  • How to stop the Bottle webserver when started from subprocess

    - by luc
Hello all, I would like to embed the great Bottle web framework into a small application (1st target is Windows OS). This app starts the bottle webserver thanks to the subprocess module. import subprocess p = subprocess.Popen('python websrv.py') The bottle app is quite simple @route("/") def index(): return template('index') run(reloader=True) It starts the default webserver into a Windows console. All seems Ok except the fact that I must press Ctrl-C to close the bottle webserver. I would like that the master app terminates the webserver when it shutdowns. I can't find a way to do that (p.terminate() doesn't work in this case unfortunately) Any idea? Thanks in advance

  • Code golf: the Mandelbrot set

    - by Stefano Borini
    Usual rules for the code golf. Here is an implementation in python as an example from PIL import Image im = Image.new("RGB", (300,300)) for i in xrange(300): print "i = ",i for j in xrange(300): x0 = float( 4.0*float(i-150)/300.0 -1.0) y0 = float( 4.0*float(j-150)/300.0 +0.0) x=0.0 y=0.0 iteration = 0 max_iteration = 1000 while (x*x + y*y <= 4.0 and iteration < max_iteration): xtemp = x*x - y*y + x0 y = 2.0*x*y+y0 x = xtemp iteration += 1 if iteration == max_iteration: value = 255 else: value = iteration*10 % 255 print value im.putpixel( (i,j), (value, value, value)) im.save("image.png", "PNG") The result should look like this Use of an image library is allowed. Alternatively, you can use ASCII art. This code does the same for i in xrange(40): line = [] for j in xrange(80): x0 = float( 4.0*float(i-20)/40.0 -1.0) y0 = float( 4.0*float(j-40)/80.0 +0.0) x=0.0 y=0.0 iteration = 0 max_iteration = 1000 while (x*x + y*y <= 4.0 and iteration < max_iteration): xtemp = x*x - y*y + x0 y = 2.0*x*y+y0 x = xtemp iteration += 1 if iteration == max_iteration: line.append(" ") else: line.append("*") print "".join(line) The result ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** **************************************** *************************************** *************************************** ************************************** ************************************* ************************************ ************************************ *********************************** *********************************** ********************************** ************************************ *********************************** ************************************* ************************************ *********************************** ********************************** ******************************** ******************************* **************************** *************************** ***************************** **************************** **************************** *************************** ************************ * * *********************** *********************** * * ********************** ******************** ******* ******* ******************* **************************** *************************** ****************************** ***************************** ***************************** * * * **************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ******************************************************************************** ********************************************************************************

  • Why wouldn't a flex remoteobject work within a custom component?

    - by Gary
Please enlighten this flex noob. I have a remoteobject within my main.mxml. I can call a function on the service from an init() function on my main.mxml, and my java debugger triggers a breakpoint. When I move the remoteobject declaration and function call into a custom component (that is declared within main.mxml), the remote function on java-side no longer gets called, no breakpoints triggered, no errors, silence. How could this be? No spelling errors, or anything like that. mxml code: &ltmx:RemoteObject id="myService" destination="remoteService" endpoint="$(Application.application.home}/messagebroker/amf" &gt &lt/mx:RemoteObject%gt function call is just 'myService.getlist();' when I move it to a custom component, I import mx.core.Application; so the compiler doesn't yell

  • Detect if a table contains a column in Android/sqlite

    - by sandis
So I have an app on the market, and with an update I want to add some columns to the database. No problems so far. But I want to detect if the database in use is missing these columns, and add them if this is the case. I need this to be done dynamically and not just after the update to the new version, because the application is supposed to still be able to import older databases. Normally I would be able to use the PRAGMA query, but Im not sure how to do this with Android. I cant use execSQL since it is a query, and I cant figure out how to use PRAGMA with the query()-function. Ofcourse I could just catch exceptions and then add the column, or always add the columns to each table before I start to work with it, but that is not a neat solution. Cheers,

I'm a Python newbie. How come this doesn't work in Python 3.1? from string import maketrans # Required to call maketrans function. intab = "aeiou" outtab = "12345" trantab = maketrans(intab, outtab) str = "this is string example....wow!!!"; print str.translate(trantab); When I executed the above code, I get the following instead: Traceback (most recent call last): File "<pyshell#119>", line 1, in <module> transtab = maketrans(intab, outtab) File "/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/3.1/lib/python3.1/string.py", line 60, in maketrans raise TypeError("maketrans arguments must be bytes objects") TypeError: maketrans arguments must be bytes objects What does "must be bytes objects" mean? Could anyone please help post a working code for Python 3.1 if it's possible?

