  • Anyway to surround code block with curly braces {} in VS2008?

    - by Jim McKeeth
    I always find myself needing to enclose a block of code in curly braces { }, but unfortunately that isn't included in the C# surround code snippets, which seems to be an oversight. I couldn't find anything on building your own surround snippets either (just other kinds of snippets). I am actually running Resharper too, but it doesn't seem to have this functionality either (or I haven't figured how to activate it). We have a coding standard of including even a single line of code after an if or else in curly braces, so if I could just make Resharper do that refactor automatically that would be even better!

  • Why Controller doesn't recognize a public method which (yet) appears in the intellisense ?

    - by Richard77
    Hello, I'm using an helper class that I called CreateEditOrganizationService where I put all the helper methods. In my controller, I've createService as object of that class. So far, I've got 5 methods. Now, I've just defined a 6th method called Set_TypeOrganization. I'm getting the Set_TypeOrganization in the intellisense, but after I've chose it, I get the following error: *CreateEditOrganizationService does not contain a definition for Set_TypeOrganization are you missing a directive or a reference?* public List<TypeOrganization> Set_TypeOrganization(string choice) { //Definition goes here... } and in my Controller CreateEditOrganizationService createService = new CreateEditOrganizationService(); //... ViewData["TypeOrganizations"] = createService.Set_TypeOrganization(choice); Unfortunately, VS shows me the error? Yet, the method appear in the intellisense when I type a dot after the createService object. Thannks for helping

  • The right way to setup VisualStudio 2010 for OpenCL

    - by LonliLokli
    what is the right way to setup VisualStuio 2010 for working with *.cl files? I have added *.cl under Tool/Text editor/File extensions and copied usertype.dat into the common7/ide folder, but VS underlines keywords like float4 or cross. Is it necessary to add some key in registry or can somebody propose a tutorial? Thanks in advance. PS i have already asked similar question old one question, but now i am looking explicit for a solution with vs2010. It is not bad, but really nerves and deflects me from programming tasks.

  • Query MS Access database in VB 2008

    - by Logan
    Hi, I added an Access database as a Data Source in VB 2008. I want to query this database and use the information in various ways throughout the program. For example, there is an Employee table with first/last names of employees. I have a combobox on my form that I want to display all of the employees. So I want to query the database for all the rows in the Employee table, and add them to the combobox as I go. I am familiar with SQL Syntax, so I am not asking how to write the query itself, but rather how to fetch rows in VB code (mimicking php's mysql_fetch_assoc and mysql_connect essentially) Thanks! Edit: Also, I want to know if I can query a DB if I don't add it as a data source (if I know the path name of the database)

  • VS2010 (older) installer project - two or more objects have the same target location.

    - by Hamish Grubijan
    This installer project was created back in 2004 and upgraded ever since. There are two offending dll files, which produce a total of 4 errors. I have searched online for this warning message and did not find a permanent fix (I did manage to make it go away once until I have done something like a clean, or built in Release, and then in Debug). I also tried cleaning, and then refreshing the dependencies. The duplicated entries are still in there. I also did not find a good explanation for what this error means. Additional warnings are of this nature: Warning 36 The version of the .NET Framework launch condition '.NET Framework 4' does not match the selected .NET Framework bootstrapper package. Update the .NET Framework launch condition to match the version of the .NET Framework selected in the Prerequisites Dialog Box. So, where is this prerequisites box? I want to make both things agree on .Net 4.0, just having a hard time locating both of them.

  • Easy way to add custom prerequisite in clickonce publish (VS 2010)

    - by Maciej
    I would like to add Infragistics dlls as custom prerequisite when publishing my project. I've read about that: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa730839%28VS.80%29.aspx But this seems to be a bit complicated... I wonder if exists a bit simple way to archive that (eg by passing URL to setup.exe or such) ? EDIT This Might be also interesting: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/Add_Custom_Prerequisite.aspx?msg=2520811 will check and let you know...

