  • ruby search drop down

    - by cesia
    I have a drop down list of Type in my Products model. I want to be able to search in the Products index.html.erb so a user selects a type from a drop down list, clicks search and all the products matching that type are returned. I can get normal search methods working where the user enters in their search in a text box but I cannot get it working when they just select from a dropdown. Can anyone help?

So i am trying to send the field values in the GET request data. $('#uxMyForm').serialize(); the problem it is returning something undecipherable. I have used serialize before. This is totally bizzare. the return value of serialize is authenticity_token=oRKIDOlPRqfnRehedcRRD7WXt6%2FQ0zLeQqwIahJZJfE%3D&customer%5BuxName%5D=&customer%5BuxEmail%5D=&customer%5BuxResidentialPhone%5D=&customer%5BuxMobilePhone%5D=&customer%5BuxDateOfBirth%5D=&customer%5BuxAddress%5D=&customer%5BuxResidentialStatus%5D= i have no idea how to use this. • Pull datasets from DB and manipulate into separate arrays

    - by dresdin
    My DB has four fields, date:date, morning:integer, afternoon:integer, evening:integer. Google charts needs the data split into one array per dataset (example below). What's the best way to do this? ['Day', 'Morning', 'Afternoon', 'Evening'], ['06/27/13', 1000, 400 234], ['06/28/13', 1170, 460 275], ['06/29/13', 660, 1120 377], ['06/30/13', 1030, 540 934] I've tried this without much luck: var data = google.visualization.arrayToDataTable([ <% @todo.each do |t| %> ['Day', 'Morning', 'Afternoon', 'Evening'], [<%= t.date.strftime("%m/%d/%y") %>, <%= t.morning %>, <%= t.afternoon %>, <%= t.evening %>] <% end %> ]);

  • Browser freezes when try to call a JS function along with submission of a form.

    - by Waseem
    I have form in my view like following 1 <div> 2 <% form_tag facebook_user_path do %> 3 <label>Use my photo and name from facebook?</label><br /> 4 <%= check_box_tag 'use_name_and_photo', 'yes', true %> 5 <img src="<%= @user.pic %>" /><% @user.name %> 6 7 <%= submit_tag "Finish", :id => "use_name_and_photo_submit" %> 8 <% end %> 9 </div> I have attached some JS handlers using Jquery to this form. 1 var fb = { 2 extendedPermissions: function () { 3 $("#use_name_and_photo_submit").click(function (event) { 4 FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog("email,read_stream,publish_stream", function (perms) { 5 if (!perms) { 6 alert("You have to grant facebook extended permissions to further browse the application."); 7 } else { 8 $("form").submit(function () { 9 $.post($(this).attr("action"), $(this).serialize(), null, "script"); 10 }); 11 } 12 }); 13 event.preventDefault(); 14 return false; 15 }); 16 } 17 }; 18 19 $(document).ready(function () { 20 fb.extendedPermissions(); 21 }); What I want is that when the user clicks on the "Finish" button, he is prompted for the facebook permissions dialogue and when he gives the permissions, the form is submitted to FacebookUsersController. Right now when I click the "Finish" button, facebook permissions dialogue is initiated but before I am prompted for the actual permission submission window, the browser freezes. Just like I have pressed Esc during the process. In fact status bar of the browser says "Stopped". Any help is highly appreciated.

    Im using the gem for thinking sphinx: sudo gem install freelancing-god-thinking-sphinx \ --source http://gems.github.com So: require 'vendor/plugins/thinking-sphinx/recipes/thinking_sphinx' Which is prescribed on the website does not work. How do I include the capistrano thinking sphinx tasks in my deploy.rb file when using the gem? EDIT Adding: require 'thinking_sphinx/deploy/capistrano' gives me: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/freelancing-god-thinking-sphinx-1.1.12/lib/thinking_sphinx/deploy/capistrano.rb:1: undefined method `namespace' for main:Object (NoMethodError) from /usr/local/lib/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `gem_original_require' from /usr/local/lib/site_ruby/1.8/rubygems/custom_require.rb:36:in `require' from /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/capistrano-2.5.8/lib/capistrano/configuration/loading.rb:152:in `require'

  • problem with parsing string from excel file

    - by ohana
    hi, i have ruby code to parse data in excel file using Parseexcel gem. I need to save 2 columns in that file into a Hash, here is my code: worksheet.each { |row| if row != nil key = row.at(1).to_s.strip value = row.at(0).to_s.strip if !parts.has_key?(key) and key.length 0 parts[key] = value end end } however it still save duplicate keys into the hash: "020098-10". I checked the excel file at the specified row and found the difference are " 020098-10" and "020098-10". the first one has a leading space while the second doesn't. I dont' understand is it true that .strip function already remove all leading and trailing white space? also when i tried to print out key.length, it gave me these weird number: 020098-10 length 18 020098-10 length 17 which should be 9....

  • How Do I Search Between a Date Rang Using the ActiveRecord Model?

