  • Need help mocking a ASP.NET Controller in RhinoMocks

    Hi folks, I'm trying to mock up a fake ASP.NET Controller. I don't have any concrete controllers, so I was hoping to just mock a Controller and it will work. This is what I have, currently. _fakeRequestBase = MockRepository.GenerateMock<HttpRequestBase>(); _fakeRequestBase.Stub(x => x.HttpMethod).Return("GET"); _fakeContextBase = MockRepository.GenerateMock<HttpContextBase>(); _fakeContextBase.Stub(x => x.Request).Return(_fakeRequestBase); var controllerContext = new ControllerContext(_fakeContextBase, new RouteData(), MockRepository.GenerateMock<ControllerBase>()); _fakeController = MockRepository.GenerateMock<Controller>(); _fakeController.Stub(x => x.ControllerContext).Return(controllerContext); Everything works except the last line, which throws a runtime error and is asking me for some Rhino.Mocks source code or something (which I don't have). See how I'm trying to mock up an abstract Controller - is that allowed? Can someone help me?

  • Problem migrating membershipProvider functionality from mvc1 to mvc2

    I am migrating a web app in mvc1 to mvc2. When it came down to migrating my MembershipProvider authentication I keep getting errors that MembershipProvider and MembershipCreateStatus type cannot be found. I do have the reference to System.Web which to my understanding includes the Security reference, but when I examine the the object, those types do not appear. I am just getting familiar with mvc2, if anyone has any input on this it would be extremely appreciated.

  • Best practices for creating a logger library using log4net. Is

    My goal is to create a log4net library that can be shared across multiple projects. In my solution which is in .net 4.0, I created a class library called Logger and referenced it from web project. Now I created a logger.config in the class library and put all the configuration in the logger.config file. I then used [assembly: log4net.Config.XmlConfigurator(Watch = true, ConfigFile = "Logger.config")] When I run the web app nothing is getting logged. So I added this line of code in web.config <add key="log4net.Internal.Debug" value="true"/> which gave me debugging info and error information Failed to find configuration section 'log4net' in the application's .config file. Check your .config file for the and elements. The configuration section should look like: I moved the configuration from logger.config to web.config and everything seems to work fine. I don't want the log4net configuration in web.config but have it logger.config as a cleaner approach. The goal is to make other projects use this library and not have to worry about configuration in every project. Now the question is, How do I do this? What am I doing wrong? Any suggestion with code example will be beneficial to everyone. FYI, I am using structure map IOC to reslove the logger before logging to it.

  • How do I keep subdomain.domain.com links from mapping to subdomain.domain.com/subdomain?

    I have a virtual directory created and a sub domain that points to that virtual directory. My links always route to subdomain.domain.com/subdomain/controller/action when they can leave off the subdomain link. Is there an easy way to stop that? Also, it's the same problem when I mapped anotherdomain.com to my virtual directory. It ends up linking to anotherdomain.com/virtualdir/controller/action. It just looks unprofessional to me to have all my links be myapp.com/myapp/action/controller.

  • Routing fails when only category is supplied

    My website uses categories and sub-categories. I'd like the follow mapping: /Category/Fruit /Category/Fruit/Apples But if I use the below: routes.MapRoute( "Category", // Route name "Category/{category}/{subcategory}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Entity", action = "Category" } // Parameter defaults ); I get a 404 for /Category/Fruit however /Category/Fruit/Apples works ok. I'd like /Category/Fruit to work as well but I can't add another route with the same name. How do I get around this? Thanks in advance.

  • How can I keep the the logic to translate a ViewModel's values to a Where clause to apply to a linq query out of My Controller?

