CSS/Javascript: multiple columns

hi, I'm looking for a columnizer plugin (making columns of my small divs). It is very important it has the following features: 1) It has to be as light as possible (if it is only css would be great, but I guess it is difficult make it work on IE then...) 2) It has to be cross-browser (I don't need IE6... IE7 and IE8 compatibility is required). 3) The divs has not to be broken. In other terms, the nodes have to be moved to next block but not splitted in 2. The nodes are div elements, they might include other divs, images and text. 4) The column have to have a fixed width and fixed margin. This means that when I resize the browser, and new columns are created (become the window becomes wider), the new columns have to rigidly keep the same width and distance between them. (margin:20px) (width:200px) Would be great to have some css.. but I'm afraid I need some jQuery plugin because I need all 4 features being supported. I found several plugins and css styleshits with very good solutions, but I couldn't find a complete one. Thanks

[jQuery] How to load vtip tooltip on a dynamically generated element?

I'm new to jQuery and trying to combine the use of a tooltip plugin and a lightbox plugin. More specifically, I am using Colorbox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox/) and vtip. Colorbox generates a div which displays an image like this: <div id="cboxLoadedContent" style="display: block; width: 400px; overflow: auto; height: 498px;"> <img src="image.jpg" id="cboxPhoto" style="margin: 49px auto auto; border: medium none; display: block; float: none; cursor: pointer;"> </div> I next add class="vtip" title="This is a tip." in order to use the vtip style, but for some reason it does not work when it's a title tag on an element dynamically generated by Colorbox, but works on anything already loaded on the page. Can anyone explain to me why this is and possibly offer some solutions to fix this problem?

Getting setting cookies on different domains, with javascript or other

Haven't been able to find anything particular to this situation online so here i go... I need to set/get the cookies stored at "first.com" while browsing "second.com", I have full access of "first.com" but i only have javascript access (can manipulate the DOM as i want) on "second.com". My first approach was to create an iframe on second.com (with js) that loaded a page like "first.com/doAjax?setCookie=xxx" and that did an ajax call to say "first.com/setCookie?cookieData=xxx" which would set the cookie on "first.com" with the data we passed around. That pretty much worked fine for setting the cookie on first.com from second.com - for getting a cookie I basically followed the same procedure, created the iframe that loaded "first.com/doAjax?getCookie" and that would do an ajax call to say "first.com/getCookie" which would read the cookie info on first.com and return it as a JSON object. The problem is that I'm unable to bring that JSON cookie object back to "second.com" so I can read it, well maybe i could just bring it when the Ajax call is complete using "window.top" but there's timing issues because its not relative to when the iframe has been loaded. I hope i am clear and was wondering if there's an easier solution rather than this crazy iframe-ajax crap, also seems like this wont even work for getting cookies in SAFARI.

Entity framework self referencing loop detected

I have a strange error. I'm experimenting with a .NET 4.5 Web API, Entity Framework and MS SQL Server. I've already created the database and set up the correct primary and foreign keys and relationships. I've created a .edmx model and imported two tables: Employee and Department. A department can have many employees and this relationship exists. I created a new controller called EmployeeController using the scaffolding options to create an API controller with read/write actions using Entity Framework. In the wizard, selected Employee as the model and the correct entity for the data context. The method that is created looks like this: // GET api/Employee public IEnumerable<Employee> GetEmployees() { var employees = db.Employees.Include(e => e.Department); return employees.AsEnumerable(); } When I call my API via /api/Employee, I get this error: ...The 'ObjectContent`1' type failed to serialize the response body for content type 'application/json; ...System.InvalidOperationException","StackTrace":null,"InnerException":{"Message":"An error has occurred.","ExceptionMessage":"Self referencing loop detected with type 'System.Data.Entity.DynamicProxies.Employee_5D80AD978BC68A1D8BD675852F94E8B550F4CB150ADB8649E8998B7F95422552'. Path '[0].Department.Employees'.","ExceptionType":"Newtonsoft.Json.JsonSerializationException","StackTrace":" ... Why is it self referencing [0].Department.Employees? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I would expect this to happen if I had circular referencing in my database but this is a very simple example. What could be going wrong?

jQuery adding a function to a link question

Hello all, I have a dynamically created table which in the last <td> there is a hidden <div> which is shown when the user hovers over a link in the <td>. That all works fine but there are several links in the div that I want to fire a function based on the id of the link concat'd with an string captured from a <td> from the parent row. I can capture the the variables I need from the id and <td> but something is wrong with the click function I have created. I monitored the function in FireBug and the function appears to be firing on all of the links instead of the one that is clicked. Do you catch expected exceptions in the controller or business service of your asp.net mvc application

