• Safari ignores input type="file" on server post

  I have a real problem with a classic ASP page. The page allows the user to upload a document and save it to the database. The intial page posts to another asp page which saves down to the db. This works on IE and Firefox. However on Safari it fails. I've debugged the problem and it boils down to the fact that of all the controls that the server page has access to, only 1 control is missing. This happens to be this: <input type="file" size="40" id="myfile" name="myfile" /> So I'm wondering why safari would decide to not give me access to this control (using asp's Request("") ) and why it works in FF and IE. I have some debug code which writes out all controls and it doesn't see this control. p.s. I hate Web development

  i'm using Spring Data for MongoDB and got the following classes class A { List<B> b; } class B { Date startDate; Date endDate; } when i save an object of A it gets persisted like { "_id" : "DQDVDE000VFP8E39", "b" : [ { "startDate" : ISODate("2009-10-05T22:00:00Z"), "endDate" : ISODate("2009-10-29T23:00:00Z") }, { "startDate" : ISODate("2009-11-01T23:00:00Z"), "endDate" : ISODate("2009-12-30T23:00:00Z") } ] } Now i want to query the db for documents matching entries in b where a given date is between startDate and endDate. Query query = new Query(Criteria.where("a").elemMatch( Criteria.where("startDate").gte(date) .and("endDate").lte(date) ); Which results in the following mongo query: { "margins": { "$elemMatch": { "startDate" : { "$gte" : { "$date" : "2009-11-03T23:00:00.000Z"}}, "endDate" : { "$lte" : { "$date" : "2009-11-03T23:00:00.000Z"}} } } } but returns no resulting documents. I would like to move the implementation away hence to decouple am using interfaces. interface IFoo { void Bar(); void Baz(); } The assemblies which implemented the above interface would be drop in some predefined location say "C:\Plugins" for eg: project: A class A : IFoo { } when compiled produces A.dll project: B class A : IFoo { } when compiled produced B.dll Now I would like to provide a feature in my application to enable end use to configure the assembly to be loaded in the database.say C:\Plugins\A.dll or C:\Plugins\B.dll How it can be achieved using Castle Windsor. container.AddComponent("identifier",load assembly from specified location as configured in DB); I would like to do something like this: IFoo foo =container.Resolve("identifier"); foo.Bar(); //invoke method. • Using Multiple Foreign Keys to the same table in LINQ

  I have a table Users and a table Items In the Items table, I have fields such as ModifiedBy CreatedBy AssignedTo which all have a userId integer. The database is set up to have these as foreign keys back to the Users table. When using LINQToSQL, the relationships which are automatically built from the dbml end up giving me names like User, User1 and User2 e.g. myItem.User1.Name or myItem.User2.Name Obviously this isn't very readable and I'd like it be along the lines of myItem.CreatedByUser.Name or myItem.ModifiedByUser.Name etc I could change the names of the relationships but that means I have to redo that every time I change the db schema and refresh the dbml. Is there any way round this?

I have a really (fake) groovy query like this:- SELECT CarId, NumberPlate (SELECT Owner FROM Owners b WHERE b.CarId = a.CarId) AS Owners FROM Cars a ORDER BY NumberPlate And this is what I'm trying to get... => 1 ABC123 John, Jill, Jane => 2 XYZ123 Fred => 3 SOHOT Jon Skeet, ScottGu So, i tried using AS [Text()] ... FOR XML PATH('') but that was inlcuding weird encoded characters (eg. carriage return). ... so i'm not 100% happy with that. I also tried to see if there's a COALESCE solution, but all my attempts failed. So - any suggestions?

• Rails flash hash violation of MVC?

  I know Rails' flash hash is nothing new, but I keep running into the same problem with it. Controllers should be for business logic and db queries, not formatting strings for display to the user. But the flash hash is always set in the controller. This means that I need to hack and work around Rails to use Helpers that I made to format strings for the flash hash. Is this just a pragmatic compromise to MVC or am I missing something here? How do you deal with this problem? Or do you not even see it as one?

  Two questions: How can I import a file from a web address, without a form? Example: Organisation.import(:from = 'http://wufoo.com/report.csv') How can I use xml builder without pulling from the db? More Info My company uses wufoo for web forms. The data from wufoo is exported as csv files. To get the data into my company's cms, it needs to be formatted as xml. I don't need to store any of the data, aside from the url to the csv file. I thought this might work well as a simple rails app.

  I need to implement a method that takes an address split up into individual parts and returns any matching items from an address table. If no matches are found, I want to be able to return a value indicating where it failed. Each input param has a corresponding field in the table. The signature would look something like this: List<Address> MatchAddress(string zipCode, string streetName, string houseNumber, string houseLetter, string floor, string appartmentNo, out int mismatchPosition) { // return matching addresses // if none found, return the position where it stopped matching // zipCode is position 0, appartmentNo is position 5 // // an empty param value indicates "don't check" } I know I can construct the method such that I start with all the parameters, execute the query and then remove param by param (from the right side) until either a match is found or I run out of parameters, but can I construct a query that is more effective than that, i.e minimizing the number of calls to the db, maybe even as a single call?

  I recently performed a migration-upgrade from TFS 2008 to TFS 2010. Almost everything is working properly now. However, our team is getting duplicate emails now. I'm guessing this is because I used the TFS 2008 power tools to setup alerts. After the upgrade, I installed the TFS 2010 power tools and noticed that there were not alerts configured. I setup new alerts and now we get duplicates. Is it possible the old alerts configuration is floating around in the db somewhere?