    This same problem keeps cropping up. I have a viewModel that doesn't have any persistent backing. It is just a ViewModel to generate a search input form. I want to build a large where clause from the values the user entered. If the Action Accepts as a parameter SearchViewModel How do I do this without passing my viewModel to my service layer? Service shouldn't know about ViewModels right? Oh and if I serialize it, then it would be a big string and the key/values would be strongly typed. SearchViewModel this is just a snippet.     I've been stuck at this for days now. I copied the exact codes from google api samples to upload files to Google Drive. Here is the code UserCredential credential = GoogleWebAuthorizationBroker.AuthorizeAsync( new ClientSecrets { ClientId = ClientId, ClientSecret = ClientSecret, }, new[] { DriveService.Scope.Drive, DriveService.Scope.DriveFile }, "user", CancellationToken.None, new FileDataStore("MyStore")).Result; But it would throw an exception at runtime: Method not found: 'Void Google.Apis.Util.Store.FileDataStore..ctor(System.String)'. I already added the necessary Google Api dlls. Or if anyone could suggest a better code for uploading files to Google Drive in a website which implements Server-Side Authorization. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     enviroment: hibernate 4.1.6.final spring 3.1.2.release spring jpa 1.1.0.release postgresql 9.1-901-1.jdbc4 there is 2 table public A { private Long id; private Long name; } public B { private Long id; private Long table_a_id; } the A.id and B.id is sequential, unique , but no related.(means they are separately id for their own table). how to do mapping? i have tried some method, however the result is not i wanted, because it bind wrong. for example: public A { .... @OneToOne @JoinColumn(name = "id") private B table_b } public B { ... @JsonIgnore @OneToOne(mappedBy = "table_b") private A table_a; } when i query A the result is { "id":5, "table_b":{ "id":5, "table_a_id":4 } } obviously the data join by using their id but not joining using table_a_id. what i expect is { "id":4, "table_b":{ "id":5, "table_a_id":4 } } so can somebody teach me that, how to map this 2 table by using table b table_a_id(foregin key)

Adding either resulted in compiler warnings and runtime errors. I've tried the explicit syntax as described here but haven't found the right combination yet.

  • Does duplicate id's screw up jquery selectors?

    If I had two divs, both with id="myDiv" Would $("#myDiv").fadeOut(); fade both divs out? Or would it fade only the first/second? Or none at all? How do I change which one it fades out? Note: I know duplicate id's is against standards but I'm using the fancybox modal popup and it duplicates specified content on your page for the content of the popup. If anyone knows a way around this (maybe I'm using fancybox wrong) please let me know.

  • Render different view depending on the type of the data

    Hi there So lets suppose we have an action in a controller that looks a bit like this: public ViewResult SomeAction(int id) { var data = _someService.GetData(id); ... //create new view model based on the data here return View(viewModel); } What I m trying to figure out is the best way to render a diferent view based on the type fo the data. the "_someService.GetData method returns an data that knows its out type (ie not only you can do typeof(data) but also you can do data.DataType and you ll get an enum value so I could achieve what I m trying to do doing something kinda like this public ViewResult SomeAction(int id) { var data = _someService.GetData(id); //I m mapping fields to the viewModel here var viewModel = GetViewModel(data); swtich(data.DataType) case DataType.TypeOne: return View("TypeOne", viewModel); break; ... } But this does not seem to be the nicest way, (I dont event know if it would work) Is this the way to go? Should I use some sort of RenderPartial Aproach? after all , waht will change in the view is mostly the order of the data (ie the rest of the view would be quite similar) Cheers

If i write its code in public string this[string propName] i alwasy getting Attachment null. How can i fill Attachment Object of ContactEmail so that i can manage all errors on same place?

  • What is the easiest way to deploy a MVC2 application from Visual Studio 2010 to IIS 7.5?

    I´ve tried a couple of different ways to deploy a application to a IIS 7.5 running on my machine for testing purposes and i´ve sort of hit a wall. Nothing works out of the box. Everything assumes I have knowledge I don't have and would prefer not to have to aqquire. Google isn't really helping either with answers ranging from "copy files by hand" to "install teamcity and set it up for CI". I have set up TeamCity for java projects before and it's really over kill for my needs at the moment. So anyone know of a fast, simple and easy way to deploy a application during testing/building?

Can I set some properties in OnExecuting so I don't have to do it for all Actions? I want to then display the string value of the property in all my view pages. If yes, how can I do this? I need to hook into the base view data somehow? so i'll have: public MyViewData : ViewData { } And I need one for generics also?