I am developing an asp.net mvc application where user1 could delete data records which were just loaded before by user2. User2 either changes this non-existent data record (Update) or is doing an insert with this data in another table that a foreign-key constraint is violated. Where do you catch such expected exceptions? In the Controller of your asp.net mvc application or in the business service? Just a sidenote: I only catch the SqlException here if its a ForeignKey constraint exception to tell the user that another user has deleted a certain parent record and therefore he can not create the testplan. But this code is not fully implemented yet! Problem with using Jquery.ajax over .load on Zend

Right now, what i'm trying to do is to replace a label on the front page with a block of html. Right now, the page basically has: <label id="replace"></label> the js currently has: $(document).ready(function(){ $("#replace").load('/test'); }); the Zend class function has: public function indexAction(){ $this->_helper->layout()->disableLayout(); $this->_view->message = "This is from TestController index"; } and finally the index.phtml template simply has: <?php echo $this->message;?> Right now, I want to change the code around so that instead of just replacing that label with the same message, it would do a POST where the function will pull out a parameter, do something (like for instance, go to the database and pull something out with the POST parameter) and then return the message. I've tried editing the js so that it would look like: $.post('/test', {param : "test_param"}, function(data) {$("#replace").html(data);}); or $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/test', data: "{param:test_param}", contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "json", success: function(data) {$("#replace").html(data);} }); and neither worked. I took a step back and tried to replicate the .load functionality and do: $.ajax({ url: '/test', success: function(data) { $('#replace').html(data); alert('Load was performed.'); } }); and it doesn't work either. Anyone have any tips on how to go about doing this?

TableTools only exporting single header row

I am using the DataTable jquery plugin from: http://datatables.net/ I have a DataTable that has multi-row table header with colspan. Something like: <thead> <tr> <th>Level 1</th> <th colspan='2'>Level 1 - Item 1</th> <th colspan='2'>Level 1 - Item 2</th> </tr> <tr> <th>Level 2</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 1a</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 1b</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 2a</th> <th>Level 2 - Item 2b</th> </tr> </thead> However when I use the TableTools plugin to export then except for the "Print" option all the rest (Excel, CSV, Pdf etc) only has the "Level 2" header row and not the Level 1. Any suggestions on how to get it to export also Level 1?

Joomla ImageBrowser Lightbox not working

I've been using an image browser for Joomla called ImageBrowser. It's great - easy uploads, easy for clients to use, even handles zip file uploads. I have Joomla v. 1.5.15 installed and the newest version of this plugin as well on 3 or 4 of our sites with no fuss or issues. Recently, the ImageBrowser on one of our sites started acting strangely. It was as if the Lightbox effect that we should have disappeared completely. I compared the settings for the site to another and found they were identical. I couldn't find a solution in the documentation or forums. Here's the URL to look at: http://neda.us/photos?view=gallery&folder=BSU+12-5-09. You can compare that to another of our sites with the same plugin and settings at South Oak Floors dot COM. You should be able to click on a thumbnail and get a full size view of the image in a Lightbox. Any help much needed and much appreciated.

OpenSceneGraph C++ Access Violation reading location 0x00421000

Working with OpenSceneGraph, and I keep running into this violation issue that I would appreciate some help with. The problem is with the particular line below which happens to be the first in my main function. osg::ref_ptr<osg::Node> bench = osgDB::readNodeFile("Models/test.IVE"); I have my models folder right in my directory. The error is as below. Unhandled exception at 0x68630A6C (msvcr100.dll) in OSG3D.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00421000. Passing the Class<T> in java of a generic list?

I have a method for reading JSON from a service, I'm using Gson to do my serialization and have written the following method using type parameters. public T getDeserializedJSON(Class<T> aClass,String url) { Reader r = getJSONDataAsReader(url); Gson gson = new Gson(); return gson.fromJson(r, aClass); } I'm consuming json which returns just an array of a type e.g. [ { "prop":"value" } { "prop":"value" } ] I have a java class which maps to this object let's call it MyClass. However to use my method I need to do this: RestClient<ArrayList<MyClass>> restClient = new RestClient<ArrayList<MyClass>>(); ArrayList<MyClass> results = restClient.getDeserializedJSON(ArrayList<MyClass>.class, url); However, I can't figure out the syntax to do it. Passing just ArrayList.class doesn't work. So is there a way I can get rid of the Class parameter or how do I get the class of the ArrayList of MyClass?

In maven2, how do I assemble bits and pieces of different modules to create final distributions?

