• How can I work out what events are being waited for with WinDBG in a kernel debug session

  I'm a complete WinDbg newbie and I've been trying to debug a WindowsXP problem that a customer has sent me where our software and some third party software prevent windows from logging off. I've reproduced the problem and have verified that only when our software and the customers software are both installed (although not necessarily running at logoff) does the log off problem occur. I've observed that WM_ENDSESSION messages are not reaching the running windows when the user tries to log off and I know that the third party software uses a kernel driver. I've been looking at the processes in WinDbg and I know that csrss.exe would normally send all the windows a WM_ENDSESSION message. • Theory: "Lexical Encoding"

  I am using the term "Lexical Encoding" for my lack of a better one. A Word is arguably the fundamental unit of communication as opposed to a Letter. Unicode tries to assign a numeric value to each Letter of all known Alphabets. What is a Letter to one language, is a Glyph to another. Unicode 5.1 assigns more than 100,000 values to these Glyphs currently. Out of the approximately 180,000 Words being used in Modern English, it is said that with a vocabulary of about 2,000 Words, you should be able to converse in general terms. A "Lexical Encoding" would encode each Word not each Letter, and encapsulate them within a Sentence. // An simplified example of a "Lexical Encoding" String sentence = "How are you today?"; int[] sentence = { 93, 22, 14, 330, QUERY }; In this example each Token in the String was encoded as an Integer. The Encoding Scheme here simply assigned an int value based on generalised statistical ranking of word usage, and assigned a constant to the question mark. Ultimately, a Word has both a Spelling & Meaning though. Any "Lexical Encoding" would preserve the meaning and intent of the Sentence as a whole, and not be language specific. An English sentence would be encoded into "...language-neutral atomic elements of meaning ..." which could then be reconstituted into any language with a structured Syntactic Form and Grammatical Structure. • Unity Configuration and Same Assembly

  I'm currently getting an error trying to resolve my IDataAccess class. The value of the property 'type' cannot be parsed. The error is: Could not load file or assembly 'TestProject' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (C:\Source\TestIoC\src\TestIoC\TestProject\bin\Debug\TestProject.vshost.exe.config line 14) This is inside a WPF Application project. What is the correct syntax to refer to the Assembly you are currently in? is there a way to do this? I know in a larger solution I would be pulling Types from seperate assemblies so this might not be an issue. But what is the right way to do this for a small self-contained test project. Note: I'm only interested in doing the XML config at this time, not the C# (in code) config.   Hey, I'm having some trouble with stuff that work locally and dont work on the app engine python environment: Basically, i want to get a program from an epg between ranges of date and time. i know i cannot do two where < so i saw a suggestion to save the dates as list as datetime.datetime which i did. [datetime.datetime(2010, 5, 10, 14, 25), datetime.datetime(2010, 5, 10, 15, 0)] This is ok. but when i try to compare to it: progranon = get_object(Programs2Channel, 'channel_id =', channelobj.key(), 'endstartdate >', programstart_minex, 'endstartdate <', programstart_minex ) This for some reason works locally, but fails to retrieve the data on the app engine. *Im using Google app engine django patch which uses the get_object to retrieve data in transactions. Please help. • Adding an ADO.NET Entity Data Model throws build errors

  I am using Visual Studio 2013 express. I create a new project and then I add a database to that project. But, when I add an ADO.NET Entity Framework model to that project and then run the program, I get the following four build errors listed below. To try to remedy this myself, I added the namespaces 'System.Data.Entity' and 'System.Data.Entity.Design', but that didn't help. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed the Nuget package. I also uninstalled and re-installed Visual Studio 2013 Express for Windows Desktop. But these measures didn't help the situation either. Please note that I used to use the Entity Data model just fine. But it was around the time that I did a system restore on my computer, and when I updated VS 2013 with an update offered on the start page, and finally, when I signed up for MS Azure, that I started running into the problem described above. Now I would think that uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Studio 2013, and then installing the 'Nuget' Package would solve all problems. What am I missing here?   Can anyone give me tips how to solve this using Graphs in C or Java? I have a rectangular sector, that I have to escape, and I have energy that goes disappear every step that i give in the area. I have to give the only one possible solution, the one that uses the least number of steps. If there are at least two sectors with the same number of steps (X1, Y1) and (X2, Y2) then choose the first if X1 < X2 or if X1 = X2 and Y1 < Y2. the position( 1,1) corresponds to the upper left corner.   As the title says, I have to trim a binary tree based on a given min and max value. Each node stores a value, and a left/right node. I may define private helper methods to solve this problem, but otherwise I may not call any other methods of the class nor create any data structures such as arrays, lists, etc. An example would look like this: overallRoot _____[50]____________________ / \ __________[38] _______________[90] / \ / _[14] [42] [54]_____ / \ \ [8] [20] [72] \ / \ [26] [61] [83] trim(52, 65); should return: overallRoot [54] \ [61] My attempted solution has three methods: public void trim(int min, int max) { rootFinder(overallRoot, min, max); } First recursive method finds the new root perfectly. private void rootFinder(IntTreeNode node, int min, int max) { if (node == null) return; if (overallRoot.data < min) { node = overallRoot = node.right; rootFinder(node, min, max); } else if (overallRoot.data > max) { node = overallRoot = node.left; rootFinder(node, min, max); } else cutter(overallRoot, min, max); } This second method should eliminate any further nodes not within the min/max, but it doesn't work as I would hope. private void cutter(IntTreeNode node, int min, int max) { if (node == null) return; if (node.data <= min) { node.left = null; } if (node.data >= max) { node.right = null; } if (node.data < min) { node = node.right; } if (node.data > max) { node = node.left; } cutter(node.left, min, max); cutter(node.right, min, max); } This returns: overallRoot [54]_____ \ [72] / [61] Any help is appreciated. • Scrolling to the bottom of a div on page load: issue with syntaxhighlighter