  • Haskell typeclass

    - by Geoff
I have a Haskell typeclass question. I can't munge the syntax to get this (seemingly reasonable) program to compile under GHC. import Control.Concurrent.MVar blah1 :: [a] -> IO ([a]) blah1 = return blah2 :: [a] -> IO (MVar [a]) blah2 = newMVar class Blah b where blah :: [a] -> IO (b a) instance Blah [] where blah = blah1 -- BOOM instance Blah (MVar []) where blah = blah2 main :: IO () main = do putStrLn "Ok" I get the following error message, which kind of makes sense, but I don't know how to fix it: `[]' is not applied to enough type arguments Expected kind `*', but `[]' has kind `* -> *' In the type `MVar []' In the instance declaration for `Blah (MVar [])'

  • Scala: working around the "illegal cyclic reference"

    - by Paul Milovanov
Hi all, I'm trying to implement a HashMap-based tree that'd support O(1) subtree lookup for a given root key. To that goal, I'm trying to do the following: scala> type Q = HashMap[Char, Q] <console>:6: error: illegal cyclic reference involving type Q type Q = HashMap[Char, Q] ^ So the question is, is there a way for me to do something of the sort without resorting to the ugly HashMap[Char, Any] with subsequent casting of values to HashMap[Char, Any]? Now, I also see that I can use something like the following to avoid the cyclic-reference error, and it might even be cleaner -- but it'd be nice to find out how to correctly do it the first way, just for the educational value. import collections.mutable.HashMap class LTree { val children = new HashMap[Char, LTree] } Thanks a bunch.

  • Actionscript 3 reflection class questions

    - by VPDD
I found this reflection class: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/reflect_class_as3.html However, I have some questions about it. Let´s say I have a moviclip named “ref_mc”, to add a reflection I use: import com.pixelfumes.reflect.*; var r1:Reflect = new Reflect({mc:ref_mc, alpha:50, ratio:50, distance:0, updateTime:0, reflectionDropoff:1}); Now, the questions: 1) How do I update the parameters for the reflection r1 after it is created? 2) Is there a way to check whether the movieclip “ref_mc” already has a reflection? 3) Anyone has the .fla for the example with bars adjustments and code sample shown on the page (it is not on the download .zip)? Thanks in advance.

  • How do I find out what the windows constants like WM_MOUSEMOVE and WM_MOUSEDOWN are if I'm using C#?

    - by Siracuse
I'm writing some code that uses some unmanaged calls into user32 functions such as SetWindowsHookEx, etc. This requires me to use lots of constants that I'm not sure what their value is. For example, if I want to set the hook as a low-level mouse hook I need to know that WM_MOUSE_LL = 14. Where can I look these up? I need to know what WM_MOUSEMOVE, WM_MOUSEDOWN, and more are. When I'm dealing with interop code, what is the easiest way for me to find these? Is it possible for me to import them into C# so they will be defined?

  • Cannot connect to *.dbf file through JDBC drivers

    - by leodali
i'm trying to connect to *.dbf (dBase III) file on my Java application, running on a Windows Server 2003 system. I'm encountering this error and I cannot really understand the meaning (sources for OdbcJdbc.java seems to be unavailable): [Microsoft][ODBC dBase driver] '(unknown)' is not a valid path error Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"); String database = "jdbc:odbc:DRIVER={Microsoft dBase Driver(*.dbf)};DBQ=D:\\dbNeri\\CARISTAT;"; Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection(database); Statement s = conn.createStatement(); String selTable = "SELECT * FROM CARISTAT"; Does it exists a JDBC driver able to connect to dBase files or do I have to import external libraries to do the magic? Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Data validate tools (ETL tools) for SQL server

    - by Stan
I have some data in Excel and need to import into database. Is there any tool that can validate and maybe clean the data? Does Red Gate have such tool? The input will be Excel. Given table constraints, eg. CHECK, UNIQUE KEY, datetime format, NOT NULL. Desire output should be as least shows which lines are having problems, and then fix some trivial error automatically, like fill in default value for NULL columns, automatically correct datetime format. I know using Python can build such a script. But just wonder what's the popular way to do this. Thanks.

  • Fastest way to list all primes below N in python

    - by jbochi
This is the best algorithm I could come up with after struggling with a couple of Project Euler's questions. def get_primes(n): numbers = set(range(n, 1, -1)) primes = [] while numbers: p = numbers.pop() primes.append(p) numbers.difference_update(set(range(p*2, n+1, p))) return primes >>> timeit.Timer(stmt='get_primes.get_primes(1000000)', setup='import get_primes').timeit(1) 1.1499958793645562 Can it be made even faster? EDIT: This code has a flaw: Since numbers is an unordered set, there is no guarantee that numbers.pop() will remove the lowest number from the set. Nevertheless, it works (at least for me) for some input numbers: >>> sum(get_primes(2000000)) 142913828922L #That's the correct sum of all numbers below 2 million >>> 529 in get_primes(1000) False >>> 529 in get_primes(530) True EDIT: The rank so far (pure python, no external sources, all primes below 1 million): Sundaram's Sieve implementation by myself: 327ms Daniel's Sieve: 435ms Alex's recipe from Cookbok: 710ms EDIT: ~unutbu is leading the race.