I have four maven project: client api jar web service war ui jar web interface war The service war will need to be packaged to include the client api jar, together with javadocs (so that each version is distributed with a matching client and documentation). The web interface war will need the ui jar and all the dependencies (webstart/applet deployment). So I need a 5th project that does all the packaging. How to do this with ant or a script is perfectly clear to me, but not in maven. I tried the following: having the javadocs included as part of the war packaging: this requires the execution of the javadocs goal in project 1 before execution of package in project 2. Haven't found a way to bind plugins/goals across different projects. Using the assembly plugin in project2 had the same problem. create a fifth project and use the assembly plugin. Still the same problems as before, with the problem that since I need different pieces from each sub-project I do not understand how this can be done using the assembly. Is this too hard to do in maven, and should I just give up? Or I am looking at it wrong, in which case, how should I be looking at it? Thanks! Upon further reflection, here is a partial answer: Each project should build all its artifacts. This is done by having the plugins configured to run as per the prepare-resources and package phases. So, in my case, I prepare all that needs to be generated (jar, javadocs, xsd documentation, ...) as different artifacts so that a single "package" goal execution creates all. So, it's not "how project 2 forces project 1 to run different goals", but it's "make project 1 create all of its artifact as part as the normal lifecycle). This seems to simplify things.

I've written a few jquery plugins for my client. I want to write a function which would initialize each plugin which have been loaded. Plugin1 should be attached to all links with class name 'ajax' and plugin2 to all divs with class name 'test2': $('document').ready(function(){ $('a.ajax').plugin1(); $('div.test2').plugin2(); } I know that I can use jQuery().pluginName to check if a plugin exists. But I want to have a leaner way. Can all loaded plugins register a initialize function in an array or something like that which I in document.ready can iterate through and invoke? like: //in plugin1.js myCustomPlugins['plugin1'] = function() { $('a.ajax').plugin1(); }; // and in the initializer script: myCustomPlugins.each(function() { this(); }; Guess it all boiled down to three questions: How do I use a jquery "global" array? How do I iterate through that array to invoke registered methods Are there a better approach?

javascript not firing when asp.net user control loads

I am trying to fire a Javascript call when an ASP.net user control to an aspx page. The Web site allows users to add user controls to a page (similar to adding a widget etc to a page like google widgets). But when the control is added the javascript does not fire, only if the page is refreshed will it fire the javascript. IF the next time the website is accessd and the controlis still there the javascript fires too. Do I need to use the RegisterClientScript method to register the call (setAutoTimer()) on the control load or OnPreRender event. How to serialize each item in IEnumerable for ajax post

I have a PartialView that displays IEnumerable<Movie>. _MoviePartial.cshtml @foreach(var movie in Model) { <div class="content"> <span class="image"><img src="@movie.Posters.Profile" alt="@movie.Title"/></span> <span class="title">@movie.Title</span> <div class="score`"> <span class="critics-score">@movie.Ratings.CriticsScore</span> <span class="audience-score">@movie.Ratings.AudienceScore</span> </div> @Html.ActionLink("Add Movie", "Add", "MyMovies") </div> } When the user clicks the "Add Movie" ActionLink I am going to do an ajax post to add the selected movie to the users collection. My problem is that I would like to send the entire selected Movie class to the "Add" action but not sure how to serialize each movie since the entire Movie class is not rendered in the PartialView, just a few properties. I know I can serialize something like this... <script type="text/javascript"> var obj = @Html.Raw(Json.Encode(movie)); </script> But I'm not sure how that would work inside a foreach loop that renders html, especially inside a PartialView. So, just to be clear, when a user clicks the "Add Movie" ActionLink I would like to send the serialized Movie class for that respective movie to my controller via ajax. My questions is... Is there a better way to serialize each movie and append it to it's respective anchor? I know there's the data- html5 attribute but I thought they only allow string values, not json objects. I also know I could use jQuery's .data() function but I'm struggling to think through how to get that to run from a PartialView, especially since the html rendered by _MoviePartial.cshtml may be returned from a controller via ajax.

jQuery fade li elemet and cycle it when mouse hovered.

I'm trying to recreate an effect in jQuery, where an element(<li> <img>) will be cycled and has a fading effect when hovered. The '<li>' contains '<img>' (image screenshots). when the mouse is on top of element it will keep cycling all that are in '<ul>' with a fading effect. when the mouse is away it will stop cycling the list. I also want to add a pager where you can navigate to the list. My Existing Code: link text My Problem: The current code has some problem with the pagination, it added all images that can be seen on the code. instead of 1-8 only, it continued to add another 1-8 and another. Second problem is, It also start cycling and fading when the page loads. The cycling and fading should only be working when the mouse is on top of the element. I don't know if the 'Cycle Plugin' is really required on this approach, I wan't it to be minimal as much as possible. I just use 'Cycle Plugin' because it's a quick answer to my problem. The effect i'm trying to achieve: link text (WARNING: Contains some Pornography), Sorry of my example, I tried finding other alternative but no luck. Thanks and merry xmas!

Why does exec:java work and exec:exec fail?

