When I am in the office, I can mount this drive to ubuntu since I have added to the etc/fstab file: //192.168.178.30/user /home/user/DISK cifs auto,iocharset=utf8,user=user%password 0 0 Is there a similar, easy & safe way, to do the same when I am out of the office using the static IP of the fritzbox router? I have already added tcp port forwarding in the router for ports 8080 (to 80 of the disk) and 8443 (to 443 of the disk). Thank you in advance

  I'm using Ubuntu and I'm trying to connect to another machine in a different network using remote desktop. In Windows7 I have made the following in order to activate remote desktop: I've gone to computer - properties - remote settings I've selected the option: "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop I've opened "Windows Firewall with Advanced Security" In inbound rules I've enabled the rules for remote desktop (public and domain) I have also installed Remmina in the Ubuntu machine. For configuring it I did the following steps: Selected the RDP protocol In the server input I have written the Windows machine public IP. In username / password I have typed my login credentials (the same as my Windows admin account) But when I try to connect I get this error message: "Unable to connect to RDP server 89.130.251.160" If I ping my Windows7 machine, I have a correct response. Any suggestions?

  Our web system, use the third-party cdn service. Assume that the user set the local dns with the googledns or opendns to visit our web sites, so cdn service will select the closest cdn proxy node. all right, but in fact the user's actual access position might outside there, cdn service may chose the one furthest away from the user node, so static resource access slower.. At present, my idea is if user local set dns server with googledns, and then first one we get the actual ip address of the user, tracerote to test a best routing lines, set up a cookie in user browser, and then set 302 header for response to jump to the which best cdn node. Whether the user's browser side traceroute tool can provide the best route decision-making ? Because we find that, once the user to set local dns server with the foreign network segment, for example : set dns with 8.8.8.8, so cdn routing will choose the foreign service node.

It is supposed to deny remote login when SSH is not present. In the file /etc/xrdp/xrdp.ini I tried to change the [global] section by adding "ip=127.0.0.1" and it didn't work.

Possibly assigning individual private IP addresses to all connected. Facility to share internet (if hassel free). Can I do this using Gnome Network Manager or do I need another program? I'll be happy even if I get one folder to share for the time being and no internet if I could only outsource one file/folder.

• Googlebot requesting invalid url

  I have a web app which emails me exceptions automatically. This morning there was an error relating to a url: /Catalog/LiveCatalog?id=ylwpfqzts id is invalid (should be a guid) and caused an error parsing. Everything was handled correctly, and an error page is returned. But what was odd is that the user-agent reported itself as Googlebot and the IP is registered to Google. The URL would never have been generated by my web app but doesn't look particularly malicious. Anyone ever seen anything like this?

So simply put, I blocked all incoming requests from the Amazon cloud for our hosted application. I know that some good services/bots are now hosted on the cloud, and I'm wondering if certain IP addresses should be allowed, as they may gather data that would in the end benefit our site's SEO rankings? -- UPDATE -- I added a feature to block requests from the following hosts: Amazon Softlayer ServerDeals GigAvenue Since then, I have seen my network traffic decrease (monitored by network out bytes). Average operation is around 10,000,000 bytes. You can see where last week I was not blocking, then started blocking. I've since removed the blocks and will see what the outcome is.

  I'm just about to start a new business which creates niche affiliate sites. I'm curious about the impacts to me from Google of all the urls being hosted with the same analytic tags, webmaster tool tags and server ip ranges. To benefit the most from google's serps should i have each domain within seperate analytic accounts and webmaster tools or is it ok for me to have all of my domains within one account. My issue is duplicate content and the fact that i am building a publisher network and i'm not sure how much google likes them. I'm notoriously bad at searching and as such havent found what i'm looking for yet. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I tried it with the rewrite rules, but I can't get it working, because I don't know how to get the part xxx from the SERVER_NAME into my RewriteRule.   Just a quick note about an issue where JDeveloper no longer recognized an existing subversion working directory. Symptom:  JDeveloper Versioning menu offers to Version an Application that is already versioned in svn. Cause: The repository url contained in the hidden .svn folders of the working directory is no longer valid. Solution: Determine the correct url for the Subversion repository and update the .svn working directory.Fix the url contained in the svn folders of the working directory using the svn switch command. I usually configure network from the command line but this time I decided to give Network Manager a try, so I went to Network Connections, and selected manual IP configuration. At first I left the default gateway field blank, since I don't need a default gateway. Turned out network manager doesn't let me save the connection unless I enter that field, but entering a phony gateway messes up with my Internet connection. Anyway to do this setup?

  I have installed a LAMP stack (sudo tasksel install lamp-server) and wordpress (sudo apt-get install wordpress), but now, I would like to access my server remotely, to be used as a home fileserver. For example, my public ip is 82.16.xxx.xxx. Opening it in firefox with the suffix :8080 brings up my router config page..? Do I have to set up port forwarding? BTW. Accessing via localhost/wordpress/ works fine, I would just like to access my files while away from home.

• FTP won't open a connection to client

  I am running Windows server 2008 on Ubuntu server 12.04.1 via devstack and I am trying to download a file from an ftp server using the windows command line ftp client. When I run the ftp get command I get the following error message: 500 I won't open a connection to 10.0.0.2 (only to XX.XX.XX.XX) 425 No data connection 10.0.0.2 is the internal IP address of the instance, whereas XX.XX.XX.XX is the external address. Is there anyway to make the ftp client use the external address for the data connection, or alternatively have the client establish the connection? Thanks

• Web hosting announced downtime and how it affects FORWARD domain names?

  Our web hosting provider that holds our FORWARD domain names announced that at some point in the next couple weeks they will be migrating servers and that this will cause a 5-10 minute downtime at some point in that week during what happens to be our core business hours. They cite for technical reasons it is impossible to give an exact date or time when this downtime will occur. My questions are: If my domains are set to FORWARD to a static IP on servers not hosted by the web hosting provider in question then will this affect the DNS servers correctly routing to my website? Are their legitimate technical reasons for such a wide window of time, or could this just be a blanket statement to cover laziness in not being more organized with their server migrations? Are such downtimes normal for web hosting providers, or should I start to consider other providers?

  I have an PerfectPrivacy VPN connected via the OpenVPN-Network-Manger-Plugin (Ubuntu 12.04.1) and I want to assign a system wide proxy over that VPN. I have tried proxydriver that should do that automatically, but it works partially. The browser says that I have the IP of the VPN, but when I tried to send an eMail over SMTP (Port 25), I can´t connect to the mail server. In our company the smtp server port is closed, but that should be not a problem, when I do that over a VPN, shouldn´t it? greetings
