• Getting Tap/Touch Position when selecting a TableView cell

  Hi, hope to get some help here because this is something that really makes me mad... I have a view with a tableView, and when I tap a cell I want to present a popOver window pointing the arrow to the cell I tapped. the things that I think I need is: 1- the position of the cell in the screen (not in the view, because on large tables the Y value of the cell's rect could be grater than screen hight) or 2- a CGPoint or something similar that represents the point in the screen I tapped. I can't figured this out, and makes me really mad!!! Any help will very very very very usefull. Have a nice day.

• Find and replace string in MySQL using data from another table

  Hi, sorry for formatting this wonky but hope you can understand it. I have two MySql tables, and I want to find and replace text strings in one using data in another. Texts - one column: messages 'thx guys' 'i think u r great' 'thx again' ' u rock' Dictionary - two columns: bad_spelling, good_spelling 'thx' 'thanks' ' u ' ' you ' ' r ' ' are ' I want SQL to go through and look at every row in messages and replace every instance of bad_spelling with good_spelling, and to do this for all the pairs of bad_spelling and good_spelling The closest I have gotten is this: update texts, dictionary set texts.message = replace(texts.message, dictionary.bad_spelling, dictionary.good_spelling) But this only changes 'thx' to 'thanks' (in 2 rows) and does not go on to replace ' u ' with ' you' or ' r ' with ' are '. Any ideas how to make it use all the rows in dictionary in the replace statement? -- PS forgot to mention that this is a small example and in the real thing I will have a lot of find/replace pairs, which may get added to over time.

I'm at a loss for where to start looking for the source of the problem.

  Here is my problem: I have 2 tables: 1.WORKER, with coloumns |ID|OTHER_STAF| , where ID is primary key, and 2.FIRM, with coloumns |FPK|ID|SOMETHING_ELSE| , where combination FPK and ID make primary key, and also ID is a foreign key referenced to WORKER.ID (not null, and must have same value as in WORKER). I want to make stored procedure UPDATE_ID_WORKER, where I would like to change the value of specific ID in WORKER, and also in all instances of specific value of ID in FIRM. stored procedure: ........ @id .. ???? ........ • MYSQL Fast Insert dependent on flag from a seperate table

  Hi all. For work I'm dealing with a large database (160 million + rows a year, 10 years of data) and have a quandary; A large percentage of the data we upload is null data and I'd like to stop it from being uploaded. The data in question is spatial in nature, so I have one table like so: idLocations (Auto-increment int, PK) X (float) Y (foat) Alwaysignore (Bool) Which is used as a reference in a second table like so: idLocations (Int, PK, "FK") idDates (Int, PK, "FK") DATA1 (float) DATA2 (float) ... DATA7 (float) So, Ideally I'd like to find a method where I can do something like: INSERT INTO tblData(idLocations, idDates, DATA1, ..., DATA7) VALUES (...), ..., (...) WHERE VALUES(idLocations) NOT LIKE (SELECT FROM tblLocation WHERE alwaysignore=TRUE ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE DATA1=VALUES(DATA1) So, for my large batch of input data (250 values in a block), ignore the inserts where the idLocations matches an idLocations values flagged with alwaysignore. I hardly follow any naming conventions... neither for variables.. nor for methods... nor for classes... nor for tables, columns, SPs... Further to this, I hardly comment anything while programming... I always think that, Let me first see the results and then I will come and correct the var names and other things later... (Thanks to visual studio's reflection here)...   How can I find out which FORM an HTML element is contained within, using a simple/small bit of JavaScript? In the example below, if I have already got hold of the SPAN called 'message', how can I easily get to the FORM element? <form name="whatever"> <div> <span id="message"></span> </div> </form> The SPAN might be nested within other tables or DIVs, but it seems too long-winded to iterate around .parentElement and work my way up the tree. Is there a simpler and shorter way? If it wasn't a SPAN, but an INPUT element, would that be easier? Do they have a property which points back to the containing FORM? Google says no...

• Compilation of latex file

  Hi, I am compiling a latex file on a server and download from there the generated dvi, ps and pdf files to view them. The latex file by \includegraphics includes some figure files which are not on my local machine. I found that dvi file generated by latex command does not show the figures after dowloaded to my local, but ps file generated by dvips -Ppdf have the figures, and pdf file generated by either ps2pdf or pdflatex seem not have the figures again. Is it because the figures are not actually embeded as part of the dvi and pdf files by those compilation commands? How to actually embed figures so we can only export the document files to other machines? are the case for tables in separated tex files included into main tex file by /input and the case for style files included by \usepackage similar to the above case for figure files included by \includegraphics ?   So, lets say you have two SQL Server Databases on the same server that reference each others tables in their Views, Functions and Stored Procedures. You know, things like this: use database_foo create view spaghetti as select f.col1, c.col2 from fusilli f inner join database_bar.dbo.conchigli c on f.id = c.id (I know that cross-database views are not very good practice, but lets just say you're stuck with it) Are there any good techniques to avoid 'hard coding' the database names? (So that should you need to occasionally re-point to a different database - for testing perhaps - you don't need to edit loads of views, fns, sps) I'm interested in SQL 2005 or SQL 2008 solutions.   I have two instances of SQL Server: Server1 (SQL Server 2008) Server2 (SQL Server 2005) I am executing a stored procedure from Server1 which references tables on Server2. It is working fine in my test environment: Server1 runs Vista SP2, SQL Server 2008; Server2 runs Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005. However, it is not working in the production environment: Server1 runs Vista SP1, SQL Server 2008; Server2 runs Windows XP SP2, SQL Server 2005. The error message I receive is: OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "Server2" returned message "No transaction is active.". Msg 7391, Level 16, State 2, Line 21 The operation could not be performed because OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "Server2" was unable to begin a distributed transaction.