  • Trying to Nullify Django model fields with method where model and fields are parameters

    - by Johnny4000
I'm trying to write a method like the below where a list of fields (a subset of all the fields) is passed in as a parameter and has their column values set to null. I would be happy of I could get a method with just the fields as a parameter like below, but having the model as a parameter would be even better. from my_project.my_app.models import MyModel def nullify_columns (self, null_fields): field_names = MyModel._meta.get_all_field_names() for field in field_names: if field in null_fields: # The below line does not work because I'm not sure how to # dynamically assign the field name. MyModel.objects.all().update( (MyModel.get_field(field).column) = None) Right now I have something like if 'column1' in list_of_fields: MyModel.objects.all().update(column1 = None) if 'column2' in list_of_fields: MyModel.objects.all().update(column2 = None) etc. which is horrible, but works.

  • What software do you use for letter templating and printing?

    - by Pratik
In our LOB application there is a very important use case of printing letters, which are then printed and posted out from a mail house (thousands per day). The current situation is that the letter templates are created in Word 97 and fields are mail merged from values in database using a VB.Net application that basically uses word automation. But depending on Word 97 is not a good idea today. We only have a couple of PCs that have Word 97 installed as rest of the company has moved to Office 2007. What software or technology (compatible with .Net) is available today that best suits this scenario. Is it better to do the same thing but move to Word 2007 or PDF or something else. Price may not be a factor. The important thing is that the letter templates must be designed by business users and data to fill placeholders come from DB. A bonus would be to import the hundreds of existing Word 97 letter templates without rewriting them from scratch.

I want to use it for my Android application. I don't know how to: Import/Install/Attach/Upload db4o to Android phone. Where should I put the JAR file db4o-7.12.132.14217-all-java5.jar so that it was uploaded to Android phone and it could be called from the application? Please kindly advise! Many thanks!!!

  • weakref list in python

    - by Dan
I'm in need of a list of weak references that deletes items when they die. Currently the only way I have of doing this is to keep flushing the list (removing dead references manually). I'm aware there's a WeakKeyDictionary and a WeakValueDictionary, but I'm really after a WeakList, is there a way of doing this? Here's an example: import weakref class A(object): def __init__(self): pass class B(object): def __init__(self): self._references = [] def addReference(self, obj): self._references.append(weakref.ref(obj)) def flush(self): toRemove = [] for ref in self._references: if ref() is None: toRemove.append(ref) for item in toRemove: self._references.remove(item) b = B() a1 = A() b.addReference(a1) a2 = A() b.addReference(a2) del a1 b.flush() del a2 b.flush()

  • How to log python exception ?

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hi, Coming from java, being familiar with logback I used to do try { ... catch (Exception e) { log("Error at X", e); } I would like the same functionality of being able to log the exception and the stacktrace into a file. How would you recommend me implementing this? Currently using boto logging infrastructre, boto.log.info(...) I've looked at some options and found out I can access the actual exception details using this code: import sys try: 1/0 except: exc_type, exc_value, exc_traceback = sys.exc_info() traceback.print_exception(exc_type, exc_value, exc_traceback) I would like to somehow get the string print_exception() throws to stdout so that I can log it. Thank you, Maxim.

  • Scapy PcapReader and packets time

I'm reading a PCAP file using Scapy using a script such as the (semplified) following one: #! /usr/bin/env python from scapy.all import * # ... myreader = PcapReader(myinputfile) for p in myreader: pkt = p.payload print pkt.time In this case the packets time is not relative to PCAP capture time, but starts from the instant I've launched my script. I'd like to start from 0.0 or to be relative to the PCAP capture. How can I fix it (possibly without "manually" retrieving the first packet time and repeatedly using math to fix the problem)?

    Like many people I'm interested on Objective - C and Cocoa programming. I know conceptually what a delegate it is but I don't understand how to use them or when to use them. Here is some example code: #import "AppControler.h" @implementation AppControler -(id)init { [super init]; NSLog(@"init"); speechSynth = [[NSSpeechSynthesizer alloc] initWithVoice:nil]; // [speechSynth setDelegate:self]; voiceList = [[/Applications/Google Chrome.app availableVoices] retain]; return self; } I'm setting the AppControler to be the delegate of the speechSynthasizer. Which means that the speechSynthasizer is telling hte AppControler what to do. But I don't understand this line: [speechSynth setDelegate:self];
