  Hi, I have a Flex 4 TabBar component with a custom skin. In this skin, the item renderer is defined with an ButtonBarButton with a custom skin. All the tabs in the itemrenderer have now the same width. The client however wants me to make the tabs width dynamically, so a smaller tab for a smaller label, a bigger one for a long label. Does anybody know how to adjust the width of Tab (ButtonBarButton)? Thanks a million!

• How do you adjust the frame or vertical alignment of a UIBarButtonItem contained by a UIToolbar inst

  Horizontal positioning of UIBarButtonItems is no problem, I can simply pad the space with fixed/flexible space items. However, I can't seem to adjust the toolbar item vertically. UIToolbar has no alignment property, and UIBarButtonItem has no way of setting its frame. I need to do this because we're using a mix of custom icons created using initWithImage, and standard icons created with initWithBarButtonSystemItem. The custom icons aren't being centered properly (they're offset upwards, relative to the system icons, which are centered properly), so the toolbar looks awkward.

I was wondering whether an existing control already existed or if there are any good tutorials that explain the basics of creating custom controls for the iPhone. Currently I've tried using affine transforms to create the vertical switch from a basic UIswitch, and it works except that the slider is too small compared to the slider track, thus I'm looking for information on writing custom controls.   I need to render a bunch of painfully long running partials using a rake task. When I try to pull the partial from a rake task, I get the dreaded "Called id for nil, which would mistakenly be 4" error, which usually means that my locals hash has not been properly set into the partial.   I'm using a custom pixel font on the iPad SDK, and I'm trying to find a way to disable font anti-aliasing for UIFont. Pixel fonts usually work best when they don't have Anti-aliasing.   I would like to disable 404 errors from appearing in my Apache error logs. The reason for this is that I have a custom page that handles 404 errors, performing any necessary redirects. If no valid redirect is found in this 404 page, then a nice page appears and the url and other information are logged by the script. Because of this, I do not need 404 errors in my Apache error log. Is there any way to just disable 404s short of doing a custom pipe?