  Hi, I'm still learning (baby steps). Messing about with a function and hoping to find a tidier way to deal with my datatables. For the more commonly used tables throughout the life of the program, I'll dump them to datatables and query those instead. What I'm hoping to do is query the datatables for say column x = "this", and convert the values of column "y" directly to a List to return to the caller: private List<string> LookupColumnY(string hex) { List<string> stringlist = new List<string>(); DataRow[] rows = tblDataTable.Select("Columnx = '" + hex + "'", "Columny ASC"); foreach (DataRow row in rows) { stringlist.Add(row["Columny"].ToString()); } return stringlist; } Anyone know a slightly simpler method? I guess this is easy enough, but I'm wondering if I do enough of these if iterating via foreach loop won't be a performance hit. TIA!

  Hi, I've already found a good site to convert HTML character codes to their respective glyphs: http://www.public.asu.edu/~rjansen/glyph_encoding.html However, I need a bit more information. Does anyone know of a site like the one above that also provides information on what type of character code it is? Meaning, is it a special character? Is the glyph visible? Etc... So far I have found some tables with this information, but they aren't as complete as the resource above. I would really like to get my hands on a complete table. Thanks, -Ben

  Hello, I have two websites that have an almost identical database schema. the only difference is that some tables in one website have 1 or 2 extra fields that the other and vice versa. I wanted to the same Database Access layer classes to will manipulate both websites. What can be a good design pattern that can be used to handle that little difference. for example, I have a method createAccount(Account account) in my DAO class but the implementation will be slightly different between website A and website B.   Hi all, I'm new to Symfony and I'm going through the Jobeet tutorial v1.4 for Doctrine. I am currently stuck on Day 3. I've followed all the instructions on configuring the database and building models and modules; however, when I try to access "http://localhost:8080/frontend_dev.php" I receive the following error: 'Configuration "config/databases.yml" does not exist or is unreadable.' My config/databases.yml file looks like this: all: doctrine: class: sfDoctrineDatabase param: dsn: 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=jobeet' username: root password: mysecret Creating the tables and loading the fixtures seem to work fine after checking the database with phpmyadmin.   Hi out there, my challenge is to built a video portal, based on wordpress (blog already started). so in the backend there must be a option to add, tag, descripe videos and in frontend the videos must have a comment function, must be searchable and so on. wordpress gives already a large amout of functionallity and i want to use this, comments for example, but also categorisation and tagging. what is the best practise to built such a "plugin" ? where to start? what to use? custom tables and built everything by myself or can i use the blog functionallity to advantage? hopefully everything is clear, comment if not ;)

Calling the class' query method will query and cache the entire set of results at the first time; afterward, each subsequence query will retrieve only the updated portion, and will merge the result into the cache. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it?   I can't figure out what's causing my INSERT INTO's to fail to certain table in MySql. I can manage them to other tables. The table looks like: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS `Match` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `match_no` int(11) NOT NULL, `season` int(11) NOT NULL, `hometeam` int(11) NOT NULL, `awayteam` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`), KEY `match_no` (`match_no`), KEY `season` (`season`), KEY `hometeam` (`hometeam`), KEY `awayteam` (`awayteam`) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=latin1 AUTO_INCREMENT=1 ; And the command is INSERT INTO Match (`match_no`, `season`, `hometeam`, `awaytem`) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3) All I get is: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Match (match_no, season, hometeam, awaytem) VALUES (1, 1, 2, 3)' at line 1 I have checked the manual and half-a-dozen examples from the web and whatnought and tried all sorts of changes to the syntax in case there is some MySql specific oddity, but nothing seems to work.

• Entity Framework Performance Problem

  I'm hoping that someone can help me understand how to overcome a performance problem I'm running into with the latest version of the Entity Framework. In my test, I created my model from a database consisting of around 80 tables. The problem that I'm running into is that the cost of the very first query I run on a thread is very expensive. If I run without pre-compiling views the first query takes anywhere from 5800 to 6600 milliseconds. If I pre-compile the views (see this article) I can get the initial query cost down to about 2800 to 3200 milliseconds. 3 seconds for each request is still unacceptable for my needs. Subsequent queries are very fast. Can you please help me understand how to eliminate the poor performance of the initial query? I'm using the version of entity framework that ships with Visual Studio 2010 RC.

  Hi I have a function to return a DataView containing info on sheets in an Excel Workbook, as follows: Public Function GetSchemaInfo() As DataView Using connection As New OleDbConnection(GetConnectionString()) connection.Open() Dim schemaTable As DataTable = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable(OleDbSchemaGuid.Tables, Nothing) connection.Close() Return New DataView(schemaTable) End Using End Function This works fine except that if the workbook has linked data (i.e. pulls its data from another workbook), duplicate sheet names are returned. For example, Workbook1 has a single worksheet, Sheet1. I get 2 rows in the DataView, with the TABLE_NAME field being "Sheet1$" and "Sheet1$_". OK, I could use a RowFilter, but wondered whether there was a better way or why this extra row is returned? thanks Richard

• Move million records from MEMORY table to MYISAM table.

  Hi, I am looking for a fast way to move records from a MEMORY table to MYISAM table. MEMORY table has around 0.5 million records. Both tables have exactly the same structure (same number of columns, data types etc.). But the MYISAM table is indexed (B-TREE) on a few columns. There are around 25 columns most of which are unsigned integers. I have already tried using "INSERT INTO SELECT * FROM " query. But is there any faster way to do this? Appreciate your help. Prashant