  I've been using this code: var objDiv = document.getElementById("code"); objDiv.scrollTop = objDiv.scrollHeight; to scroll to the very bottom of the div. It worked perfectly in FF and Chrome (I asked a question about it not working in Chrome a few days ago, but it appears the guy who was testing it on Chrome was incorrect, so I tested it myself) until I started syntax highlighting the code that I put in the div with SyntaxHighlighter. Before, I was putting the code in a <p> and breaking lines with <br />, but the <br /> stuff doesn't fly with SyntaxHighlighter, so I replaced all of those with newlines (not entirely certain if this is important, but it's worth mentioning). Now, when the page loads, it does scroll, but not all the way down. It scrolls nearly to the bottom. I've tried all the methods listed in the other question I mentioned but they all do the same thing, or nothing at all. Is there anything else I can try? • JavaScript (SVG drawing): Positioning x amount of points in an area

  I'm using http://raphaeljs.com/ to try and draw multiple small circles. The problem I'm having is that the canvas has a fixed width, and if I want to draw, say, 1000 circles, they don't wrap onto a 'new line' (because you have to specify the xy position of each circle). E.g. I want this: .................................................. to look like this: ............................ ...................... At the moment I'm doing this: for ( var i = 0; i < 1000; i++ ) { var multiplier = i*3; if ( i <= 50 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier),2,2); } else if ( i >= 51 && i <= 101 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier) - 304,8,2); } else if ( i >= 152 && i <= 202 ) { paper.circle((2*multiplier) - 910,14,2); } } For reference: circle(x co-ord, y co-ord, radius) This is messy. I have to add an if statement for every new line I want. Must be a better way of doing it..?

• Module not found

  Hi There! I've been working on this one quite a bit and haven't gotten any closer to a solution. I juut dug up my old copy of the WindowsHookLib again - It's available with source at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/DLL/WindowsHookLib.aspx. This library allows Global Windows Mouse/Keyboard/Clipboard Hooks, which is very useful. I'm trying to use the Mouse Hook in here to Capture Mouse-Motion (I could use a Timer that always polls Cursor.Position, but I plan on using more features of WindowsHookLib later). Code as follows: MouseHook mh = new MouseHook(); mh.InstallHook(); mh.MouseMove += new EventHandler<WindowsHookLib.MouseEventArgs>(mh_MouseMove); But on the call to InstallHook(), I get an Exception: "The specified Module could not be found". Strange. Searching, I found that someone thought this occurs because a DLL is not in a place included in the Windows PATH variable, and because placing it in system32 didn't help I went the whole hog and translated the thing to C# for inclusion directly in my project (I was curious how it works). However the error was obstinately persistent, so I dug a bit on this, and found the Code in the Library that is responsible: In InstallHook(), we have IntPtr hinstDLL = Marshal.GetHINSTANCE(Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetModules()[0]); this._hMouseHook = UnsafeNativeMethods.SetWindowsHookEx(14, this._mouseProc, hinstDLL, 0); if (this._hMouseHook == IntPtr.Zero) { throw new MouseHookException(new Win32Exception(Marshal.GetLastWin32Error()).Message); } And this (after modification and recompile) tells me that what I'm really getting is a Windows error "ERROR_MOD_NOT_FOUND"! Now, Here I'm stumped. Didn't I just compile the Hook Library directly into my project? (UnsafeMethods.SetWindowsHookEx is just a DllImported Method from user32) Any Answers, or Prods in the right direction, or any hints, pointers or similar are very much appreciated!

• ExtJS 4 Chart Axis Display Issue in Chrome

  I've run into an issue while using ExtJS 4.0.7. I'm trying to display a chart with two series on a Numeric/Category Chart. The chart displays correctly in Firefox, but while using Chrome (18.0.1025.142) the x axis labels are either all stacked upon each or else (when using rotate) rendered behind the chart in the specified angle. Any ideas would be appreciated.
