex? Or will ColdFusion enable me to deploy this in an efficient manner based on the url and session variables?

  There are a lot of settings that can be used in H2 database. AUTO_SERVER, MVCC, LOCK_MODE, FILE_LOCK and MULTI_THREADED. I wonder what combination works best for high concurrency setup e.g. one thread is doing INSERTs and another connection does some UPDATEs and SELECTs? I tried MVCC=TRUE;LOCK_MODE=3lFILE_LOCK=NO but whenever I do some UPDATEs in one connection, the other connection does not see it even though I commit it. By the way the connections are from different processes e.g. separate program.

• What's the best way to handle web.config file versions in ASP.Net?

  I have an ASP.Net web site (ASPX and ASMX pages) with a single web.config file. We have a development version and a production version. Over time, the web.config files for development and production have diverged substantially. What is the best practice for keeping both versions of web.config in source control (we use Tortoise SVN but I don't think that matters)? It seems like I could add the production web.config file with a name like "web.config.prod", and then when we turnover all the files we would just add the step of deleting the existing web.config and renaming web.config.prod to web.config. This seems hackish, although I'm sure it would work. Is there not some mechanism for dealing with this built in to Visual Studio? It seems like this would be a common issue, but I haven't found any questions (with answers) about this.

  What, in your opinion, is the best API to utilize in developing an application that handles both realtime MIDI and audio input and output? This would be for an application that is used in the process of making music as opposed to playing audio or MIDI files. I'm aware that this may be a subjective question, but if you know of an API that is dominantly used for these purposes, please share it. I'm agnostic about which language the API is for, and I also don't care about portability. The real concern is for an API that is well documented, well designed (e.g. thought out and intuitive to developers using it), and actively maintained. OS portability would be nice, but it is second to having an API/Language that meets the previous requirements. Please note that the emphasis is not on API's for sound synthesis or for composing music with code. It is intended for the handling of sound file and MIDI data in a real-time context.

  StackOverflow is telling me this is a subjective question, but I think it's a matter of fact! I have a number of scripts that I'm using on different parts of my site. In terms of making fewer http requests, I know it's better to combine all of these scripts into one .js file. However, isn't a waste of time for a page to call a .js full of 10 or 15 different functions when it's only using one? At the moment I'm doing: ps -C script.name.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 || ./script.name.sh but it has several issues: it puts the check outside of script it doesn't let me run the same script from separate accounts - which I would like sometimes. -C checks only first 14 characters of process name Of course I can write my own pidfile handling, but I sense that there should be some simple way to do it.

  Background I'm working on a symmetric rounding class and I find that I'm stuck with regards to how to best find the number at position x that I will be rounding. I'm sure there is an efficient mathematical way to find the single digit and return it without having to resort to string parsing. Problem Suppose, I have the following (C#) psuedo-code: var position = 3; var value = 102.43587m; // I want this no ? (that is 5) protected static int FindNDigit(decimal value, int position) { // This snippet is what I am searching for } Also, it is worth noting that if my value is a whole number, I will need to return a zero for the result of FindNDigit.   I'm learning how to code in Java after after coming from C. In C I always separated everything into individual functions to make the code easier to follow and edit. I was trying to do this in java but now since I realized that you can't use pointers, I am a bit confused as to what the best way to do this is. So for example I want to have a method that creates four alerts for me. So I pass it an alert builder that can then create the alerts. I can return them in an array, but in my code I already have the alerts individually named, and I would like to keep it that way so I wouldn't need to refer to them as alert[1], alert[2]... etc. So that means I would have to rename them, which would add additional code which would probably be longer than the code in the actual method! Am I thinking about this the right way? Is there anything I can do?

  Which is the best API to use when accessing a WebCam in .Net? (I know they can be webcam specific, I am willing to buy a new webcam if it means better results). I want to write a desktop application that will take video from a webcam and store it in MPEG4 formats (DivX, Xvid, etc...). I would also like to access bitmap stills from the device so I can do image comparison between frames. I have tried various libraries, and none have really been a great fit (some have performance issues (very inconsistent framerates), some have image quality limitations, some just crash out for seemingly no reason. I want to get high quality video (as high as I can get) and a decent framerate. My webcam is more than up to the job and I was hoping that there would be a nice Managed .Net library around that would help my cause. Are webcam APIs all just incredibly bad?

  We have a Scala project and we decided to use git. The problem is we are a very small distributed team and we want nobody outside of the team to have even the read only access to our git server (which has a valid IP and is world-accessible in the IP level). I have heard the git-daemon has no authentication mechanism by itself and you should somehow integrate it with ssh or something. What is the best (and easiest) way to make the git server respond only to authorized users ? Or perhaps git-daemon is not for this task ? I may add that I am looking for a simple and straightforward approach. I don't want to compete with github ;-)

For example, lakelandhills, a child site, would be arboroaks.net/lakelandhills. I have the full domain, arboroaksatlakelandhills.com redirect to this url (arboroaks.net/lakelandhills). My question is whether I should have the child sites be contained on their own domain or not. Think lakelandhillsatarboroaks.com/about-us.php verse arboroaks.net/lakelandhills/about-us.php. It seems likely you could just do a check specifically for the new Mac Book Pro "Retina" hardware (the only Mac at this time which currently has a retina display), but ideally, I'd really prefer a more general/generic/future-proof way to check than this.   If I'm inserting content into a textarea that TinyMCE has co-opted, what's the best way to set the position of the cursor/caret? I'm using tinyMCE.execCommand("mceInsertRawHTML", false, content); to insert the content, and I'd like set the cursor position to the end of the content. Both document.selection and myField.selectionStart won't work for this, and I feel as though this is going to be supported by TinyMCE (through something I can't find on their forum) or it's going to be a really ugly hack. Later: It gets better; I just figured out that, when you load TinyMCE in WordPress, it loads the entire editor in an embedded iframe. Later (2): I can use document.getElementById('content_ifr').contentDocument.getSelection(); to get the selection as a string, but not a Selection Object that I can use getRangeAt(0) on.   I've got a string representation of a time, like "11:13 AM." This was produced using an NSDateFormatter and the stringFromDate: method. I'd like to compare this time to the current time, but when I use the dateFromString: method to turn the string back into a date, a year, month and day are added - which I don't want. I just need to know if right now is < or the time stored in the string. What's going to be the best way to handle that? Thanks in advance for your help.

For photos/videos the actual photo/video + even encrypting the URL with the IDs to the photo/videos so other users cannot figure it out. Creating a site like myspace and designing retirement documents but i am unsure how to specify the security requirements for the database. Two things: 1) Protect from outside users 2) Protect all these from employees being able to access this info For #2, the additional question is: If we encrypt the user info and password so even the system admins cannot get in, how can we retrieve the user data tomorrow if someone flags the user's account as spam and admin needs to check it out or if law enforcement wants info on a user? The use of document.write requires that the document be open, implying that the page hasn't reached document.complete. This gets in the way of deferring or lazy loading ad content. Putting such code at page bottom is helpful but doesn't do enough to lower all-important "page-loaded" time. Are "friendly iframes" the best we have? Is there any other alternative such as a clever way to override document.write?