Hey there, just set up a simple project to test the functionality of the maven exec plugin. I have one class containing one "Hello World" main method. I've tested two configurations of the exec plugin. <goals> <goal>exec</goal> </goals> <configuration> <executable>java</executable> <arguments> <argument>-classpath</argument> <classpath/> <argument>test.exec.HelloWorldExec</argument> </arguments> </configuration> failed miserably, giving me a ClassNotFoundException, while <goals><goal>java</goal></goals> <configuration> <mainClass>test.exec.HelloWorldExec</mainClass> </configuration> worked. However I would like to be able to start my java main class in a separate process, so I'd like to understand whats different with exec:exec and how I can get it to work? Chrome Extension - Console Log not firing

I'm starting to learn to make my own Chrome Extensions, and starting small. At the moment, I'm switching from using the alert() function to console.log() for a cleaner development environment. For some reason, console.log() is not displaying in my chrome console logs. However, the alert() function is working just fine. The right approach to loading dynamic content into a UITableView in iOS

ok, I've read tons of bits and pieces on the subject of loading dynamic content (from the web) into a UITableView and the problem with calculating cell height upfront. I've tried different simple implementations but the problem persists... Assuming I need to read a JSON file from the web, parse it into 'item' objects, each with variable size image and various text labels, here is what I believe would be the right approach to avoid long hang time of the app while everything is loading: on app load read JSON file and parse into items array provide only small part of the items array to the tableview (about 10 items) - since I need to load the images associated with each item to calculate cell height - I don't want the view to go through the whole items list and load all images - this hangs the app until every image is loaded display the tableview with the available cells (assuming I load a few 'spare' ones, user can even scroll to more items) in the background using Grand Central Dispatch download images for all/some of the remaining items and then reload the tableview with the new data (repeat step 4 if item list is very long) Step 2 above is necessary since I have no way to calculate the cell height without loading the images first, and since tableview first calculates height of all cells it may take a very long time to download all images for all items. Would you say this is the right approach? am I missing something?

Two references to the same domain/entity model

Problem I want to save the attributes of a model that have changed when a user edits them. Here's what I want to do ... Retrieve edited view model Get domain model and map back updated value Call the update method on repository Get the "old" domain model and compare values of the fields Store the changed values (in JSON) into a table However I am having trouble with step number 4. It seems that the Entity Framework doesn't want to hit the database again to get the model with the old values. It just returns the same entity I have. Attempted Solutions I have tried using the Find() and the SingleOrDefault() methods, but they just return the model I currently have. Encode_JSON Errors in Lasso 8.6.2 After Period of Time

We are in the process of converting apps from Lasso 8 to Lasso 9, and as an intermediate step, have upgraded from 8.5.5 to 8.6.2 (which runs alongside 9 on our new box, in different virtual hosts). I am finding that with 8.6.2 we are getting a slew of errors on pages that call encode_json. The weird thing with these errors is that they don't start happening until some period of time after the site starts. Then, some hours later, all encode_json calls begin to fail with error messages like this: An error occurred while processing your request. Error Information Error Message: No tag, type or constant was defined under the name "?????????????????" with arguments: array: (pair: (-find)=([\x{0020}-\x{21}\x{23}-\x{5b}\x{5d}-\x{10fff}])), (r) at: onCompare with params: 'r' at: JSON with params: 'reload', -Options=array: (-Internal) at: JSON with params: @map: (reload)=(false), (tcstring)=(LZU), (timestring)=(10:42 AM   1442Z) at: [...].lasso with params: 'pageloadtime'='1383038310' on line: 31 at position: 1 Error Code: -9948 (Yes, those Chinese(?) characters are in the error message.) I have removed the 8.5.5 encode_json tag from LassoStartup, so we are using the correct built-in method. The encode_json method fails for any and all parameters I throw at it from simple strings to arrays of maps. Upon restarting the site, encode_json resumes working for an hour or two, seemingly depending on load. On 8.5.5, we don't have this problem. Does anyone have experience with this issue? Any advice regarding trying the 8.5.5 tag swap encode_json to see if I can override the built-in method? Maybe it will work better? Thanks in advance for your time and assistance. -Justin

jQuery: Problems cookies internet explorer

I have made a login page. When the user logs in a request to an API is send. This API is PHP and checks the username and password. When both are correct an unique key is send back (this is placed in the database for further use: userid and other stuff needed in the website). After that key is sent back it is placed in a cookie: $.cookie("session", JSON.stringify(result)); After the cookie is set I send the user to a new page: location.href = 'dashboard.htm'; In this page jQuery checks if the cookie "session" is present. If not, the user is send back to the login page. sessionId = ($.cookie("session") ? JSON.parse($.cookie("session")).SessionId : 0); return sessionId; This works fine in Chrome, but IE (8/9) has some problems with this. I figured out that when you get to dashboard.htm the session is present. As soon as I hit F5 the session is gone. And sometimes the cookie isn't set at all! I can't seem to figure out why this is happening in IE. Has someone any idea? Other options/ideas to save that unique key are also welcome. Thanks in advance.