  Hello guys, I was hoping someone can shed some light on what might be occurring on my page. Okay what I currently have on my page is a simple form that collects first name, last name, city, state and email. Once submitted it will hit a PHP page that updates our DB and echo's back to the designted div with a class of .response. I am using jquery.validation and placing that dynamic function within the submitHandler like so: submitHandler: function(form) { $(form).ajaxSubmit({ target: '.response', // target element(s) to be updated with server response resetForm: true, success: function() { $('#commentform').hide(); $('.response').show(); } }); So what I am getting is a div that is not being populated with the echo from my php file in FF and in IE I am getting the message of thank you but the page is taking me to the update.php script in which I have the form action pointing to.   I just put my asp .net web service on a remote host. The service accesses an oracle db on my local machine. The service worked fine when it was running on localhost but since moving to a remote hos, I get The provider is not compatible with the version of Oracle client at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleInit.Initialize() at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..cctor() --- End of inner exception stack trace --- at Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection..ctor(String connectionString) at.... I know the error is related to the data provider version running on the server/client. In my case, the only dll I referenced in the project was Oracle.DataAccess So how do I go about solving this? Note that I won't be able to change anything on the web host other than my own project. My local machine is running Oracle 11g Thanks.

Essentially I have a Model: class SharableUserAsset(db.Model): name = StringProperty() users = ListProperty(users.User) My questions are: What is the best way to associate users to this value where they are not authenticated, visa vi invite from contacts list etc.? Is there a reasonable way to present a list control easily in a djangoforms.ModelForm? Once a user logs in I want to be able to check if that user is in the list for any number of SharableUserAsset class "records", how do I do that? Does user evaluate as a match to an email address or is there a way to look up a valid user against an email address?

  Hi I have a web application running in cluster mode with a load balancer. It consists in two tomcats (T1, and T2) addressing only one DB. T2 is nfs mounted to T1. This is the only dofference between both nodes. I have a java method generating some files. I have run into this problem when installing ImageMagick a while ago, and when installing Nokogiri, and when installing MySQL. For Nokogiri it was because I needed a more recent version of libxml. What are your thoughts on this? Any fixes? How can I check the version of RMagick the project is loading? I am on a Mac, 10.5.8. Thanks for the help, Lance

  How can I script the deployment of a Visual Studio database project? I have a DB project in visual studio and I would like to use it in order to deploy on remote machines via a script. I notice that when I 'deploy' from visual studio, it generates a .sql file. I intercepted this file and tried running it from the command line with osql.exe, but I didn't have any success. Should this work, is there a better way to deploy a database programatically from a database project, may be by referencing in another project and calling some method to deploy it?

  Lemme explain my problem. I have One ID and 2 Other Fields in a CsV file. the ID connected to a database table. I have to show the curresponding entries in the db and fields from Csv. Need sort the Fields too. My Idea was load into a ClientDataset, lookup to a Query with table and Use sort and show. My Csv have 85 K Records and its taking 120 seconds to load and sort, Its not acceptable. Can you tell me, can I use Bacthmove for this.   Hi all, I've seen NoSQL pop up quite a bit on SO and I have a solid understanding of why you would use it (from here, Wikipedia, etc). This could be due to the lack of concrete and uniform definition of what it is (more of a paradigm than concrete implementation), but I'm struggling to wrap my head around how I would go about designing a system that would use it or how I would implement it in my system. I'm really stuck in a relational-db mindset thinking of things in terms of tables and joins... At any rate, does anybody know of a crash course/tutorial on a system that would use it (kind of a "hello world" for a NoSQL-based system) or a tutorial that takes an existing "Hello World" app based on SQL and converts it to NoSQL (not necessarily in code, but just a high-level explanation). I see this having one solid answer, but if you guys feel like it should be community wiki, I'll be happy to change it. Thanks! Chris

  We are using Horizontal cluster in our PROD with WAS 6.1 as the Application server. We have enabled dynacache service for some of the JSP fragments using SHARED-PUSH in cachespec.xml file. Now we want to do cache invalidation programmatically..ie. whenever something changes in DB related to cache the cache should get invalidated. so can you please let me know what steps are involved in it to achieve this? any configuration settings at server side or any development changes.

• Should I trust Redis for data integrity?

  In my current project, I have PostgreSQL as my master DB, and Redis as kind of a slave, e.g., when some user adds another as a friend, first the relationship will be stored in PostgreSQL and then a friend list in Redis will be updated. When some user's friend list is requested, it will be pulled out of Redis instead of PostgreSQL. The question is: when I update the friend list in Redis, should I get a fresh copy outof PostgreSQL, and replace the old list in Redis with the new one or should I keep the old list and simply SADD the userid into the list? The latter is of course best for performance, but intuitively the former does a better job in keep the data integrity? And if something like Celery is used, is the second method worth the risk?

  Hi , I am doing a web application in ZF + Doctrine 1.2.3 but i had an old database , it had pretty good structure so i think i can reverse engineer it with doctrine commad ./dcotrine generate-models-db , its amazing but i stopped when i wanted to use some doctrine behaviors like : searchable as an example , my question : if i went to my model and added these two lines : $this->actAs('Searchable', array( 'fields' => array('title', 'content') ) ); i am not sure if that enough and would work as expected , if you had any more tips about creating other behaviors like (versionable , i18n , sluggable or soft delete ) manually or reverse engineer it with doctrine behaviors , could you please list them