  • DataGridView - DefaultCellStyle, rows and columns propriority

    - by angelPL
    Hi! In C#, in DataGridView I want to set the BackColor property for the first row and first column. And the cell from first row and first column, should have property from first column, not row - but it does. For example: (table 3 x 3); 'X' - property for first row, 'Y' - property for first column, 'a' - default property should be: Y X X Y a a Y a a but is: X X X Y a a Y a a There is no matter which property I set first: dataGridView1.Rows[0].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Lavender; dataGridView1.Columns[0].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Beige; or: dataGridView1.Columns[0].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Beige; dataGridView1.Rows[0].DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Lavender; Sorry for my english...

  • Stylesheets loading but styles not showing...

    - by echobase
    Hi- I have a website I created in VS2010 and am trying to run with IIS7. My website starts in all major browsers but for some reason the styles are not applied even though I've confirmed using Firebug that the stylesheets have indeed loaded. Also, when I use the inspect tool to click on an element, I can see in the right-side box the specific styles that are supposed to be applied. I thought this might be a permissions issue but I think I've got those set properly. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I am facing following issue while trying to use template in my code I have some C++ code which i call from C functions. Problem is I am getting different values in the following code for statement 1 and 2. Type id : unsigned int statement 1 : 4 statement 2 : 1 C++ Code : template <typename T> void func(T* value, unsigned int len = sizeof(T)) { cout << "Type id : " << typeid(T).name() << endl; cout << "statement 1 " << sizeof(T) << endl; cout << "statement 2 " << len << endl; } template <typename T> void func1(T data) { T val = data; func(&val); } C Code : void test(void *ptr, unsigned int len) { switch(len) { case 1: func1(*(static_cast<uint32_t *>(ptr)) break; } } This happens only on windows.   • Difficulty understanding behavior of free()

    - by Rasmi Ranjan Nayak
    int main() { int *ptr, **ptr1; ptr = (int*)malloc(sizeof(int)); ptr1 = (int**)malloc(sizeof(int)); free(ptr); *ptr = 12345; ptr1 = &ptr; //free(ptr); //**ptr1 = 23456; printf("%d \n", **ptr1); system("pause"); return 0; } How does *ptr store the value 12345, when the memory has already been freed? So, now ptr should be pointing to garbage. Why is this happening?

  • Jumping over a While loop in Debug mode

    - by BDotA
    Here is the scenario: I put a break point at the beginning of a method that I want to debug... at first lets say there is Part1 in this method that I want to step into/over some of the codes... good... after that there is a While loop that I am NOT interested to step into/over it, I just want to tell the debugger that Hey you yourself run this loop for 10 times and just let me move to Part2 of my code which starts after this While loop , is it possible to do this with debugging options? so something like this : BreakPoint : MyMethod { Part One of the code : Ok, lets debug it While Loop : I do not care, Do not want to debug it Part Two of the code: Yes, I want to debug it too }

  • "And" condition in C#/LINQ Query

    - by user1213055
    partial void PrintDocLetter1_CanExecute(ref bool result) { if (this.PatientsMasterItem.DoctorsMasterItem != null) { var Doctor = PatientsMasterItem.DoctorsMasterItem; var PatientList = Doctor.PatientsMasterItem; var Letters = PatientsMasterItem.LettersSentItem; if ((PatientList.Count() > 1) && (Letters.Any(i => i.LetterType == "DoctorLetter1"))) { result = false; } else { result = true; } } } I think something is wrong with my second condition. I'm trying to find two things. 1) Doctors with more than 1 patient. 2) Among those patients whether a lettertype called "DoctorLetter1" has been sent or not. The above code is working good for that particular record but not working other patients with same doctors where patient1 has already been sent with DoctorLetter1.

  • Get items selected from another form

    - by Samarth Agarwal
    Hi I have a Windows Form application. I have a Textbox. I want to implement a functionality like when the user clicks on the textbox, a list should be made available to the user and then the item selected from the list should be filled in the textbox. The list should not be available if some other control is focussed other than the textbox. What would be the better way to do this? Should I implement the list in the same form as the textbox or should I use another form for the list? I want to implement a functionality like in the Tally Accounting Software.
