• save jQuerry changes to css file on server

  I'm developing a system that allows for changing some of the css parameters without accessing the code. To achieve that I have jQuerry objects like sliders and draggers which influence how the site looks user side, eg. $("#MainContent").css("width", "55%");. Now I need a way to append those changes to a .css file on the server. Let me clarify that this is sort of a CMS system, and only administrator of the system would have this option, not the visitors of user-end site. I realise that .css is one for all users. Ideal solution would connect to the server every time user makes a change, and replace only one line of css code. But I have no idea how to do it efficiently or if it at all possible.

• Access: Expression too complex to be evaluated

  I'm trying to sort out values from a database by the weekending date. The script I'm using functions on 6 of my 7 databases (they are all constructed identically). The 7th database doesn't function. I get the expression too complex error. any help figuring out why?? This comes up in an Android app where we need an array of 20 booleans to persist and the easiest way to do that is to write an integer or string to the key-value store.   Hi, I am wanting to insert a datetime into a MySql data base using Java and a prepared statement: Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance(); PreparedStatement stmnt = db.PreparedStatement("INSERT INTO Run " + "(Time) VALUE (?) "); stmnt.setDate(1, new java.sql.Date(cal.getTime())); stmnt.executeQuery(); NOTE: thre is currently an error - cannot find symbol (java.sql.Date) line 4 here db is an instance of a sort of wrapper class that exposes what I need from java.sql - its just getting a prepared statement from my connection object here. Time (the column) is a date time in my database, and I can only see sedDate and setTime method but I want to store both - also my code does not work anyway ;-) if anyone could give me some pointers on inserting a combined date time (current time would be a great help as that's my first goal) into a MySql DB using a prepared statement I would be very grateful. • How should I deal with sqlite errors?

  I have a long running application written in a mix of C and C++ that stores data in sqlite. While I am confident that committed data will remain available (barring mechanical failure) and uncommitted data will not be, it's not clear to me what I can do with this sort of middle state. I do a large number of inserts in a transaction and then commit it. When an error occurs on a given statement, I can schedule it to be attempted at some point in the future. It sounds like some errors might implicitly rollback my transaction (which would be undesirable if true). A larger problem is what happens when my commit itself fails. Currently, I'm just going to continue to retry it until it works. I would expect that whatever would cause my commit to fail may very well also cause a rollback to fail. What is the recommended mechanism for error handling in such a situation?

• accessing variable sheet ranges within Google spreadsheet?

  I've been trying to keep this little project entirely within Google docs, but I may have hit a wall. The spreadsheet is being used as a way for multiple users to record individual events with a Template they duplicate. I want to be able to compile a list of names of those attended onto a "report" sheet from all of the unique sheets, which should be after a certain sheet index [3] to [infinite]. Is this sort of variable sheet range possible in Google spreadsheets or do I need to go to the API to get this accomplished?

  I have the following int[] in my database: '{0}' '{0,0}' '{0,0,0}' '{0,0,0,0}' This column is used to sort my tree data. Now when a parent updates it's order the children should also update. For example if the second record updates it's order to 1 it should result in the following. '{0}' '{0,1}' '{0,1,0}' '{0,1,0,0}' So I was wondering what the query would be to update record 3 and 4. • Mysql Query - Order By Not Working

  I'm running Mysql 5.0.77 and I'm pretty sure this query should work? SELECT * FROM purchases WHERE time_purchased BETWEEN '2010-04-15 00:00:00' AND '2010-04-18 23:59:59' ORDER BY time_purchased ASC, order_total DESC time_purchased is DATETIME, and an index. order_total is DECIMAL(10,2), and not an index. I want to order all purchases by the date (least to greatest), and then by the order total (greatest to least). So I would output similar to: 2010-04-15 $100 2010-04-15 $80 2010-04-15 $20 2010-04-16 $170 2010-04-16 $45 2010-04-16 $15 2010-04-17 $274 .. and so on. The output I am getting from that query has the dates in order correctly, but it doesn't appear to sort the order total column at all. Thoughts? Thanks.

  Is it possible to call a php class function DIRECTLY using ajax? Something like below... except ajax... myclass::myfunction(); I've been using the jquery library to work with AJAX. $.get('control.php', {func: funcName, arg1: arg1}); The above is similar to what I'm trying to achieve MINUS the control.php; I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I just thought it would be nice to skip the landing page (control.php) that recieves the funcName. I have a bunch of conditional statements that sort out what class function to run based on the funcName recieved. It seems kind of silly to do this, to have a separate page just to handle function calls. Is there a better way?

• Django: ordering numerical value with order_by

  I'm in a situation where I must output a quite large list of objects by a CharField used to store street addresses. My problem is, that obviously the data is ordered by ASCII codes since it's a Charfield, with the predictable results .. it sort the numbers like this; 1, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 2, 20, 21.... Now the obvious step would be to change the Charfield the proper field type (IntegerField let's say), however it cannot work since some address might have apartments .. like "128A". I really don't know how I can order this properly ..

