  • Eucalyptus / no bootable EBS yet - any alternatives to Eucalyptus?

    I've read a couple of articles that Eucalyptus doesn't support bootable EBS yet. This is a problem since you can't make a backup form an instance like you a able on Amazon cloud or Rack Space Cloud. If you ever reboot the physical Ecalyptus sever that's running the node controller the instance is gone along with all your settings. Are there any alternatives to Eucalyptus or is just the only game in town when it comes to open source cloud?

Whereas setclasspath.sh already exists at this location.

    Physical memory(MB) for Windows 7 Total 4021 Cached 1113 Available 768 Free 174 Memory used 3.25GB At this point, windows7 asks me to close some programs because "system memory is low". From my understanding reading articles, I still have 768 MB free memory, why does windows7 complain? Also what does Cached memory refer to? Is this part of memory that Windows7 reserved for itself meaning it's free to use by Windows7 (and means I have about 768 + 1113 MB of free mem?)?

    I was following this tutorial: http://articles.slicehost.com/2010/4/23/ubuntu-karmic-setup-part-2 On my ubuntu karmic version (on ec2, ami from elastic) I don't see this file: cat /etc/lsb-release It just isn't there. How can I see the version of the O/S? And shouldn't that file be there? Some people have told me ubuntu isn't really used as a server, is that true or is the trend making it more viable?

    I have tried using Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus and Roomy Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox add-ons, but the problem is that they are constantly stressing my CPU (even when idling). It probably has something to do with version 11 of the browser. Anyway, is there some clean way to increase the height of the bookmarks toolbar? I've read a lot of articles that refer to userChrome.css and I have tried a dozen solutions, but none worked because they were outdated. Please help me with this.

    I am configuring a new box on slicehost to set it up as a webserver. I am following the steps listed at http://articles.slicehost.com/2010/5/20/installing-apache-on-debian To summarize, the steps are: sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude install apache2 sudo nano /etc/apache2/conf.d/servername.conf sudo /usr/sbin/apache2ctl graceful After completing all the steps I get a 401 when visiting the root of the site (http://67.180.210.158/). What would be the right steps to diagnose what's going on here?

Simply setting the article's Access Level to Restricted makes it disappear rather than prompting for a login. I can't figure out how to make a login page because I can't find any menu items or documentation pertaining to mod_login. I want to set at least one page to require login access. Where do I start?

For instance, from reading a couple technet articles I've learned that I can run the following: netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group=”File and Printer Sharing” new enable=Yes The bit about 'group="File and Printer Sharing"' is the part I'm having trouble finding documentation for. What I would like to do is to execute this script for every user every time they login. I found many articles talking about the execution of batch files on startup but I would like to know how to do the same on each login. I've a written a batch file and copied it in : C:\Windows\System32\GroupPolicy\User\Scripts\Logon But it does not seem to be working.

The 1st is here, which looks very simple, and seems it's not necessary to create a user account(useradd ...) the 2nd is here, which is a lot more complicated, and seems I need to create a user account for each svn user.   • Does QEMU's performance (still) lag VirtualBox's and is there a way to improve it without kvm?

    I've noticed several articles that have claimed that QEMU is slower than VirtualBox (without hardware assistance) but several are years old, and the newest seemed to be from last year. Is it true that QEMU is slower than VirtualBox? If so why? Are there any tricks to close the performance gap? Some of my host systems do not have virtualization support so I'm especially interested in performance tips that work without the kernel module.
