• Modifing settings in Django

  I'm trying to get Django's manage.py to run with modified settings files. I have three settings files settings.py preview.py live.py settings.py contains my base settings but on live & preview sites I point the ['DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE'] to live or preview which in turn load the base file and any settings specific to that environment. This works fine, until I try to run migrations using manage.py I updated the manage.py file to import settings.preview but now when I try to run syncdb or migrate I get this error: django.core.exceptions.ImproperlyConfigured: You haven't set the DATABASE_ENGINE setting yet. My settings file has this in it though: DATABASE_ENGINE = 'mysql' How can I get this to work?

  Hi Everyone, My environment: Windows 2003, VS 2008, .NET 3.5 C# .NET application. During loading my application I call method from C++ dll (Knowl.dll) through my third-party dll library (Common.dll) written in C#. After first deploy (from VS to Developing server) evrything works fine. Then I stops Developing Server, doesn't any changes in code and redeploy. Throws AccessViolationException on this imported method. What is it? On second and after redeplies - the same error. Only after deletin source code and recheckout it from CVS I can normally start server. • weakref list in python

  I'm in need of a list of weak references that deletes items when they die. Currently the only way I have of doing this is to keep flushing the list (removing dead references manually). I'm aware there's a WeakKeyDictionary and a WeakValueDictionary, but I'm really after a WeakList, is there a way of doing this? • Python string manipulation

  I'm trying to split a string into a int list for further processing. But somehow I can't remove certain whitespaces in between elements of the list. The string x is supposed to have a length of 1000 instead of 1019. I tried reading the documentation for python and saw the function strip() for stripping whitespaces from strings. However, it only works for trailing and leading whitespaces. How should I go about removing these whitespaces and also how do I convert a str list to a int list? • cvs to mercurial conversion gets tags wrong

  I've tried all the recommended conversion techniques Mostly they manage to get the latest version of the files right, but every one of them trashes my history. Many (most?) of the tags from my cvs project have at least one file in error when I run "hg up $tag" My cvs repo is not all that complicated. Why can't anything convert it? I'd like to dump cvs and convert to mercurial, but not without history. To recap my frustration: I tried hg convert (tried --branchsort,--timesort, fuzz=0) I tried cvs2svn and then hg convert. tailor does not work with recent versions of mercurial fromcvs disappeared from the face of the earth hg-cvs-import has been abandoned for 4 years and doesn't work with recent versions of hg I have tried using the two most recent versions of mercurial ( 1.5 and 1.5.1 ).

  I'm working on a data import feature and I've been able to load an excel sheet into a DataTable using Ado.NET with the MSJet db engine. I created a simple one-to-one mapping dialog, in which the user drags column headings from their spreadsheet to a list of object properties. What's stumping me is how to turn each DataRow into a business object. Is there an easy way to do this? If there is a better way than using a DataTable as a middleman I'm open to suggestion? I use NHibernate extensively through out the rest of my program but I couldn't find any attempts to map to an excel spreadsheet. I went with a DataTable because the technique was well documented.

  I use TiddlyWiki for work-notes. I already have pretty large wiki, but now I want to add math-support. As far as I understand what is written here, all I would have to do to use ASCIIMathML in my wiki would be including the script ASCIIMathML.js. Doesn't work (no effect at all). Then I found this plugin for TiddlyWiki, but when I import it to my wiki, it gives me an error in one of the regexp strings. When I download that wiki directly, ASCIIMath does not work anymore, even though I have the script in the same directory. Does anyone have a solution available, how I can add ASCIIMath to my existing TiddlyWiki?

  I'm writing some code that uses some unmanaged calls into user32 functions such as SetWindowsHookEx, etc. This requires me to use lots of constants that I'm not sure what their value is. For example, if I want to set the hook as a low-level mouse hook I need to know that WM_MOUSE_LL = 14. Where can I look these up? I need to know what WM_MOUSEMOVE, WM_MOUSEDOWN, and more are. When I'm dealing with interop code, what is the easiest way for me to find these? Is it possible for me to import them into C# so they will be defined?

• What software do you use for letter templating and printing?

  In our LOB application there is a very important use case of printing letters, which are then printed and posted out from a mail house (thousands per day). The current situation is that the letter templates are created in Word 97 and fields are mail merged from values in database using a VB.Net application that basically uses word automation. But depending on Word 97 is not a good idea today. We only have a couple of PCs that have Word 97 installed as rest of the company has moved to Office 2007. What software or technology (compatible with .Net) is available today that best suits this scenario. Is it better to do the same thing but move to Word 2007 or PDF or something else. Price may not be a factor. The important thing is that the letter templates must be designed by business users and data to fill placeholders come from DB. A bonus would be to import the hundreds of existing Word 97 letter templates without rewriting them from scratch.