    - by Russ Bradberry
    I am new to both Ruby and ActiveRecord. I currently have a need to modify and existing piece of code to add a date range in the select. The current piece goes like this: ReportsThirdparty.find(:all, :conditions => {:site_id=>site_id, :campaign_id=>campaign_id, :size_id=>size_id}) Now, I need to add a range, but I am not sure how to do the BETWEEN or >= or <= operators. I guess what I need is something similar to: ReportsThirdparty.find(:all, :conditions => {:site_id=>site_id, :campaign_id=>campaign_id, :size_id=>size_id, :row_date=>"BETWEEN #{start_date} AND #{end_date}") Even if this did work, I know that using interpolation here would leave me subject to SQL injection attacks.

  • Simple CanCan problem

    - by sscirrus
    I have just started with CanCan and here's a sample of the code: # Ability.rb def initialize(user) user ||= User.new can :read, Link end # view.html.erb <% if can? :read, @link %> ... <% end %> This is from the github repo for CanCan but this doesn't seem to work (it returns false and stops the ... code from running). When I change the view to <% if can? :read, Link %>, it works. But, this is different to the CanCan readme. Do you know where I'm going wrong here?

  • Random record in ActiveRecord

    - by astrofoo
    I'm in need of getting a random record from a table via ActiveRecord. I've followed the example from Jamis Buck from 2006. However, I've also come across another way via a Google search (can't attribute with a link due to new user restrictions): rand_id = rand(Model.count) rand_record = Model.first(:conditions => [ "id >= ?", rand_id]) I'm curious how others on here have done it or if anyone knows what way would be more efficient.

  • Escape doube and single backslashes in a string in Ruby

    - by Nick Gorbikoff
    Hello. I'm trying to access a network path in my ruby script on a windows platform in a format like this. \\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\ Now If I try to use this as a path, it won't work. Single backslashes are not properly escaped for this script. path = "\\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\" d = Dir.new(path) I tried everything I could think of to properly escape slashes in the path. However I can't escape that single backslash - because of it's special meaning. I tried single quotes, double quotes, escaping backslash itself, using alternate quotes such as %Q{} or %q{}, using ascii to char conversion. Nothing works in a sense that I'm not doing it right. :-) Right now the temp solution is to Map a network drive N:\ pointing to that path and access it that way, but that not a solution. Does anyone have any idea how to properly escape single backslashes? Thank you

  • Conditionally hide a portion of a partial when viewed from another controller

    - by user284194
    I'm using a partial from my messages controller in my tags controller. The portion in question looks like this: <% unless message.tag_list.nil? || message.tag_list.empty? %> <% message.tags.each do |t| %> <div class="tag"><%= link_to t.name.titleize, tag_path(t) %></div> <% end %> <% end %> Is there a way to hide this portion of the partial only when it is viewed from the tags controller? Thanks for reading my question.

  • Adding a computed column to an ActiveRecord query

    - by bmwbzz
    Hi, I am running a query using a scope and some conditions. Something like this: conditions[:offset] = (options[:page].to_i - 1) * PAGE_SIZE unless options[:page].blank? conditions[:limit] = options[:limit] ||= PAGE_SIZE scope = Promo.enabled.active results = scope.all conditions I'd like to add a computed column to the query (at the point when I'm now calling scope.all). Something like this: (ACOS(least(1,COS(0.71106459055501)*COS(-1.2915436464758)*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lat))*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lng))+ COS(0.71106459055501)*SIN(-1.2915436464758)*COS(RADIANS(addresses.lat))*SIN(RADIANS(addresses.lng))+ SIN(0.71106459055501)*SIN(RADIANS(addresses.lat))))*3963.19) as accurate_distance Is there a way to do that without just using find_by_sql and rewriting the whole existing query? Thanks!

  • Checking ActiveRecord Associations in RSpec.

    - by alokswain
    I am learning how to write test cases using Rspec. I have a simple Post Comments Scaffold where a Post can have many Comments. I am testing this using Rspec. How should i go about checking for Post :has_many :comments. Should I stub Post.comments method and then check this with by returning a mock object of array of comment objects? Is testing for AR associations really required ?

  • Why does Rake task enhancement differ between my local environment and when deploying to Heroku Cedar?

    - by John Bachir
    I have this in lib/tasks/foo.rake: Rake::Task["assets:precompile"].enhance do print ">>>>>>>> hello from precompile" end Rake::Task["assets:precompile:nondigest"].enhance do print ">>>>>>>> hello from precompile:nondigest" end When I run rake assets:precompile locally, both messages are printed. When I push to heroku, only the nondigest message is printed. However, according to the buildpack, the push is executing the exact same command as I am locally. Why does the enhancement to the base assets:precompile case not work on heroku but does work locally?

  • link_to for calling an action, instead of a button_to

    - by Brian Roisentul
    I'd like to call an action with a link_to button without being redirected to another page(I don't want ajax). For you to have an idea, I'm trying to accomplish a sort "link button" in a search page. So, when the link is clicked, the page should be refreshed showing the list ordered as I tell it in the action. If I do the following in my view, it will ask me for a template called as the action, and I don't want it: <%= link_to 'M&Aacute;S RELEVANTES', search_filter_relevance_path %> My routes file looks like this: map.search_filter_relevance "/anuncios/buscar", :controller => 'announcements', :action => 'search_filter_relevance' And my controller looks like this(I haven't developed the functionality yet): def search_filter_relevance end Any help on this will be appreciated.