• jQuery infinite loop w/ tablesorter

  Got myself in a funny situation: page has three tables. Using sortEnd, any time you sort one table, it sorts the other three. However, since I bound sortEnd to the function that does the sorting, you get a infinite loop of sorting/resorting. • resort on a std::vector vs std::insert

  I have a sorted std::vector of relative small size ( from 5 to 20 elements ). I used std::vector since the data is continuous so I have speed because of cache. On a specific point I need to remove an element from this vector. I have now a doubt: which is the fastest way to remove this value between the 2 options below? setting that element to 0 and call sort to reorder: this has complexity but elements are on the same cache line. call erase that will copy ( or memcpy who knows?? ) all elements after it of 1 place ( I need to investigate the behind scense of erase ). Do you know which one is faster? I think that the same approach could be thought about inserting a new element without hitting the max capacity of the vector. Regards AFG

• How to Print reports in Silverlight 4

  I am wondering if there is anything built in to Silverlight, or possibly c# to allow for printing reports? I'd be happy with any number of methods: exporting files to a pdf format and printing from there, exporting as a text document of some sort and printing from there, or just simply showing the print dialog from the web application itself. I know there are ways to do this in C#, but the c# code-behind is different for many things in Silverlight applications and I can't seem to find anything that will work. So if anyone has any ideas on things I could try it would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

• Hibernate Query - Get latest versions by timestamp?

  I have a database that is being used as a sort of version control system. That is, instead of ever updating any rows, I add a new row with the same information. Each row also contains a version column that is a date timestamp, so the only difference is the new row will have a more recent timestamp. What I'm having trouble with is writing an efficient hibernate query to return the latest version of these rows. For the sake of example, these are rows in a table called Product, the timestamped column is version. There are multiple versions of multiple products in the table. So there may be multiple versions (rows) of ProductA, multiple versions of ProductB, etc. And I would like to grab the latest version of each. Can I do this in just a single hibernate query? session.createQuery("select product from Product product where...?"); Or would this require some intermediate steps?

Before I got my first job, I thought I knew C# pretty well, then I was thrown right into the deep end, and now I know I have a good command over the language. I would like to apply the same method to other languages, but unfortunately, I'm sort of stuck with C# at work. Ideally, something similar (but broader in scope) to Project Euler is ideal. Project Euler helped me learn a ton of C++/F#, some math, algorithms, handling bignums, etc. I'm looking for something like this.

• Retrieving Large Lists of Objects Using Java EE

  Is there a generally-accepted way to return a large list of objects using Java EE? For example, if you had a database ResultSet that had millions of objects how would you return those objects to a (remote) client application? Another example -- that is closer to what I'm actually doing -- would be to aggregate data from hundreds of sources, normalize it, and incrementally transfer it to a client system as a single "list". Since all the data cannot fit in memory, I was thinking that a combination of a stateful SessionBean and some sort of custom Iterator that called back to the server would do the trick. How have you successfully solved this problem in the past?

  For a project at university I plan to build an annotation based tool to visualize/play around with data structures. Here's my idea: Students which want to try out their self-written data structures need to: mark the type of their data structures using some sort of marker annotation e.g. @List public class MyList { ... } so that I know how to represent the data structure need to provide an iterator so that I can retrieve the elements in the right order need to annotate methods for insertion and removal, e.g. @add public boolean insert(E e) { ... } so that I can "bind" that method to some button. Do similar applications exist? I googled a little bit around but didn't find anything like that.

  So I've been learning C++ and SDL to make some basic 2d games. I want to create a game sort of like World of Warcraft but a 2D version. I want it to be on-line and use a database or something to start data like amount of Gold, HP, etc. I was wondering though, if I do this in SDL, would it still work on-line or would the user have to download SDL themselves to play? I just want a game like this but be able to play it with some friends, just for learning purposes you know. I was also looking at DirectX because everyone has that on windows pretty much. • Need help in sorting the programming buzz-words

  How do you sort out the good buzz from the bad buzz? - I really need your help here :) I see a lot of buzz-words nowadays, both here on SO and in school. For example, we had a teacher who everyone respected, who said "be careful about gold-plating and death-by-interfacing". Now, everyone and their mama cries whenever I'm creating an interface.. Another example would be here on SO where lately "premature optimization is the root of all evil", so everytime someone asks a perfomance question, he'll get that sentence thrown in his face. A few months ago I remember it was all about NHibernate in here, etc., etc... These things comes and goes, but only the good buzz stays. Now, how do you seperate the good from the bad? By reading blogs from respected persons? By trying to come to a conclusion on your own, and then try to convince others that you're right? By simply ignoring it?

  i have some old php files which i'd like to convert to use gettext. those files have a content like this : $LD = 'Some String'; $Another = 'some other ~n~ string'; i have to substitute all the $LD, $Another in the files where they are declared with something like : _('Some string'); hacking a bit a created some sort of regexp to find the declarations, my aim was to use sed and awk to do the replaces..but i don't have any clue on how to do those substitutions ... any help ...
